Legend has it that I've been here before. I don't believe it. The reason I don't believe it is because I had the most spectacular experience. How would I not remember being here. The only downside was that it's winter and we are smack in the middle of back to back literal blizzards and we went at night so we couldn't see any of the view. But believe me, I will definitely be back to make it all right. Every once is a while, for one of my sisters' birthdays we will hold a psychic night. This time, we saw that Snapper Inn was having a psychic night with dinner, so we decided to let them do all the work. I called over a month ahead and spoke with Jim, who was the loveliest man. He gave me all the details and I told him I would call back when I have an official head count. The psychic dinner came with a prix-fixed 3 course meal and a 15 min reading. The menu was amazing. I got the winter salad and the shrimp oreganota while ending up with the banana bread pudding. Everything was top notch, from the private set up with our reading, to the round table they sat the 7 of us at. The service was out of this world and Caroline made sure everything was done perfect. The most important thing is that my sister very much enjoyed everything. And being that this is a family owned business, according to Jim, I was proud to celebrate my family with them. Visited Snapper Inn recently. The restaurant has a very rustic feel, but the large windows and beautiful water view really make a difference -- the natural light and scenery make the space feel bright. However, The heater seemed very strong, especially if you're seated by the windows -- it felt uncomfortably hot. Entrees are priced around the $30 range, so expectations were a bit higher. Unfortunately, we waited almost an hour for our entrees. There was also a mix-up with our salad order. At first we were told the portion served was the full size, but it clearly wasn't. Service on the back patio on a Saturday afternoon was non - existent. Only 3 tables out of 15 were taken and the waitress couldn't handle it. After waiting 25 minutes for someone to come and take our order we decided to leave. Don't bother. Even on a beautiful day it's not worth it. read more

We had the opportunity to attend the special end of Summer Sunday brunch buffet. It was fantastic: price, food, alcohol and staff. If they had this every Sunday the place would be packed. We would definitely come back in a heart beat. The price was so affordable. There were many plated and steamed table offerings besides a carving station and made to order omelets and pancakes. They had some small bite desserts but also full slices of cakes which was too large for us after eating all the brunch foods. read more

This is by far one of the best and our favorite restaurant on the water, coming here for years. I just have to give a shout out to our dinner last Sunday. It was literally outstanding in every way. We ordered 2 coconut margaritas which were awesome! We started with shrimp on the skewer and the filet mignon bites with wontons for appetizers which is a must! We had the swordfish which was to die for, so fresh (mine was blackened) with delicious fresh green beans on the side. Our waitress was spot on and so sweet! The entire night was so blissful. I've been going to the Snapper Inn my whole life. My parents frequented The Snapper Inn as well. I'm writing this review because my wife and I had our thirtieth anniversary dinner there the other night. We were both not very satisfied with our dinner. We love the location of the Snapper Inn. The ambience is really nice. Great place to sit on the lawn, have a drink and enjoy the river. I'm writing this because we've never been so disappointed with our experience there before. The service was good. The problem we had was with the food. For our appetizer we had the calamari. Very rubbery. Didn't enjoy it, left most of it. Our main course was swordfish. Strangely, it was orange like salmon. We asked about the coloring, and were told it was pumpkin swordfish. It's actually a real thing, however, probably wouldn't have ordered it if that was known at the time of ordering. It tasted alright, just wasn't what we expected. Overall, it wasn't the positive experience I've had there like in the past. Very disappointed. Not inexpensive either. read more

we asked if we could sit outside and they said to walk back and take a table. as we did that, they asked if anyone sat us and we explained what happened and they said we had to go back to the front and get sat. when we did that she explained we shouldn't sit if we didn't let anyone know, and if we wanted to get served. we went back to the table and it took 15 minutes just to get menus and the waitress kept walking around and ignoring us as well. 25 minutes later we still didn't get anything (while they only had 8 customers outside on the deck). we walked out, poor service , poor communication between staff and didn't get to try the food. if anyone wants to visit this place next, please make sure you sign in or you won't get menus for half an hour ! read more

The staff is always welcoming and Jim is always cheerful and accommodating. The food is deliciously prepared and reasonably priced. The lobster salad is one of my favorites! The indoor dining area provides comfortable seating with a warm welcoming atmosphere. The waterfront dining area has a relaxing vibe and overlooks the docks. It's a perfect staycation place. We have been to this restaurant before due to the wonderful water views. This time however we were disappointed. It was our Anniversary and we're looking for a special day. Perhaps new mgmt? The food was overpriced compared to other restaurants we have been to. All appetizers were $20 and while you got 3 nice size baked clams they looked like they were frozen and certainly lacking clam. The ahi tuna was paper thin and fell apart when trying to pick it up. The dining room was pretty empty on a wednesday so you would think service would of been quicker, it was not. We asked the waitress the soup of the day and she was clueless and had to go back to kitchen for the info on what was in it. Though we went for lunch perhaps they were not prepared? For 2 the Bill was $230 rather high amount for mid day meal. Dont think we will be coming back. read more

Seating outside is first come, first serve so I was happy we got a nice spot on the waiter. Our waitress was a little slow but I know she was dealing with another table issue. Still, we were ready to order and had to wait a bit. For our appetizer, we ate fried calamari. It was delicious and really set the bar for our meal (boy, I was wrong). I ordered the penne alla vodka and my husband ordered the lobster roll. My penne was absolutely HORRIBLE. It tasted extremely bland and not the penne alla vodka we know and love. Probably one of the worst pasta dishes I've ever had. Even for a seafood restaurant, my husband said his lobster roll wasn't that great. What's up with that? The chocolate torte we had for dessert was delicious, but that was obviously not what we came here for. I won't be coming back here. read more

My husband and I went back to the Snapper Inn yesterday with our kids for our anniversary. We got married there. From the front desk to our amazing Waiter Zach to the owners of the restaurant, everyone was so nice, accommodating, and generous. We enjoyed everything we ate, but especially the filet mignon steak tips and the seafood bisque. Everyone really enjoyed dessert with the apple crumb tart being the star of the dessert portion of our meal. Thank you so much for a wonderful anniversary meal. We went with 2 other couples for Prime Rib Thursday. For $30 you get a Queen cut prime rib, vegetable and potato of choice or rice. It's a beautiful space with a lovely riverfront setting. We were happy to have been seated inside, since the weather forecast for thunderstorms. Sure enough, a violent storm blew in just before we were finished eating. It blew umbrellas and tables over and a buffet set up in the tent outside tipped over, starting a fire from the sterno cans. Our waitress was a little older than the usual waiters/waitresses and was a little chatty and forgetful. One of our party was missed when drink orders were taken and a request for a piña colada ( not exactly an exotic request), was met with confusion and the resulting drink was not correct. I hosted an 85th birthday dinner for my mother for 10 ppl. Everything was just perfect! My mother is still talking about it from last week. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. Snapper Inn has always been one of our favorite restaurants until yesterday. We both ordered the lobster special, 2 drinks and after dinner 2 cappuccinos, which were barely warm. When the bill came we could not believe the cost of drinks and cappuccino, when totaled the drinks and coffee cost more than the entree, $18 for 2 not really good cappuccinos, excessive. This time around my visit fell within Long Island restaurant week. Sauerbraten stood out to me, snapper inn sauerbraten is very well known. I understand it was restaurant week $42/3 course prixe fixe menu, however the portion size was disappointing. Also just a reminder I did not make a reservation for a Tuesday night at 5:30 and we had to wait. if I can give it 0 stars i would for the bar outside. What a waste of a beautiful area on a beautiful night. Arrived for a drink at 7:20 on Thursday June 19th and possible bite to eat. Went to the bar outside and it looked like a bomb hit it with dirty plates & glasses everywhere. One bartender trying to take care of at least 20 people with some dining as well. Waited for 15 minutes with no acknowledgement and left. This place is run poorly finally saw a man in a jacket & tie go behind the bar to assist. What an elegant white table cloth restaurant experience. The service was excellent. Our starters, Great South Bay oysters and seafood bisque were very good. The oysters were actually fantastic.
