Great scenery. Poor food. The waitress told us no bread and butter was available for lunch patrons. The appetizers were good... clams...crab cakes and lobster bisque..i had a $37 dollar plate of 6 Undercooked scallops...my husband's entree had brown shrimp and raw pasta. The view does have a great view and the space is very welcoming but I think the chef is afraid of salt and flavor. Lobster bisque had no backbone . So. We went here for restaurant week, and when we got there they informed us that they ended RW at 7pm. I have never actually had a 'cut off' time for restaurant week so this was a little annoying but we made the best of it. My boyfriend asked if he could still order the lobster bolognese off the restaurant week menu (which wasn't on the regular menu) and they honored that, which was amazing. I ended up ordering a tuna 3 ways sushi roll for dinner, which was really great. My bf loved his food too. Our only complaints were that the wait staff was supeerrrr slow (we had empty wine glasses for at least 10 mins) , there was no specification about RW time frames AND the portions were super small(not foodie friendly) but as far as taste everything was delicious ! Very disappointed in my experience today. This was my favorite restaurant but ever since Covid the quality is not top notch anymore. All the food taste different and it's not worth it. The Thai calamari was a bowl of seeds and very small pieces of fried nothing. The lobster bisque soup has no fresh lobster pieces and lacking a lot of flavor. They charge $5 for bread now. This week was restaurant week.My son and I decided to check your restaurant by looking at your pre fixed Menu. We had reservations for 630 on Friday night. So when we went to put in our order swordfish was one of your main dishes on your ore fixed menu. The waiter Katy told us you don't have it . This was 630 on a Friday night, so I guess whoever is in charge puts out a menu but doesn't plan to have what your advertising for restaurant week.So of course had to order off the main menu and of course it cost more than the pre fix menu not that I really cared, food was ok not great and service was ok . If you were planning to get more clientele from having restaurant week you should make sure you have what you are putting on your menu that your advertising for!!!!! Won't be coming back! read more

Last night was my first time visiting this lovely spot and I was very impressed with every aspect of the experience. The View, of course, right on the water, is great - seen from almost any seat in the house. Our server, Tara, was so pleasant and welcoming, happily accommodating our particular cocktail requests. We sat at a high top in the bar and enjoyed appetizers from oysters and stuffed clams to duck tacos - all very tasty. Just had the worst dining experience ever. My party of 4 waited two hours for our entrees, then we decided to leave. Never did see any food other than the bread which we had to pay for. Only when we got up to leave where we given any attention by the manager, who couldn't bother to even enter the dining room for the past two hours. This restaurant does not have waiters, only food runners. Nobody seems to even notice if you are seated and waiting 30 minutes for someone to come by. This place is a big fail. I only shutter to think what's going wrong in the kitchen if they can't handle the front of the house. I will poke out my eyes with sharp sticks before ever dining here again (it's much less painful). read more

Had a very nice dinner here recently. As the name suggests, the view is gorgeous. The dining room is ornate and they must have beautiful weddings here. Food was also very good, with an emphasis on seafood. I'm not a seafood person but I had a braised short rid that was above average. Cocktails were perfectly made and we'll presented. The b wead: service was a little lacking. We were there an early Friday and even though not very crowded , everything was a little slower than expected. The bigger concern was the obtrusion of the happy hour scene into the dining room. It really is quite a scene in there. I like that as much as anyone, but I am there for a nice dinner and the thumping house music is loud and clear in what is really an otherwise upscale space. We had reservations made over the phone for over a week. When we booked we were told sure no problem. 6:30 reservations arrive on time. We are told sorry outside is full. It's on a first come first served basis. We were never told that. Quick scan of outside multiple tables empty so lied to twice. Fine. Nice window table in restaurant. It took 15 mins for server to come over. The manager recognized we didn't even have drinks. He took our order. 10 mins later drinks. Finally server comes over. She rushed us to get our order in. We said we need a few mins. We ordered $100 seafood plateau as an app. I get it it takes time to to open clams and oysters but this took 30 mins. Again fine they are short staffed like most restaurants. We order 2 orders of crab cakes, lobster roll on a bun and fish tacos. 45 mins later food comes out. Here's the topper my wife cut her lip on the martini class as it had a chip. Again things happen but we told our server she did nothing. No mention to the manager and really didn't want anything for it. We just alerted her so it didn't go back in the rack. Menu is very limited. No sushi very disappointed as we have gone here many times. $352 before $70 tip. Keep in mind if the four of us one wasn't drinking we had 2 cosmos, 2 rum punch and 2 blue points. We used to love this place but haven't gone in the last year. We needed a nice place to take some friends and decided the View would be a good choice. We waited an hour before apps came and they were completely underwhelming. The shrimp cocktail was four small shrimp laid on a small plate. The lobster roll was horrific. There was so much chopped red onion that you couldn't even taste the lobster. Those of us that ordered it couldn't eat more than two bites. The waitress was very nice though -- so kudos there. Despite positive reviews for this restaurant we had quite a different experience. We scheduled a 6:45 Saturday night reservation and were seated on time, and then nothing went well. Our waitress appeared about 20 minutes later, said hello, and took our drink order which arrived 20 minutes later. She was clearly posted to handle tables all over a large restaurant. Not to be seen anywhere in our table vicinity, 20-30 minutes later she reappeared to take a food order. She did not return until during our dinner as she was replacing an order drink it was spilled all over the table and the guests. Numerous apologies followed by the waitress and a manager who removed the plate and to our complete amazement returned the same partially consumed food on a new plate, soaked with the cocktail. That was it with no offer of compensation or to replace the dinner. The idea of offering a steak rinsed with a beverage by a manager is insulting. read more

I wanted to go with 3 stars but that would be too critical. Maybe 3.5 if Yelp would let me. I'm settling for 4 because the restaurant certainly lives up to its namesake, you're there for the view. And it's phenomenal, there's probably not a bad seat in the house. Decor and ambiance was just right without getting too tacky with the nautical. It was a great choice for a birthday/retirement celebration for my mom. The service also was top notch, and one part that was well worth the price. We had a party of 7 with a toddler and made reservations. Everything was arranged and ready for us upon arrival, down to a kid's menu and crayons. Huge gripe of mine is having to wait really any amount of time when you've made reservations. I'm sorry to say I can't remember our server's name, Joshua? Jacob? Something with a J I think. But he was so friendly, chipper, and helpful with recommendations on the food and wine. There were also a bevy of busers and runners around to make sure the food service and dishes made their way on and off the table expeditiously and unobtrusively. Our server was attentive from beginning to end and we were there for a while. The wine selection was great. The food fell kind of flat, which a lot of other reviewers mentioned. Like every dish was missing... inspiration. Like you're an average home cook making a recipe from a top chef, and it's got all the components but not quite hitting the right notes. Enough of the similes. We ordered everything from shrimp, to mussels, lobster, swordfish, tuna, scallops, you name it. The swordfish was the saddest and epically overcooked. All the accompaniments to the entrees felt lacking. The desserts were the only things that hit the mark on creativity and execution, very enjoyable. Perhaps our expectations simply fell short when considered alongside the cost? You can definitely get better seafood for much better value elsewhere. We dined this evening with no reservations so we sat at a high top in the bar area. We started off with some calamari which I thought were good and she thought were a little pale in color. Careful as they put peanuts on top so tell your waiter / waitress. She had one of their specialty drinks which was good but a little sweet even for her sweet tooth. But she had 2 so couldn't have been that bad :-). I opted for a whiskey sour. For dinner, She had the hamburger and I opted for the large scallops over a risotto. Both were very good although my scallops could have been warmer and they could have given more risotto. Prices are on the high side but the food and views are very nice. We paid a little over $100 for all including sharing the Crème brûlée which was delicious. Make reservations and you can sit outside on the water. Service was good. Clean bathroom. First time there, food and wine list were both really good which is the only reason I gave it two stars. My impression is that its primary function is to serve as a catering hall. When in restaurant mode, the staff are still all in catering mode with zero attempt at making a connection with the guest. We put in drink order and appetizers first and a short time later were approached by the General Manager informing us that we couldn't just put in our appetizers, we needed to put in the order for the main course as well. It felt a bit like a lecture, it was kind of weird and impersonal. A short time later, the server came back to take our order, so we obliged (after getting in trouble by the GM!). The bill for 4 people was close to $500. This is a place I would never come back to because, for me, service is as important as the food, especially at $500 which is fining dining prices. I would not recommend coming here if you're looking for a nice chill evening out with friends. It lacks everything you are looking for in a restaurant experience. read more

Celebrated my baby shower here. It was very beautiful and a memorable day. We had it in the far back of the main room by the open windows overlooking the water. The pictures came out beautiful. Well lit and the room itself was decorated very elegantly. It was very calm and quiet and I felt relaxed. The staff was attentive and helpful. We had an issue where the bakery sent us a different cake by accident and they took care of it for us. They also didn't rush us out at the end of the party like most places do. We were able to pack up all of the presents and hang out more too. It was a great party. read more

Charming at Christmastime. We were a little disappointed that we were seated right next to the hostess area with zero "view" but the overall warmth of the restaurant and holiday decor made up for it. Had dinner with another couple and loved the terrific service from Erica who was really friendly and helpful with suggestions for our meal. The bread is amazing with the flavored butter. Chopped salad app was great. Thai calamari was insanely delicious. Everyone was very happy with their entrees though the one slight disappointment was that my NY strip was seasoned well with great flavor but slightly tough - my husband had the same entree and his was fantastic though. Fun bar area had music and dancing as we finished up. Overall a really nice experience and would certainly recommend - we will return. read more

I really loved the sauces it was in. For dessert, we had the chocolate bomb which was incredible and the churros. Enjoyed brunch at the View recently for a friend's birthday. The location is beautiful and worth paying a little extra for. Other than the bees and not enough shade, the outdoor seating was very enjoyable. The food was good for a buffet, especially the omelettes. If you can take advantage of the unlimited mimosas it is a pretty nice deal. Service was good and the mimosas kept flowing! The downside was that I felt there was too much going on at once. I believe they were hosting 3 parties, which sounds like the norm on many weekends according to our waitress. Inside was noisy and the buffet area was very congested at times. We were quite happy to be seated outside because of this. Parking is also a little messy, so be prepared for a bit of a valet line. I would definitely give it another try for dinner, mostly because of the location. I'd go back for brunch on a special occasion as long as I could sit outside. read more

I am skeptical of restaurants on the water or with a view in general, as many feel they don't have to have great food. The View has a great view and a selection of dockside, bar side or indoor air conditioned dining. It has a very diverse menu including steaks, seafood, sushi. I had a seared tuna entree that was served on a caponata with a side of a unique salad made of bread cubes, and diced vegetables including tomato, sun-dried tomato, cucumber and red onion. Also at our table were crab cakes, a seafood dish (similar to a frutti de mare but named something else) and a spider roll (made with fried soft shell crabs, avocado and other stuff). I had one piece of the spider roll and I'd go back just for that. It may have been the best sushi roll I've ever tasted! We ate indoors but next time it will be outdoors. It really is a great view of the opening of the Carmens river into the Great South Bay. Plenty of boats and kayaks going by. Our server was very nice and attentive and they apologized as they were short staffed (Memorial Day). Things did take a while to come out but when they did, we were happy. Prices were reasonable for a combo of very good food and an excellent location, so give it a go! read more

They offer a great selection of wines. Their apps are small but tasty. Their kitchen cooks the food super fast. Their burger, and salmon on the menu is amazing.
