The food is always so warm and nice when we go. The owner is friendly and the food it self is just so good. We order Papaya salad, curry puffs, thai tea, pad thai and fried rice. Although the food doesn't get too much flavorful you can still enjoy enough and feel that its genuinely made and home made. The fried rice and noodles are cooked perfectly. We also love the mango sticky rice! I would recommend to enhance the flavor of the pad Thai sauce and a bit more fluffiness on the rice but overall it was so good and always quiet and calm environment there even if there are customers. I happen to be in the area and decided to pop in to eat before driving home. I just went to Thailand earlier this year, and ever since coming back, I have felt the Thai food in NYC is nothing compared to what I experienced on vacation. I have only been able to found a few places in NY that feel like the motherland. And this was one of those places. The taste of the food was incredibly flavorful. The staff was nice and attentive, the place is decorated with authentic items, and then even have a small bar. The prices were astonishingly low for NY. It's affordable and delicious. We used to come here ALL THE TIME and forgot about it during after the Covid haze. It's smallish. The wait staff are very attentive and responsive. Lighting was amazing. No music--happy joy joy. Seats were comfortable and table tops were covered by glass. Hello....the 1970s must be calling them and asking for them back. It really cheapened an otherwise cozy and classy ambiance. As for food. I got the Siam combo which was delicious is spice, flavor and temperature. It had chicken satay, beef satay, spring rolls and dumplings. Yay! For main I got the pepper chicken and, for two dollars more--got a shrimp and combo. The portion was plentiful but the chicken was dry and bland and barely edible. The shrimp were ok--but nondescript. Vegetables were soggy or undercooked depending if broccoli or carrots respectively. The dish was bland and sans flavor.I never ordered before and I will never order it again. It was really devoid of spice. Now, the massaman chicken was yummy. Thick and richly flavorful gravy and plentiful and well proportioned contents. The chicken chunks were moist and tender and potatoes perfectly cooked. The pineapple was a nice accent. The cashews were soft and delicious. Sadly, the pepper chicken was a bad fumble and to call my culinary experience average therefore would be gratuitous. Feel terrible for two stars since service was great and two of the dishes were big wins--but that dish sullied ny experience, depressed and disenchanted me and plunged me into a state of despondency. read more

This is a small pleasant place. I had soft shell crab with ginger sauce, which was excellent and a salad with a tangy dressing with lemon grass flavor. We were served by individuals who appeared to be the owners. I look forward to going back. For the very first time I walked out of a restaurant because it was impossible to get any service - and I mean nothing - not even a glass of water poured at the table - and this after half an hour sitting down with a menu.. Never even had a chance to speak to a waiter. Seriously - we were finally seated after fifteen minutes awkwardly standing in the entrance with another couple, (and it's not as if the place was full either!) painfully trying to get someone's attention. The odd thing is from the many great reviews on Yelp on the quality of the food, is that it's consistently fine and delicious......BUT we "should expect slow service" Ha...slow is an understatement After thirty five minutes total (it became such an SNL sketch that I started the stopwatch on my iPhone as a bet - and sure enough I won - twenty minutes later I stormed out in silent protest - with nary an exclamation from either of the two senile senior waiters.....not surprised I suppose because they seemed to only vaguely react to light - maybe when I have five hours to kill and an appetite I might venture here again as I am still curious about the decent Thai food but not worth the wait is beyond a joke now. read more

I've lived here for years and finally decided to try this place. The Thai iced tea was great. But the curry puffs and the drunken noodles tasted mid. Extremely bad. Under seasoned, smelled old, just had no flavor. I literally added my own seasoning to this meal just to get it down. My brother enjoyed his pad Thai tho and the yellow curry was good. Light, clean, flavorful food. We were looking for a Thai spot that could replace our favorite place in Manhattan...and Siam Orchid is it! The sauces are light and well-flavored, not greasy or heavy. They are generous with the amount of meat and vegetables in the noodle and stir-fry dishes. Fried appetizers are crispy without leaving slicks of oil on your hands. We especially love the Black Pepper Garlic stir-fry, Tom Yum soup, and curry puff appetizer. We've never eaten inside (moved to the area during COVID restrictions), but when we come to pick up the food the restaurant is clean and atmosphere is quiet. We usually go to the restaurant once a week, the owner/administrator already knows what we want. We love the food, and how it has a home made taste. This restaurant I've been passing by it since the 1990's. Finally, yesterday (Saturday, June 1, 2019) I decided to give it a try and I'm so happy I did. I had the chicken pad Thai with 2 appetizers, the fried calamari and the steamed dumplings. Every bit of food I had was delicious. The service was great and the place was packed for an early Saturday evening with all of the guests engaging in great conversation while enjoying their food. I must have come on an off night. Ive been to six or seven thai restaurants in Westchester (little thai kitchen, thai hut, sawadee, d-thai, bangkok spice, and bangkok city) and nyc, usually ordering the same dish (thai basil with chicken), and the item at siam orchid was the worst I've tasted in many ways, both greasier and less flavorful. Its a hot dish by standard preparation, but had zero spice at siam orchid. It was also prepared different at siam orchid, compared to how it was prepared at the six or seven other thai restaurants Ive visited (using ground chicken versus sliced chicken). I even checked the receipt to ensure the waitress heard me correctly. I can't recommend the food at siam orchid, which is unfortunate as service was very pleasant and the restaurant is comfortable. read more

On a Friday night they had 1 person doing the take out orders and that same person was the waiter for all the tables in the restaurant, and he was also the same person making all the drinks. And 1 person did all the cooking. So only 2 people on staff for a Friday night. I mean maybe there was other people there that we didn't see but my mother and I didn't even order dessert because everything was taking so long.
