We live barely a mile away and nearly drove past. The sign was not illuminated, it looked quiet, and for a moment we assumed it might be closed. I am very glad we turned up the driveway and drove behind the large house, because what we found may be my favorite restaurant in Saint Albans, and possibly all of Vermont. From the outside, nothing hints at what is waiting inside. But the moment the door opened, the aromas of Vietnamese cooking filled the space and it felt like stepping into a hidden paradise. A small note for first-time visitors. Trang's Kitchen requires a bit of sleuthing. Their online information is not entirely accurate. They do not currently offer onsite dining, despite what the website says. The full menu is not available every day, and pho is made only on weekends and must be ordered with that in mind. This is not a complaint, it is simply the nature of a small, focused kitchen doing things their way. What they do offer is a tight menu where every dish is excellent. We ordered Vietnamese egg rolls, fried chicken, shaking beef, beef noodles, and chicken noodles. We waited in their small seating area for our takeout, then drove home and sat down to an outstanding meal. The Vietnamese egg rolls were exactly how they should be, longer, thinner, and far more flavorful than the typical Chinese-American egg roll that is mostly cabbage. These were crisp, well-seasoned, and satisfying. The fried chicken was perfectly cooked, crackling on the outside and juicy inside, excellent on its own and even better dipped in the sauce or a bit of Sriracha. Both noodle dishes were cooked properly and full of flavor, balanced and comforting without being heavy. The shaking beef was a standout. It is something I would not normally order at a Vietnamese restaurant, yet it was deeply flavorful and beautifully done. I make pho often at home and am genuinely excited to try Trang's version and compare. I have eaten a great deal of Vietnamese food over the years, and I was pleasantly surprised by how authentic and well-executed everything here was. Trang's Kitchen is a small, modest place doing serious cooking. I cannot recommend strongly enough that you seek it out, support this tiny restaurant, and enjoy a truly great meal.

After a long travel day we were happy to have some delicious food. The space was clean and had plenty of room to sit. Our server was very kind and patient. I love Vietnamese food, especially noodle bowls, so I got the bun dac biet. Nate got the spicy curry and my friend got the tofu noodles. We also ordered the dumplings to share. The menu is large and has lots of vegetarian options. The bun dac biet was a large portion and I was starving, but I even had leftovers (that were great the next day). The noodles were tender and the sauce was flavorful. All the meat was cooked nicely, and I loved the crispy egg roll. If I lived nearby, this would be a go-to spot for me.

To me the soup was to salty, but the wontons were delicious. So I cut them up with the meal. We shared a meal since hubs wasn't hungry. I cannot remember the name of the dish i had but it was chicken and ginger. It was delicious! I could really taste the ginger, but it wasn't overpowering. We also had pearl tea which was really yummy as well. I wanted to try some of the appetizers but I knew we wouldn't finish them all. The staff here ate very helpful and friendly and the restaurant is clean and well decorated. Check this one out if your in the area!

The vibe is clean, cozy, and casual ... perfect for a comforting bowl of pho. It has that laid-back Vietnamese street food feel without being loud or chaotic, making it a great spot for both quick meals and sit-down dinners. The service was warm, attentive, and efficient. Staff checked in just the right amount, were happy to answer questions, and made sure everything came out fresh and hot. You really feel welcomed here, which adds to the overall experience. For starters, my wife and I shared the CHẢ GIÒ (Crispy Veggie Spring Rolls - $5). These were perfectly golden and crispy on the outside, light and flavorful on the inside, and paired nicely with the dipping sauce. A simple starter done very well. For our entrée, we didn't even hesitate ... we both went straight for the pho. The PHỞ CHÍN (Slow Cooked Tender Brisket - $16) was outstanding. The broth was rich, aromatic, and deeply flavorful, clearly simmered with care. The brisket was incredibly tender, the noodles were cooked just right, and the bowl was generous and comforting from the first sip to the last bite. Pho Son continues to prove why it's a go-to spot for authentic, satisfying Vietnamese food. Three visits in, and the quality, flavor, and service remain consistently excellent. If you're craving great pho and a welcoming dining experience, this place is absolutely worth it. We'll definitely be back again.
