Place was once a Plaza Azteca. That chain exists elsewhere, but no longer here. Decor and architecture are same. Outdoor section is nice enough. Food is good, but uninspired. It gets the job done. We really like this place, especially since they've brought back the tables for outside dining. We just prefer to eat outside. Food is excellent and fairly priced. (Prices were not jacked up during pandemic times like other places have done.) I always get the enchiladas - I think it's called Flag Banderas, chicken, cheese, and beef enchiladas. Our server was so friendly and accommodating. We were the only ones outside, so she only came out for us, always checking to see if we needed anything. We'll certainly be back! read more

Used to come to this place when it was Plaza Azteca but ever since this new place has taken over it has gone downhill. The food is mediocre, the service is terrible and has a thing against the african American community. I went here today for happy hour (which really isn't happy hour btw) and was greeted with attitude, mind you we were the only customers in the whole place. After being there for 20 minutes with bad service seated at the bar, I ask for the check. The waitress looks at me and says nothing but walks off. 15 minutes pass by (mind you the place is empty) and I get up to politely find someone to help us, I see the hostess and our bartender sitting legs up by the entrance on their phones. It was so rude, unprofessional and I would never come back nor recommend anyone to come here. If I could not give them no star I would! read more

Not Mexican. Just a waste of an hour and calories. Ordered shrimp tacos and asked if they had anything to replace rice. Waiter (aka bartender) offered french fries. Asked server if fruit slaw was in the taco? NO, on top but would you like on The side? Yes, please. Ordered a house marg. (Don't!) this is a $9 glass of marg mix over ice. (I do not believe there is a shot of tequila in this.) Shrimp tacos delivered with rice and beans by a woman who could not have shown customer service if it was tattooed on her forehead.....I requested the beans come with fries....it took minutes for'the negativity on her face to process my request. The foodserver said as she places the tacos " they no longer serve it with fuit slaw.... "  Did I want shredded lettuce? Yes please. The side never arrived. I cancelled the fries when the 'waiter' stopped'to order the fries on my way through my tacos. What a complete miss start to finish for our first visit. THERE WON'T BE a 2nd time. Where to begin! My boyfriend and I stopped here for dinner after work during the week. We were seated immediately and the restaurant itself looked clean. I ordered the fresh strawberry margarita, my boyfriend a Corona. The margarita tasted as though it was 95% sour mix, 5% tequila. I'm completely fine with not having a strong drink, though I truly couldn't taste a drop of tequila in it over the overpowering mix flavor. We ordered the barbacoa tacos and the porky burrito for dinner. My boyfriend, not being a fan of onions, asked if they could simply take the onions off the tacos, to which they happily obliged. However, we did not realize that in doing this, the taco came with nothing else in it besides the shredded beef. The shells of the tacos were soggy, and had a mild taste of pie crust. The meat itself was soggy, unflavored, and underwhelming. My porky burrito was mostly beans and rice, with some sections not having any meat in it whatsoever. Again, flavorless, tasteless, and underwhelming. We then split the tres leches cake for dessert, the best part of the meal, and were convinced it was due to the cake being an outside purchase. After finishing up, the check had a suspicious 7.35% sales tax added, instead of the standard CT 6.35%. Truthfully, it was a long day at work and we didn't want to make a fuss, figuring it was some sort of typo/error in their system, so we ignored it. Payed our tab and went home, vowing never to return. And then, to top off the night, I got food poisoning after coming back home! Was in the bathroom for hours. This is, well was, our go to place when we wanted some cold beers, chips, and dinner. We usually start with some chips and salsa, a nice big 32 oz draft and dinner. After dinner we get one more beer (not as large) and have some more chips. Today when we asked for more chips we were told they now charge for extra chips. When asked why we were told 'some people waste them'. Pay for extra chips while sucking down 20-30 oz beers because some people waste them? No thanks. Was driving by and saw this place. We've never been. Stopped in for lunch. The food was excellent. Had chips and queso...very very good. Enchilada Rojas also very good. The sangria was excellent. Fresh strawberries, blueberries, peaches. Overall would recommend this place hands down. read more

Not only do the staff not acknowledge African American customers, they were simply rude and stayed in the entrance waiting room instead of the bar. We were the only customers in the whole entire restaurant. The bartender took our drink orders and once we received the drinks she did not return for a very long time. The restaurant was not even busy. We asked for the check and she vanished again for over 15 minutes. My sister had to go to the front to ask her to check us out while she sat on the chair in the front waiting room with her legs up and on her cell phone knowing we asked for the bill. With the rude customer service and over priced drinks, I will not be returning. read more

Let me start by saying the food here is always delicious! I immediately panicked when I saw the sign outside change from Plaza Azteca to Vida Mexicana. After stopping in a few months ago, I realized that everything stayed the same except for the name. Same food, same menu. However, The service has gone down significantly. There has been several times where I'll be waiting at the hostess stand for at least 5 minutes before even being acknowledged. There's only ever 1-2 waiters working. Now they're charging $2.99 extra if you ask for a chips and salsa refill?!? I almost thought the waiter was joking when he said that to us last week... I'm worried that this place might be closing it's doors soon since they're becoming very cheap with everything :( read more

When I first arrived it was cold in the restaurant as if they had very little heat on or none at all. The men's bathrooms were very dirty and had piss on the floor! I was really looking forward to a cold beer so I sat at the bar and asked for a draft beer from the happy hour menu. He told me that the draft beer wasn't working. I then asked if they would honor the same price for a bottle beer and he said no we cant do that! What kind of fuckin customer service is that. The fact that they wouldn't even consider a reduced price for something that was there issue sucks. Very few people there and the girl sitting behind me was very upset as she had to wait 50 minutes for her Burrito. I also felt very rushed as one of the girls that works there must have asked me every two minutes if I was ready to order.
