First time here with family who visits this place regularly. Food is excellent! Spring rolls were so good we ordered two more orders of them. Our 7 year old had them for first time and loved them as well. My wife and I ordered the shrimp PHO each and daughter in law had the beef PHO. She gets this everytime she comes here. My son had the fried salt and pepper with the combo of shrimp and calamari. I will get that next time. All were delicious. The red wine was a good price that we ordered. Good not great. We had a fantastic meal at Vietnam Central from start to finish. We kicked things off with the garlic shrimp, which immediately reminded me of tempura shrimp -- light, crispy, and coated in a creamy garlic sauce that was rich without being heavy. A great way to start the meal. Next up was the mango catfish, which was hot, crispy, and full of flavor. The mango brought an unexpected bit of heat and sweetness that worked surprisingly well -- definitely a standout dish and a pleasant surprise. For our mains, we both ordered the beef pho, which arrived piping hot, deeply comforting, and incredibly filling. Perfectly warming and exactly what you want from a good bowl of pho. Dessert sealed the deal. The flan was slightly overdone but still enjoyable, and the ube ice cream was excellent on its own. But when you combine the two? Pure bliss. My favorite restaurant. My wife and goddaughter took me here on my birthday . We come here at least twice a month or more . Their food and service is always stellar. This is the only place which I can claim has the best stir fried garlic French string beans. This is by far my favorite appetizer. Of course their pho is always #1 in all of Westchester. Our first time here driving from Catskills back home. We stopped by during lunch hours on a Saturday and had to wait for a table. Wasn't terribly long of a wait and the place looked happening with bunch of patrons. My son and I both ordered beef pho for about $18 each. It didn't come in a super large bowl and I was bit apprehensive at first of the portion size. Luckily, they did pack the bowl well, and it had enough soup broth to make it lasting. It was delicious and we didn't feel super parched at all after the meal. My wife ordered the grilled pork chop over rice lunch special for about $15. There are lunch vs dinner portion and it's nice that there are lunch portions at a tad cheaper price. The pork chop was had ton of flavor and didn't feel super dry at any point. They ran out of the sesame balls so we got one order of the ube ice cream. That too was a home run. We would recommend this place. read more

We paid $45 for what I felt like was $25-30 worth of food. So, while the food was tasty, I wouldn't order again at this price. DGAF waiters, the smell of lemongrass fills the air, and some crazy screaming in the back. All indications of a nice vietnamese family owned restaurant. So I expected more from the food. Don't get me wrong it wasnt bad, but as someone that grew up in asian central in LA this place was pretty lackluster. Not a good experience- overpriced, horrible service & was dishonestly charged credit card prices when bill was paid with cash. Walked in & was the only one waiting to be seated. Stood there for approximately 5 minutes & no server even acknowledged us...even though they made eye contact & walked in our direction. It takes 2 seconds to say we'll be right with you. We should've left at that point but decided to give it a try as this was our first time at this restaurant. We were seated...had to wait another 10 minutes to place our order. Food is overpriced & not tasty. This is not my first time having Vietnamese food elsewhere. Food took 20 minutes to arrive. Servers do not ever return to ask if everything is ok. Had to hunt down a server to ask for a bit of oyster sauce because one of our dishes was dry. Seemed to not be an issue as he said yes to the request. He left & returned to the table pretty much refusing to give what I asked for and insisted we take a tiny scoop of soy sauce. For the prices they charge they sure do skimp. The small amount of soy sauce made the dish taste even worse. Same server had an issue when we asked for chop sticks. Every other table received chop sticks without even asking. Finally time to pay. This place has cash and credit menu prices. We paid with cash & the server looked inside the booklet at our table & saw cash . The server never brought us back our change & was nowhere to be found, so they took it upon themselves to charge the credit card price. To make things worse, we felt we were being rushed out as several workers came to our table acting like they care about how our meal was. Where were all these servers while we were eating..definitely not checking on us but now they appear when it's time to force us out & clear the table. I see other reviews here that mention they paid cash but were charged credit prices. Horrible dishonest business practices. Right off the bat, some quick positives for me were the big parking lot, friendly service, and clean space. My family and I ordered food from Vietnam Central for a weekday dinner takeout. The restaurant actually had quite a few people dining around 3pm. The menu is on the smaller side, and I'd say many of the dishes aren't your classic Vietnamese dishes - but they were good. They seemed more to be Asian fusion. The mock beef in mushroom sauce was good and lasted more than one meal, and I would definitely get the Vietnam's Hot Wings again. The Grilled Marinated Pork Chop was a little small but tasty. No Vietnamese restaurant owner/chef with a modicum of self-respect would serve substandard food that betrays the Vietnamese cuisine while robbing the customer of a good dining experience given the high prices charged. I am Chinese, grew up in Vietnam so I know Vietnamese food. Vietnamese cuisine is world renowned for its exquisite range of flavors and depth, but you will never know this if you eat at Vietnam's Central in Scarsdale. I have never left a restaurant feeling conned by a fast-talking owner/ schmoozer who tells you, on the one hand, that only he and his wife do the cooking in order to keep the food quality consistently high, and on the other, serve spring rolls that are all wrapping with almost no filling and not freshly fried (taste like they were just warmed up) and an inferior beef pho - the worst I have had in a long time (broth with no depth, small amount of noodles, a few tiny pieces of tasteless beef, small amount of cilantro and scallions) and did not come with a side dish of bean sprouts, basil, and lime. When asked about the lime, a single thin sliver of lime showed up. Is this restaurant so hard up that it must skimp on ingredients that make for a rich and flavorful pho. My husband, who never complains about food at a restaurant, was appalled that the crispy beef fried noodle dish he ordered was made up of a block of off-the-shelf dried uncooked noodles with stir fried vegetables dumped on top. There was hardly any beef and the sauce was watery. The one dish that was good was the green beans with garlic but the portion was ridiculously small for the price. I wouldn't have been pushed to write a negative review had the owner not foisted his unsold fried sesame rice balls on us at the end of our meal. We repeatedly told him we were not interested in dessert but he insisted that we try his sesame rice balls with three different kinds of fillings. If we didn't like them, he said, he wouldn't charge us. The rice balls turned out to be cold and stale. When confronted, he confessed they were made half an hour ago (unlikely). When the bill came, we were still charged. It was evident that the owner was intent on squeezing another $10 from us for his left-over dessert. Do not go to this restaurant if you are looking for well-prepared Vietnamese food that does not skimp on ingredients and portion size for the sake of squeezing the most money out of the customer. I would like to give a 4.5 but alas, the stars don't allow it!! We just dined here this evening so this is a Wednesday night at 7:30p. Not many diners at this time. I love going out on weeknights!! I don't want to be around the masses! Lol. The food was very good!! For appetizers, we had the short ribs and the wings. The wings could use some kick so the sriracha on the side was clutch. We had to have some pho because it's a Vietnamese restaurant. We went for the beef and the shrimp ones. I liked the beef more than the shrimp. The broth could have used more flavor and I wanted more fresh cilantro too! I'm from CA where the Vietnamese food is SO good, so it's hard to impress me!! I've had some better pho in Manhattan. Still, the beef one was comforting and yummy. They were able to do a grilled chicken entree instead of pork which had a really good lemongrass sauce. Last but not least, dessert!! Went for dinner with my family expecting authentic pho and spring rolls. the spring rolls come with thai dipping sauce and no lettuce for wrapping. btw the price is $8.50 for 3 rolls. I would not recommend getting these. we had the beef pho and they were nice enough to accommodate our preferences. I enjoyed the pho but it was lacking in meat. it was eating a bowl full of noodles with cilantro and bits of meat. my husband felt the broth was lacking flavor. the interior itself was very modern and had a nice vibe for dining. but the air was on high and made it cold dining inside. the staff was friendly though favored the non asian customers. we asked for a booth but was told it was reserved, only to watch a non asian family sit down in the booth and decide they wanted to move to another booth. overall, average tasting vietnamese food and would do take out but not dine in. read more

They also calculated the automatic 20% tip on the check subtotal PLUS the credit card fee. Very sneaky. Also, my dad didn't like the message to tip "20% and up" and the restaurant already automatically added 20% tip. Came here for dinner on a Wednesday evening-- very Covid compliant (masks required, spaced out tables). We were instantly welcomed as soon as we walked in and were able to sit immediately (party of 3). The menu was extensive with lots of tasty options. The owner was the one who took care of our order and gave some great suggestions/accommodation to our dietary restrictions. The food was SO fresh/full of flavor and the service was equally as great. Much recommend and will be back for sure. **the only "complaint" I have, which isn't the restaurants fault AT ALL is, the fitness gym next door plays their music extremely loud/bass high which, can be heard/vibrates the entire restaurant. Have you ever had a restaurant on your "places to visit list" but still keep on gravitating towards your usual spots? Vietnam's Central was on my list since moving to Westchester and I finally decided to stop by one night after being tired of having the same things. I was not disappointed and was actually upset that I hadn't stopped by earlier during my time of living here! Upon arrival I was honestly not expecting the best service as the waiter just motioned for us to sit anywhere and then did a drive by and just dropped off the menus. This all changed in the blink of an eye when the same waiter/owner? stopped by to take our orders. He was actually really really nice and funny. He took his time letting us know why their style of cooking was different and what we should expect from the dishes we ordered. The grilled pork chops were perfectly cooked and plenty enough for my wife and I to share. The jasmine fried rice (we added shrimp) on the other hand was hard to share as it was sooo good! Not too greasy and plenty of flavor. We ended up ordering two desserts upon recommendation from the same waiter/owner? We got the caramel flan and taro pudding. He warned us that the flan would probably be different than what we were typically accustomed to having due to the way it was cooked (I'm Dominican so it's safe to say that I know my flans!). He was 100% right as this flan was very different in the best of ways! Light, airy, and just the right amount of sweetness topped off with a lovey caramelized coffee syrup. You get used to what you like and it definitely becomes comforting to know that you won't be disappointed when you go to your favorite spots.
