First time experiencing Vietnamese and Thai together! We normally see Chinese/Thai or Lao/Thai but never Viet/Thai! Love this combo since the Vietnamese side satisfies my Vietnamese parents and the Thai side satisfies my picky 5 year old who will only eat pad see ew. We got the pork rice platter (decent), bo luc lac (needs more flavor, but not bad), pad see ew (made with pho noodles maybe but flavorful), salty fish fried rice (good), and my mom got some noodle soup that I can't remember what it was but she liked it. A delicious treat, time after time. Viet Thai makes Pho that is among the best I've enjoyed. I usually have Pho shrimp, but find no fault with any of the other dishes I've had. Some restaurants may have menus with 100 items that they do "just all right". Viet Thai has fewer dishes that they do REALLY well. They're all delicious--Summer Rolls, Wonton Soup, Salted Fish fried rice and their Pad Thai are spectacularly done. I ordered a plate of pad see ew with chicken and it did not have the oily wok taste, it was bland and the greens had no flavor, I ended up throwing it away. The owner and staff are so sweet, but the food sucks. The waitress kept getting orders mixed up between tables. Their 15 hour pho broth is a point blank lie. Any Asian who eats and cooks pho at home often will know when they taste their pho. It is watered down and bland. Obviously made with powdered bouillon seasoning and not real beef bones and meat. Super disappointing! Tried the Singapore curry noodles and it was drenched in sauce...absolutely nauseating and couldn't finish. The tom yum soup is tasty, but not authentic. It was overpowered by the huge amount of tomatoes used and was more of a sour tomato soup. Papaya had good flavor but was a tad too salty, but again disappointed to see large chunks of frozen garlic used and the tomatoes weren't fresh. We used to be regulars here but will not be coming back after todays experience. We came as a group of 4 for lunch arriving around 12:10, after ordering and receiving our drinks and an order of summer rolls, we continued waiting for our entrees. At 12:45 after watching everyone around us get their food, even those that arrived after we had ordered, we asked for them to check on our order. We were first told it would be another 5-10minutes that the table next to us (who had their food when we arrived) had kept ordering food. When we pressed why others had gotten their food before us, we were told that we ordered after them, that our waiter had come to take our order and we stated we weren't ready so he took theirs. This never happened. Then the waiter went to check what time he put the order in I guess to further prove he was right and we were wrong, he came back said we were right that telling him we weren't ready never happened and told us the kitchen lost the order. Next we were told that they only have 1 wok and we are a table of 4 and that was the problem, there were tables of 8, 4 and 3 that All got their food at the same time and before us. Having to leave to get back to work we told him to make everything to go. We were told that he removed our drinks and summer roll order from the bill (we got those! Also I had water...). He then continued to argue with us trying to justify the delayed food and terrible service. We left, oh and the Pad Thai we ordered "hot" was just regular not spicy at all.... I tried this place for the first time a couple of weeks ago and since then I have been there 5 times. Yes, I am a little obsessed. The crispy calamari is delicious - I recommend- not just plain old calamari! The chicken satay was good...though I would say it was nothing special - same as most places. The crispy wings were also good. Finally the entree that brings me back is the Pad Se Ew. I LOVE it! It is the best I have had. Everyone has different tastes...but this one nails mine! The summer rolls were freshly made and tasted good, as well as the peanut sauce that had crushed peanuts too! My daughter asked for Thai Iced Coffee is she liked it! I asked for Coconut Juice. Generally it has the coconut flesh. This one had very few small pieces of coconut. The reason I am reviewing for 3 stars - my selection of Panang Curry did not taste fresh, either had the cinnamon, nutmeg flavors I am familiar with and expecting and was low on vegetables. I could even swear the green beans were probably frozen and not fresh.... I asked for medium and it tasted more like mild spicy. I like Thai food and I had left overs and did not take home! This is a great restaurant with very pleasant servers. As an appetizer, we had AWESOME coconut shrimp. They were soooooooo tasty. We also had the egg rolls. We do not like them, but that's a matter of taste not quality. 6 shrimp per order, NOT enough for 2 people. My wife had the Pho soup with beef. I had the Singapore noodles with shrimp.
