But thats the whole point of a privately owned restaurant signing up with Restaurant.com. I talked with the owner about that and he was very friendly, telling us that they've gotten more business due to the coupons, and I have to admit thats why we went there. The place was great and the staff was friendly. The food is made to order, and they ask you how spicy you'd like it. I chose medium and it was dead on. We arrived around 8:40 with the place closing at 9, and they did not rush us out or make us feel uncomfortable. You can really tell when people that own the place are working there, since they actually want your business and don't rush you out of hurry you along. Great place! Clean nothing was left on the tables. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their food. The menu has fair pricing the portions are big so it's seems filling.i personally ordered spring rolls w peanut sause by far the largest springs rolls I've ever seen at a Vietnamese restaurant. And the special Pho Dac Biet which is eye round meatballs brisket tripe and tendon. The soup was huge I did order the large. The smell of the broth did not catch me it was very faint the broth was extremely clear almost translucent (which I've noticed indicates it's been waters down.) the eye round I ordered on the side and it was cut thick and chunky the tendon tastes like it was straight boiled in star anise and cinnamon (very overbearing) the brisket has NO flavor whatsoever. The meat balls lacked tremendously as well. I had to add salt in every bite and just keep adding hoisin and Sriracha. I've never had to keep adding anything to a bowl of pho I've eaten else where. This was just not good I ended up leaving without even making it through a 1/4 of it. It was becoming to much to keep flavoring my food. The noodles as well were more pad Thai noodles vs typical skinny rice pho noodles. I wouldn't return. The service wasn't great one guy running 9 tables and the food was off putting. I come from San Francisco so i know pho. I ordered the pho special and was average to good. The soup and jalapeños needed a bit more flavor and one of the beefs they used wasnt ideal. I've been going here for a few years now ever since my employer relocated and we needed a closer restaurant for pho Friday. I'll start with the pho. It's good. The servings are plentiful, and if you order it for take out, they have no problem giving you extra sriracha and hoisin. The broth is pretty flavorful and I recommend it if you're feeling a cold coming on. It'll clear your sinuses up pretty well. "But Mike P. I'm not a fan of pho. Is this place still for me?" Well you should become a fan of pho, but I have some other favorites to recommend. Bo Luc Lac: I was a little pho'd out but I still wanted to eat with my coworkers. It's cubed steak with veggies. The sauce it what makes this stand out. I didn't feel that I need to spice it up with sriracha, and the meat wasn't overcooked. The veggies are good too. Red curry with chicken: I love Thai red curry. If I'm not getting pho from here, I'm getting red curry. Actually, if I go to any Thai place, I'm most likely going to order the red curry. The red curry here is great. The bamboo shoots are are slices instead of chunks, the the bell pepper add a nice texture to the meal. All of this soaks in the coconut milk with spices. Did I mention that this is the spiciest of the curries that they have on the menu? It is, but their regular hot does nothing for me now. I ordered it Thai hot, which they did not recommend that I do. Thai hot is now the only way that I can eat this. I'm sure I've done permanent damage to my taste buds, but it's okay. The other curries here are good too, but I love red curry. Tom Ka Chicken Soup: Kind of like the red curry, expect not at all. It's coconut soup with chicken. Also tasty. It's not super thick, but not too runny either. The Pho soup was really great,... I had the rare beef. I also had an order of summer rolls mmmm yummy but not 100% the same as the Colonialtown ones I compare all summer rolls to. The peanut sauce that is served with the summer rolls was "spot on". Unlike Pei Wei, where they really miss the mark for the summer roll sauce. Viet Thai's version has a great deal more noodles in them which made them larger. I would have liked to have more Thai basil, but hey! it just might be me. The prices were just a little more than what I am used to, but they don't have thousands of other Vietnamese Thai places to compete with in this area. Overall,... "I am a fan" the people were friendly and the food is fragrant and tastes good. I can see that this would be a great place for lunch, which is when I went and it was pretty busy. Restaurant.com strikes again as we find yet another gem that we otherwise never would have seen, and makes us fill ourselves beyond normal limits to make that $35 minimum happen. It's definitely a mixed blessing when you find it hard to make that minimum happen. Of course, it's bad because you want that $25 off. But then it's good, because that means the place is cheap! So in order to hit this minimum, we ordered the chicken satay appetizer to start, along with two cups of the Tom Yum Shrimp soup. The chicken satay was tasty, but the soup was incredible! Do yourself a REALLY big favor and try that. I'm sure you'll agree. Then, already starting to fill up a little and still reeling from the deliciousness of the soup, we ordered our main meals. We ordered relatively quickly and got food at about a time you would expect. I highly recommend the pad thai here as I try out pad thai pretty much everywhere we go that has it. I like mine to not be too spicy and they nailed it out of the park the first time. My wife a pho bowl and it was pretty well portioned for the price. The staff was very friendly and felt like they really wanted people to leave happy. The pho is below average as the broth doesn't have the original flavor pho should have. Note that the color of the broth is CLEAR.
