These are great tacos, the tortillas are handmade and the ingredients are fresh. We have tried almost everything on the menu and so far nothing has been greasy or upsetting to the palette. These are nothing like what you would get at a fast paced taco pit, the food is definitely elevated and we will eat Vida Taco again and again. The service is courteous and the space is very clean! Also we love that the menu is short and to the point. We are looking forward to eating on the patio in the summer now :) read more

Everything I've eaten here so far has been delicious. The guacamole is really fresh. I wish they would give you some more chips because they're delicious; they must be homemade though, so I understand why they don't just load you up. Like honestly probably the best tortilla chips I've ever had. Sirena (bacon wrapped shrimp) taco is awesome, and the Asada taco is to die for, the meat is so flavorful. Some taco places give you super full tacos, but the meat tastes like nothing. This isn't like that at all, and the tacos are still very full. The tortillas are amazing and don't fall apart when you're eating. The quesadilla is also really good. I tried a bite of my mom's pork taco, totally lived up to the steak and shrimp ones I've already tried. My dad ordered a chicken burrito and we all said it was one of the best we'd ever had. It was really well browned on the outside and gooey and delicious inside. Overall this place is totally worth it. It's real food. I've eaten there at least 4 times in the last month. Everyone complaining about the sparse decor and lack of table service has their restaurant priorities way out of wack. Lots of the dinners on the menu seem to be sold out almost every time I go, they have a board at the register that lists what they're out of that day. So my only advice would be don't get your heart set on any of those before you go, unless you call first to make sure they still have it. read more

Went in for an early dinner and was thoroughly impressed. The food was delicious! We had quesadillas, shrimp tacos, guacamole, steak tacos, ceviche and enchiladas. The chicken enchiladas we're the stand out, but we both agreed they should add steak enchiladas to the menu because the steak was flavorful and tender. I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious everything was. The service was fast and employees all kind. The place could benefit from decor improvements to make it more inviting and would be even better if you could byob or they served liquor. We will definitely be back soon! read more

Amazing local taco place. You get what you pay for if you want cheap tacos go somewhere else. These may be a dollar more, but you can taste the difference. Staff is always friendly and they have great coupons you can actually use. read more

Very disappointed. I felt the steak burrito was very bland. The tomatillo sauce was too sour. The worst part was the mud vein left in one of the two shrimps on the shrimp taco. Big turnoff. Overpriced, no parking, no reason to return. read more

This place is amazing!!! The food taste so fresh and the flavors from the tacos that I ordered did not disappoint. We ordered the carne asada tacos and the shrimp tacos. Both were extremely delicious. The handmade tortillas make for a superb taco that does not fall apart. The place is clean and the staff was extremely helpful and professional. The guys and I were excited to try this place since we all live in Homewood and frequent various restaurants in the area. We walked in and all agreed on steak burritos which we thought were $6.50 as listed on the menu board. Wrong! The total bill for 3 steak burritos and 3 Cokes came to $37!! After doing some quick math I questioned the bill and was informed that steak burritos were $9.00 which was not obviously indicated on the menu pricing unless reading till the end. Anyways, about 5 minutes into our wait we asked where were the chips and salsa for our table while waiting for our food to come out? The waiter/cook/cashier brought out 12 chips on a regular plate and a tablespoon of green salsa which was actually pretty good except for the quantity. A request for "Hot Vegetables" as they are known (peppers, carrots and onion) was met with a sharp "we don't have that here" which is a staple in every Mexican restaurant I have ever dined at. The Burritos came out about 10 minutes after ordering and were really small for a $10 lunch. We were also disappointed that no rice or beans were included for the price. The amount of steak was the death blow for any chance of us returning. Good luck with the place, your gonna need it. read more

I tried this place during the Christmas holiday, I wasn't impressed but when my son asked to go for our weekly fun food Friday I wanted to support our local business. We had the place all to ourselves, the pick of the table as the place was empty, the cashier was polite with a smile but it was clear he was a cashierand not a server as he never moved from behindthe counter.. Now we ordered chips & salsa, there was no pica de gaio but there was some type of sauce, this place is challenged in so many areas. There were no servers so we had to get our own food when it came up, they only had plastic forks and spoons which was hard to use as the tortillas for the enchiladas were over cooked and VERY Skimpy on the chicken, it was like chicken mini squared meat. I've never ordered an entree over $11 at a Mexican restaurant and it didn't include rice & beans. The flavor wasn't exciting and the balance of meat to onion & peppers wasn't balanced at all Some items were unavailable on the menu and it didn't have the dining in feel as we had to go get all of our items. It was a total disappointment in so many areas, we won't be back, the kids says the churro was under cooked in the middle read more
