    Their house special pho (small)
    Emily Z.

This little hidden gem is overshadowed by larger viet restaurants in the area but it's really quite decent ! The portion sizes I don't think are as small as what some of the other reviews give it credit for and really it's just that the bowl is deeper instead of wider (which keeps the food warm for longer). the soup base and pho were both decent but what was really surprising is that they have afternoon tea which includes a few HK classics along with their regular viet menu selections. Service as well was superb but maybe that's because I went for a super late dinner. I'd say if you're around the area, it's worth a try!

Wonton and beef brisket soup with rice noodles. Meat is very tender and juicy

Fast. Cheap. Delicious. Need not say more This place is a great spot for a quick meal that's cheap. It's delicious and lots of choice. I'm happy to stop in and grab something and the place always seems to have lots of people in it. It's a good vibe and lots of selection. They have a few daily all day specials, breakfast and lunch/dinner specials. I went with brisket in soup with rice noodles and beef fried rice and veg on the side. Delicious meal for two people that keeps you under $15 total. It's hard to beat that. Yes to other reviews this isn't a pho place, it's a quick Asian diner and nothing wrong with that.

Baked chicken rice with tomato sauce

Came here on a weekday for dinner with the wifey. This used to be a Vietnamese restaurant and I guess it wasn't doing so well, so they converted into a HK style restaurant. Let's focus on some of the positives first. There aren't a lot of HK style restaurants in the Greensborough area. The only one would be Tao Canteen across the street and now this one. Given that fact, I was quite excited to try the place out. There was actually more people than I expected at the restaurant as well. The prices are very reasonable and so are the portions. Their menu is quite extensive, which is nice to have so many options. Now onto why I gave the place 2 stars. The food was really mediocre. I ordered a baked chicken rice with tomato sauce. I have to say that it has to be one if not the worst one I have ever eaten at a HK style restaurant. The sauce was horrible, tasted like something out of a can, and was nothing like normal tomato sauce that would normally come with the dish. As well, the rice felt really dry and is definitely old rice because the rice was actually hard. Out of everything, the chicken was the only thing that was edible. I ordered the milk tea that came with the rice. The milk tea isn't amazing either as the the tea flavour was really lacking. Given the fact that there are many options an extra 5 minutes drive away, I would opt to go the extra mile for a much better meal. I hope they continue to improve as they have only recently changed the style of restaurant.

Always come here every Sunday. Food is fast, cheap and good! An absolute hidden gem with plentiful parking and friendly service. Would recommend for a quick meal!

Smallest fried egg I've ever seen in my whole life

Decided to try their breakfast menu. Well.... It's a big disappointment however I didn't expect to be good. That's the worst part. Ordered 2 breakfast, one came in reasonable timing and the other on is 30 mins late because the waiter gave me the wrong order. How I don't think I deserve to wait for 30mins. Food quality is lower then expect and my expectation has been lowered when I walked in.

Very reasonable price, clean and tidy. We like the taste of the food. We ordered satay deep fried pork with vermicelli noodles, a set menu of Yangzhou fried rice with soup and HK style milk tea and it costs $7.99 only.

This is T1, the pho, BEFORE I even started eating. It looks like it's half done. The portions are way too small.

I am never the hop-on-the-bandwagon trendsetter. Good Catch Cafe and Bar has been in downtown Markham for a few years. I decided to come here for an early dinner after work on Wednesday for the first time. This eatery is a part of The Origin, the mall that includes a Cineplex, Goodlife Fitness, Chatime, and more. This eatery has its entrance facing Enterprise Boulevard. When you're parked at the parking lot across from it, it gives you the impression that the entrance is by the patio. Maybe you can enter and exit this side door when it's summertime. I see a lot of references in a number of Yelp reviews here to this eatery being Good Catch Boil. I remember when it was more of a seafood place when it first opened for business. It then meandered into a Hong Kong-style eatery, which is the case today. I'm guessing that the boil trend wasn't as popular over time. I walked in. I looked at a screen to check in. It was probably 4 pm and it wasn't terribly busy. I passed. A female server came over and asked if I was dining as a party of one. I nodded. She pointed me to a booth. I was pleased and sat myself down. It was comfy. It's kind of like a sports bar, but it's casual. I caught up with the Blue Jays loss against the Yankees the night before. By the end of my dining experience, this restaurant had good music playing that made dining here more upbeat. She came over with a bunch of menus. She also had a printed QR code. I could either order online or wave at any staff member to place my order. Nice! There are daily specials. You get a free drink with your order if you drop by between certain afternoon hours. I decided to order through the online menu and got these items: - Iced lemon Ribena - Curry fish balls (15) - Wonton noodle soup Service was wonderful. The female server got me water and my iced lemon Ribena. I love the latter drink so much. It was excellent. It had the perfect amount of lemon with Ribena, all iced. The water was also great. It was cold despite not having any ice cubes in it. My curry fish balls came out first. The curry smelled so good. I loved each curry ball that I stabbed with a skewer and dunked into the curry sauce. Each fish ball was bouncy and yummy. The sauce had a slight spicy kick that I thoroughly enjoyed. I'd get them again. A male server came over with my bowl of wonton noodle soup. I had maybe ten different noodle options to choose from, from ramen, to udon. I choose thin noodles. If you want a noodle pull, you'll easily get it here. The noodles were delicious, long, and so good. They weren't clumpy. Perfect! I was surprised that I got broccoli. I ended up submerging the florets in the broth. They started off on the crunchier side. They softened up nicely and I enjoyed how healthy eating each floret made me feel. I am used to getting bok choy or no veggies with wonton noodle soup. It was nice that I got something different. The wontons were excellent. They had shrimp in them, which I am thinking that the seafood part of this business is still there. I loved the green onions in this bowl of deliciousness. The broth was perfect. It wasn't overly salty. I could taste sesame oil that was aded to it. I paid at the table. The female server asked if I was paying by cash or card. I rarely have the former on me, so it was my credit card. I tipped and tapped, and thanked her for everything. Staff are so nice here. I'd come back just for the service alone. The food and drink were amazing, so I'm definitely a fan who wants to return for more good eats and drinks. I used the washroom before leaving this eatery. When you walk into this restaurant, the washrooms are straight ahead, followed by a right turn. It was cool seeing bowls of noodles being made by kitchen staffers as I passed by to get to the washroom. The women's washroom was spacious and clean. No complaints. I'm so glad that I finally dropped by this eatery. At least three restaurants have closed recently at The Origin. I'm glad that this one is still thriving. I'd love to grab a bite to eat after a movie or simply come here to enjoy good Hong Kong-style dishes. (214)

They have plenty of seating but I know it can get busy in the weekends. I got the pineapple bun with satay beef & egg. I love the subtle sweetness of the bun and the egg is very fluffy! It also came with a drink so I ordered the horlicks. My husband got the bbq pork & egg on rice and the classic HK milk tea, which always hit the spot. Next time we'll probably try the seafood boil!

Beef fried rice noodles (hor fun), tons of sesame seeds and bean sprouts. Beef was tender and can taste the wok hey. However, the soy sauce is a bit on the sweeter side. Spicy pork soup vermicelli combo comes with eggs and toast. Soup vermicelli was good and flavorful. I opted for scrambled eggs and it was perfectly smooth and creamy. Toasts were a bit on a bland side. Curry fish ball, turnip and pig skin was decent. Slightly oily and also a bit on a sweeter note. Curry beef brisket has a hint of spicyness and has coconut milk. Nice curry taste but also a bit too sweet imo. Brisket was tender overall. Tomato sauce pork cutlet with rice was good flavour. Pork cutlet was crispy and juicy but tomato sauce was a little sweeter than usual. Coconut red bean drink was decent but the red beans were too hard and lacks the sandyness (softer texture). If you've had red bean dessert soup then you would know what i mean. Would of been better if the red bean quality was better. 4 stars overall.

It was my first time here, and the experience started off on the wrong foot. I had barely sat down, not even 30 seconds, before a staff member was already hovering over us trying to take our order. I hadn't even had a chance to look the menu yet, which immediately made things feel rushed and uncomfortable. The space itself is quite small, and they won't let smaller groups of two people or fewer sit in the booths, which adds to that cramped and slightly stressful atmosphere. There's people hovering nearby watching if you're almost done. Overall, the entire dining experience felt rushed from start to finish. The food is cheap, I'll give them that, but unfortunately the quality reflects that. I ordered a sandwich and it was sloppily put together. The bread slices were not even aligned properly, where the top slice and bottom slices were in opposite directions, making it so you couldn't pick it up. Flavour-wise, I was hoping for more of a Hong Kong cafe style satay beef, but this wasn't it. The curry was okay, with some decent chunks of meat and potato, but nothing particularly memorable. What really left a bad impression was the payment experience. Their debit machine defaults to 12%, 15%, or 18% tips calculated after tax, with no upfront notice or custom option. Tipping is not mandatory in Canada, and it should be up to the customer based on service. When we asked about it, the response felt as if we were being made to feel cheap over "just a few cents". Honestly it is not about the amount, it is about principle. If you are just looking for a quick and cheap bite, this place might do the job. But considering the long lines and how rushed the experience is, you might end up waiting longer than you actually get to sit and eat. Personally, I will not be coming back. I would rather get takeout or dine somewhere that lets you actually relax and enjoy your meal.

Hainanese chicken was delicious! Chicken was tender, rice has a nice flavour and you can tell they use the chicken broth they cooked the chicken to cook their rice. Comes with 3 sauces. Curry beef brisket was my favourite. Beef brisket was tender, the tender potatoes soaked up the curry sauce, and the curry was flavourful with a hint of spiciness. Lemon tea is good, but you really need to smash down the lemon to get that lemony taste. Will come back just for the curry beef brisket and hainanese chicken.

Despite how busy it was on a Saturday, the food came out at a pretty reasonable speed, which I appreciated. The macaroni soup was just okay, very much the kind of simple comfort food that fills you up, but nothing especially memorable. I was most excited for the signature beef sandwich, but it didn't fully meet my expectations. The burger/sandwich itself was smaller than I imagined, and it only had about 2-3 pieces of beef brisket inside with marinated bell peppers and their homemade sauce. The sauce leaned sweeter than expected, which might work for some people, but personally I was hoping for something more savoury and more generous with the beef. However, the brisket was tender, which was a win... ish. Overall, still a decent spot if you're craving classic HK cafe vibes and variety, especially for a casual meal with family.
