I had been wanting to try this place for awhile but their hours and the times I have been near by never synced up. Today my husband brought me some pho and spring rolls from there. I was absolutely let down. The sauce for the rolls was a weird lumpy texture. As for the Pho it is expensive for what they give you. They literally give you 4 tiny slices of tri tip and 1.5 maybe 2 meatballs (they cut them in 4 to make it look like more). And the broth to the pho here is beyond oily. For anyone looking for good pho just drive 25more min to Lompoc to Suvann's because this place was a total rip off and just not it. I may change my review in the future once we try other items but as for now the pho here is a no go. read more

Coming from a large city with lots of pho influence. This place is weak in broth and all it's foods. They didn't serve it with bean sprouts , no lime, no basil, no sides , no lettuces with the egg rolls. It was basic and was absolutely not authentic. NOT WORTH a penny. One of the few vietnamese restaurants in the SLO area. So few places make bun cha gio so I appreciate them delivering. That being said, coming from vietnamese neighborhoods, the food was a bit lacking. There were no herbs and no option to add more meat on the side which is typical for this dish. There's a generous portion of nuoc cham but it was spicy which was fine for me, but for my older family members it was too intense. I wish we could have adjusted our own spice levels. Ultimately a good spot, especially in a viet food desert, but doesnt live up if you're used to quality viet food. read more

By far this is one of the worse dining experiences I've ever encountered. Customer service was completely missing. When we initially arrived only 2 tables were filled. When we left it was a full house and many angry diners. I've never had someone be so clueless when serving. Besides just leaving us with no menu she proceeded to just ignore us all night. People that arrived after us were served first. She never brought drinks after being told multiple times. She forgot the spring rolls entirely even after two requests. When she finally brought water she advised they didn't have the beer. This was literally an hour and a half after ordering. On waitress for an entire restaurant. When my Pho finally arrived no utensils and no toppings. Asked to no avail. Had to literally get up and go to the kitchen bar area and ask again. I'm really sad because once upon a time this was one of my favorite places......it'll be a long time to never before I return. Shame on you!! read more

I'm very disappointed in the staff working this place not doing it justice. The owner above aware of this. The food is great. But their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. First of all everything online states they're open until 9pm on Saturday. My husband and I got there at 8:20pm. The door sign even says they're open until 9pm yet the staff looked at me oddly when I walked in and asked what I wanted. (Rude!) instead of welcome, I got a ride what do you want? Well I'm here to place an order. To which she replied that the kitchen was already closed. I proceeded to show her that their signage says they're open until 9pm. She said yes, but they close the kitchen at 8:30. It wasn't even 8:30 yet they already closed their kitchen. I'm never coming back again. read more

I'm not sure if it was an off night or what but our second time eating here was kind of a disaster. The restraunt was a mess, none of the tables had been cleared off when customers left. We ordered our food and the waiter returned twice to tell us that they were out of something. finally when my husband did get his food, it wasn't that great and tasted a bit off. He ended up feeling quite sick afterwards. I love Vietnamese food and had a great first experience here, but we definitely won't be back after the second time. read more

I see all the great reviews and not sure how to take it. Either SM has limited asian places so in comparison, this is PHENOMENAL for the SM market - or people are just too damn nice. The decor is super cute, ample space and comfortable to be in here. It's clearly a hipster / trendy spot. The food was surprisingly expensive. The portion sizes are consistent for Pho. The rest was just way too expensive. The rice - maybe 2/3 the size of what I'd get anywhere else and for 11.50 - no way. $5.50 for what's equivalent to a McDonald Medium fry seemed outrageous. Add some seasoning like parm or garlic or make some trendy dipping sauces - even a spicy mayo, or a sriracha ketchup would justify the cost. The fried wings were also tiny - for 5 wings - no thanks. Banh Mi was probably my only highlight. It was tasty, hit the spot, but also annoyingly overpriced. I'm usually full on a small Pho at most places, here, I ate half a bahn mi, split a large pho and ate all the apps and left feeling unfulfilled. I can't imagine the rent to be that spendy in this plaza. It is a little out of the way. I think if they priced things fairly - and comparatively to the market, they would drive more traffic. Doesn't seem like many places offer Banh Mi so they could use that as a draw. There's definitely a lot of potential here and I'm sure with a few adjustments - this place could be hopping soon. read more

The place recently opened and it was clean, tons of seating (98 max occupancy), bar area with beer on tap and wine options. We decided to order the #9 pho special with tritip, flank, tendon and meatball. The small was actually a pretty good portion. We also ordered the grilled shrimp and egg rolls-- smaller portion than I expected but for the price, it wasn't too bad. The appetizers were tasty, pho was a little bland but the portion size makes up for it. There was also a lot of meat which I enjoyed. Other places skimp out on the meat. Towards the end of our meal, more people were arriving and there were only two servers so our server had not come back to check on us. I was in the area on a road trip stop and was craving Vietnamese. I found this one and decided to give it a try and thank god I did. I ordered the Pho Tai and a Thai tea. The pho was exactly what I was looking for and the Thai tea was great as well. Aside from that, the customer service was great, the decorations were super cute and the bathroom was super clean! Also, the bathroom smelt great. The paper towel dispenser was a bit aggressive but go slow and you'll be fine ;) Overall, would definitely recommend! I finally redownloaded Yelp! My husband and I have been here twice now, and we plan on continuing to return. The service has always been phenomenal! My husband says that there's a great vibe there and plenty of seating. The first time around, we ordered a large bowl of pho, but soon realized that it's way too big of a serving for us. Though I've had better, their soup broth is good! I only suggest to provide small tiny bowls (just two inches wide would be enough). It's something that's super common in the DC/MD/VA area. We like to add hoisin and sriracha onto these bowls to dip the meat in to. I can't wait to try the other dishes they have there! :) read more

I was specifically impressed with the way they packaged my to-go order. 9 times out of 10 when I order to-go the packaging destroys the meal. What should be crispy is soggy, what should be hot is cold, what should be separated is mixed, etc. Viet Kitchen packaged my order to perfectly that when I got home I felt as though it had come straight from their kitchen.
