    Cilantro Jalapeño margarita

Very good Mexican! I had the chicken tinga taco salad- very tasty in a fresh fried taco shell. It was a a little salty but I know Tinga tends to be. Also pictured is the chicken enchiladas... Just look at that presentation! There was a different on each one, very unique! Our server was an absolute doll, very attentive, sadly I did not get her name. We appreciated that she did not rush us as we were on a date and just wanted to enjoy each other's company as we don't see each other that often. The jalapeño cilantro margarita... a must have! Had a good amount of heat to it.

It's always a flavorful time at Vida Mexicana. Vida Mexicana is our go-to sit down Mexican restaurant in the Wallingford area for lunch and dinner. It's located in the Lowe's Plaza next to Chick-fil-a. The dishes are so full of flavor, saucy and fresh. I will crave for their enchiladas. Last time I dined in, I got the Enchiladas Vegetarians. Served with a bright, colorful, green spinach sauce, the enchiladas were stuffed with freshly roasted zucchini, squash, mushrooms and corn. It's so delicious. They have a vegetarian section on the menu too. My favorite dish is the Shrimp Chipotle. A medley of shrimp, mango, pineapple, zucchini, onions, peppers in a slightly spicy, cream chipotle sauce, served over rice. This is a must try. A couple other dishes people in my group have liked are the Carnitas Tapatias and Veggie Yucatan. I do like that Vida's menu isn't overly complicated like some other Mexican restaurants. Every time we dine in, the staff and our waiters have been so nice and attentive. Everyone we encounter throws friendly vibes, from when we are first greeted in and when we leave. The restaurant hardly gets busy, likely from the other food options near by. They all don't know what they are missing.

Been all about good, fresh, salads lately. And this on sure is packed with flavor. New spot I found in Wallingford near where I have been working. And you can bet I will be back soon!

Vida Mexicana is conveniently located on Rt. 5 in Wallingford. The restaurant is fairly large and there is ample parking. I sat in the bar area for dinner, around 5:30pm. Service was fairly fast. I ordered a coconut cream margarita and it was very good. I ordered a coconut mojito post-dinner. I ordered the three enchiladas meal. I had one left over, as I'm not too crazy about ground beef. The two I had were good, but not great. The rice was cooked well, but I wasn't too crazy about the beans - maybe because I'm used to having refried beans in a Mexican restaurant? Overall, I would return, but try a new dish. No room for dessert this time, but I'll have to save room for that next time! The service was excellent.

Spicy mango, octopus and classic margarita flight!! These glasses were not small by any means.

Quick stop with the Mrs after a bit of Home Depot shopping across the road and this place has changed hands/mgmt a few times now so we thought why not. I got a margarita flight with 3 choices and the Mrs went for a single classic margarita. Drinks were great with complimentary warm chips and salsa to start with. We shared one appetizer shrimp wrapped in bacon and 3 regular tacos which had beef, chorizo and pork I think but tasted amazing with the side sauces. Sat at the bar, enjoyed the good music and atmosphere. The girl working the bar was attentive and service was very quick. Good experience and definitely yummy drinks for a quick refresher.

I came for Cinco de Mayo, & as you can imagine, it was busy. They had zoned off a portion of their lot for strictly outdoor drinking. For those who had to wait the hour for a table, it was convenient. Our party of 4 were given the same time, but Our booth took about 15-20mins. While I'm extremely grateful, I wonder how much business they lost when people didn't want to wait it out. We were sat in a dining room, on the outskirts of the bar, so we definitely heard the music & caught glimpes of a people dancing. Our pleasant waitress took the orders & even repeated them back, which I always like. If something goes wrong, you know it was the kitchen lol! I ordered table guacamole & while it coukd of used more salt, it was still delish. I could taste the lime, onion, garlic, etc. The issue I had is that the table across from us also ordered the same & they received tableside. I was disappointed, but at least I saw it made for someone else. The Taco Barbacoa wasn't as great in my opinion. While it was stuffed with shredded beef, the meat itself was dry. I poured the salsa that accompanied the complimentary chips, on top, along with some guac. The rice & beans were room temperature. I found myself urning for water. Although, my small skinny margarita was made perfectly, with a healthy amount of alcohol, it wasn't doing the job. Our waitress was a gem & made sure to check on us periodically. At one point, we did get the impression, our time was up. It was understandable, since it was a busy holiday for them. I wouldn't mind coming back on a regular night.

The service here is amazing, and it's the reason I'm giving five stars instead of four. First of all, I have a tomato allergy- I know what you're thinking, don't go to a Mexican restaurant, but I wanted to. The manager was so knowledgeable about what's in the food, that he accounted for something that we didn't think of initially, in fact we called back and he mentioned that he had already taken care of it! Now to the food, we had the guacamole, I had the carne asada tacos, and my husband had the supreme enchiladas (he doesn't have allergies!). The guacamole was pretty good. I enjoyed the tacos (they were huge)! I don't know why, but the rice and beans were so delicious- and it was just white rice. My husband loved the enchiladas, it's like a sampler platter. Definitely a great experience here!

I have really enjoyed my visits at Vida Mexicana the couple times that I've been. The food tastes really good; and the waiters have been nice. I like their enchiladas. Chips and salsa are also very fresh.

Amazing dinner tonight for my husband's birthday! They easily and comfortably accommodated 7 people for dinner. We had incredible service with an extremely attentive server. They heard it was my husband's birthday and asked if they could sing and bring him a free birthday shot! The food was fantastic and overall we had a great evening. Great job to the whole staff!

We weren't sure what we were in the mood for or why the stars lined up so kindly above us tonight, but my wife and I stumbled into pure Mexican heaven! Starting with the tortilla soup and a side of nachos we were immediately taken by the fantastic quality of ingredients and atmosphere that left us eagerly anticipating entrées. How could it get any better than it was already? My steak fajita burrito proved the impossible. I don't believe I've experienced a truly Mexican Restaurant and cuisine until now. From the $5 Sunday Sangrias to the mariachi quintet providing beautifully performed music to our delightful server Lesly, I can't say enough about the food or atmosphere. We. Will. Be. Back

Great service. Great food. Taco salad with shredded chicken was delicious and beware, the specialty margaritas are huge!

Mmmm mmmm. Don't walk.. run to this place. It's good. We actually were going to go to another Mexican restaurant and because I missed a turn and there was a lot of traffic, I said, let's just go here. So glad I did. It was a first for me and not far from "home" but had never been there. It shares the lot area as Lowe's, Panera Bread and Chick Fil-A but you can easily see it from the street. The food was INSANELY good. I had such a craving for good Mexican food and I am so glad that we ended up here. We had the enchiladas and lettuce wrap taco's and couldn't have been happier. Didn't have room for desert (what's happened to me??) but plan to be back. Go there and thank me later!

    Cheers!

If you are looking for a place to celebrate Margarita Monday or Taco Tuesday or just enjoy a great meal any night of the week, you should come visit Vida! Great taco options - I always go for the salmon ones but there is something for everyone to enjoy. Portions are good and the service is muy bueno. Even if you are just stopping by for drinks, they give every table chips and salsa! I would recommend getting the queso - it's delicious! If you see me there - cheers! And be sure to say hi!

Still a 20 minute wait. They take your phone number & call when table is ready. And the wait was fine. Cotton Hollow perserve is across the street, so a short walk over there and back worked out a perfect way to pass the time. We were seated in the bar area - at a regular table. It was decorated in a fun way - fish artwork, a tv, natural wood. We didn't quite understand the surf board that hung over the bar though? My daughter & I started with a drink - I had mango pina colada, she had a drink with gin, cranberries. Both good. Food - exceeded my expectations. I had the enchilada duo. Chicken & beef. I usually like beef better, however I think the chicken was in a mole sauce - so delicious. Husband had 2 brisket tacos that he loved. Daughter had the rice bowl (with chicken). Decided to split the churros for dessert. Came with: ice cream, Carmel & chocolate sauce. Yes - we will be back. I saw a patio outside. Warmer weather is coming

Salsa was mild. My order included the saucedo taco, pulpo taco and watermelon marg. Saucedo taco = brisket and avocado w/ onions. This was AMAZING and I will add to any future order. Pulpo taco = octopus with sauce + veg. This was OK, tasted very charred and was chewy. I was excited to try octopus, but it might not be my thing. The watermelon marg was very mild in flavor and I personally would prefer it to have been sweeter. Overall, great experience, wonderful waitstaff who split our bill perfectly, some of the food was not exactly my taste, and the wait was long. I will have to come back and find my favorite foods. The decor was very cozy and you could sit indoors or outdoors.

Okay, so at first, I wasn't planning to write any more reviews for the foreseeable future. Just…read morebecause I wrote one review recently didn't quite mean I was warmed back up to Yelp just yet, and if I'm being honest, I'm still not. Between a removed review causing me to go missing from Yelp for 6 months and losing my trust in posting my reviews here on Yelp, I let go of my Elite status and am now back to square one. But after driving my mom to Manor Inn so she could attend an event there, I decided to look up spots around there since I did spot that their wait times were going to be extensive. That's when I decided to go here and see what was good. Honestly, after I encountered the parking situations in both places and went into the restaurant, I knew I had made the right call. I was seated immediately, given a menu, and even given some complimentary chips, salsa, and a plate of refried beans sprinkled with some cheese. Now, refried beans and salsa are not foods I would normally eat because my food palette don't usually like those items. But with these tortilla chips, they were both very flavorful, and given this was complimentary, they were all the more appetizing. I should also mention that my waitress, Sayda, was very nice and prompt whenever she came to my table. Answered any questions I had, and had no problem with my orders. So from the menu, I went with the Tropical Twist, their Calamari for an appetizer, the tacos de barrio for dinner, and even ordered churros to go so I have something for when Winter Storm Fern dumps 80 million inches of snow tomorrow and into the next day. Oh, might I say, everything was delicious! I knew I couldn't have alcohol because I still had to pick my mom back up and then drive back home to Waterbury, but that Tropical Twist was a nice consolation if you can't have alcohol. The fried calamari was also another great choice. That dip it came with was so addictive it was like crack, and the perfect thing to pair with fried calamari. If there's one thing I would say could be improved, it's that they could be just a smidge more liberal with the fried coating. There were some pieces that had some small spots that had no coating at all, but nothing too major. For the tacos, MMM MMM GOOD! The meat was tender and flavorful, the presentation was great, and the consome paired deliciously with the tacos. It's definitely worth the $20 they cost. The churros were also pretty good. I can't say they were the best churros I ever had because the place that made my favorite churros ever closed down back in 2024 and had since become a dog grooming place, but if not for that, then I might make a case for that statement to be true. The chocolate syrup it comes with is divine and a nice sweet treat to finish off the night. I was in and out of the place in maybe a slight smidge above half an hour, so I would say all-in-all I'm glad I came. The place is also well decorated, bathrooms are clean, and the ambiance is inviting and casual. Now, I may still need to gatekeep a few reviews here and there, but this place was a step in the right direction in getting my confidence back in Yelp. I would definitely come back here again whenever I get a chance, and I highly recommend coming to check out this place if you're in the area. Oh, and for comparison's sake, it was an hour and a half between when I was finished here and when I could finally pick my mom back up again from Manor Inn. Take that as you will.

I called ahead to make sure they made their own michelada mix, which did not disappoint. It was more on the tangier side but delicious nonetheless. I got their chicken mole which came with white rice, different than any other mole dishes I've had before. Their white rice was some of the best I've ever had- to say the least. The refried beans were delicious (they served me tortilla chips with salsa and refried beans as soon as I sat down). The mole was a good sauce, certainly on the spicier side - hot and strong spice favor. Everything was good, I could see myself going back for a michelada and trying other things off their menu next time. I definitely won't pass up on their in restaurant fried tortilla chips, that's for sure, they were delicious. Thank you Loteria!
