This place must literally never be open. I've tried to go here 5 different times during normal restaurant hours and it's always been closed.

We've eaten here several times, as a couple and with friends, and we really like it. The restaurant is much nicer than it appears from the freeway -- it's in a rather indusrial-looking building, but it's planted on two sides with all manner of trees, shrubs, vines, vegetables, flowers, and offers outdoor seating in the summer; it really is reminiscent of Italy. (Last year we were charmed to eat our meal next to a window covered, on the outside, with vining red yard-long beans -- very unusual and beautiful.) We have enjoyed dishes like eggplant parmesan and frutti di mare here...I also loved the cannoli. Nice wine list. Our servers have been very friendly and professional. I'd certainly recommend this restaurant to others. read more

The food was good. However, I had made reservations that they did not have on record, so we were put in the banquet hall. When we got to the banquet hall, there was no one there to seat us. The service was unpleasant and the waitress forgot the drink I had ordered until the end of our meal. Not too accommodating, for their lack of service quality. read more

The best restaurant in Midland, and there isn't a close second. The dining scene in Midland is a sad corporate desert of sad chains, and Villa D'alessandro is an Oasis. The executive chef, Marco D'alessandro's culinary pedigree is evident by the consistent and great execution of their flavorful and creative dishes. I'm an out of towner and used Yelp to locate this restaurant. The service was good, salads and bread good and our meals were good. Got Ravioli with sausage and gnocchi with pot roast. No dessert. Chairs were rather uncomfortable. read more

What this place has going for it is that it is only Italian place in town. Food is decent. Service could be better. Sometimes I weigh wanting Italian and feeling abused by the waitstaff. A couple of waitresses (Shirley for one) go out of their way but this is seldom with the others. read more

For a family owned restaurant in a small town, one would expect the service to be good to extraordinary. I found the service to be neither. I've eaten here infrequently and have never been impressed. Freeking great Italian restaurant. My wife and I have eaten here a few times, and each time it has been great. I have had the osso bucco, and the linguini and clam sauce. Both are fanctastic, my mother used to make both these dishes and it brought me right back to my childhood. The house chianti is pretty good. You should eat here if you are in Midland. read more

We have eaten at D'alessandro's a handful of times and the food has aways been very good! That led us to hiring them to cater our daughters wedding on Wixom Lake last month. Working with Melinda and her team was a pleasure. She gave us every confidence that everything was handled and we had nothing to worry about. The banquet attendants were prompt, efficient & polite. The food was great, everything was warm (not an easy task when serving 170 people at a venue 30 min. away from the kitchen)...Several of our guests commented to us about how great the food tasted (many of which are Italian, so they set the bar pretty high!). Food is great but the acoustics are bad! Very noisy and hard to understand a conversation with your table.

My experience was acceptable but unusual food. The high point was the service. I ordered veal Marsala with fettuccine with garlic and oil instead of the spaghetti with red sauce and it was as if it was routine. It was also very good with a lot of garlic the way it should be. My water glass was always filled. There were a lot of servers who smiled and seemed to enjoy working there. The Marsala, while tasty, was unlike any I have ever had. The sauce was a cream sauce and the three adequate medallions appeared deep fried as opposed to a light sauté. The meat was tender and I did enjoy it, just not what I expected. A good neighborhood restaurant, but not date night. I will probably go back before I leave Midland. read more

Quality of food was hit or miss from dish to dish. Chilean Sea Bass was very good but the pasta served with it was way overcooked and swimming in way too much marinara sauce. Dinner rolls were bake and serve like you buy at the grocery store. An Italian vinegrette should be prepared with EV olive oil in my opinion, not veg oil. Everyone who ordered a cutlet of any type, chicken or veal, said the were pounded way too thin an overcooked so far they were difficult to cut and not any easier to chew. Everyone said desert was just fine. Service was very slow. I wouldn't recommend this to a friend. It's certainly not authentic by any stretch of the imagination. read more

Went to take my 95 year old mother to an early dinner based on their hours of operation, got there at around 3 pm and staff sitting around outside tables said they were closed until 4 pm. Its a big deal taking someone with a walker in and out of a vehicle so I always check hours of operation prior to my dining decision. Well nowhere on any website did they say that they closed mid day. Probably won't waste my time at this place anytime soon. read more

My wife and I ate here again last night. And once again it was OUTSTANDING. We sat outside on a beautiful night among the grape vines and beside the wall where we could hear the water cascading down along with the soft music in the background. Our waiter was named Mike and he did a wonderful job. The service was perfect with each course coming out at the right time, not too quickly but just right. We never felt rushed. Never had an empty glass. And the food? Well it was mouth watering. As usual we ordered too much from appetizers to entrees but it was oh so good. We loved the atmosphere with people at the varioius tables talking, lauging, eating, sipping wine and obviously enjoying themselves. And we saw some old friends who stopped by our table as they know all about this place and are frequent guests. It was a great evening and wonderful "Date Night" with my sweetheart who happens to also be my wife of many years. We still believe Villa D'allessandro to be the BEST restaurant in Midland. read more

I really wanted to like this place as there aren't many Italian options in Midland but it was not to be. This is one of the few times I've actually had to send a dish back. It was a simple pasta dish where the pasta was literally floating in a half inch of oil. My second attempt was a very poor tasting red sauce that tasted greasy. D'alessandro's added some finishes to the dining room this year. The room is attractive and comfortable. The food here can be great. Lunch is the best deal in town with tasty sandwiches accompanied by house made chips. The pasta dishes for $10-12 at lunch come with a salad and are really good. The calzone is also outstanding and it is hard to eat the whole thing. Wines by the glass are generous and overall the list is extensive. Better bottles have lower prices compared to many other restaurants. At dinner I typically ask for fettucine alfredo as the side instead of the usual angel hair with red sauce. The angel hair side is pre-prepared and tends to be very soggy. Like another review here, the calamari could be improved. The rolls need improvement too but the seasoned oil for dipping makes up for this. Frutti di Mare at dinner can be quite generous with the seafood in the dish. The family has always been proud of its veal dishes so they are worth a shot. For dessert try their house stuffed cannoli which has some of the best filling you will find anywhere. If you go to one of their tasting meals be prepared for some great food and huge family style portions. Overall this restaurant is very good especially given the few real dining options available in Midland. read more

The best Italian food we've had this side of Italy. Treated our son and his wife from New York to Villa D'Alessandro and they loved the food as well. This is not a chain restaurant. This is fresh home made Italian food. Delicious cheeses. Their deserts will put a smile on your face. Nice atmosphere. Many dishes made with fresh ingredients from their own garden. The last time I was at this restaurant, it was when it was still owned by the original owner, and in Eastlawn Plaza. Had to have been over a decade ago, so when I tried this place out again, it was with nostalgic memories of the pizza dough being tossed behind a window where the entire restaurant could see the chefs work their magic. When I went just recently, while the decor has changed with the new building, I was pleasantly surprised to see that there is a outside seating area which is well lit and very nice. I went with the Fruti Di Mare, while my date went with a chicken parmesan. I was pleasantly surprised by my meal, as I expected a couple pieces of each type of sea food and mostly pasta, but it was quite the opposite, and after eating my fill of the seafood, I tried the pasta, enjoyed it and still had a decent amount of pasta and seafood left on my plate to take home. All of this for only 18 dollars, which is a pretty good price considering the amount, and type of food involved. read more

Excellent food & outstanding service. We ordered the lasagna - amazing, gnocchi w/Gorgonzola - WOW, ravioli - amazing, calamari, lobster, scallops & shrimp pasta - incredible! The food is good and this restaurant always has the possibility of serving you something that you haven't had before: a regional twist or a personal preference of the owners. Some dishes are exactly the way I want them and you can't get them anywhere else. It feels much less assembly line than the big chain restaurants and has fresher ingredients. Took my wife for dinner last night. The server was efficient and concerned about customer service. The stuffed portabella appetizer was delicious. My wife ordered spicy angel hair pasta and enjoyed it very much. I ordered shrimp scampi, with pasta and aspargus. The pasta was very good. The aspargus was inedible. Appeared to be thrown on a grill with some kind of oil. The chef must never taste it. The shrimp was in a bowl with some aritificial butter and oil and water. It was pretty much tasteless. The server had the chef steam some aspargus and it was much better. I commend the server. This is not an inexpensive restaurant. More attention to food quality is needed. read more
