There is a parking lot on the west side of the road (the fee is $3.00, and there is a crosswalk over to the beach on the east side). This is the location where Ponce de Leon supposedly first identified Florida as a land mass and not just an island. There were a few people out on the beach, walking or looking for shells. It was a sunny day in January, with temps in the high 50's. I loved that it was not crowded or commercial. There are no services other than a parking lot and two (well-maintained porta potties). It was exactly what I wanted.

We love it here. The beach parking area for this specific location has about 15-20 spots do its a small location and can fill up quit quickly. The best part is the short walk. Its a place you only have to walk about 30 yards to the beach. No crossing A1A where it could be a horrible game of Frogger being played. lol There are two covered picnic areas that have benches and a table for some relieve of that summer sun when you want to enjoy a bite to eat or even take a break from the rays. The times we have been there, we have not experienced any bugs, which is a huge positive, unlike Jax Beach.. ouch those suckers can really hurt and be annoying. They do have public restrooms and garbage cans for your trash. Please use them and keep out beaches clean. Fun in the sun, clean waters (sometimes almost green at times) with peace and quite makes a day at the beach so much more enjoyably.

We went to the beach at the end of the 1 mile hike and walked the beach, looking for shells, watching crabs scramble by, and enjoying the views. It is well maintained by maintenance crews, and there are several picnic benches at the beach. It was hot on the way back, but there was a restroom at the beginning of the trail and a pavilion with benches. There was plenty of parking, no crowds, and places to fish, kayak, paddle board, and boat.

The visitor's center is beautiful and interesting. Our eight year old was engaged by the exhibits and live animals. We did the yellow hike, which was perfect for a July morning. Owned by: North Beach Investment Inc. Key Principal: FRANK D USINA, 91 years old. They have more than doubled their prices. The Usina family's greed is an embarrassment to the reputation of St. Augustine. Highest prices in Florida, and still no WiFi. The park use to be packed. Now, most of the sites are empty. They NO LONGER: * put out umbrellas in the pool area. You cannot find shade. * heat the hot tub. It is the same temperature as the pool. * decks are rotting in the cabins. * cabin screens have multiple rodent holes through the plastic screen. If they were even trying, they would use metal screens that rodents cannot chew through.

He's the owner and one of the captains that you can trust with his years of experience. Super kind and enjoyable ride with someone that loves what they do and just wants to give you a great experience out on the water. You can book online and pick your start time and how many hours you'd like to go out on the boat. You also have the option of a captained or non-captained boat (but must have an experience driver with boat training). We opted for the 3 hour sunset cruise and it was perfect. We enjoyed a 20 min boat ride before anchoring at driftwood beach (island) and lounged around on the water mat. We made friends with some locals and had the perfect view of the sunset. As it got dark we rode around the coast and had a beautiful view of downtown St. Augustine at night. This was a perfect way to end day 2 of our Bach trip and I will definitely be booking again in the future for the Christmas light experience. Thanks so much!
