I miss this salon every day! I came in with very outgrown and brassy balayage that I didn't have the time to keep maintained until my visit. My poor hair was neglected for too long, and I was recommended to see Arielle. I was pretty nervous - I have thick Asian hair, and lots of it. My hair isn't easy to work with, and many stylists in the past have failed to meet my expectations as a result. I came in knowing what lightness and tone I wanted (Goldwell, beige pearl/beige ash). Instead of telling me that she couldn't get me that light in one sitting (which is what I expected to hear since it's the response I usually get with someone new to my hair), Arielle said let's do it and started working on my hair after the consultation. Arielle absolutely nailed it and gave me even more than what I was looking for - my confidence back! I didn't add a blowout to my service as I knew my salon visits were always very long (5 hours on average) and I wasn't planning on doing anything but roll around on my couch for the rest of the day. She wanted to give me one anyway - probably because my hair just looked too good not to style and photograph! I've since moved after my first visit with Arielle. If I were still local, I would 100% continue to see Arielle. Since seeing her, I've never been fully satisfied with my balayage at other salons and with different stylists. I'm keeping my stylist anonymous because I've been loyal to this salon for years and have worked with them even longer. But this experience was so disheartening, I feel compelled to speak up. I've never colored or processed my hair before, and after two years of carefully planning a balayage, I walked out feeling unheard, patronized, rushed, and completely let down by both the process and the result. I had booked a full highlights/balayage service but was triple-booked, my stylist was juggling two other color and cut clients during the course of my appointment. That alone isn't the issue (I don't expect undivided attention), but it becomes relevant to how badly this appointment unraveled. The consultation was rushed. I came prepared with 10 to 15 reference photos and carefully explained what I did and didn't want in each. My stylist, who's normally attentive and thoughtful, seemed distracted and disengaged. They didn't ask clarifying questions, offer suggestions for my skin tone or undertone, or walk me through a clear plan. The only direction I got was a vague: "We'll do dark chocolate brown highlights." I trusted them based on our history, but in hindsight, I shouldn't have ignored the red flags. The bleach and first toning left my hair bright copper red, nowhere near the sun-kissed caramel, honey, or chocolate tones I showed. I was reassured not to panic and told that "it takes a while to get the tone right." Fair enough, I know coloring is a process. But what happened next was unacceptable. As the stylist's second of three clients arrived, I was abruptly handed off to the salon owner without any explanation. Just: "This is my boss." No briefing, no conversation. The owner then proceeded to patronize me, suggesting I was just not "used to seeing color in my hair," and even asked, condescendingly, "Do you think we were going to get anywhere today? Because your body language seems standoffish" and imitated me shrugging. I was trying, admittedly frazzled but respectfully, to explain how far off this was from what I had asked for, and instead of support, I was made to feel naïve and dramatic. They toned it again, lightly, so lightly it barely made a difference. The result looked like faded, coppery box dye: cheap and flat. I expressed clearly, multiple times, that this wasn't what I wanted. I was told to "give it a week" and "it'll lighten as you wash it." Meanwhile, the stylist and owner kept reinforcing to each other how "good" and "much better" it looked. But this was not the color I asked for. It didn't even look like a professional balayage. It was dull, uneven, and utterly off-tone. I paid $500 for this, and was practically rushed out the door. I had looked forward to this for years, and I left feeling hurt, dejected, and honestly a little humiliated. I've always had so much fondness for this place, and especially for my stylist. But this experience has left me completely shaken in my trust. I showed my hair to six friends--all of whom I had previously recommended this salon to--and every one of them said the same thing: I should have received a full refund. Instead, I'm left with damaged hair, a hole in my wallet, and the sting of being treated like an inconvenience in a place I once loved. read more

Terrible experience. Customer service was atrocious and they botched my hair. I originally went in for a single process and gloss. I had sent photos of my hair and what I wanted beforehand as well. I was quoted $250 when I got there the stylist said I need highlights and a single process and gloss. I was okay with this as long as the result came out okay. It didn't. The highlights were only put on the top part of my head, they are thick, uneven, and discolored. I wasn't told the price of anything until check out and it came out to $430 + tip. When I inspected my hair later I noticed how bad it looked. I called the next day to ask what can be done and the manager said I can come in the following day for the owner to fix it and that I wouldn't "leave unhappy" I went in for my appointment today to have my hair fixed and the owner decided she didn't want to fix it because it would take too long. I let her know I missed class to come for the appointment and she said "well no one told you to do that" she stated nothing was really wrong with my hair despite the evidence that it was messed up. I asked for a refund and she refused to give a refund or fix it. I've worked in hair salons for over 7 years and have never experienced customer service this terrible nor would I ever give service this terrible. Appalled and disappointed. read more

What a great find. I had my hair cut and colored by Emma, who literally has cut and color in her genes (both her parents have salons)....She is a wonderful, person, with great energy and after doing a very thorough intake of what I was looking for, she went to work. She is a bit OCD (which I find to be a positive trait), as she asked me every step of the way if I wanted it cut shorter, styled differently, etc, fully knowing that once the hair is cut off it cant be added back. The result was a slightly different style whichI absolutely love, perfect length and thickness and a great color. Overall, the salon is really cute, VERY CLEAN and MODERN and safety protocols very much in place. From all I have read, all of their stylists seem great, but I can safely say if you see Emma, you wont be disappointed !!! read more

I visited your salon during the summer (06/25/22) and was extremely disappointed with my experience. I called ahead to request a stylist who was experienced with cutting curly hair, and was assigned to Sean (or Shawn). Unfortunately, Sean did not do a good job cutting my hair and left me to style it myself using a hair dryer and diffuser!!! This was very unexpected, unprofessional and unacceptable. I was extremely disappointed with the level of service I received. I would not recommend your salon to anyone with curly hair, as it is clear that your stylists are not trained to properly handle it. I went to Arielle multiple times and had pretty good results for a while. I was very blonde before going to her and kept going for lowlights to break it up a lot until I was a light brown with subtle blonde highlights. It wasn't some insane hair I was obsessed with but I had a terrible experience a year ago with a guy who fried off about 1/3 of my hair, so I was hesitant to try anyone else. Today, I walked in and the first thing I said was hat my hair looks good, that I wasn't even sure about coming in, and I just want a slight refresh for the first day of school on Monday, but that my hair will likely look very similar after. I said I wanted the top just slightly darker, and the ends just slightly lighter. I said to her "kind of balayage?" and showed her two pictures, "I guess kind of like this?" I wanted something only very slightly similar to the picture. Instead I got the picture but 10x worse. Instead of a soft brunette with light blonde highlights, I got green-black roots and bright yellow blonde ombré. I expressed some concern over the yellow and the darkness of the roots but she assured me it looks way different from where she was standing, said it didn't look brassy whatsoever, and that the darkness would wash out. I figured I could tone it at home with purple shampoo, and shampoo the roots about 10 times before to fade them. While she blow dried my hair, I expressed concern again but was met with the same "it'll fade, it's not brassy" comments and at this point I was too far into an anxiety attack to figure out what to say next, except softly cry until she finished my blow-out. When she swirled me around to show me the back of my hair, I could barely feign any happiness and quickly started sobbing outside the salon. I cried for over an hour trying to figure out what to do, when Arielle came outside to get something from Rite Aid and asked me what was wrong. She assured me it looked like the picture which 1) it didn't, believe me and 2) I made it clear I didn't even want it to look exactly like the picture, I barely wanted it changed at all. She ended up saying she would fix it and I went back inside. She had an assistant wash my hair 3 times to remove the root color, and then toned it. Well, my roots looked virtually NO different, although the blonde was less yellow. I asked multiple times to just lighten the dark-brown to light-brown again but she said my hair would turn brassy quickly if we did. I told her there was no way I was keeping my hair that dark so she had to do it, and she ended up doing it- except not really. Another half hour later, the roots looked virtually the same, except maybe half a shade lighter and much warmer. Again she assured me it was "soooo much lighter", which it still wasn't, and I began to cry. Another woman came to help. She asked me if I needed highlights in the brown part, if that was the problem. I said I didn't need highlights as long as the brown was lighter, because no matter how many highlights I had- the brown needed to be LIGHTER and the blonde needed to be DARKER and less prevelant. She said that wasn't the question. I said no, I don't NEED highlightsq. We chatted for a while, I showed her a bunch of pictures. She was confident she could make my hair somewhat like the picture attached. She said highlights would break up the roots enough that it would look good so she highlighted my hair (despite me saying no earlier...) and added lowlights, I guess? I barely see any difference from the lowlights, and she did the fastest highlight job ever, which has left me with streaks of bright blonde in my extremely dark brown hair. I have the exact same terrible colored hair as before she intervened, but now all the terrible colors have been moved around a tiny bit. So I'm now 350$ poorer, with incredibly damaged hair, spent 11 AM to 6:30 PM making my hair look awful, and now have to find somewhere to color correct it before school starts on Monday (It's Thursday today). Wish me luck, and please for the love of god do not come here unless you like black and yellow hair, and hair stylists that refuse to give you what you want even when you start crying in their chair. read more

The salon itself is so pretty, it really feels like a retreat from reality. I've been taken care of by Ryan Nickulas (color and blow out) and Arielle Perez (for my curly look). Ryan took the time to get to know me, to know my personal style and to know my hair! After taking his advice, my hair is healthier and shinier than it has ever been. He convinced me to try my hair curly at least once, and left me in the hands of Arielle Perez. She taught me a few tricks on how to handle this versatile mane of mine. And unfortunately, Vicky isnt interested in more than mwa-mwaing celebrity clients. Vidov salon is a terrific find. I came here because an actress friend of mine had her long brown locks shorn and colored a beautiful shade of blonde for a film and it was nothing short of stunning! Vicki the owner is a master colorist and I trusted her to do highlights on my babyfine hair. The results were perfect and the haircut was too. The highlights were just the right shade for my complexion and very natural, which was the look I wanted. Perfect. So I will always go back. It's about trust! I actually found Alison on Instagram (@colorbyalison) and set up an appointment at the salon with her directly for the following week - it was beyond easy and she was super accommodating to my date/timing requests! I loved that I was able to see some of her real clients posted on her page before committing to an appointment instead of staged models as you see on many salon websites. As much as this is a review for the salon, it's more so a review for Fallon, the only person I will ever let touch my hair. I've been a client of Fallon for years and it doesn't matter, long, short, single process or highlights, she's done it all on my hair. We even tried the Opti straightening treatment last may after years of doing Keratin treatments to manage my wavy/curly/unruly hair! Fallon is just absolutely incredible, words don't do justice to her way with hair! Even when I slack in getting my hair done regularly, I can walk out the door and will get asked if I just recently got a hair cut, with my hair having grown out for 4-5 months... if that is not a sign of a good hair stylist, I'm not sure what would be! I've had my hair super long and super short, and my hair isn't exactly the easiest to cut and style, before straightening it was wavy and had a mind of it's own, but Fallon excels at all hair types, styles, and textures, she herself has curly hair so she knows how to deal with the unruly hair types! Above and beyond her excellent hair cutting skills, if there's one person who knows color, it's Fallon, hands down. I have naturally dark (black-brown) hair, and we've taken my hair through the spectrum of colors from blue/black, black, brown, to shades of red and some funky colors too (pink, purple, and light blue to name a few). I work in the world of banking, so Fallon has helped keep the fun in my hair while maintaining an overall "conservative look". In more recent months, I decided to go with balayage highlights which Fallon masterfully painted on my hair giving me fun but natural looking highlights. Since I started to see Fallon years ago, my hair has continuously looked healthy, shiny and well maintained. For as long as we reside in NYC, I will not see anyone else when it comes to my hair! Now onto the salon, I will say Vidov Salon is a beautiful salon! The staff is always friendly and they're always accommodating and making customers feel at home. Fallon is a true genius when it comes to hair. First and foremost, she makes you feel comfortable. She has this aura that automatically puts you at ease. Vicki is extraordinary! I recently moved from Boston and needed to find someone to take my hair to the next level. I found this salon through Instagram (she has multiple celebrity clients) and thought I would give it a try. I really wanted to give Vicki the freedom to work her creativity and gave her an overall vision of what I wanted. I was blown away! She used many techniques I never have seen before and was extremely particular on my hair cut. I never have had anyone take as much time/work as she did on mastering my hair. Which was extremely appreciated. It was obvious she is at the top of the hair game and the NYC hair queen! The salon was super cute and cozy. Not only were the other stylists/workers friendly, the other clients were also friendly. She was patient and listened to me while offering suggestions. I booked an appointment for 10:30 am on a Saturday morning, and was greeted by a lovely gentleman at the front desk, after checking me in he said I can have a seat and asked if I wanted any refreshments. My stylist Arielle came over right away, she examined my hair and asked me what I wanted, I wanted to get some layers, but at the same time keep the length. A nice young lady came by and we walked over it to get a washing and condition, she was very nice and friendly. After washing Arielle got to work on my hair and she did a phenomenal job, I am very happy! She added some protectant and curled my hair. I left a very satisfied customer! I was blonde for years and needed something fresh- she whipped up the richest red for me and spent extra time meticulously keeping pieces lighter for dimension.
