I came here for a family event yesterday, and everybody had a great time! They had the Dodger game going, great selection of beer and tequila. We ordered a ton of food, I went with the healthier option with the salmon. It was cooked to perfection and delicious. Literally the best churros I've ever had! Churros are my favorite dessert and Villa Catrina really does them justice. Whenever my husband and I are hiking in the Angeles forest, we have to stop here for our post hike churros. Great hidden gem! Had the pleasure of meeting the owner tonight. He has a great staff who takes care of you the entire time! I've been going to Villa Catrina since we moved to Arcadia 2 years ago and I can't believe I've never written a review! This restaurant has become our go-to place when we are craving Mexican food. It is always consistent and never lets us down. I've even ordered their catering (party trays) for a party we had and it was such a good deal...we had leftovers for days! I usually go for the combinations but I recently just tried the chicken tamale and it was delicious! I think my new favorite. My mother in law tried the chicken fajitas and it was a huge portion (could've probably fed 4 people) and they were so yummy and held really well as leftovers. Their margaritas are great as well...happy hour is only $4.75 each! Oh and for dinner, they have someone making fresh mini quesadillas that they give 1 per person complimentary. They are so cute and yummy and adds a nice touch to your meal. It's easy to order to-go through the Yelp app too so it is super convenient any time of the day! Second time at Villa Catrina, must say another awesome experience. Service is top-notch, attentive, friendly and prompt. Hubby and I split the chicken fajitas, a generous portion of grilled chicken breast, veggies, with a side of rice, beans, guacamole, salsa, and fresh-homemade corn tortillas. The kids plate are also generously served, priced well for the portion. We ordered the churros for dessert, and although my husband is not a fan, he raved on and on. The churros are crispy on the outside, sprinkled with cinnamon-sugar, tender and soft on the inside, by far a great churro. Wait-staff is vigilant of refilling drinks, chips, salsa, and removing dishes. And, we got to watch the start of the Dodger game, can't beat the experience. read more

As a longtime Monrovian resident, I can honestly say there aren't that many legit and authentic Real Deal Mexican Food spots in the immediate area, outside of the Adelita and Cafe de La Olla. I just happen to be jonesin for some Mexican food..outside of my norms.. Everything on the menu is pretty inclusive of different regions of Mexico. I ordered Guac which was really fresh and tasty. Carne en su Jugo was Amazing!! Tomatillo green sauce, a perfect blend of spices, not Spicy at all (which was a plus!). Costillas con Nopal was pretty damn near perfect! More nopal would have made the dish perfect! Portion sizes were great. The Corn tortillas were also tasty. Located at the old Domenicos spot on Santa Anita I can say I'm sorry I slept on this. If your looking for Americanized Mexican food, go to Rudy's, Max's or Paco's..this is not the place for you. If your looking for authentic Mexican food with Sazon, this is your spot!! I was there on a Saturday night to watch the Dodger game and the Mexico vs USA soccer game. We were seated promptly and our waiter took our order. We had some regular soft tacos and crunchy tacos. The food was okay nothing super good. The drinks were awesome the Aguas frescas & margaritas. Overall the atmosphere and customer service made us feel welcome but the food needs more flavor. I think we just found my new favorite breakfast buffet spot. My wife found this place after our participation in a Cancer Walk by yelping near our location. Let's first talk about the fact that they had all the football games on different TV's. So gentleman have no worries. Second the options that come with their buffet from omelette's to barbacoa to shrimp. My list of suggestions would start with the barbacoa, hands down the best, then the shrimp, waffles, chorizo and eggs, handmade tortillas, menudo (fresh made not that canned stuff), chile relleno, even their churros were bomb. Their is tons more food to choose from. I had a Dos Equis Amber on tap to drink. I would say that the best thing to top this breakfast off was the price, only $18. The service was very good, they were courteous, attentive and good vibes. Parking is kind of tight but there is plenty of free street parking on the street behind the restaurant. Restaurant was kept clean. You have a choice to sit indoors or there is an outdoor area as well. I will definitely be a return customer, this is absolutely worth the 25 minute drive from home. read more

Best Horchata I have ever had in my life... I have not tasted anything like this since my mom used to make Arroz con Leche when I was a kid. Definitely doesn't come from a powder or fountain. The service was great, very attentive and friendly. Multiple people checked up to make sure we had napkins and refills. I got the Mole, my grandma must have been in the kitchen because the sauce tasted fresh, every ingredient had it's own character in the dish - perfectly balanced. They offered this molcajete salsa, it's great if you like spicy! Last but definitely not least, handmade tortillas..... how can you not love handmade tortillas? As someone who loves restaurants and the art of food this was an awesome discovery. They have a full bar but we didn't check that out this time around. I felt like I was visiting family and they were busy feeding me. The chips and salsa are home made, crispy and tasty. The Salsa is fresh and amazing. If you want something a bit more spicy, the molcajete salsa is fantastic. We had the crispy beef taquitos, the pineapple buffalo wings and the "wet" shredded beef burrito. Came here for brunch 3 weeks ago after a hike in the mountains. The food was very delicious. Our family used to go to El Torito which I thought was not that good... So when we found Villa Catrina it was a pleasant surprise. I love Chile Relleno. So. I was glad that they offered it on their brunch menu. Menudo, Poole, ceviche, shrimp cocktail with avocado, Mexican rice, refried beans, green chile with pork, red Chile with chicken, beef or pork tacos with handmade torillas, didn't have enough room in my stomach for a whole omelette... But my son had one with spinach and ham, I had a bite and it was good. I ate so much I didn't have room for dessert. Service was very good, can't go wrong here for Sunday brunch. I have no argument with the food. it was great! However, Service was below marginal. Servers were good but received such rude treatment from bar. spoke with manager Genaro just to voice the dismissive, rude and unprofessional. I came in for the first time tonight with my grandma and we were both so happy we stopped. It didn't seem like they had a bar menu but that didn't stop the waiter from upselling us on margaritas. I had a mango margarita and it was so good and only $7. My grandma doesn't drink but had a virgin mango margarita because mine was so good. She ordered a Chile relleno dinner and really liked it. I Had a carne asada torta and it was perfect! Service was also good. Everyone is friendly and attentive. I was surprised to see such a good spot so slow on a Saturday night but either way we loved our experience. Total for our two meals and drinks was $36 which is a cheap dinner in my opinion.
