I ordered a burrito around 7 pm one night here. It's a very small little taqueria in Deep River. It is decorated with colorful Mexican decor which adds to the charm. It's a take out place though - you can eat at a 3 person small counter by the window. There are no public bathrooms though. I ordered a pulled pork/carnitas burrito which was fine but not excellent. I am picky about meat & I felt the pulled pork had a strong flavor which I am not a fan of. It was a generous portion & had the requisite rice, beans, pico, cheese in it. I always try a places 3 different times to be fair to the restaurant. I will be back to try some other menu items. read more

On a Sunday afternoon we found ourselves in Deep River and decided to have lunch. Our first choice was just closing so I walked across the street and found this restaurant. I was looking for takeout for two so I settled on the non-Mexican portion of the menu and chose a meatball grinder that included carnalized (sic), onion, roasted peppers and mozzarella. This place is a little hole in the wall in Deep River. I'd ignored it on the grounds that their menu was so extensive and varied, how could it be any good? Well, it's very good, at least based on one take-out visit. I had ground beef enchiladas and an extra side of rice and beans. It was all wonderful and the care that went into preparing and packing it up was also evident. Can't wait to try some other stuff. Oh, and the owners were so pleasant and friendly. What a great spot to have in the Tri-town area!! We got takeout of shrimp tacos- AMAZING! Street corn to start was also delicious. They also have a large selection of sodas to grab with your pickup- we got a Mexican coke. We don't have many spots like this in our area and they are awesome! read more

BLUF: This is the best Mexican street food in CT, and possibly all of the east coast. I've lived in CA for years and had Mexican street food from essentially every spot of note in the San Diego and Los Angeles area. This is as good, if not better, than any spot I've had, and it's LEAGUES better than anything else in New England. The owner(?)/manager I met is from Oaxaca and wanted to bring authentic food to the area, and they did not disappoint. Highlight had to be the Al Pastor. Have not had Al Pastor like this since I moved from CA, and I've tried so many spots in both CT, RI, and MA. New take-out joint in downtown Deep River with a variety of choices on the menu. Delivery available for a small fee. Order in advance since this place is quite busy and may take longer than expected. All in all, burritos were tasty, large portions and very friendly employees. The inside is clean with plenty of space to wait. My only feedback is for the owners to rethink the use of BLACK plastic food containers and plastic bags given the health hazard controversy- and the food presentation would look so much better in a white container. We will certainly return soon to try another Mexican specialty. read more

Best authentic Mexican food in the area. Super friendly staff. We ordered the el pastor tacos and the were excellent... order was ready super qick, very fresh and came with 3 fresh homemade sauces on the side. The hot sauces are quite spicy but if you like heat you'll love them! I'm mixed on this place. Initially they were trying to make American food and pizza since it's in an old pizza restaurant. Our first purchase was the chimichanga. I was shocked to see it was a frozen product, just throw it in the fryer. Strike 1. The next mistake was trying to order a corned beef Ruben. It was greasy fatty meat definitely not brisket and the grease soaked into the bread making it inedible. Strike 2. We haven't gone bad. There are plenty of places to get good Mexican food in CT. My mouth is watering as I write this, looking at the menu of El Bracero and having the sense memory of some of the most scrumptious food I've ever tasted. Our new favorite of today is the deep fried chicken quesadilla. Yum! Fajita bowls, Birria Burrito, enchiladas and of course tacos. I could eat El Bracero street tacos daily and I'd be happy. Everything we have tried has been excellent, and we have not even started exploring the grinders, wraps, salads and burgers. I can now state confidently that El Bracero is up there with the top Mexican food places in my native California, where good tacos are a fundamental part of a happy life. read more

Take out only. No pizza as advertised. Plastic take out boxes so you should open them for the trip home so your food doesn't get soggy. And be careful crossing the road in Deep River. Not very pedestrian friendly like it was back in the day. BUT the food was on time and perfect and the staff very responsive to your questions about the menu and very and friendly. Am local (not from SF as Yelp assigned me) and will definitely be back soon. (shrimp quesadilla, bean burritos and beef tacos. Can't wait to try the Fajita bowls our usual go to Mexican. read more
