All have been well prepared and flavorful. The service has always been fast and friendly. The cleanliness... The building is old. It's hard to determine what is just super aged, or in need of a deep clean. The entire place could use a renovation. This goes double for the atmosphere portion of this review. Don't let the name mislead you. Their menu has a bit of everything. I had the Wednesday special country fried chicken with gravy mashed potatoes and corn. One of the best local hole in the wall type restaurants in the area! The food is so tasty, I had the Cowboy Burger which was great. The hamburger buns were nice and soft, meat was cooked perfectly with crisp edges and the fries were freshly fried to the perfect crispiness. A staple to those who work or live in the area! I've had so many different meals from Jonesys and they've all been spectacular! I highly recommend their specials menu! On Wednesdays the country fried chicken is a must! The chicken is tender, juicy, and breaded perfectly! The gravy is perfectly seasoned and you can't go wrong with a staple of sides like mashed potato's and corn! Their burgers are also a must! I know they're know for their tacos, but their burgers are a hidden gem! I've tried the mushroom Swiss and the cowboy! Both sooo good! I've also had their nachos, they have so many cheese options. I got it with queso and that is a new fave! This is on the appetizers menu but definitely enough to have as a meal! Parking is decent they're right next to a gas station in case you need to gas up! Good food, prompt service We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. The place was clean and had a few other tables of customers. The server was prompt and attentive throughout the meal. I ordered the enchilada dinner, large and it was enough to split(and we did). My daughter got the large burrito Large. The meals were huge. It was a very American Mexican fair, a lot like Romeo's, but much larger portions. The beans were very tasty. The chips and salsa were the absolute best part of the meal. I could have made a dinner out of them alone so don't skip them. You do need to order them, they were $4. None of the salsas were hot. They brought a squeeze bottle of hot salsa to the table and I didn't notice any spice. Overall it was a good meal at a good price. I would visit again and would love to try some of their American specials too. read more

Taco Tuesday! $2.50 tacos. According to their online site, they have four types of tacos: beef, chicken, fish, and bean. I only tried the beef and chicken. The chicken taco was juicy but a bit salty for my liking, and the beef taco was the exact opposite. The chicken tasted like the chicken I make in a crockpot, which is fine. The other two who were enjoying the take-out with me said that the tacos weren't that salty last time. If I ever make my way over to Iowa again for taco Tuesday, I'd definitely stick with the chicken tacos. I really liked the fried flour tortilla that they use for the taco shells. read more

The place is not much to look at but pretty good. Better than three stars but couldn't go four so here we are. I agree with everyone's comments about the casual friendly service. About half way through I asked for onions, sure no problem, right out. I had the chimichanga which was to my taste surprisingly bland but the hot sauce fixed that. I am not saying the beans came from a can but they tasted like it. The enchilada sauce had a processed cheese taste. If you are staying in the neighborhood and want something quick and reasonable I think this is much better than the chain restaurants in the area. I'd do five stars if it wasn't for that appalling American cheese with which they defile their food. The chicken tacos are delicious (really, really good and two bucks on Taco Tuesdays) but that oil based American cheese crap is awful. The beans were a tad salty and again that plastic yuk shaved on it, but otherwise good. Hole in the wall with no signage we could see but we found it just the same. Well well well I went to Jonesy's with a co worker. ( I really wanted a fish sandwich for lunch) But I like Mexican food sooooo I went along. I must say O have driving back this place many of times and have never noticed it. They had a 5$ a Wednesday special which was a burrito and half beans and rice. When I received my order it wasn't what I expected. I thought it was going to be a small portion. Nopeeeeee not all all. So I had ordered a beef taco on the side. Mind you we ordered cheese curds to start with as well. OMG... Overall the food was great and our waitress was nice and kept checking on us. I do plan to go back. But not while on my lunch break. If you were to call this an American food restaurant, then I would have given it 4 stars. It is not an authentic northern, southern, or central Mexican, nor Southern California Mexican nor Tex- Mex. Decided to try this in spite of some complaints by others about the cheese. The place was fairly packed so I decided to get my food to go. I waited only 5-6 minutes for my food which was surprising how quick they were. The tacos reminded me of home and what mom made except the filling was not rationed out. These tacos were packed and I should have only ordered one instead of two. The cheese is Velveta which again is what we grew up on. Went here for some Mexican food. Not a Mexican restaurant the menu was extensive with American food as well as basic southwestern. Asked for them to make fajitas spicy they could not waitress said they don't have spices. That leads me to believe the food is pre package. Taste was good plenty on my plates drink selection is minimal margaritas and beer. No other mixed drinks. Kind of a let down from all the other reviews I have read. Staying by the airport and really didn't feel like pizza so I jumped in the car and headed over to Jonesy's. I was warmly greeted like a regular and decided on a couple of beef tacos and chips to go. They weren't busy and I was back in my room in 15 minutes. Tacos were good. They fry flour tortillas for the shells and they had plenty of filling. I wasn't able to finish the chips! Don't go here if you're some taco snob thats just going to whine about it not being authentic. We came in 15 minutes before closing. There were 3 young people working and they did not hesitate to tell us to come in and sit down, they were all very friendly and professional. Since they were closing soon we place a order to go, although the staff insisted we could stay to eat if we pleased. I ordered a beef enchilada, my bf ordered two tacos. There is nothing authentic about this place whatsoever. If you're looking for real Mexican or even a TexMex taco, don't come here. What you'll find is an extremely Americanized version. Chips and salsa are fresh from the grocery store (and cost $3.50 instead of being complimentary), enchiladas have what appeared to be Velveeta cheese in them, taco shells are flour instead of corn, and the chicken in the chicken tacos appeared to be canned. This was a really great place to get a good Mexican meal. However, they have gone downhill fast. Last night we ordered a combo #2 and combo #3, to go. When I got there, the order was not ready and they were not busy at all. When I got home with my order one item was missing. The taco shells had been fried a second time making them a greasy, soggy mess and unedible. The meat has no flavor, they use the cheapest fake cheese possible and the guac was sour. This place is the absolute worst!! I've never been to a Mexican food place where you have to pay for chips & salsa!! Also no shredded beef, only ground beef and on the night we were unfortunate to stop there...they were also outta chicken!! And it was only a Tuesday. My wife and I were looking for something quick and easy near our airport hotel. It turned out to be $2 taco Tuesday, so we hopped in the car and made our way here. We spotted it by the Taco Tuesday sign in the window, but realized it did indeed have a street sign. We, of course, ordered the tacos. I had chicken tacos. They came in freshly fried taco shells, the chicken was unseasoned but juicy, and was finished with shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, and shredded cheese. Mild taco sauce is available on your table, but they will provide hot sauce if you want it. I also ordered sour cream on the side expecting it to come in a little cup, but I was somewhat surprised when it came in a small package such as ketchup or mayo might be given out at a fast food place. Thinking about it, it sort of made sense as they appear to have a thriving take out business. Overall, we had a good experience. Everyone was friendly, the tacos were simple but hit the spot, and a decent price. read more
