My favorite item here is the stuffed chicken wings. It is an entire fried chicken wing with the bones removed and stuffed with ground chicken, onions, and herbs. It was served with a sweet and spicy sauce which provided a tasty contrast. I ordered the vegetarian Tom Kha and it was served with a lot of different vegetables. The flavor of the soup was good, but not as strong as I would have preferred. It was served in a dish with a heating element in the center so it stayed very hot during our meal. The basil fried rice with chicken did not contain much basil or chicken. The flavor was good, however it was lacking ingredients such as vegetables and meat. The green curry was tasty and contained a decent amount of veggies and chicken. The eggplant and chicken were tender and my favorite part of the dish. There is a mandatory 18% gratuity charged for 5 people or more. There are no booster seats for children. There is an extra 4% charge for credit card payments. I thought everything I ordered was pretty good, not amazing. I got the following: Basil Fried Rice, Green Curry, Tom Kha, Stuffed Chicken Wings and a side of Jasmine Rice. The Basil Fried Rice didn't have much basil. We choose chicken as the protein for both and rice and curry and they don't put much in it. The Green Curry is typically one of the spiciest/hottest curries at other Thai places I've been to, but the menu described it as mild. I wouldn't describe this dish as mild spice, it definitely had a kick to it. The Tom Kha really wasn't as coconut forward as I hoped it would be, it actually had a very fishy taste, which I wasn't fond of. They do charge 18% gratuity for parties of 5 or more (even though in my case one member wasn't eating and the other was a kid, and they spent the majority of the time outside the establishment). It's not a huge place. There's no sign marking the restaurant is here, just the name on the door. I might go again to try other dishes, but I thought it was an all-around average-to-good meal. read more

This dining out experience was very nice. Started out with being sat right away upon arrival as there were only three other tables occupied. A menu was provided. Looked through the menu but I did not find specialty drinks so I asked and that menu was verbalized with maybe 3 options. Last time we were here was last year with my cousin and husband. We had a lovely meal. Since then I believe the menu has changed a little. This time we though we'd mix it up and ordered the eggplant and the red pork curry. I thought they were both new dishes, but after they arrived I believe we've had them before. Both dishes were delicious. I really liked the big chucks of eggplant in the sauce. It was very tasty. I'm glad we got the extra bowl of rice. The fried pork was also good in the red pork curry. I would order both again. They do charge I believe 4% extra if you use a card. We weren't prepared to pay with cash so we sucked it up and paid the 4% as I think many people do. We just don't carry cash around anymore and now the penny is no longer in circulation we probably will never have exact change. The decor is really nice, but very low hanging. My in-laws lived in Laos and they said that the larb here was authentic! The food was good overall with excellent authentic Thai and Lao flavors. I recommend the basil fried rice and larb. SMALL FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE: The menu clearly stated an automatic 18% gratuity for parties of five or more, which applied to our party of nine. When I went to pay, the system prompted me for an additional tip. Fortunately, I remembered the menu policy and double-checked with the cashier, who confirmed the gratuity was already included. My favorite place for khao poon! It's kind of hidden, tucked into a small plaza near a gas station. I heard there was a connection with Laos Kitchen (my usual go to place). This place is good for smaller parties, the place itself is small. If you pay in cash, there's a small discount. Pros: I have tried multiple dishes from here and loved every one that I've ordered. I normally order khao soy, khao poon and the stuffed chicken wings. Lots of flavor and very hearty. Staff are friendly and check on you regularly. Cons: if you have a big party, make a reservation or go when it's outside of lunch and dinner hours. We went with a party of 8 and had to wait awhile for tables to clear up. read more

Repeat customer. I tend to stick with the Khao Soy soup (wide noodles, meatballs, shrimp). One instance I tried the Khao Poon (chicken) but didn't love the spicy broth as much with the vermicelli noodles. The Thai iced tea is fine. I also recently had the green curry rice plate with chicken, and this was very monochromatic. They used the smaller round Thai eggplants (green) rather than the purple, and this also had basil, lemongrass, and bellpeppers I believe? Not a lot of visual contrast, but man did the curry itself have a kick! Didn't specify ahead of time what level of spicy but I survived with the help of Thai iced tea. The garlic pork and red curry beef rice plate is also popular with my various dining companions, as well as some of the fried rice dishes, pad si ew or drunken noodles. I've also tried the mango and sticky rice dessert too. According to the table tent, on Thirsty Thursdays they have half off alcoholic drinks too. Cash is preferred as there is an additional charge for using Clover. On one instance, the card system was down and I had to Venmo the restaurant guy to pay for my lunch. Note that the construction is mostly done but the signage for all of the individual businesses in this complex is still not up on the stucco portions, look to the business windows and doors for vinyl names. read more

I took my parents here for dinner and we absolutely loved it. We devoured everything we ordered! We got the Vientiane Tower, the steak and sauce, and two extra orders of jasmine rice not realizing that both dishes already came with sticky rice (note to future self!). My parents can be pretty picky when it comes to food, but they raved about all the different dishes in the tower and especially the steak. The chicken larb was a bit spicier than expected (we asked for mild), but it was still so flavorful I couldn't let it go to waste. Service was great! Our waitress was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed, including water refills without having to flag anyone down. The restaurant is tucked away in the back of the complex, so definitely use Google Maps to find it. Inside, it's clean, cozy, and well-kept. The waitress was fast super friendly and helpful with suggestions. She told us everything up front. The guy in the back making the food. They are super efficient. Drinks came out quick and then the food. Overall prices were good it just wasn't the best thai food I have had but also not the worst. Its a more trendy vibe type of place and they had plenty of people order to go and come in. Would I go back probably not. But its worth trying so you can form your own opinion. The flavor for the khao poon was there. It isn't coconutty like most restaurants try to do to water down the flavors of most Lao households. The papaya Lao style was great both in the restaurant and on door dash, my only complaint per door dash is portion (so small!). The stuff chicken was good too, and it isn't a frequent dish i order. Sandy was so kind and patient, even though it was late--she made sure my order was exactly how I needed it. I can't handle much spice, and she went out of her way to adjust the dishes so they still had amazing flavor without being overwhelming. The food was absolutely delicious--fresh, authentic, and so comforting. Every bite reminded me of home. You can really taste the care and love that goes into their cooking, and that alone makes this place special. What really impressed me is how well it held up as takeout. One of the best spots for Lao and Thai food! I'd never been here before, but my friends are regulars and recommended it for dinner. We had a party of seven and were seated promptly. Our server (young female) was super friendly and she recommended the top favorites on the menu. Our table ordered the Vientiane Tower ($53.99) which includes a little of every appetizer plus some others ordering Khaopoon ($13.95) and Khaosoy ($13.95). The food was served quickly, and we enjoyed the tower's presentation. Although everything was fresh and excellent, I wished they had supplied more food for the money we spent. I did not sample any of the noodle soup meals, but my friends stated they were really tasty. Overall, I would return to try their other menu options. They serve a range of Lao and Thai cuisine that would satisfy anyone's appetite. There is plenty of seating inside, and the wide windows provide plenty of natural light. Pretty hard to find because they're doing construction in the entrance so not the most appeasing on the eyes but the inside is a small little ma and pa shop and the food is what's important here! Service is always great here so that's a plus. The beef noodle soup was delicious! Soup base has a bit of spice and a kick which I like but is just filled with citrus flavors! The Lao sausage is the most flavorful sausage I've ever had. It's a bit dry but it's so tasty..loaded with herbs, pork, and flavor. Red curry and garlic pork plate was super tasty as well and although it looks heavy, it wasn't greasy. Egg rolls I could pass on- nothing special there. My major complaint and reason I won't be back is that it was basically just broth. VERY VERY little ingredients. I got mine with shrimp and there were very few and very small shrimp. If you haven't had lao sausage before, give it a try. They're a little sweet and have herbs, plus a nice sauce to go along with it. I could eat these nonstop! This place was okay. It had its positive and some eh. Let's start off with what we ordered. We got: chicken spring rolls, chicken laab (spicy level 7/10), well done Steak, Thai Style papaya (mild). My sister and I eat somewhat different so this is just my review and opinion not hers. I didn't care for the papaya salad because I like spicy Lao Style (I would like to come back and try it), the spring rolls I ordered and it didn't taste like anything. The peanut sauce helped a little but I was not impressed or satisfied. My sister likes her steak more on the well done side (and I like mine medium) however even tho the steak was more cooked than I like it to be it was very juicy and flavorful. I also love eating it with the pepper sauce. My chicken laab could have been more spicy but it was the best dish! Very flavorful and delicious paired with sticky rice. The waiter was very nice and seated us right away. Our food came out fairly fast and didn't have to wait long. He was nice and checked in on us. I was sad I didn't get a water refill tho. Also the bathroom didn't have any hand soap :( Place is small but clean and cute. All in all I would go again... but try the food in the style and spicy level that I like. The khaopoon was not bad, but more on the coconutty side. The pad Thai tasted like there was ketchup in there. From the tower platter the larb was good and the fried jerky I'm guessing was delicious. I loved the meatballs. That was probably the star of the show. The Lao style Papaya salad was decent. We also had drinks and the duck bath drink was very sour. Don't recommend, it was just cute for a picture. Overall we had a party of 4 with one toddler and the bill was $200. My friend gave a 18% tip on top of our bill without looking at what was charged. We realized the lady did not even care to say anything about a gratuity charge for our party. I honestly thought you add that for a party of 6. They also charged almost $6 just for using your card. My fiancé and I were so excited to try this place out! It's located in West Sac near the gas station. We walk in and noticed it's a pretty small space, but it's cute! We came around 1pm on a Thursday and it was pretty busy. Unfortunately, we came a little too late because they had run out of the stuffed chicken wings we came to try out. So we went ahead and ordered their Lao Sausages, Lao Style Papaya (Hot), Khao Soy, a side of sticky rice, and a Thai Tea. Their Lao Sausages were pretty good considering they're frozen, it could've been a little more herby but nonetheless we enjoyed them. I saw this restaurant on Instagram via @hungrydanz and manifested a midweek trip to Sacramento (I live about an hour away). Unfortunately, they ran out of what I wanted to try (stuffed chicken wings) but everything else I ate was delicious! Pork Eggplant - pretty good! I liked that it came with fried egg and shrimp in addition to the pork - doesn't come with rice so I had to get a side Papaya Salad (Lao style) - this was my fave dish we got - I got Lao style which includes fish paste in the sauce , so good!
