Really disappointed with our experience at The Lake House, especially since we were there celebrating my 50th birthday. When we arrived, we sat at our outdoor table for at least 10 minutes without being acknowledged by any waitstaff. Once our waiter finally came over, we placed our entire order right away. I mentioned that it was my milestone birthday and later asked if he could take a quick photo of us, and he simply said no. He also barely checked in on our table throughout the meal. The busboys, however, were wonderful--attentive, friendly, and honestly provided the best service of the evening. The menu was very heavy for the summer. Ordered the filet and it came with Brussels and mashed. We live on Long Island with the best produce. Lean into the fresh summer veggies. The lobster tail was so salty. It tasted like a salt lick. There also seemed to be an issue with the outdoor tables, as at least three glasses broke during our dinner. We spent a significant amount of money and chose The Lake House because we wanted to celebrate a special occasion. Unfortunately, nothing about the service made the evening feel special. The lakehouse is a gem in the heart of Bayshore. Beautiful water views either on the patio or covered patio. The inside of the restaurant is beautifully decorated and has an upscale feel. The food is spot on from start to finish. Delicious clams, pasta , & steak frites to start and ended with their famous snickers dish. Definitely try the snickers for dessert. The cocktails are so so good. The bread is delicious but it does give me a bit of pause that they charge for it. This is a higher end restaurant. When you are paying top dollar, the bread should be complimentary. Or at least 1 basket complementary. 4 pieces for $7. It is just irksome. The menu is limited but excellent choices. The food itself is hit or miss. I had the pork chop which was the most amazing dish! It was as tender as a filet. The mushroom was more mushroom than rice which I adored! The scallop dish, not so much. From the presentation which looked a mess to the over done tasteless scallops, it was disappointing to say the least. My wife and I arrived around 1:00 pm for lunch. The place was pretty empty. Upon entering, the hostess showed us to our table. The eatery is well designed, with tables that are nicely appointed and well laid out. There are two gas fireplaces that add to the bright and airy atmosphere. The restaurant is very big and divided into two parts. It appears that both areas have lovely views of the water. The restaurant offers both a prix fixe lunch menu as well as a regular menu. We ordered fried calamari as appetizers. The calamari were prepared very differently than the ordinary fair. Very pleasing to the palate. I ordered the large lump crab cake, salad, and French fries. The fries are delicious! The crab cake is prepared on the spicy side. The salad was tasty. For dessert, I ordered the gelato. I really enjoyed the chocolate over the salted caramel. Overall, the meal was good. The Takeaways 1. The price to food ratio is okay. 2. Bread and butter is considered an appetizer and is charged as such. 3. Service is excellent. 4. We visited The Lake House for our 4th anniversary. Overall, the experience was okay. We had made a reservation requesting outdoor deck seating, but when we arrived, we were given an indoor table and were told the wait for the deck would be about three parties ahead (around an hour). We decided to stay inside. The service was fine, and the food was good but not outstanding. My husband ordered the steak and I had the chicken pasta--both dishes were ok but not amazing. The highlight of the restaurant is definitely the outdoor area with its beautiful lake view. Next time, we would love to sit outside to fully enjoy the atmosphere. read more

The decor inside was upscale but still sea based, which was appreciated given the water view. The service was surprisingly good for such a busy holiday, which I also appreciated. A friend and I took advantage of the pre fix menu that is over at the end of May. Very good value for your money! The place is beautiful and has a strange mix of casual boat people and others who are dressed for the ambiance which isn't very casual. We had brunch this past Sunday.It was a cloudy day & we dined outdoors.Beautiful water views.We ordered the Smoked nova salmon which was delicious tho the crispy potato cake underneath it was minuscule.2 diners had Challah French toast again delicious but the candied bacon on top of it was again a small piece of bacon cut into minuscule pieces.This was surrounded with strawberry bits & raspberries.It appeared to be 1 strawberry cut into small piece. They could have used more strawberries & a larger potato cake underneath. Went to the LakeHouse for Easter brunch, the food was excellent, the service amazing and decor classy and comfortable. We had a group of 8, we started with cocktails that were very well done. The pastry and meat & cheese appetizers were very nice ( the blue cheese was to die for). Everyone raved about their main courses. Another great lunch. For the first time I tried the grilled oysters (I usually eat only raw ones). They were excellent and VERY filling. For my entree, I selected the duck confit. We recently visited The Lake House to celebrate my dad's birthday, having fond memories of the atmosphere from our previous visit for my mother's 60th birthday back in February. While the ambiance remains delightful and picturesque, we found the overall experience to be mixed. We arrived for an early dinner and were pleasantly surprised to find a Restaurant Week menu, which offered appealing choices at a reasonable price. Our meal began on a high note with appetizers. The tuna tartare I ordered was excellent, and my parents enjoyed the mushroom risotto, which I sampled and found flavorful despite not being a fan of mushrooms. My grandmother's salad seemed to be a hit, while my boyfriend and grandfather tried the soup with Gruyère cheese grilled cheese. They thought it was just okay, though it did grow on them as the meal progressed. We also ordered two bread baskets, which we later noticed came with an additional charge. Given how the service was unfolding, we weren't sure if the waiter was aware that we were a bit disappointed. However, when the bill arrived, he had kindly removed the cost of the bread, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, there were some service missteps. We noticed that our table was not properly set with all the necessary utensils, and when we requested a butter knife, there was some confusion, and steak knives were brought instead. While this might seem minor, at a restaurant of this caliber, small details do matter. Additionally, our server, though friendly, seemed unfamiliar with the menu, explaining he also worked at another restaurant and found it difficult to keep things straight. It's understandable but did impact our experience. For the main course, my father and I both had the pork chop, which I found flavorful, though the side dish didn't quite appeal to me. My boyfriend enjoyed his prime steak, and my grandfather's salmon was satisfactory. My mother and grandmother both ordered the cod and were pleased with their meals. Despite some high points in the meal, we all agreed that, for the price point, the overall experience fell short of expectations. We've noticed a difference in quality since the restaurant moved to its new location. Although the atmosphere is still a strong draw, the service and attention to detail do not quite match what we had hoped for or remembered. While The Lake House has some wonderful aspects, and we did enjoy parts of our meal, we collectively felt that we likely wouldn't return. The place is cute and located on the water. The weather was excellent, and we sat outside on the deck. It was my husband's birthday, so sitting outside and enjoying the view from the water was very romantic. The restaurant was busy, so I would recommend booking dinner in advance. The only downside of this place is that everything is stagnant. You are waiting forever to get drinks, and the time between appetizers ( once you finish) and the main course is 35-40 minutes. The waiter was friendly and accommodating, but the service was slow overall. That is why most places offer free bread on a table, so the wait time won't feel as dragged, but this restaurant is not the case. The food is simple but good. The tuna tartar was a good start. I got venison medium rare, and the parsnip puree with raspberry cabbage complemented the meat nicely. The husband got himself a fish with orzo, which was very nice. We also shared Brussels sprouts on a side, which is also recommended. For the desert, i chose Affogato My husband got creme brulee ( his favorite dessert ), and it was nice to put a candle to celebrate a special day. Finding this place was on a total whim. My husband and I wanted to go out and I was interested in this place. Let me tell you that this place is outstanding. There are two entrances. One for the bar area and the other for the back, which was kind of hidden if you don't n it where to go. Once we figured out where the host/hostess stand was we spoke to a hostess/manager immediately. They asked us if we had a reservation and once we said we didn't they checked to see if they had seating, and then a hostess immediately sat us. I don't remember the hosts name but he was amazing. He suggested us the tilefish for an entree. We were looking through the menu, and my husband was thinking of getting one thing, and once I suggested the veal he immediately wanted that. He asked our host how the veal should be cooked and he said medium rare. I got the tilefish and my husband got the veal. They were amazing! The drinks were great as well. We ended the night with their donuts and cheesecake. Both delicious. You definitely have to west business causal to go here. I was a little concerned at first because the lunch menu didn't have much that I liked. I ended up getting the calamari to start which was really incredible. I've never had it served that way and it was amazing. I had the chicken panini (without the cheese) and maaannnn that thannggg was good. Service was great. They were very attentive. I came on a rainy day so didn't get to enjoy much of the view but will def go back and be more adventurous with trying something new from the menu. As far as dessert. It was meehhh maybe I'll try the cheesecake next. I had the cookie which I wasn't impressed it . It was rock solid. The staff is very kind and helpful and seated us quickly. Our waiter, Kyle, was especially amazing and just brimming with energy! The menu is expansive and offers such delicious choices. We opted for the Lightly Fried Calamari and Truffled Mushroom Risotto for apps. The Calamari was delicious and fresh with a lemon honey aioli, which was yummy! I loved the Risotto and was tempted to order more. It was so creamy and flavorful and just perfect! We enjoyed the Long Island Duck Breast and Crispy Leg Confit and the Grilled Doublecut Berkshire Porkchop for entrees. The Duck was tender and the sauce was delicious. The pilaf it was served on was well done. The Porkchop was absolutely perfect! It was succulent and bursting with flavor and I enjoyed the polenta it was served on. I highly recommend it! We enjoyed the Rum Punch and St. Germain Old Fashioned cocktails and finished our dinner with three scoops of Sorbetto and the Pistachio Crunch Cake for dessert. The sorbetto was tart and really hit the spot but the Pistachio Crunch Cake was the winner for dessert. It was unlike anything we've had before and was the perfect blend of sweet and crunchy.
