Came to this gorgeous venue for a bridal shower and I'm so excited that this is the spot my besty booked for her wedding next year! It's gorgeous! So bright with beautiful expansive views of the great South Bay. Valet parking was a breeze and so was finding my girls bridal shower in this brightly lit room with sunlight flooding in! Ya girl was first on the buffet line and had no shame in overflowing her plate and then going back for seconds lol. This restaurant is located in Oakdale by a prime water view location. I had read that in 2010, Lessing's revitalized the old Riverview Restaurant and opened the new View Restaurant. The Lessing's View restaurant not only is a beautiful location for lunch or dinner, but they also cater for weddings and any other celebratory affairs. We visited the View Restaurant for dinner with friends on their outdoor deck by the river moon light. It was a wonderful view and dinner along with their staff were wonderful. The restaurant prior to the pandemic, would also have happy hour & music on the deck which unfortunately we have yet experienced. read more

I dined at the view a couple of weeks ago in Oakdale, when I entered I was extremely impressed as the over the top Holiday decorations, when checking in the very gracious hostess seated us at quiet table in a private section.I requested table #53 which was unavailable due to the area having a lovely rehearsal dinner. We were seated by a warm glowing fireplace.Then we were greeted by the always cheerful assistant manager Jonathan Barrios. The cocktails were excellent as was the surf and turf cooked to perfection. Besides the amazing view, saying Chris was amazing server us an understatement!!! He checked on us frequently, was knowledgeable about the menu and even recommended a lovely after dinner wine! He was friendly, smiled and just genuinely cared and was awesome. If you go, ask for him as your waiter, you won't be disappointed! Visiting Long Island for a wedding, found this spot on open table. The food and service were fabulous. I had the stuffed clams for a starter and the blackened tuna over black rice for my main. Both were very flavorful, maybe a bit salty on the tuna, but overall great. The wine list was serviceable. The actual view lived up to the restaurants name, a great evening on the water. My one caution: we went on a Friday night, if loud music isn't your thing, call ahead to see if they have a band playing. The band was really good, but we weren't looking for that type of vibe. read more

The only good thing about this restaurant is the view. Went on a Saturday and was told they only had the bar menu available. The dinner menu started at 6pm. The bar menu had only 6 items which we thought how bad can it be? There's a burger, baked clams and penne alla vodka. Very mistaken the burger was nothing to rave about. The penne alla vodka had no flavor what so ever. It was definitely not worth $26. Even though, the place was not busy the service was not good. Took forever to get our drinks and food. Would never go back, not worth the money for bad service and flavorless food! read more

In full disclosure, my wife and I married at View in 2002, and have dined there frequently especially on/ near our anniversary. Tonight we enjoyed a particularly delicious dinner, enhanced by the delightful service by Jessie. She took care of us with an undiminishing smile and upbeat spirit. We enjoyed one of our favorite starter dishes, the Thai chili sauced fried calamari. Our mains were the Shrimp Cobb salad for my wife, and a new dish to me, Scallop and Shrimp pasta with garganelli pasta in a cream and cognac sauce. This was very good, with bacon, corn, mushrooms and cherry tomatoes; similar to a carbonara preparation but not so rich, and it was very tasty. The View, besides its name, it offers the best views the Oakdale marina has to offer! Last week, me and my dad were invited to a birthday dinner party. The ambiance, decor and food service were outstanding. The staff catered to all our needs. I was impressed by the simplicity of the food and drinks menu. We started with the cheesy toast, along with the best garlic herb butter I've ever had. People kept asking for more! Then I tasted the fried calamari with the sweet and spicy chili sauce. It was crispy and delicious all at once. The sweet heat kept everyone asking for more! I also enjoyed a glass of white wine. For the main course, I had the Chicken Florentine with a scalloped potato (yummy!) and creamy, cheesy spinach. My dad really enjoyed his Cedar Plank Roasted Salmon dish. A good number of people at the dinner party also had Filet Mignon. From beginning to end, everything that was served tasted incredible. The vanilla ice was excellent. Once again, I was very impressed by the simplicity and elegance of View restaurant. We will definitely come back for more. read more

Our experience at the View was absolute perfection from start to finish. We went with the wedding package they offer, and every vendor was a pleasure to work with. The extended cocktail hour was delicious, plentiful and our guests are still raving about it. The service was outstanding from the bartenders, maître d, and waitstaff. Weddings can be stressful, but I did not have to worry about a thing the day of because they are so coordinated and organized. The views are also breathtaking right on the water on the south shore. View is located on the Marina and commands a great view of the channel. My work group went here for lunch and had a great time. We didn't have a reservation but they accommodated us without much problem, moving tables to fit us in the covered deck section of the restaurant. Though it was a cold afternoon we were very warm with the heaters. Staff here were very nice and attentive, approaching problems very practically. The food was fairly good. I'm not sure the price was justified but everyone enjoyed what they had and the portion sizes were good. I got the View bowl with shrimp which was already relatively expensive at $21 plus and it only came with 3 prawns. Granted the bowl tasted good and the shrimp was well cooked, they definitely leaned on the sushi rice to fill you up instead of a decent protein portion. Definitely will avoid this meal next time and try the Cuban, it looked great. Good place to host a large group and great staff, definitely worth a visit. read more

We had a fantastic time. Great cocktails. Great apps. Calimari was amazing. Great shrimp. Lobster role was delicious and so was the desert. All 4 of us loved it. Service was fantastic and attentive. Still hate the "order all at one time" but we actually stayed around for 2.5 hours and weren't rushed at all so they did it well. The place is beautiful and the patio is gorgeous. Not the type to write a Yelp review and would normally praise this restaurant up & down. My family loves coming here for Sunday brunch when I am visiting town. Their food is fantastic. The scenic views are great. - However, with my favoritism of the View, I was very surprised and disappointed with the outcome of a "giveaway" they held. Back in the Summer (2021), they had posted a giveaway on their Instagram - And I won! (Or so I thought). They reached out to me via instagram, where I provided them with my parents home address to send the giftcard, but it was never received. Followed up about 2 months later and was told they would look into it. I never heard anything since! I've been here for dinner and it was delicious. I would give that dinner experience 4 stars. Today, I came for brunch and it was just okay. The food was rather bland and they did not provide as much of a variety as some other buffet brunch places. The sushi was extremely salty and the crab legs were small and rubbery. However, the restaurant is on the water and provides a beautiful view. Since it was rainy and chilly, we did not sit outside, but it must be very nice in the summer. Service was great, one thing was a bit off putting the, the chef requires both appetizers and entrees to be ordered at the same time. We went to the Sunday Brunch today and was totally disappointed. We were at the 12:30 seating. Aside from feeling like all that was on the buffet were almost empty trays of food, everything was not really hot, and most of the dishes had very little taste. We also felt like we were being rushed to leave, with the hostess constantly looking over at our table to see if we were done. I would not recommend this over priced mess of leftover food. We had the wedding of our dreams thanks to Jon Barrios and Jimmy Hahn! They nailed all of our visions. There is not one thing we would change about our wedding day. We enjoyed every single moment from start to finish. Jon goes above and beyond to make sure that there is not a stress or a worry for the couple. The staff truly makes you feel like you're royalty and that they genuinely care about your happiness. The day was filled with gorgeous views, delicious food and drinks, and so much love and fun!
