Although there are many pho options, I wish there was more variety of type of noodle soups (bun rieu, bun bo hue, etc.), but guess we are in Memphis. Pho is flavorful, meat is cooked just right and good portion, side dish of herbs to add are very fresh. For a quick and low-price fix, this is a perfect place to go. One of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants in Memphis. Always come in looking forward to quality, authentic Vietnamese food. First of all the shrimp fried rice here is DELICIOUS. I mean it - and the rest of my Viet family mean it. The flavor and quality of the rice is incredible and we're not even sure how they do it. I got the pho here and it was a solid bowl. I really love how they put a lot of herbs inside and there was a lot of meat. The broth was delicious and I felt like there was no need to add additional hoisin sauce inside. The only complaint I have is that the rare beef was cut too thick and was kinda tough to eat. Again on the quest to find some yummy vegetarian pho, and Vietnam Restaurant delivered! The lady taking my order was super sweet. Good portion, great flavors, variety of items in the soup. It was filled with tofu, bok choy, broccoli, snap peas, button mushrooms and carrots. The broth itself was also tasty, a perfect amount of sweetness and umami. I had to do my civic duty and got released at lunch time so I head over here. I haven't eaten Vietnamese since before the pandemic and I guess I really missed it because I pretty much ate 2 entrees by myself. The person who took my order assumed 1 was for here and 1 was to-go. Nope! I'm eating both here. I ordered number 3 which was pho with eye round and brisket. I also ordered the bbq pork with egg roll vermicelli. The food came out fairly quickly. I had asked for them to cook my bean sprouts but I guess they forgot to. I don't like cilantro but I decided to suck it up and just eat the pho as is. For some reason I got all of the cilantro stems instead of the cilantro leaves but whatever. They were both so delicious. There was a lot more vermicelli though than toppings so I ended up actually throwing some of the pho meat on top of the vermicelli. I added the egg roll dipping sauce on top of the vermicelli. Everything was so delicious. I did ask for a to go cup though so that I could take the pho soup home and re-use with some noodles I have at home :) can't waste good soup!! Delicious!!! I've pretty much only had the pho and some spring rolls. The broth is pretty good but there is something off about the hoisin sauce. I have tried it in various bottles at the restaurant and they all taste like they have turned. My guess is they have a giant reserve of hoisin in the back and are using it to refill all the bottles at the table and that giant reserve has gone bad. Pretty gross. We came here a little after 9 last Saturday morning praying they would be open. Typically pho restaurants open around 10:30-11:00 so I knew this was a long shot...but we were hungry and we had already made up our minds that we were having pho after the St. Jude 5k. As we were pulling up, I noticed the lights were on inside. I parked right in front of the door in order to see their hours. Told my nephew I was sorry and they didn't open until 10. I quickly opened my Yelp app up to find a nearby Starbucks as a pick me up. As I was searching, a woman comes out from the restaurant and motions for us to come in. "They're open!!! Get out!! Let's go!" It felt like I was walking into my aunts house. She was so welcoming! Of course, we both got the pho with the rare beef and beef balls (yum!) and the mandatory spring rolls. Since Saigon Le burned to the ground, I have been searching for my favorite dishes, and sadly, I've not been able to find them. Saigon Le is the baseline by which I judge Vietnamese food, and Vietnam Restaurant did not measure up. What little I have learned about this food didn't seem to be on the menu. There were lunch specials but there seemed to be nothing with eggroll, soup, and fried rice. The menu for me seemed hard to navigate and made the decision difficult for me. I settled for number 123 for a battered crispy squid which seemed to me more like an appetizer rather than a meal. With tea and tax I paid $17 for lunch. I still wanted more food. Okay, we were driving around Midtown in the pouring rain, looking for a place to grab lunch. I was craving Vietnamese food so I suggested Vietnam on Poplar. When we arrived at what I knew to be the "location", it wasn't there, granted I had not been there in awhile but completely disappeared? So, dejected we soldiered on around the corner to Cleveland in search of Saigon Le, which sadly had burned to the ground the night before! I've only had one visit here and I'm in love. I can not wait to return! The location is bigger and cleaner than most other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. Service was also above average. The selection here is intense! So many great choices! They even have hot pot! Hot pot in Memphis!!! Who knew! My friend and I ordered the typical beginner pho and the veggie pho. Meh. Maybe it's just me, but I really didn't enjoy my meal here. Yes the place is nice, new and clean with a friendly staff but I was just unimpressed with the food. My husband and I ordered our basics staples, lemongrass tofu and Mongolian beef (lunch menu). I've eaten these 2 dishes at almost every other Vietnamese restaurant in Memphis and we were disappointed. The tofu had a decent flavor but was soggy; nothing like the crisp fried goodness at other places. Who wants to eat soggy tofu?! Also the sauce with the Mongolian beef had a strange gooey consistency which made the dish unappetizing. However we did like the spring rolls, fresh and filled with aromatic basil. It must be my lucky day to have found two gems back to back in Memphis! While browsing Yelp, I found Vietnam and man am I thankful! Located in what seems to be the Little Saigon part of town, this diamond in the rough certainly packs a big punch! While looking at the pictures Yelp, the Bun Bo Hue had me craving for some of that spicy beef broth! The restaurant's decor was your typical Asian theme. It was larger than I expected and cleaner too considering the exterior and the area I was in. But I never judge a book by its cover. My friend and I sat down and was quickly assisted by no less than 3 different servers. A older man took our drink order, and younger guy took our food order and the food was brought out by a woman who seemed to be the owner. Talk about team work. Now to the food! The Bun bo hue came out and let me tell you, I was already impressed by the color of the broth and the aroma. It was filled with pork, beef and veggies galore! Even stirring the bowl, the broth stayed consistently red. Not water down. The broth was flavorful; it almost reminded me of Bo Kho, which is a beef stew, but has an underlying sweetness to balance. It was a new way of making BBH but it was executed perfectly! 4/5 My friend ordered the Bun Rieu and I sipped her broth, too. It required a little shrimp paste but it was packed with crab meat balls and tofu and Vietnamese ham slices that made my tummy dance! 3/5 All in all, for a place like Vietnam Restaurant in the middle of Memphis, this is one of the best! I got to the restaurant about 10:15, there were at least two customers and several family there. Service was polite and prompt. English was not spoken. I ordered a seafood Pho and egg rolls and spring rolls to take home. The pho was very nice with lots of crab sticks, calamari, fish loaf onions and cilantro. The broth was pretty mild but I'm used to beef Pho. Came with lots of bean sprouts, cilantro and basil. There were many choices of spring roll - I chose shrimp which were very nice but what was exceptional was the peanut sauce. Must have had some hoisin sauce in it - really delicious. I walked in late afternoon 3pm-ish and was the only one there. A couple of minutes later a party of four followed. I ordered the fried egg rolls and a combination pho. A good and efficient pho restaurant is fast. It's the noodles topped with ingredients and then very hot broth. 25 mins in I get my egg rolls and then my pho one minute later (the other party was served first). The egg rolls were good sized. First bite I notice they were saltier then I would have liked. The pho itself was around a 6/10. Now I've eaten pho all around the US. Vietnam is on my bucket list. The first thing I notice is the beef is not rare on top as I am accustomed too....no biggie. I take a sip of the broth since that's the game changer. Everyone knows that's what makes or breaks a good pho. This one was lacking depth and richness and far sweeter that I like. I could recreate this in my mind by taking 1/2 bowl of good broth and 1/2 bowl of msg enhanced water and then mixing it together with 1/2 tbs of sugar. I was also given lemon instead of lime. Service was slightly below average. The lady seemed more interested in the Vietnamese soaps on tv than anything else. 10/10 would highly recommend . After falling in love with Pho in San Diego I had low expectations for Memphis, however this spot is my go-to Pho fix!! Broth is flavorful and not too sweet, with a good consistency and not thin. Noodles are good quality. (Even when I get take out, they separate well at home in the broth and remain elastic through the entire meal.) Plenty of basil and cilantro with every dish!! That's important to me! Spouts are usually fresh, although maybe 10% of the time they look a little meh, and then I leave them out. Rare steak is a good cut that is tender when added to the broth. (With take out, they wrap the steak in a plastic baggie separate from other ingredients which I like ) I've also discovered "Gam" or tendon in pho here, which is freaking extraordinary. The tendon softens to a yummy glutinous texture in the broth and is also super packed with nutrients! It's like eating lumps of butter in your soup! Spring rolls are tasty with non-rubbery shrimp inside and basil. Peanut dipping sauce obviously has peanut butter in it, I prefer peanut flavor without the nut butter, which changes the consistency, but that's my only complaint. Bubble tea is also really yummy!! They have the best tapioca "bubble" pearls that I've found in Memphis, not hard on the inside or goopy, just perfectly gelatinous and chewy. I got lychee tea which also had A BUNCH of lychee in it! I was impressed! And of course it was freaking delicious. Finally, they also have Vietnamese munchies take away food at the counter, and they have huge pork buns that are amazing re-heating for breakfast or lunch the next day! Full of delicious pork/veggie sausage mixture and half a boiled egg. May dry out a bit if not steamed. I eat here at least once a week and would highly recommend it above the other pho restaurants nearby! Ingredients are a cut above! read more

We are from Austin and I haven't had pho since October. I had to get my pho fix!!! We came here based on reviews. The prices were very reasonable and the server was very accommodating. My husband wanted pad Thai and they didn't have that but the man said he could make the closest thing by switching noodles on a dish. The shrimp rolls were fresh and delicious. I will absolutely go back! Excellent food and service!!! My pho fix is satisfied! We live an hour away so I even got some broth to go for my next pho breakdown! I was a regular at Pho Vietnam on Poplar before they closed. Needless to say, I was SUPER EXCITED when I learned that they'd re-opened on Cleveland. Usually I opt for #15 Pho Hai San or #5 Pho Tai Gan, and Lychee bubble tea with jelly; however, on my last visit I decided to try #20 Pho Bo Kho (yes, because of the CA review) and I'm glad I did. The Vietnamese Beef Stew was soothing and reminded me of my childhood slurping down my moms beef stew. The carrots, large chunks of melt in your mouth beef, and onion was the same as my moms, but the addition of cinnamon, star anise, ginger, lemongrass, annatto oil, curry powder, fish sauce, and soy sauce provided a kick of flavor that my moms stew could never touch (I hope she NEVER reads this review...lol). There are so many wonderful flavors in this Pho. It's like a winter party on my tongue. The additional fresh herbs, basil, cilantro, sprouts, and green onion, and fresh jalapeño add more depth to the stew and let's you put your own spin to the delectable broth. It makes me feel as if there's no two bowls that are the same because no one is going to dress their Pho the way that I do. This place will ALWAYS receive 5 stars from me.
