In Omaha for a graduation we found our way to Vida Mexican for lunch. We found a non-descript building with a pleasant and clean interior. It was not busy and our party of 9 were lead to two free-standing tables which we slid together. It was located next to the space devoted to walk-up customers and payments. It was not a problem. Our server was all business and got chips and salsa to us without delay. That included red and green sauce both of which were tasty. The red definitely delivered some heat. The chips were pretty good as well. Our orders were taken shortly after the chips were delivered about the time we were ready for more chips which we got too. The menu is diverse and includes a sushi-looking dish, in addition to a few other items not normally associated with a Mexican restaurant. That is of course in addition to more traditional food options. I opted for a simple beef burrito. It was large and very good. I barely got it all down which I would expect for a near $20 burrito. It was good and I had no regrets. Everyone else had different items and I didn't hear any complaints and numerous boxes. Pro tip - they take Apple Pay! I'm not driving from Kansas City to eat at Vida Mexican Food but will stop again in a heartbeat next time I'm in the area. Give it a whirl!

Definitely authentic Mexican food served here, we were the only non Mexicans in the restaurant, but it was great and our servers treated us terrific. The nachos had enough beef and chicken to feed a family. The restaurant is very well maintained and clean. They also have margaritas.

Carne Asada was really good as well as the 3 street tacos. I'm a Happy Customer. I will come back.

The service was fantastic, and it felt like a true family restaurant. The chips were so good, and the salsa was spicy but not too much for people with sensitive palates. I love this style of chips, not a thin restaurant style but a thicker, more savory bite. We went through one portion before our food got to us and they brought more out when I asked. I highly recommend the tacos. I made a mistake and asked for birria not quesabirria tacos, so make sure to specify that if you want quesabirria (with cheese). But, the birria was good anyways! I also got the taco macho (see the pic for what's inside), and wish I would've ordered 2 of those! My husband got the huitlacoche and squash blossom tacos and they were both so good. I was so impressed they had huitlacoche as an option, I've never seen that before! The drinks were ordered and delivered from the server, but she said since they're working on a liquor license they have a bar next door that makes them. If you order a drink with your food, they charge for the drinks and food separate for that reason. I liked my jalapeño margarita! My husband got a cantarito and said it's the best one he's had from all the places we've tried to far!

The streetcar boondoggle is not affecting their block so parking is available. Decor is calming. I did not opt for an adult beverage as they were a bit pricey and I needed to retain focus. Settled on chicken enchiladas. Very tasty with some kick. The cheese was drizzled on top rather than baked through. Service was exceptionally friendly, I suspect from the bartender/proprietor. Would definitely return if in the area, but for now I am generally avoiding streetcar construction chaos. If you are downtown anyway, go.

The house margarita and strawberry margarita were top notch. They were sweet and strong!! The 3 taco special is a great deal. The brisket tacos were awesome, and the chipotle aioli really complimented them. The rice was cooked great and the beans were tasty too. Our server was super friendly, and we were given a table with no wait time. This place was really pretty and is in a good location, next to hotels and other spots.

You can get better, more authentic food at literally any taco truck in South Omaha at less than half the price per taco. This just didn't feel worth the money and we ended up going across the street for dumplings immediately following dinner because *nobody finished anything*. Nothing really stood out as special, which is disappointing considering each individual taco you order is $5-6. - shrimp and bacon: well seasoned and that aioli really complemented the shrimp. Not impressed that it only had 3 shrimp on it and I'm not sure if bacon was added. - Mushroom: ... this one was everybody's least favorite. It was DRY and tasted like smoke. Nothing was added to give it some moisture and it felt like an attempt to make a mushroom taste like meat but it didn't go well. - carnitas and chicken: both of these fall into the same category of nothing to write home about but meet what you'd expect. - Brisket: this one was the best of the day, hands down. I wouldn't say it saved the evening but it was the best meat on the menu. Only note was it made the single tortilla really wet so as soon as I picked it up the tortilla ripped in half. Not complaining about it though as it was the only thing that felt worth the money. - seared tuna: also shockingly dry?? It's barely cooked, how is it dry?? Bland. - El Jefe (rice bowl): once again brisket saved the day but the rice was soggy and I just wasn't impressed especially at the price point. - esquites: not up to par with elote or other esquites I've had... this was the start of our dinner and it was on the bottom with the mushroom taco. The portion size was also incredibly small. We ordered 3 for the table and none returned to the kitchen empty. Our waitress was plenty friendly and prompt- we DID enjoy the service. Ultimately though, we all feel like we wasted our money here.

I opened the door and told him he had to wait because there was people in the restroom, and instead of handling it professionally, he grabbed me by the arms and tried to physically remove me from the building. He was so aggressive and rough that he left BRUISES on my arms. I was so shocked and terrified that someone representing the business would treat a customer like that. No one deserves to be manhandled like that, especially when you're just trying to communicate that there's girls in the restroom and you're wanting to leave safely. This was a completely unnecessary and unacceptable situation, and because of this we will not be returning to epoca. Take your business elsewhere unless you want to be treated like trash by the security workers.
