Yikes! I just looked back and realized that I reviewed this place 5 years ago, and it wasn't a good review then ...I guess I hoped it would be better by now, yet here we are, firmly in the land of 1 star, which would be zero stars if possible! This time, I ordered the Bayside Trio (I think that was the name). One Lump Crabcake over a bed of yellow rice, 3 grilled shrimp, and 2 baked clams served with charred broccoli. Can I just say that the broccoli was one of the best part of the meal? I think that speaks volumes. Where to begin? Lets just get the worst of it out of the way. The Lump Crabcake- (lump Crabcake generally implies that the crab is of good quality) -wasn't. No chunks of crab meat-just mush. Was it the same as the "Maryland Crabcake" listed in the appetizer section? The waitress said yes. Let me tell you, it was NOTHING like a Maryland Crabcake. I'm actually embarrassed for Bayside Clambar for trying to pass off this little crabby patty as a Maryland crab cake. If I was Maryland, I'd sue Bayside for defamation and slander, for them trying to pass their sad little clump of whatever-it-is as a Maryland Crabcake! To me, that was the worst offense, that sad little stepsister...nay, distant cousin ... to the mighty Maryland Crabcake. As if that wasn't bad enough, it was pretty god-awful to eat. I left half of the pathetic little thing on my plate. The shrimp? Undercooked and tough. I left 1 1/2 of the 3 of them on my plate. The rice? Meh, but not horrible. I still left most of it on my plate. Thank Gods the baked clams and the broccoli were delicious-not a crumb of either were left behind. The waitress's lack of care when I told her that this plate was less than mediocre didn't help much. It's official-Bayside Clambar is on my list of places to avoid. I might suggest you do the same and save yourself from disappointment. read more

Yesterday, me and my family went to Bayside. This beautiful restaurant, is located at the East Islip Marina. At first, we saw the gray clouds gathering, rather quickly in the skies.. but minutes later, there was a peak of sunshine, that made us decide to get a table. The food is amazing. I recommend the appetizers, if you're coming in with a group that wants to have drinks as well. It's also family-friendly. I saw several blankets down on the grass; babies cooing. The mozzarella sticks and stuffed clams were really good. I ordered the blackened Mahi Tacos. Very good, very tasty. I recommend the wings, fried calamari, and of course, the french fries. We wanted a place on/by the water. Without even realizing it we could not have chosen a better location for dining by the water. It made the visit sooo much nicer. Parking was a little tricky. When you enter, be sure to tell the person at the booth that you are there to eat at the restaurant. Look to the left hidden behind the restaurant for free parking. Tried this place on a whim. Wanted a waterfront place that didn't mind my kids running amok. Very cute menu of kids drinks which they liked. The views were nice and they had live music. We don't come here for the food because it's not that good. We meet our friends at the bar and listen to the bands. Drinks are expensive so pace yourself and bring a chair if you want to hang out on the lawn. Overall, great views of the boats/water and a relaxing night out. read more

I was here twice when I was with my ex-boyfriend. One time he performed here with one of his bands another time we came to see the singer in the band he used to perform with when she was singing with Original Copy. It's a cute little venue. We really enjoyed the ultra casual atmosphere and the beautiful view. The service was great and the seating was quick. The band was fantastic and we just love that ultra casual beach vibe. The food and drinks were a 2 1/2 out of 5. As other reviewers say, it is extremely overpriced for what you get quality wise. Normally I don't care if you charge $25 or even $35 for a plate of shrimp, I am fine with that. But when you order grilled shrimp and you get cocktail shrimp that was boiled and then passed over the grill it kind of feels cheap. My grilled shrimp scampi turned out to be boiled cocktail shrimp on a skewer that was heated up (barely passed over) the grill and the rice it was on top was inedible (sour taste). The appetizers we had were baked clams and conch fritter, both decent but nothing to rave about. The fish tacos were good. The mojito had very large amounts of whole bunches (not just leaves) of mint (some slimy that I picked out), so definitely not muddled or even mashed slightly in the shaker. Would we give them another try? Yes, because we love the atmosphere so much and are willing to give it another chance hoping if we order different dishes they may be better. Will update, if we have the same experience it may be a place to just get simple drinks and appetizers, if that. It is a location we like to visit. First time I went here and food and drinks are great. I had a watermelon Mojito and strawberry drink and they were amazing. When our waitress came back she said that they ran out of mint, so they couldn't do mojitos anymore, but one of my friends suggested their strawberry drink and it was great! I also had an angus burger with no onions and mozzarella cheese. It was delicious, but the only thing was I asked for medium rare, and it looked medium for me. Other than that it was delicious and the juices were coming out of the burger. Which I didn't mind that much. It came on a brioche bun with added a small kicks of sweetness with I thought was nice. I didn't remember our waitress's name but she was great. Wasn't pushy or rude, which was awesome. She did disappear towards the end but it was getting windy and a storm was coming, I figure she was trying to help her coworkers out somewhere else. I could hear the hostess ask the owner for permission to seat us close to closing. Permission was granted by the owner! (Shout out to the boss! Good business) The meal and service was great. We came here last night for my daughters' birthday. The place is very cute with pretty views. There was live music, (one-man-band) and he was amazing. Jillian was our server and she is the best! Super sweet and attentive even though the place was packed and she had many tables. I had the snapper with broccolini and rice and it was amazing! My daughter, A had the skirt steak entree as she doesn't eat seafood. She loved it. My daughter, O orders a lobster roll anytime it's on the menu anywhere and she usually still hungry afterward. They actually give you two lobster rolls along with French fries and she took the leftovers home. We were dining with friends that were happy with their food and drinks. One had scotch and the other wine, but my mojitos were pretty watered down. I bartended for years and I make a pretty mean mojito, I couldn't really taste the rum at all. Came here with my mother on a saturday afternoon and enjoyed and outdoor cocktail, live band and was even able to see a 35 year high school reunion private party going on at the restaurant. Very nice place, service was good to us. We picked at some calamari, baked clams and friend shrimp ( any place can deep dry seafood and throw it on a plate, but our food came as best as you would want fried seafood to come out! along with some margaritas, this made a very nice laid back afternoon. crowd was very mixed. would definitely come back in the late spring / summer for a nice outdoor experience. read more

It was appetizer size. Shrimp, broccolini and yellow rice. Shrimp did not look or taste grilled. There may have been a teaspoon of sauce on each of five shrimp. FIVE! Three pieces of broccolini were ok. A little more crunchy than I liked. And a small ramekin molded yellow rice mound which was almost inedibly salty. Not sure I'll be back. read more

Went down with my family on a Friday for the live music, such a beautiful atmosphere however hostess seemed frazzled. 45 min wait, no big deal but we didn't get a call for an 1.5 hours later meanwhile we walked back n forth from lawn to bar multiple times and at one point counted 16 open tables! Not sure if they are understaffed or hostess having a hard time. Eventually ordered food to go and took it to lawn area. Fish tacos were delicious and so were the drinks. Maybe turn into a kiosk/QR code order food to table as an idea...many beach front restaurants are doing that now and works out great. read more

There's a gorgeous view over looking the water for the outdoor dining. We ordered calamari and it was super tasty so I was really looking forward to my entree. The waitress recommend the scallop dish in which I ordered. The scallops were good but the rice and spinach I wasn't too fond of. I mean, it wasn't the best experience I've ever had but also not the worst either. Of course I read the reviews before and took a lot of time to put myself in a good mindset before going. Yes, the staff is a younger group of ladies but none of them were rude or on their phone. They were busy, and for a Tuesday night, I would consider it a busy night. As for the comment about the bugs- you're right near and ONTOP of a dock and only footsteps away from the bay. Of course if you go on a off night you should expect bugs / mosquitos to be flying around. We went and there were no bugs to be found! Yes this place has paper plates and silverware- but it didn't matter to us. That's the style of place you're going to. The drinks- they have a nice sized drink menu. I first started with the Watermelon Margarita, and to me it was a nice margarita- yes people it was in a plastic cup, WHO CARES. It tasted delicious a little sweet for me but it was good. We also had the two guys kept ordering Landsharks. We started the night with baked clams, Thai chili calamari, and the nachos. Everything came out hot and delicious. The favorite was the Thai chili calamari, couldn't have enough of those! The nachos ehhh, they weren't anything special but we did still finish the whole plate. We had appetizers for a group of 5 people. For entrees, we had one crabby patty ( yes that's what it's called!), the Ahi Tuna Burger, blackened tuna tacos, orange scallops, and the blackened shrimp scampi. It did take a while for food to come out and entrees were okay. The buns for the Burgers both were too heavy and because they were not toasted or warmed up, they broke right away while eating the burgers. The burgers came with fries- they were crispy but some fell flat and oily. In the Ahi tuna burger, i wish it was placed in the middle so I got the tuna and bread- most bites were just bread until I gave up on the bread and ate with my fork and knife. The tacos, ehh, the tortillas were just about raw. They needed to be heated or put over a burner. Crabby patty, delicious crab but the bread... ugh. The shrimp was good, tad over cooked but it was still okay. And the scallops, i heard they were interesting, they looked good. But the plate was finished soo couldn't have been too bad. Aside from food, you do get free entertainment from a live band and it seems like they have a love band every night. When you finish with dinner you can sit by the outdoor bar, or they have lawn chairs and it looked like they have cornhole but I'm not 100% sure on that. It was overall a nice place to eat. Don't expect the best food but it's also not bad food either. To me it's a great place and I would certainly go back! read more

It's all about the location and vibe. Atmosphere: 5/5 On a nice summer or spring day this place is fantastic. You are outside by the bay. The harbor is a short walk away. Live bands frequently make the stay even more fun. Food: 2/5 If you are coming here for some grub with friends then this place is great. If you're coming here for a good seafood dinner then you're in the wrong place. Many of the foods are fried and uninspired. Not bad, just not something you're going to get excited about.
