Vegetarian review. I had the vegan pho (pho chay) with fried tofu and the tofu banh mi. Both were simple and delicious. The pho had a light, aromatic broth and was filled with a hearty amount of vegetables. I was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion of noodles that came with the soup. The sandwich had a light, fluffy bread and some pickled carrots and daikon. Together, those items came to about $20.00. Both items were great and I'll definitely go back to this restaurant when the craving for pho returns. read more

Went there for dinner, and was very disappointed! Pros: clean... Cons: lots of noise, no sound deadening, slow waitress... had to ask for forks and knives. We (wife and me) both ordered Pho, which was almost tasteless (the broth should have been further reduced so enhance the flavor). New location....definitely nicer but very "bland" and SUPER NOISY! There were kids screaming that put a huge damper on the evening because the ceilings are high, no soft surfaces to soak up noise so not very relaxing. The menu seemed smaller and what's up with drinks? They don't serve ICE TEA? Don't you just brew hot tea and put it on ice? So...we only had water because they couldn't tell us what beverages were available. I did manage to get them to bring me a tiny wedge of lime for my water. Food was good, but smaller. Not as much meet in the Bun bowl. Fresh spring rolls were very good. We had to go get our own take home boxes and you have to walk up to pay and there was a line. I'm sure we'll go back and they seem much more popular at their new location, but I think they have a few things to work out at their new HOT spot. read more

Save your money. Service is non-existent. Server YELLS at the kitchen ORDER! Tried to order the crispy tofu on the side of the entree to keep crunchy, denied. "We can't do that" was the response. The chicken in my wife and I's entree looked like the Turkey roll slice from the grade school cafeteria from the 1970's. My daughter indicated the Pho Ga was good, thus the 2 stars. Finally had the opportunity to visit Vien Dong at their new location. The new venue is far superior to the old location on Sprague. From my perspective, this place makes the best spring rolls in the region. Rolled in tapioca wrap, the shrimp and tofu spring rolls are fantastic. Also ordered the Mongolian beef which was tasty and spiced to the level I asked for. So four spring rolls and an entree came to $20 and change with tax for takeout. This is prety reasonably priced given the switch to a much larger restaurant site that needed to be gutted after years of no use. I'll be back ~ especially for the spring rolls and the pho. read more

I didn't think I liked pho until I had it here. It has just the right amount of flavor and it's delicious. I also had stir-fry chicken and was very impressed. Unassuming joint offering mainly viet food. Seems like a clean restaurant. I ordered the #48 plate which looks good and tastes ok, but I have to say the quality of the food seemed and tasted a bit subpar. This may be due to this menu item not being a particularly popular one or ordered often, but it kind of tasted old and like the meat and such were all just reheated. Maybe I just had higher expectations. But i left with a bad taste in my mouth. So maybe try ordering popular food items that may be fresher. read more

Must try the Pho!! As long-time Pho lovers, we had tried many places in Spokane but had a definite favorite up north. When Vien Dong moved into their new location near our office we had to try them out. To make a long story short - Vien Dong is now our hands-down favorite place for Pho! Their selection of meats and additions is more varied than some places but it is the super flavorful Pho broth that is the secret. My husband and I love this place. I had # 42 today Beef Lemongrass noodle bowl and it was delicious. I eat either the chicken or tofu version often and it's always super yummy, but today the beef bowl was exceptional. There are also tons of veggies in these dishes which I love. I have been coming to Vien Dong since they opened their doors. I have always always enjoyed their delicious food. This time when I went, I ordered the special chowmein soft noodles and barely had any noodles. When I asked for a side of noodles to go so I can add them to the surplus of extra vegetables that I had for dinner they said they do not have a side order of chowmein noodles. Completely understandable. However, a long time ago when I ordered the same noodles with extra noodles there was absolutely no flavor, just noodles tossed into the original recipe. I may have to think twice about how I order and very specifically ask for extra noodles and sauce when I order next time. So a big plate of veggies and chicken just went into the garbage. How sad. I still love their food though. I also asked for no shrimp and extra bbq pork and this happened to me last time as well, there was no extra bb pork. I'm Just a little upset with the quantity of noodles and meat. So next time I will have to say it very simple and in a clear precise order. If it doesn't turn out then it goes back until it's right. read more

Disorganized, to say the least. Dirty tables everywhere. When we were seated we weren't given menus and just sat there and had to wait many minutes before someone came by and brought us menus. We didn't get water until we asked for it. We ordered pho and lemongrass chicken. The food took a very long time to arrive despite the restaurant being less than half-full. The lemongrass chicken was good, but the pho broth was loaded with MSG. We had to ask for Chopsticks napkins and silverware. We waited 15 min to pay. Terrible experience. read more

Food was good, service was bad. I suggest carry-out. The interior of the space is baron and seemingly thrown together. We watched a lot of people walking in for carry-out. Maybe this is part of why our waiter was a ghost. He was not familiar with the menu and seemed to be checked out and uninterested in helping us make a decision. I really loved eating here, we went for mother's day and both me and my husband got Chicken Fried Rice and it was the best fried rice I've had in a long time! So much flavor, it didn't need Anything added to it and that's how you know it's great! We also got the egg rolls which I loved, nice and crunchy, and I also got the bubble tea, strawberry flavor and it was Sooooo good I've been craving another one for 2 days since eating there. Haha.
