Late Night Door Dash. Boyfriend hadn't eaten dinner, and it was getting late, so we ordered him some food. He got the Kana Moo Grab with extra pork belly. He said it was a bit salty, but the Chinese broccoli was good. Got delivery, so can't speak to ambiance, but food came quickly and it did the job.

My best friend and I visited Thai Canteen during the early dinner time on a Saturday. I was so hyped to take my bestie who visited from San Diego to Thai Canteen because from my memories, this was one of the best Thai foods I ever had in Sacto area a while ago. The restaurant has indoor, outdoor tables, and a mini bar section. You order your food at the counter, pay for it, then grab a number and place it on your table. Food arrived pretty quickly and the service we received was alright. We ordered Thai Tea, Palm Juice, Pad See Ew with Beef, and Pad Thai with Chicken, all the staple food people usually order at any Thai place. The price is decent, portion is quite large, we ended up need to pack some leftover home. But for the taste, I would say it was pretty mid, not as good as I remembered. Pad Thai taste was just average, the noodle actually a little bit too soggy for my taste, and it had a very strong tomato/ketchup flavor instead of tamarind. Pad See Ew lacked that wok smoke flavor and was quite salty, but the vegetables still had a crunchy texture, and beef was tender. Thai Tea was alright, I wished it could be a little bit more creamier but the Palm Juice was definitely a unique and refreshing drink, think of it like coconut juice but more dense and have a nice fragant of natural sugar. Overall, it was an okay experience. Maybe they changed the chef or the sauce, honestly i dont know, it just not as great as how I remembered it.

Came here for some late night eats to wrap up date night and per usual this place did not disappoint. We ordered reverse happy hour pad Thai and bbq chicken skewers. No alcohol but we both got Thai tea; I went with regular and Mr Man opted for lemon. Kind of jealous of his drink. Both were delicious and glad we opted for the large. Overall we had a great night music selection was great and the food was tasty. Mr man said to get the papaya salad next time so we will definitely be back for some more late night eats

Not the best Pad Kee Mao I've had, but the noodles were cooked perfectly, and it had a decent flavor. The Tom Kha I'm soup was just OK The papaya salad was good not the best I've ever had The satay chicken was OK. The peanut sauce was very boring. This is a restaurant that you would come when you want to just walk up and order and not have to split a bell with a bunch of people doesn't have table order service but they do deliver your meal to your table after they give you a number. It's self serve water, ice and they do have lemons for the water. This restaurant is located on the super busy 16th St. three lane to get downtown one way road which is very hard to park and if you do get a parking spot it's a busy street. One good thing about this restaurant compared to other Thai restaurants is that it's opened in between lunch and dinner. Most of them seem to close by 3 PM and don't open until 4:30 or 5 PM so this is one of the few that you can hit up anytime a day.

Me and a friend came here after the CARDI B concert at Golden one center. We initially chose this place because it was super late and who doesn't Love Thai Food! I got the Papaya Salad and pork skewers and everything was so good. The place was clean, customer service was good and I definitely will be coming back. I love their late night hours. On the weekdays I believe they're open until 1am and weekends 3am (I believe). Everything was so flavorful and I will be coming back. Check it out next time you're looking for a late night snack!

Ive been here several times, tried multiple dishes, and the food is always good! I like how you pay before sitting down and there are plenty of seating. The only downside is finding parking but it is in downtown so I can't really complain. The green thai curry is my favorite but the pad thai is a close second. Would recommend if you're looking for a new thai spot!

We came to Thai Canteen on a Friday night and it wasn't too busy, which was a nice surprise. You order at the register and serve yourself water, and then they bring the food out to your table. I got the Pad Gra Prow. The flavor was really good and had a nice kick, but there were definitely more veggies than chicken, which was kind of a bummer. My friend ordered the red curry. It was on the sweeter side and served in a small bowl with rice on the side. Overall, we really liked the vibe and would definitely come back to try other items on the menu. I've also had their mango sticky rice before and it's really good. Great spot if you're looking for casual Thai food with quick service.

I love Thai Canteen so much! Came here with a group of my coworkers for my belated birthday lunch. I always look forward to coming here because the food is absolutely delicious. I ordered the Pad See Ew medium spicy with a side of white rice and also try the Thai green tea. And everything was AMAZING! Service was friendly and wonderful. We went around 1140am. Got a big table for our group and it's always a great place to chat during lunch time. I was so happy I was able to try a sample of the Thai green tea and I loved the cute little shot glass it came in. Thank you for the wonderful lunch. Perfect place for a late bday celebration! Love bringing new folks that have never been too!

I've been here twice now and omg the food is bomb! I've had both the noodles and rice plates, baked mussels, pork skewers w sticky rice, garlic mushrooms and everything was delicious and came out quick. The good food plus the friendly, proactive staff who always pre bus the tables so you don't have empty plates just sitting on your table while you are eating. Also they definitely have way more sake choices than I remember last time. My sister loved the chicken pad thai. Also the restaurant was clean and a pretty spacious place, we love sitting at the long tables because we order 4-7 plates of food everytime we come in. Highly recommended!

Ordered 4 items for a total of $60. Small Tom Yum Veggie Bowl $14. Chicken pad Thai $18. 6 piece Chicken wings $14. Thai Ice Tea $5.50. Have only had good experiences when dining in, but takeout portions are a rip off. The sizes are equivalent to that of leftovers when we dine in. May have caught them on an off night. The food was still cooked incredibly well. Will only be dining in from here in the future. 5 stars when dining in. 4 for the takeout experience.

One of my favorite Thai restaurants in Sacramento! The food is always fresh to order and delicious. Today, we kept it simple and ordered Thai fried rice and fried shrimp. Our server was Kaylin, she was so sweet and had a great suggestion on food items. The ambiance was nice. We sat outside and enjoyed the sunny day.

Great spot to get some grub after a night out in Sacramento Mid Town as this place is open late. It will provide a good plate of comfort food. Party of 5, we ordered 7 dishes *chicken curry *shrimp eggrolls *crab fried rice *beef drunken noodles *chicken laab *roti My fav of all the dishes waa the crab fried rice - it is a meal by its self. Consist of both real and imitation crab. The chicken laab was heavy on the ginger, a dislike for me but my friends liked it The noodles was just ok, felt lacking in the flavor park. You cant really go wrong with shrimp egg roll. The curry was yummy. What didn't go well: Slow bringing the food out and they forgot out shrimp rolls. We eneded up having to remind them and we ate it last. - the fact that they are open late was good enough and will come again.

Food was delicious and everything was flavored well - love the sauce pairings. Originally I thought the root was more like veggie tempura but is actually more of a fritter with a sauce. Very crispy. The Hai Yai Fried Chicken has a nice crispy outer skin, cuts really well - meat melts away from the bones, and the fat portion taste really good. The main con I want to call out here is based off how it cuts I thought the chicken meat inside would be very juicy - but is actually kind of dry. So docking points for the inside chicken meat portion. Really love the pandan sago coconut ice cream tho. Ice cream has actual coconut meat in it and the salted coconut sauce on the outside nicely balance the sweetness of the ice cream. Will come again if in town.

Their specials are also really good I love their asparagus and seafood special and the Rad nar is delicious too. This is the first time I've seen a male working in the kitchen. It's usually 5 to 6 females working their tits off. We arrived before they opened at 4 PM and were the second ones in the door. The restaurant filled up very fast and there was also to go orders and people were arriving waiting for seats or signing to take the food to go. I'm so happy to see this business is thriving. There, Tom, Yum and Tom Kay soups are absolutely perfectly flavored have a ton of chicken. If you order chicken, you can also order tofu or shrimp. The mushrooms are freshly thick cut and you'll find large pieces of cake for leaf and ginger and the soup so you know it's really freshly made. They can adjust the spice heat as to your preference and it really comes a little spicey hot, and you can ask for Thai hot but you might not be able to taste anything for a few days afterwards cause that is really hot . This time we asked for our papaya salad to be a little more than medium hot and it was super good made our lips burn afterwards but in a good way. Water is always filled great service. Absolutely love this place.

I'm not sure if management or chef has changed but their food is not what I remembered from years ago. We initially ordered their tofu pad thai and gai yang and immediately noticed how pricey their menu was. They have a wall of specials and I remember being shocked that their orange chicken was $24. I didn't mind paying more than what I was used to for my pad thai because I remembered their food was delicious but I was shocked when my pad thai came out. It was literally drowned in sauce and looked like it was a bowl of noodle soup. I was still optimistic hoping that it tasted better than it looked but it just tasted like sweet rice noodle soup. I was hesitant to bring it up to the waitress after two bites but so glad I did because I would have hated myself if I left without saying anything. The waitress was kind and offered to remake the dish. Instead, I opted for something else because I was afraid to be disappointed again. I ordered their tofu drunken noodles since I've gotten it here before and remember it being tasty. I confirmed that the drunken noodle was going to be a dry noodle dish and thankfully it was. It was good but not the best I've ever had. My boyfriend had their gai yang which is a marinated grilled chicken dish. He said it was pretty dry without the sauce on the side but the sweet chili sauce provided was pretty tasty. It's probably not worth $26 given the how dry the chicken was and he said he would never order it again. Overall, the customer service was great and portions were good. I had to deduct 3 stars from my previous review as the food quality has significantly gone down in my experience and doesn't justify the high menu prices in my opinion.
