Nice little Vietnamese pop up at Plenty on Bell St. The lemongrass chicken was really good.

Mushroom toast with a flavorful gravy, on a thick biscuit- hardy and delicious. Avocado toast had pumpkin seeds, giving it a crunchy texture. Tons of outdoor seating to accommodate families of different shapes sizes. Service is quick and attentive. Line goes by quick. The atmosphere is of a California vibe, diverse folks coming together for a great meal.

I found this place on social media and knew I had to try it, especially the "egg in a jar" with purple potatoes and toast soldiers (I can never resist a purple potato or a fun name). The space is small and charming with plenty of outdoor parking. They have a lovely outdoor dining area with lots of seating. You order inside at the counter, get a number, and they bring everything out to you. The menu is full of delicious, bready dishes, and I loved that they offer a wide selection of coffee drinks -- even matcha. You can find macchiatos, cortados, and more here. We ordered the egg in a jar with toast soldiers, a baguette sandwich, a matcha latte, a cappuccino, and of course a chocolate croissant to go as a sweet treat for the road. If I could afford the calories of eating bread every day, I'd be here daily. Every bread item we tried was incredible. The croissant was buttery and flaky, exactly as it should be. The baguette sandwich had the perfect balance of crunch and softness. And the toast soldiers were the ideal size and texture for scooping up the cheesy, creamy, eggy goodness in the jar. We visited on a Monday and it wasn't too busy. Staff was very friendly. If I lived closer, I'd be grabbing fresh bread from here all the time. A must‑stop for any bread lover exploring the area.

We made a reservation on Open Table just in case because we were VERY hungry. It is a cute place, on the smaller side and has a more modern take on seating. Some tables had couches and others were the traditional chairs/booths. After looking over the menu, we decided to order the focaccia bread, bates burger, and the mac n cheese. The focaccia bread came out with this delicious mascarpone cheese topped with honey and pepper on top. At first, we were a little worried but the blend of flavors were IMMACULATE! We contemplated ordering another one. Next the burger and mac n cheese came out. The burger was a bit dry, and it came out well done when we asked for medium (they ask how you would like it cooked when ordering). The potato wedges that come with it were very good, hot and fluffy. The Mac n cheese was the star of the show. We got the mushrooms on the side since we never had BBQed mushrooms before but they added such a complex flavor with the truffle cheese in the macaroni. We ended the night with their cookie skillet and it came with salted Carmel gelato (the menu says vanilla). She confirmed that the flavor was okay before putting the order in. Overall, we had a good night here and the view was beautiful. Side note: they have you park in the bottom lot if you are only coming for the restaurant and there is a number you call. They pick you up in the golf cart and drive you up! And they offer the same service to come back down! Thank you Alex (unless it was Ally we are arguing over your name) for such a positive energy and personality.

Rarely do I write bad reviews but sadly, I didn't think the wines were anything special. The tasting fee for both mixed whites/reds & all reds were pretty steep compared to other good wineries I've been to. The customer service was mediocre. There were 2 guys who served my husband & I. The first guy didn't seem enjoy his job. He had a poker face & wasn't that friendly. The 2nd guy was friendlier but both were stingy with their pours & didn't go above & beyond to sell us their wines. Let alone I had to ask if we could revisit one of the wines at the end of our tasting & he says they don't usually let customers revisit bc they were about close but he will only do this bc there were other customers still finishing up their tasting. He clearly mentioned this twice which made me feel uncomfortable & I even apologized. Come on now, who's the customer here? You're better off going to Babcock, Alma Rosa, & Kaena (in Solvang). All 3 of these wineries had better wines & the price was cheaper. Customer service was excellent, they gave us bigger pours, & they all asked if we wanted to revisit any of the wines. They were just more passionate & enthusiastic about the wines they poured. I won't be coming back here.

One of the best things about Foxen is that they truly have something for everyone whether you're into Pinot Noir, old world style red blends, whites or rosé. Every time we visit there's always something new and interesting to try. I'm a bit of a wine nerd, so I really appreciate how knowledgeable and passionate the team is. It's always fun being able to go deeper into the winemaking process and really talk through vineyard sourcing, production methods and the style behind each wine instead of just doing a standard tasting. You can tell there's a lot of thought and care put into what they produce. The ambience is also fantastic at both locations. The main tasting room has a great relaxed atmosphere and the Shack has its own iconic vibe. Definitely try to visit both if you get the chance because the tasting menus are different and it's a great way to experience a wider variety of wines. Foxen continues to be one of those places we look forward to visiting again and again and it never disappoints.
