Abstract: typical government office that's actually worst than the DMV They never answer the phone and their website has outdated information. Just FYI everyone They're only open from 9am-12pm M-F. They call your number once and if you don't run up they just move on to the next number. But once it's your turn they're pretty helpful and nice.

Yelp must have added this as a new business although there are existing reviews under the another Yelp listing. Hubby & I downloaded our Vietnam visa applications and walked the completed forms into the office located in the mixed use building on California St. & Van Ness Av. The building is located across the street from Whole Foods. We decided we would leave our original passports with our application form as we wanted the visa that sticks inside the passport versus the loose sheet visa. We arrived around 9:30'ish on a Tuesday. We walked straight up to the window. No one else in line. We paid $80 single entry 30 day visa per person. Charged fees to my credit card. Was advised to return in 3 business days to pick up our passports and visas. Came back around 9:45'ish on Friday and picked up our passports. Checked to make sure the visas were correct and off we went. Very easy process. The only thing was attempting to find street parking although there is a parking garage located at 1700 California St. We parked on Polk St. and walked up.

Getting my Vietnam tourist visa was super easy. I spent a total of 5 minutes at the consulate, 3 minutes to drop off the application, and 2 minutes to pick it up 3 days later. To get your visa, your passport needs to have at least 6 months validity from your exit date. You should fill out the application form online and bring a printed copy of the completed application to the consulate, along with your passport, a recent passport photo, and cash ($150 for a 1 month multiple entry visa). The visa will be ready for pickup 3 business days later. There was no wait both times that I was there, and the staff was courteous and efficient. Street parking was pretty easy too.

Waiting area of the consulate, no computer or printer here like the one in Taipei, so make sure you have all your correct paperwork!

I lined up at 8:15 Am, they opened at 8:30 Am. The staff are super friendly and nice as they walked passed us to open the consulate for business. I submitted all the correct paperwork, so I got my visa pretty quick, about an hour waiting. There are different prices for the types of visa you're applying. Mine was about $100 for expedited service. Cash or Credit cards only. make sure to call them BEFORE you get yourself, they may or may not grant you the type of visa you want. I seen a couple people got turned away because they have the wrong paperwork.

I got my one month Visa ! Kinda expensive though... $110 urgh

I've been calling in everyday they never picked up. Does anyone know the fee for 3 month single entry visa?

    Same to me

Does anyone know what is the fee for passport renewal? I can't find it in the official website. Thanks.

    $110.00 on their website. http://vietnamconsulate-sf.org/en/category/consular-services/

What is the fee for a first-time Vietnamese passport? I can't seem to find an answer anywhere. Thank you!

$70 for the 5 year visa if you were born in Vietnam.

The officers at the front entrance were pleasant and patient. The receptionist at the third floor where the office was at took down our appointment number and gave us a number instantly. We walked up to the first window where all documents were checked and told to have a seat. We were called to a window in less than five minutes. The process was completed within ten minutes. We were told to come back at 3:00 to pick up her passport. They allowed us to line up at 2:45 and had the passport in hand by 3:00. I complimented multiple times that they had a great system. I had went back in 2018 and got in line at 6:00AM. During a time where walk in were still taken. That was a 3 hour wait until I got to the window. This process from when we entered to when it was complete took a total of 25 minutes. It took longer to find parking than to get the passport application done. It's still best to be prepared. Paperwork in order, pictures taken beforehand. They only take contactless payment and not money orders or checks. Very simple, very seamless. Salute to the SF passport agency and all the federal officers at the door.

I panicked when I saw that passports need at least six months validity and started looking for ways to get it renewed quickly. I scheduled an appointment at the San Francisco Passport Agency for Thursday morning at 9:30. I took BART and walked about seven minutes to the building. When you get there, you go through security and take the elevator up to the passport agency. I was second in line and was in and out in less than eight minutes. The staff were extremely friendly, and the lady at the counter was able to expedite my passport for same-day pick up. I would have had to pick it up at 4 PM, but I couldn't stay in the city all day, so I opted to pick it up on Monday instead. One thing to note is that having all your paperwork ready is crucial. They mention everything you need online, and when I was there, a lot of people were scrambling to fill out forms on the floor. Come prepared if you want a smooth, fast experience. On Monday, I returned to pick up my passport. I was literally the only person there and was in and out in less than eight minutes. Overall, this was hands down the smoothest passport process I've ever experienced.

After four years still nothing changed. Here is my updated review from March 2026 I applied for OCI miscellaneous services through the Government of India website. The online application process itself was actually quite easy compared to a few years ago. However, the problems started after submitting the application. The instructions said to create an account with VFS and follow their guidelines. Unfortunately, the instructions were not clear either on the Indian government website or on the VFS website. I mailed my physical application along with a check to VFS, and it has now been 14 business days with no response. When I try to track the application online, the VFS website does not work properly. When I attempt to contact them through the online support system, I cannot even submit a query because the page stalls. I also tried calling their customer service number. They mention that the first 10 minutes are free, but after that it costs $2.48 per minute, which is ridiculous. Even after calling, the service was very poor. The representatives were not able to answer my questions and simply kept telling me to track the status online. However, the main issue is that their website itself is not working, so I have no other way to get information about my application. Overall, the service experience has been extremely frustrating. I am not sure why the Government of India has hired this company to handle such important application processing.
