Vidrio is a perfect special occasion venue. From the moment you walk inside and see the expansive blown glass flower wall, it feels like a celebration. Our server was excellent and walked us through the menu, explaining that the small plates were the "chef's playground" and full of amazing flavors. Tasting each of the dishes felt like eating everyday foods - i.e. potatoes, carrots - for the first time. Dishes are served to the table as they are ready, and sharing is highly encouraged. I'd go back! There was good service, nice art (ambiance) and I liked the food. The glass art on the walls is really cool! It makes an interesting impression when you walk in. I'm not sure the restaurant as a whole has a unified aesthetic, though, it seems a little scattered. For example, the bathrooms are super different from the rest of the restaurant, and so is the entrance. As for the food, I would order MAXIMUM one small plate and one large plate per person. Sometimes with shared plates the portions are small. That is not the case here! There was plenty of food! I loved the hummus (I especially liked the pickled cherries they added). It was super good and interesting! I'd get it again. I also loved the whole fish. It was nice and crispy because they roasted it in their special big fire oven. They roast a number of things in the oven. I also liked the radishes on top of the whole fish. My drinks were not my favorite drinks I've ever had, but they were fine! I probably wouldn't go here if I was just getting a drink. But I'd definitely come for a whole fish and a drink. read more

I have been here twice and my experience has been perfect each time. The food is amazing and the drinks are great! The decor and ambience is absolutely beautiful! The staff is always friendly and very knowledgeable on the menu. The bartenders do not mind coming to the table and explaining drinks, if you have questions. This is definitely a menu where you order multiple things and share them. Many of the entrées do not come with sides, so just be aware when ordering. Food overall and pretty good but not outstanding, especially when you factor in the price. Rigatone was a little dry/overcooked with uni butter not really shining enough. Fried Zucchini was delicious! The lemon aioli was complimented the zucchini very well Burrata was very solid. Baked chicken was very well cooked with the garnishes working well for the dish Carolina mountain trout was a favorite among fish lovers at the table. The associated almond salad was delicious too Grilled leg of lamb was seasoned very well and the meat was cooked perfectly. The raisin chutney complimented the meat very well. The food was healthy but fabulous. Food I wouldn't normally try. Except I did not try Jim's Grilled Octopus! No thanks. Wait staff friendly and helpful. I ordered a grilled short rib. Delicious crust on outside and tender on the inside. A beet and pomegranate sauce on top. Never had that before! Jim's lamb was cooked perfectly and he said great with mint and pesto sauce. Don't book through Resy for a special occasion, according to the manager. We went here for Father's Day dinner. We typically do a nice steakhouse, but I tried something different and was disappointed that we did. We booked reservations for the dining room. We were sat in the lounge...similar to an airport lounge - not great. I talked to both the host and the manager about why our reservations did not match what we had booked. Neither seemed to care. This Mediterranean inspired restaurant opened in downtown Raleigh four years ago. The restaurant shares a building with the Carolina Ale House, and has a very vibrant, colorful, multi level dining space. The wide open floor plan is lined with many very extravagant, modern chandelier's, it really gives off a vibrant energy one would usually experience when dining out in NYC. Our corner table overlooked the entire dining room, it was a very energetic atmosphere! The impressive wine list boasts a sophisticated selection of wine, better by bottle of course, unfortunately my choice pick was absent from the wine cellar that evening. Our wonderful host assisted in selecting a similar bottle and complimented it by delivering a wonderful artisanal cheese board. The chickpea hummus sprinkled with aleppo pepper had a very smooth and workeable texture. The slight pooling of olive oil on top not only brought an added flavor to the hummus, it made it quite easy for dipping the pita bread. A hand cut fettuccini entrée catches my eye every time, I had to try it! Fettuccini noodles can typically come two ways, wide and heavy or narrow and light. My assumption was correct, the noodles in this entrée were narrow and light, they were coated in bacon cream and truffle butter with a poached egg resting in the middle. The pleasant rich flavor of the sauce paired very well with the egg and the texture of the sauce maintained itself until the end, unlike many less quality fettuccini dishes which become tacky and stiff as they cool. A desert menu that is anything but common is always a pleasant surprise and an invitation to try something new. The chocolate buttermilk cake is not what you would expect at Vidrio, It is a very unique presentation. The chocolate cake was prepared and served in a very unconventional manner, it was quite rich and smooth and distinctly complimented by a hint of fresh mint. Add a coating of cardamom syrup, a scoop of baklava ice cream and you have one very delicious Chocolate Buttermilk Cake. Vidrio has a very lively and comfortable dining room, the menu was very appealing. The tables being strategically spaced, with guests seated to ensure more than proper distancing made for a safe and very enjoyable dinner. I would say this restaurant is really fulfilling their potential, wonderful food and wonderful service. An excellent addition to Glenwood Ave. Cheers! read more

First off, WOW! Absolutely delicious dishes. We also had the olives but I didn't get a picture. When I've tried octopus in the past (always as sushi), I didn't like it. I'm always open to trying again and I wasn't disappointed at all. I would get that over and over. Same with the beans. I'm not a fan of Lima beans until now, although they looked more like butter beans. The creamy fettuccine was spectacular as was the bread. Those beef skewers had amazing flavor and the yogurt sauce was good enough to lick the plate. The drinks were delicious and unique. The spicy salt on the pear margarita was also good enough to lick it all up, which I did since nobody would notice. The grilled romaine was perfect. I didn't get to try the pork belly but our friends were raving over it. The atmosphere was awesome and so was our bartender, Kiara. She's beautiful and always has a smile on her face. Next time we're in town, I'm sure we'll return. If you want some delicious food, this place is a MUST. read more

Let me first say I'm not a huge Italian foodie. It's not my first choice usually. That being said, I couldn't resist the temptation that Vidrio's stylish interior and curated, reasonably priced menu offered. I'm glad I gave in, because the food and drink I had there were perfecto. The handmade pasta and sauce with egg were decadent and indulgent, which is what I submit to enjoying at a nice Italian place. Everything about the place was warm and artfully modern. We came here for my wife's graduation dinner with a large party (~16 people). They were very accommodating, providing a semi-private room and adjusting the reservation as needed. Although the server seemed a little timid and overwhelmed, he was friendly and attentive. The food was mostly incredible. We ordered almost every appetizer and several of each. By the end of the appetizers we were full but still had our main courses to look forward to. Some standout appetizers were the olive/nut bowl, hummus, and beef tartare. I had the trout which was light and briny. My wife had the risotto which was filling and creamy. Great atmosphere and food. Vidrio has been on my list of must try restaurants in the Raleigh area. This is a lovely restaurant with great ambience and it's nicely decorated. They have space for large events in a private room, which is a nice option. Stopped in on a Saturday night without a reservation, so we opted to sit at the bar. They offer a nice wine selection and cocktails. We ordered a few drinks shared a cheeseboard along with cornbread and I enjoyed their salad. Their food was delicious and I enjoyed the touch on the menu which shows the local source used for the food. I hope to be back soon with a reservation. read more

Definitely felt super aged going in here, but once we got seated the staff was amazing! Breanna took the time to walk us through the menu, make recommendations, and then made sure throughout dinner we were taken care of and enjoying everything. Check out the hanger steak and the pumpkin risotto...both phenomenal! My girlfriends and I decided to have dinner on a Thursday night at Vidrio. It was Triangle Restaurant Week and how could one pass up those specials. I made reservations for 6:30 for the four of us. So you know, half of your party needs to be present before you're seated. Vidrio is is beautiful inside and out. There is street parking and a nearby garage. When you walk to the front entrance, there's a cool waterfall and the entrance doors are grand. We were seated on the upstairs, it's sort of like a loft area that overlooks the entire restaurant, so beautiful. The entire restaurant is beautiful, everything from the seating to the light fixtures. At the bar, there are two sides, both with bar seating and tables. So if you ever get there and can't get a table in the main dining room, the bar seating is a great option. Eddie was our server and he was great, very attentive and did a great job handling 4 women that hadn't been out together yet this year. He helped us pick the best drinks by asking what we liked and he picked the perfect ones for each of us. They have amazing cocktails and over 80 wines. There's also beer and mock tails. Everything looks delicious on the menu, but of course for Restaurant Week, there is a preselected menu, but the options were perfect. We had the Grilled Romaine and Moroccan Beef Skewers as appetizers. Three of us ordered the Lamb Tagine as our entree, and I had the Coq Au Vin. All selections were delicious, the lamb was absolutely the most tender and flavorful ever. The Chicken was delicious as well, and came with mashed potatoes, so much flavor. Eddie told us they they put the Ricotta Beignets, with a chocolate sauce for dipping, back on the menu just for Restaurant Week, so we ordered that and the Delce de Leche Gelato (separate desserts), all really good. Everything from the ambiance, the staff, the drinks and the food made it a perfect girls night out. I can't wait to go back! read more

Vidrio is a stellar spot for a bunch of small plates, just be ready to drop a good bit of cash. My husband and I went for dinner over the weekend and it was $110 before tip and we didn't leave feeling stuffed. However we did leave happy with all of our dishes. My favorite is to sit in the bar area with the open windows and the casual tables. They really have set up a great ambiance. I also recently went to a wedding here which was awesome as well! The wedding took over the upstairs and it was wonderful! My favorite dishes are the short rib bolognese, the salmon, and the charred octopus. It was the best octopus I have ever had-- perfectly charred and tender on a bed of chorizo sauced beans. The salmon is always cooked perfectly and the short rib melts in your mouth. On my most recent trip we tried out some of the sorbet and it was amazing. Something I would never usually order, but I am 100% sold on them now. Service is always friendly and on point! One bummer is that they are now charging $4 for valet when it was previously free. I feel like when you can easily drop a $100 on dinner for two the valet should be free especially since parking is notoriously tricky on Glenwood South. read more

Unfortunately I was unaware that it was reservation only for a table so we had to sit at the car which was a bit loud but overall still a good experience. That was outstanding. For entrees we had the steak, chicken and whole fish. The fish was the lone negative. While cooked perfectly, the choice of fish, Mediterranean Sea bass (?) was way too bony for that presentation. Every bite had bones in it - wasn't anyway to get around them. I've eaten this presentation before , one of my favorites actually. This is the ONLY reason for not being 5 stars. The steak was good and the chicken was really good. I really didn't like the downtown Raleigh food scene until I ate at Vidrio. It's one of my favorite restaurants in town and where I usually take visitors. I recommended this to some coworkers visiting town and everyone raved about every single dish. We usually get appetizers and entree to share for the table since we want to try everything. All delicious but I dream about the Buffalo butter pasta. It comes as it's own huge bowl plain with no meat. We usually share it in the same way you'd get a huge bowl of rice on the side. The restaurant wasnt that busy but theres very loud music and 0 sound dampening. Food was meh - for one thing, my steak came out 7-8 minutes prior to her fish so i had basically finished my meal before hers even got to the table. I've worked in food service for years both on front of house and back of house and that is just pathetic. my steak was $48 for a 5oz NY strip that had some pureé underneath, there was no veg or starch with the dish which is just wild for that price. My wife got a halibut that she said was very fishy but the lentals were good. The app and drinks we got were the best part of the night, we got beef skewer which were great. All and all there are far better experiences for the price and if you'd like to hear your dinner date during the meal or would like your food at the same time this is not the place for you. read more

Our bartenders Taylor and Lex were so kind and attentive while we ate and drank at the bar, and their drinks were out of this world! We ordered the Kast Away and a Moscow mule and they did not disappoint. For food we had the roasted beets and Moroccan beef skewers. The whipped goat cheese on the beets was so good I wish I could drink it, and the flavors were so well balanced. The Moroccan beef skewers were so juicy and the sauce that was paired with them was divine. Get the mule, it's super refreshing. Food: Meat and cheese - we enjoyed it but honestly it was kinda basic. Go to guglhupf in Durham if you really like charcuterie boards. 3.5/5 Eggplant dip: 4/5 the flavor was nice but you can also get better ones at local Mediterranean places. Oysters: 3/5 while fresh there was a lot of shell shards that I kept having to pick out. Again I would prefer 42nd or Cortez for this Whole fish: 3.5/5 I thought this was grilled quite nicely but the flavor was kinda salty and otherwise basic.
