Laos style beef soup with little bit of bile and pepper for favour, side order of sticky rice.
    A S.

This is a relaxed family-owned spot serving up traditional southeast Asian cuisine. They also serve American french fries as well. The food look amazing. I had the traditional Laos style beef soup with side of sticky rice. The soup and the sticky rice goes well together. If you crave Laos foods and happen to be in the neighbourhood, I highly recommend this restaurant. Excellent and friendly owners. I highly recommend this place to anyone that loves Laos/Thai foods. I would definitely comeback to this establishment again.

Best Lao food in the north! The only thing I don't care for is the service fee, I was never explained to, or alerted of? Other than that, they have decent Laos Food.

First time trying this spot out with my husband, I am currently pregnant with our first baby and was craving pho. We were in the area passing by and saw this place had yummy food pictures posted on the outside of the restaurant. The pho was AMAZING 10/10 broth was savory and ingredients were fresh it felt like I was at home. We ordered eggrolls for appetizers and they were super crunchy & fresh!!! My husband ordered pad sa ew he really liked it and said it was super tasty with flavor! Customer service here was amazing the owner named Patrick at the cashier was super friendly and welcoming super hard working I can tell. I will definitely come back and recommend this place!!!

Best khao poon noodles hands down! Very friendly owner. We also tried the home made lao sausage and it's perfectly spiced.

Haven't been here in many years... was craving kao piak sen. amazing. Reminded me of Luang Prabang. I will definitely be coming back. Egg rolls were good but the highlight of my meal was def the kao piak. Long, thing and stringy noodles is what I prefer. Most places serve the thicker noodles. Friendly og took my order and kept checking up on me throughout the meal to see if I needed anything.

Dear Asian Cafe, I just wanna say thank you for coming into my life during some rough times. Times when good food is the only thing that will and is gonna cheer me up. A little birdie once whispered to me that your cafe has amazing homemade, straight homecooked dishes and to give you a try sometime. While working local in Sacramento a couple of weeks ago, I hit that search button on Doordash, and there you were. Looking at the menu alone and then resorting to Yelp for visuals, I knew whatever I ordered was gonna be straight F I R E ! I was with a client when my Dasher delivered, and I could smell the homemade goodness from the BAG! I haven't even opened the food yet! Straight home cooked yumminess! The aroma was out of this world... I ordered some Lao Sausage, which was sooooooo delicious and savory. Good lord, there was an explosion of Asian spices n lemongrass! The main course was, of course, you guessed it! Basil Chicken with steam rice and two fried eggs! And they were runny as I requested. Everything was so flavorful and tasty, all the spices complimented each other. I was so HAPPY AND SATISFIED. Thank you so much cause you have a customer for LIFE! A straight whole in the wall kinda joint n AUTHENTIC!

Haven't been here in years and figured why not since I'm in the area. Unfortunately food is mediocre with kids size portion with adult size pricing.

Fried rice is way too oily, and it's not salty at all. I had to add salt and more soy sauce myself

Beef Laab (raw) Can choose your level of doneness and flavor (bitter or not)
    Ashley L.

A great spot for my South East Asian food cravings. It's located in a rough area as the restaurant has been around for 20 years, but don't be put off by that! The food is authentic and delicious. I ordered the Papaya Salad, Nam Khao Tod (crispy rice), Kapoon, beef laab (raw), and Uncle (the owner) recommended me to try the beef intestine soup. For papaya salad, you're asked for your spice level (# of thai peppers). The beef laab offers your choice of doneness and I wanted to try the raw version, which was roughly minced and delicious. You can ask for bitters or not, it's to your preference. I personally like it! Bitters for the soup as well but I decided against it because I would be eating with others who may not like it. Everything was delicious and it was made quickly. The owner was chatting with me while I waited for the food. Definitely Asian dad/uncle vibes. He was very nice! I hope you guys try this place, it's sucks to see smaller businesses not get recognition. Especially for Lao food, which isn't a usually popular food.

We were craving laos food and decided to pass by here while we wete in town. Everything we ordered was delicious! I especially enjoyed the nam khao and khao poon noodle soup. The food is very tasty. The owner was very funny and have great service. He kept checking on us to make sure we were enjoying the food. Keep in mind, its not in the best neighborhood so make sure you lock your cars.

    Lao sausage. Mild. Delicious.

If you want authentic Southeast Asian food... then this is the place to go. We went here for the first time and our service was great! The owner was friendly and gave us a little history and background of his traveling days. The ambiance was pretty chill and the place was clean. Like they say, don't judge a book by it's cover. The best foods are always the hole in the wall places. We will be coming back to try the famous papaya salad!

The woman at the front who took my order was very nice. I've dined in before and the tables are fully set up with all the necessary condiments, but today I just needed to get home and hope the food could do its thing. I ordered the pho gai, which is lighter and cleaner than the typical Vietnamese beef pho. The broth has a slightly fermented, deeply umami flavor, probably from fish sauce, along with lemongrass, chicken broth, chicken breast, and ginger. Perfect when you're stuck with a cold. It was packaged really well with chili oil, jalapeños, celery, lime, and the noodles on the side. There isn't a ton of chicken if you're looking for high protein, but I didn't care. It was so good and soothing. Nothing like sweating over a bowl of herbal soup while sick. I also ordered the Lao sausage, which has a great blend of aromatics, especially lemongrass. It comes with a sauce I'm not totally familiar with, but it's bright and limey, likely fish-sauce based, with something like charred pepper or tomato that almost reminds me of a Mexican salsa. So good. This place is awesome. I've only ever gotten soups here, but I definitely need to branch out and try more of the menu. Prices are very fair too. The soup alone was just under 1.5 liters so great bang for your buck.

From the very first visit, we were impressed. Our party of four ordered six different items, and honestly, every single one was delicious. We loved it so much that we returned another day for dinner and ended up ordering ten different items from the menu. Once again, everything was excellent. What stood out most was how flavorful everything tasted without feeling greasy, overly sweet, or too heavy. The ingredients in both the savory dishes and desserts complemented each other really well, and you could tell a lot of thought went into the flavors and presentation. The staff were consistently warm, friendly, and welcoming throughout all of our visits, which made the experience even better. On our final day in town, we had a group of 18 people after a sushi feast and decided to order a large variety of desserts from here. The only downside we experienced was that the online menu didn't fully match what was actually available in the store. Since our group coordinated orders remotely, about one-third of the items selected online were unavailable when we went to pick everything up, so we had to reorganize several orders at the last minute. Even with that small inconvenience, we absolutely loved this place and would happily return the next time we're in town.

It was served with a sweet and spicy sauce which provided a tasty contrast. I ordered the vegetarian Tom Kha and it was served with a lot of different vegetables. The flavor of the soup was good, but not as strong as I would have preferred. It was served in a dish with a heating element in the center so it stayed very hot during our meal. The basil fried rice with chicken did not contain much basil or chicken. The flavor was good, however it was lacking ingredients such as vegetables and meat. The green curry was tasty and contained a decent amount of veggies and chicken. The eggplant and chicken were tender and my favorite part of the dish. There is a mandatory 18% gratuity charged for 5 people or more. There are no booster seats for children. There is an extra 4% charge for credit card payments. Service was good as the worker was friendly.

I thought everything I ordered was pretty good, not amazing…read more I got the following: Basil Fried Rice, Green Curry, Tom Kha, Stuffed Chicken Wings and a side of Jasmine Rice. The Basil Fried Rice didn't have much basil. We choose chicken as the protein for both and rice and curry and they don't put much in it. The Green Curry is typically one of the spiciest/hottest curries at other Thai places I've been to, but the menu described it as mild. I wouldn't describe this dish as mild spice, it definitely had a kick to it. The Tom Kha really wasn't as coconut forward as I hoped it would be, it actually had a very fishy taste, which I wasn't fond of. They do charge 18% gratuity for parties of 5 or more (even though in my case one member wasn't eating and the other was a kid, and they spent the majority of the time outside the establishment). It's not a huge place. There's no sign marking the restaurant is here, just the name on the door. I might go again to try other dishes, but I thought it was an all-around average-to-good meal.

I ended up getting the kao piek. He kindly separated the noodles for me from the broth and instructed me to make sure its hot when I eat it. I added pork blood. I devoured the kao piek. It was so good. Good amount of noodles and chicken. Great broth. The noodles were soft. I've never had chicken nam khao. The whole dish was so flavorful. The rice wasn't super crispy but it was still good. Had more the next day and it was still hitting.

This pho is different from the Vietnamese pho that everyone is use too. It's simple and cleaner tasting without all the herby smell and taste. Sometimes I just want this type of pho and this is the place to go to. Their papaya is also really good. Just becareful when telling them how spicy you want it. Their spice is spicy. I also really like their meatballs too. Nice and bouncy to pair with the sweet and sour sauce. If you like bbq chicken wings, they also have some really good chicken wings too. Just know that this is an order and pay first restaurant. Once you order and paid then you go find a table and they'll bring out your food once it's cooked. Also, they only accept cash.
