Sadly my 1st experience was GREAT, my 2nd experience was very disappointing. Let me 1st say, I do really like the stylists here and the price and location really work for me. I did go for a fresh haircut & style. I felt I communicated well with photos as well as conversation with Robert as to what I was looking for in a cut and style. I did say I was looking for a bit of a trim (keeping most of the length). I needed more texture and layering in front. I also like curl or wave as styling goes and NOT to use a HUGE BLOW OUT BRUSH, as I have a lot of hair, but it's fine and goes flat easily. Unfortunately, what I got was the exact opposite of what we talked about. Robert spent A LOT OF TIME talking to his partner, not to me and I feel he lost site of what we had discussed. No layering, no shape, blown dry w/the HUGE BRUSH and style was flat, straight and stringy. Not Me at all. I really was heartbroken when I got home and couldn't even look at the style or cut. I tried 4 x to reach the other owner, left messages and was never contacted. I was told they don't read reviews, clearly, so sadly, I'm once again in search of a stylist who listens and "less is always more" when cutting hair. read more

SO HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Lison and Robert are the very best! They and every stylist there are true artists! Plus they are all beautiful, loving and kind people. A gem of a business!! Don't let anyone else touch your hair!! read more

Love Lison, Robert, and the team! I've been coming to Lison for years, and I've seen a few of the other stylists a few times as well. Everyone is attentive, welcoming, and good at what they do. Lison listens to what I want and interprets it to make my color and curls look their best. The experience is relaxing and fun. Lison always asks me about my life and makes me feel good about myself. Can't recommend enough! read more

I come here for Diana Luong eyebrows and facials and she is truly the best. Have tried so many eyebrow places and facials across the city and honestly none compare. Couldn't find a place to write a separate review for her - she's a gem! read more

Highly recommend! Made an appointment for a short trim. Very pleasant atmosphere, cheerful staff. Stesha did my haircut, and I could not be more pleased with the results! I showed Stesha a photo of a previous haircut I had that I wanted again & she replicated my desired cut! Salon experience included shampoo & conditioner wash to start. Lots of attention to detail during the cut. Friendly conversation. Staff cleaning regularly during my visit. Blow-dry & style was also included. I have fine, thin hair, & Stesha was gentle the entire time. Thank you Vierra & Friends! I will be back! read more

Found this salon on Yelp, and saw that it was super close to me so I decided to try it out. I had to go in person to make an appointment because my calls weren't answered, but it was okay since it's not far. I had a great experience during my appointment! I got a wash, cut, and style, and it was all $80. The price is more expensive than what I'm used to, but I think it was worth it! Rari cut my hair, and he was amazing! He was super kind and friendly the whole time. I showed him a picture of a previous cut I got that I wanted, and he only had to look at it for a few seconds to know what to do. Super smooth experience and love the way it turned out! Also really nice how they are well known in the neighborhood. read more

Rari does a wonderful color! He can always evenly tone and blend my roots no matter what color. One day it's orange; the next month, it is red, and now it is half and half. He is kind, easy to talk to, with a sense of humor! read more

I think I found my go to place for a haircut- after cycling through several hair salons in SF over the past few years I was recommended this place by a friend. ?Rory at Vierra and Friends was amazing - pleasant , considerate and I felt immediate at ease under his care. Super interesting how everyone has been there for decades and seems like a really nice work environment which probably leads to the care they put into their clients . Thanks! read more

Tony is a miracle. His prices cannot be beat and he does my blonde biolage better than anyone I've ever seen on either coast. Tony is uniquely skilled with long, blonde hair. He figured out a way to color my hair that gives it incredible depth and dimension without requiring upkeep. Literally went five months without a highlight. read more

Warning: this review is for their hair removal (bikini wax) services and not their salon services. Perhaps, she's not the normal lady that everyone in these reviews have raved about. But, Amy (who has started working there 2 days a week recently) was a complete sweetie who really SHOULDN"T be doing bikini waxing. She simply didn't have the skillz required of a wax goddess. The quick, precise, accurate motions needed to make the experience as painless as possible simply eluded her. It took her THREE times the normal required time to complete the task. I was left feeling raw, my hips cramped and needed to go to the nearby Pharmaca to pick up wax strips to go home and clean up the job that she had botched. I'm sorry Amy. You are very sweet, but you should stick to facials. read more

Diana Luong is MAGIC! She is my girl when it comes to eyebrows. I have a gap on one of my eyebrows and no other specialist I have been to, has been able to work around it, but her! She is detail oriented, keen, and through every time I've had a sitting with her. Plus, the space is super cozy and homey! I definitely will be back! read more

Just had the most amazing haircut experience with Rari! So professional and fun! They were so clean and really took pandemic precautions seriously which I appreciated. I received an amazing haircut and will definitely be coming to Vierra & Friends from now on for haircuts. The salon just had the best neighborhood feel and I'm so happy with my hair. Highly recommend! read more

I called out of the blue for an appointment. I told them over the phone my hair type, and they got me an appointment with Shelly. She's a great hairstylist and wonderful conversationalist, as well. I didn't really have a lot of clarity about what I wanted, just gave her some broad ideas about the shape I wanted. She started to cut away with the clippers, did most of my hair on the sides with the clipper. At one point, she found a singular magical cut. It was this one clipper pass, she basically changed the entire shape of my head. I was delighted! She gave me such a great and versatile haircut that I can do a lot with depending on my mood, work, gig, party, everything! I'm already excited about my next cut because we have a plan and a direction. She's the best. Thanks, Shelly! read more

Val rocks my locks! I started seeing her after a girl at Vidal Sassoon gave me a freakin' MULLET. I know that's all the rage now but I sooooo can't rock the mullet. It was awful. It took me months to grow that out. Val is now the only one I let touch my hair. It's a little boutique shop so don't expect a separate shampoo person, color person, and stylist. Personally, I'm relieved to have one person do everything. She does my colors and my cuts and I always look hot when I leave. She even did my hair for my wedding along with all my bridesmaids. Cash only but there's an ATM across the street inside Burgermeister. Another great thing is they have evening appointments that are pretty late compared to other salons. read more

Oh Rari, When I broke up with you? About five years ago? It wasn't you, Rari. It was me. And I'm so sorry. I don't know exactly why I left --maybe I was insecure that my hair isn't worthy of your skills? Maybe I wanted the thrill of something new? During our time apart, I tried a few Lower Haight hipster stylists, a swanky Hayes Valley salon, some Supercuts trims, and some very long, very bad stretches of no haircuts at all. None of which justified my time away from you. But Rari, I've come home to my senses as well as to your tactful but honest advice, delightful manner and uncanny ability to actualize my most inarticulate descriptions. I look forward to a long future together. I won't leave you again, Joanna. read more

I've had my hair cut at a few places since moving up to San Francisco in the spring. I thought it only fair to play the field for a while and see what was out there. Carol at Vierra & Friends was my first and, after bland and disappointing experiences elsewhere, it's clear that she's The One. I don't ask for anything really fancy--just your average, fauxhawk-ish, textured-to-hell-and-back... thing--and she's delivered better than anyone else I've tried (and that extends beyond the Bay Area). Sure, the cut costs twice as much as many other places I've been, but I feel ten times better when I walk out the door afterwards, so it just makes sense. The vibe there is great, too. The conversation is fun and the stories that Carol and the rest of the crew banter about are hilarious. Also, she was nice enough to ask around for help when I was deciding between two different styling products and then recommend the cheaper one on its merits rather than trying to upsell me. Absolutely top shelf. As pointed out by others already, Carol only works at Vierra & Friends on Sundays and Monday nights. I hear she puts time in somewhere in Bernal Heights the rest of the week. I say that with a tinge of "get tickets now before your local shows are sold out" because she's just that good. read more

How great is it when you can get a good hair cut at a place that is a block from your house? It's even better when you can get that cut at 10pm. Yes, Lison (the owner of this fine establishment) works crazy hours - from 7am until 11 some nights. Even so, she has more energy and spunk at 11pm than I do at 11am. She's great. What's more is she does a great job with my hair. It takes a special person to convince me to try layers. Oh, and I feel like I'm at a party every time I visit Lison. The whole place is full of fun fun people. read more

Even though I got oodles of recommendations from online friends about where to go for a haircut, no one mentioned this place. While walking home from Pharmaca, I saw Vierra's and stopped in. Everyone was very nice and friendly, so I scheduled an appointment for a few days later. My stylist ended up being Rari and what a sweetheart he is, let alone truly talented with scissors. Anytime that I mention to a stylist that I have curly hair AND want layers, I usually end up with a sudo mullet. I'm elated to say that didn't happen today and I'll be coming back to this salon again and again! Last but not least, I made sure to post some pictures since there weren't any online yet :) read more

My hair is like fake boobs: it looks great from a distance, but when you actually get your hands on it, you realize it is all an illusion. My curls are really fine and a pain to cut. Shelly is the first stylist I have worked with that: 1. She knows what two inches looks like. Other stylists would say they are trimming only two inches and yet I would lose 4 inches of hair. 2. She doesn't try to make your long hair short. 3. She listens to what styles you are interested in and creates a look that is unique to you. 4. Excellent colorist. I loved my pink and wine highlighted hair. I wish my pillow cases loved it as much. 5. Flexible work schedule. Thank god. Sometimes Sunday at 8 is the only time I can make it in. 6. Very reasonably priced. I love her. The only stylist I will ever need. I have been seeing her for almost 7 years.... read more

Vierra & Friends is located in a great area and a really fun trip to make to get your hair done on a sunny Saturday. The actual salon is cozy and everyone inside are all smiles. I felt completely comfortable there the first time I went in. It's got a darling retro theme going mixed with some pleasant and eclectic tunes playing. I get my haircut and dyed here by Valerie. She's an adorable redhead that works there. A complete perfectionist when it comes to hair and I pretty much give her free reign. I have yet to have even the slightest disappointment and I am nothing short of impressed every time I visit. read more

Valerie-- How I love thee. Let me count the ways: You fixed my awful terrible mishapened and lopsided haircut without even mentioning how ugly it was. You spent so much time and effort to get my hair looking awesome. You tried really hard to fit me in for a consultation even though I called a day before with a tight schedule, only leaving you three hours to choose from and although we couldn't meet up, you were considerate and awesome and left me a message apologizing. You didn't give me a mullet like every stylist gives an Asian person who walks into their salon. I've finally found my go to stylist after 2 long years of searching!! read more

I moved back to sf this year and was worried about spending on my haircuts and finding a new solan. This spot is near my stop on the way to work and not only has great stylists with the special touch, but some of the best rates I've seen in San Francisco! I've gone back and plan to continue doing so. read more

Trust. It's a big deal in a relationship. Psst...let me tell you a secret. I trust Shelly more than my boyfriend and my best friend. I'm telling you all yelpers some pretty heartfelt stuff here. Shelly is amazing. She deals out colors, cuts, trims, and laughs. I've been seeing her for over a year (maybe two). Time just flies when you are having fun. Just yesterday, I got devilish...bright red streaks. Everyone loves them. read more

The very nicest people who are FANTASTIC at doing hair and any other salon treatment you may need. Love love love this place!

Shelley rocks! No, literally, she played the Decemberists while cutting my hair. I needed a change, and some style added to my lifeless long hair, so I brought in a picture of something I thought I could probably pull off. And... Shelley pulled it off! Woohoo! Attentive and communicative. I'll be back. The end. FYI - They have some really funky hours. Don't think you can get your hair cut at 8pm? Guess again! read more

Tony Barbuto is totes amaze!!!! I came in looking like a Lion and left as a young cougar. He tamed me! I had "fluffy" hair that shocked me when I took down my pony tail. Unacceptable.. 1st of all, I was 10 min late due to muni (I called and he said no worries!), greeted w/a huge smile, then a tour, a 10 min consultation, then a shampoo, scalp massage, cut and fun conversation. read more

A good haircutter is worth their weight in rubies. A few years ago, after several years of "adventures" I tried Vierra & Friends. I had been looking at the salon since forever as I chugged by on the N-Judah and thought it looked like such a charming, friendly place. Why I didn't march in there before my "period of exploration," I'll never know, but I will never go anywhere else, save under profound duress. The decor and ambiance are like a hip version of my grandmaman's apartment, which is delightful enough, but Rari is THE BEST. It helps that he is a sweet, friendly guy, but he is a top notch haircutter, which is important for my aging, unruly mane. I will be his devoted customer for eternity. Everyone else seems to be fun and talented too, so the place always hums happily. read more

Looooove this place for its cozy atmosphere and team of professionals! Even if I moved from Cole valley, I am still going back 30 min out of the way. Rory is the best! Accomodating on the schedule, and great on the chit chat (not too much, and not too little, just right), he has a great sense of style. I had highlights done once and the other time, cut 10 inches of hair and went almost platinum blonde from light brown. Needless to say, when I looked initially in the mirror, i was sure i will be back for a redo. However, a couple days later, in both instances, I was in love with the sophisticated makeover looks he took the calculated risk in giving. Unless I change cities, I will be a loyal customer here. read more

Love, love, love the people at Vierra and friends. They have been here for decades and are the most loving people I know in my life. And, the haircuts are great too! I have seen Robert for a year now and couldn't be happier. Only downside is reservations are tight but that's because the work is so good. My highest recommendation. read more

Woohoo is right. Val hooks it up! Shes awesome, and I am a fan. She's like a mind reader, and it always turns out better than how I had pictured it. I am a complicated creature requiring crazy color, and she makes it happen. She also cuts my exboyfriends hair, and hes a happy camper. read more

Walk in the door to this cute salon, and you are immediately greeted with a friendly and warm welcome. Tony cuts my hair and he does an amazing job. Sometimes I'll want the top of my hair longer so that it falls flat, and sometimes I'll want it short so that it stands up with very little work and maintenance. Most of the time I'll ask for a some version of a faux hawk, fade and texture. And I have to say, I walk away satisfied every time. Every time. I also appreciate that he gives me honest feedback and advice. I've mentioned trying a somewhat more dramatic style change here or there...just for fun. If I have an idea that works, he'll make it happen. But, if I have an idea that seems like a good idea, but really isn't because of of the way my hair grows, my hair thickness, or because I can't/won't spend a lot of time putting product in my hair, he'll politely talk me out of it and recommend a similar look and feel that does work. I figure he's the expert (and I am not) and every time I walk away a satisfied client. My final words: - The salon is cash or check only. - Tony gives me a great haircut every time. - The other stylists in the salon are super friendly. - The other clients I've shared the space with have a great time and also walk out looking amazing. - Enjoy! read more

This review is for Diana. She recently moved to Vierra from around the corner at Lavande. I'm so glad I found her again. She's the only person I trust to wax my eyebrows. I really like her new space. It's bigger than the room at Lavande, and more relaxing, I think. Please go check her out for waxing and facials! read more

I just had by far the worst leg wax I've ever had in my life here. I needed a quick last minute leg wax and my regular place couldn't take me. I live in the hood so I thought I could just run down the street and would be in and out. The woman who waxed me (Kim, I believe) was so sweet and nice but seemed like she had never given a wax before. First of all it took an hour and a half for a full leg wax (and she didn't even get everything). There was wax EVERYWHERE. We were both incredibly sticky, her movements were jerky and her approach was random and unorganized. I feel badly knocking it because she was very nice and well intentioned, but just want to warn others to not make the trip to this place for waxing. You'll be more satisfied anywhere else. read more

Well. Rari did my hair for my wedding. AND three of my bridesmaids and my mom. He came all the way to Stern Grove, and I feel like a bandit he charged us such a fair price. Despite the fact that I brought him several pictures that sort of looked like what I wanted, but not really, he figured out exactly what I wanted and created an excellent, beautiful updo that lasted all day. On top of all that, he is super nice, cool, and down to earth. I would give him 10 stars if I could. read more

This review is for the fabulous Diana. I've been getting waxed by her for a while now, and recently had my first facial. She's fabulous and super professional. This tiny corner salon has everything I want in hair cut locale - friendly people, kids, dogs, (but only very clean and well behaved kids and dogs), a neighborhood feel, excellent service, and best of all... good cuts. Good cuts for about as reasonable as you can expect a good cut to cost in the city. I see Robert, and he is fantastic. I have curly hair. So, I'm a tough customer. But don't see him, because the only down side is that it's hard enough to get a cut scheduled as it is! read more
