My Seiko watch after battery was replaced someplace else wasn't working. In November Took watch to this place thinking they have integrity and are established in Vienna. When I dropped watch off explained battery isn't the issue. Got a text a few weeks later watch is ready. Picked up asked him what work did they do and again pointed out the battery wasn't the issue. He couldn't explain and had no notes to explain what had been done. Watch worked for couple hours and stopped that night. So far charge was $45 for no one knows what they did. Took watch back to him reviewed everything again and he said he will "check it"!!! Not to be heard from again! Today, January 28 not having heard anything from them stopped at the shop, the assistant who is a kind innocent man pulled the watch and ticket written on it $350!!! I had zero notifications, no one called or texted to ask if it is ok to repair a $200 watch at cost of $350 plus $45 already paid. Assistant called the owner by phone, the guy yelled and screamed at me and ranted on... gave phone back to assistant , the owner showed up and proceeded to yell and shake his finer at me. My contention was why didnt anyone contact me first to ask if it is ok to charge and repair at cost of $395!!! first he said he made a mistake then accused me of lying about receiving text notification. The owner took my watch cussed me out and told me I was as old as my watch while shaking his finger at me. I was yelled at and abused verbally. He opened the back and removed something. Was not able to repair an antique fine watch he held for almost a *year* despite frequent follow-ups. He has no idea where the watch is now. We are incredibly sad and upset; it was a family heirloom originally from another country. It's irreplaceable and we are heartbroken that we trusted this place. read more

I had a Kate Spade watch and the battery was dead so I took it here. It was a bit hard to find, down the stairs in a building behind Vienna Vintner. Service:(5/5: I waited for this to be repaired by Guido, the nice older gentleman who was working. It took about 3 minutes for him to replace the battery! I inherited two antique watches from my father. One belonged to my grandmother and both were originally made in the 1880s. After visiting one horologist, I was told that the watches were beyond repair. However, after brining them to Guido at GC LA Precision, he informed me that they were not beyond repair. In fact, he had to machine new parts for both watches and replace one main spring. So, after two months both watches are in good working order and keeping excellent time! Took in an antique watch for repair and was quoted $500 to fix it. I apparently needed a mechanism to be "created" for it to get the gears to work. When I asked how much it'd cost to fix...he asked are you rich. I picked it up, after the repair, the watch stopped working after running for a minute or so. I called to have it looked at again. Guido admitted he forgot a step and recalibrated the watch. We were preparing for a move and I told him we needed it back beforehand. I was told it'd take a week and he guaranteed it'd be done before the move. It took over a month to fix and had to have the watch mailed to me. However, what I wasn't told was that I'd be charged another couple hundred bucks to get my watch back. He refused to send without my card information and payment of the charged amount. The watch still wasn't working... I would not recommend this place. read more

Never ever will go to this store. The owner and the employees are very rude. I brought my non high-end brand watch (sorry, I am broke) and they said it is not worthy of their time to fix. Guido (the owner) said he would rather fix rolex than spending his time on my watch. Well said Guido. A fancy Tyson's jewelry store has always sent it off for battery replacement and I've had to go without the watch for two weeks or so, but Vienna Watch had an estimate for me within an hour, and had the watch completely repaired and ready in less than 24 hours. Unable to access- went by on lunch break on a Tuesday. It says online they're open but their gate is locked and the bell the sign says to ring is non-existent. I saw another person try to enter as well, and they left. I'm going elsewhere too. Terrible transaction. Bought a disassembled Seiko 6139 for $700 (fair price for a fully functional and serviced 6139) in April with the promise the watch would be overhauled and sent to me within a month. Three months later (July) received the piece. Totally incorrect crown installed (thus not turning the inner bezel) and within a week the chrono would not reset at all. Guido specifically texted to me in July that the watch was "overhauled" but when I told him of the problems he said he sold it to me "as is" (impossible, of course , because it was in pieces) and if I wanted him to work on it I could send it back and it would take 6 months and cost about $650.00! Apparently, he simply assembled the parts and sent me the watch without anything further. To boot, he accused me of damaging the watch and tampering with it. Preposterous, of course, because I communicated the defects to him shortly after receipt. We are now in a dispute. Plenty of watchmakers in NOVA. The hubristic attitude, accusations and unprofessionalism (not to mention suspect work) were pretty shocking. I would steer clear. read more

My vintageTudor Oyster had a broken lug. I had slipped on ice and landed on the arm that contains the pin. Two or three shops turned me away saying it could not be fixed. My old watch shop in London said that was rubbish and a proper craftsman could do it. Guido gave me a fair price and the work was just splendid. Place is difficult to find being behind a shopping plaza and in the basement of a building in the back. The gentleman that fixes watches is very knowable and you pay for this . $600-700 to fix older men pocket watches. $120-220 to fix basic $35 dollars watches. Ok but then he was rude as he says unless you hire me I am very busy so I cannot take anymore time discussing your watches. Also part of the reason it takes a little time is because he has an accent and there is a plastic shield between you that makes it difficult to hear and understand . Could have been a fine learning experience but the rudeness and price is a turn off. read more

I called for an estimate to get my watch band resized. Since I have an underlying condition that makes me vulnerable to covid I asked if they wear masks. He seemed very offended at the question. He said that customers are required to wear masks but that he does not wear a mask in his shop. He said he is vaccinated but he regarded my questions as inappropriate and invited me to take by business elsewhere. read more

Master watch maker, consummate professional, and a genuinely nice guy who loves watches. Impeccably restored my father's vintage omega which had rust in the movement. The 1960s watch runs within -1 second a day now, per it's original COSC spec, and looks nearly new. Highly recommended for Omega service. He tells me he is a former Rolex technician instructor, and is one of few in the who can service the newest Omega Co-Axial movements. We're lucky to have him in the area. read more

I recently left Guido a vintage Seiko 6105 for cleaning-this watch was purchased used, and was supposedly fully serviced. However, within a week of getting the watch, it stopped repeatedly, and finally stopped completely. Guido showed me exactly why the watch wasn't working, and took the time to explain his process. He even timed the watch I was wearing as I waited! I am a bit of a "watch-guy," and it's hard to find someone to trust with your precious watches, especially the vintage pieces. Guido is a true artist, and not only knows his stuff, but shows a passion for horology in general. Prices are fair, and work is done in a timely fashion. The repair shop is not huge, or beautiful (unless you like the look of a true workplace) but it is honest, and fully-equipped. I am fortunate enough to live in the general area, and will definitely be bringing him some more pieces to work on. I have no doubt he can perform similar excellent quality work on any watch you bring in to him. Now-I just have to decide what to bring him next! read more

Background... I have a 20+ year old watch that I wear daily. It stopped working properly despite battery change so I took it to a different local watchmaker/jewelry shop (not GCA) who repaired and serviced it. Problem is, I had nothing but trouble with the watch after that watchmaker touched it - the first two problems were related to the work that was done (2 case clamp screws left off reassembly, and then the seconds hand came off). The third issue (crown broke off) may be attributable to age/wear, but when I brought it to him to repair he couldn't source the crown replacement and told me to take it to an authorized dealer. I took the watch to Guido and was pleased and impressed. He has a true workshop, he's all about watches (no jewelry). He is professional, courteous and nice. He looked at it and noticed that even though I paid to have the watch serviced, not all the gaskets were replaced. So he replaced the crown and all the gaskets for very reasonable fee and the watch is good as new again. I highly recommend him to anyone that wants quality/professional service from bona fide watchmaker. I too feel lucky to have him in our area! read more

I called ahead of time to discuss getting a newer Rolex (2017) polished and have a bezel replaced. The watch had some hairline scratches and one of the links was damaged, barely! I spoke to Guido Alave ("master watchmaker"). Explained in detail, on a recorded call, exactly what I wanted done. He quoted me $150, on a recorded line, and I accepted. When I got there he explained that he'll need a couple of more days and I can pick it up Saturday morning. I get there Saturday morning, he's not there, another guy is, and the watch is missing. After 15 minutes of looking here and there, the guy finds it and hands it to me to inspect it. I can see right away that he had done a terrible job. The guy did not want me to take the watch out "for security reasons" so I can check in sunlight, and I now know why. 80% of the scratches are still there, he wasn't able to switch the bezel, which was purchased from the number 1 aftermarket Rolex accessories company in the world, that guarantees all of their products fit and the waterproofing. It's not my personality to argue, so I was willing to pay the $150 and leave, again, even with him not swapping out the bezel. The cashier then tells me it's $250 which is where out of principle I had to draw the line and refused. I explained to him that Guido had quoted me $150 for the polish and bezel. He then called Guido who got on the phone with me, and again explained how he is a master watchmaker, he typically does $100,000 jobs (out of a moldy basement in Vienna) and he did this for me as a favor (even thought we've never met before this time, I never asked for a favor or discount, and he never said I typically don't do this type of work etc, in fact he said he does this, just bring it in). After a bit of back and forth, I paid the $150, and left with my watch being in just as bad of a shape as I took in in on, and a headache. Do yourself a favor and find a professional to work with, and based on my experience, this guy isn't it! read more

I have used Vienna Watch and Clock repair for a number of years with good results, however the last time I was there Guido tried to substitute an inferior watch for my old Elgin pocket watch. After I brought it to his attention, he offered me another watch in its place and said he would try to "find" my watch. 3 weeks later I returned to the store to try to get my watch back, but he had not located the watch and admitted to only calling one person he might have given the watch to by mistake. At that point he asked for the watch back he had given me, because he admitted IT WAS SOMEONE ELSE'S WATCH. I was flabbergasted. I returned the stolen watch, but unfortunately I am out of luck with my sentimental Elgin packet watch from the 1890s. He did promise to keep looking for the watch, and if it gets returned, I will be happy to update this review - But beware! read more
