    Fish taco

I was in Ukiah doing some business and we were craving Chile rellenos. Plain and simple. There were not a lot of options (not every place is open during SIP) but we found Villa Del Mar and it was perfect. Went inside to order. Server/cashier was very friendly, professionally welcoming and seemed grateful for the business. Chile rellenos - ooh boy, spicy! Lots of seeds remained but the creamy cheese and soothing sauce helped balance the heat. It was a very loose, liquidy sauce but the flavor was good. Carnitas taco - straightforward and tasty! Nicely crisp-fried and salsa topped was excellent. Fish tacos - my mom gave it a thumbs up! Flavorful side of refried beans. Mmmm. Winner!

Food is delicious 100/100, totally recommend ! love this place ! The service was fantastic and the food was cooked fast! The place is super nice looking too

We happened to come in with three of us right in the middle of a large party. I can't believe how quick they got our food out to us with all the customers! Thanks you so much, my granddaughter Teagan loves the rice and beans

4 shrimp somewhere under all that minced garlic!

I would give it less than one if i could! The lady who took my order was super rude and seemed bothered while taking my order. Then my food was disgusting to top it off. They used the sauce from mole as enchilada sauce and I ordered the simplest shrimp (al mojo de ajo) and the basically just threw a bunch of minced garlic on the shrimp! I am so upset right now! I am throwing this shit away! I don't like leaving reviews unless they are positive, but this was ridiculous!

Shrimp tacos are great! The seafood cocktail was good, a little bland, but kicked it up with hot sauce. Otherwise a great place!

Issuing a rare 5 stars here, but The Beehive is truly special…read more On our low-stimulus, off-the-grid vacation, a trip down from the mountain had us stop in for a late lunch/early dinner right at 4pm. We couldn't have prepared for the quality, and memorable nature of the meal we were served. Cannot recommend this enough for readers. Arrival and Seating: First, the welcome was warm and the service attentive--even at the start of the shift with a lightly-staffed crew. We were greeted in a warm manner by a fellow wearing a SF Giants cap (always a good sign), and invited to choose our table. We sat indoors on a warm day (it was about 95ºF) window-side, and enjoys wicker and bee-themed decor. The chairs had a relaxed shape that had me slouching (in comfort) immediately. Drinks: As I was driving, my partner ordered to his palate--which included two mezcal drinks. The first was the Tropical Storm, which had a great balance of passionfruit, pineapple and lime against a well chosen mezcal--smoky, but not acrid as can sometimes burden the spirit. The second bevvy was the She Devil and was a spirit-forward drink combining smoky mezcal and Xila with herbaceous Strega and Aperol (or Amaro in course case), balanced against lime. All delicious, as I confirmed with poison-tester sips. Tapas: We compared the tuna; on the Smoky Ahi Tuna, the flavor of mezcal was incredibly unique; on the Chicharrón de Aton, the texture of the fried tuna was nice and chewy, along with a spicy Fresno chili garnish. Entrees: My partner had the burger, which was juicy and served evenly cooked for medium--which we found desirable. An unlikely star on the plate, however, was the papayas braves substituted as a side. Their sweet berry glaze (blackberry?) made them almost like candy, and was perfectly balanced with a chèvre aioli. I went with the Chicken Poblano Pasta (never had fettuccine with corn sauce, I thought), and whoo boy was I in for a treat. The sauce was verdant on account of the poblano pepper, which lent a great flavor. Balanced against it was the corn, which was both grounding and provided a pesto-like texture. It was a hearty proportion with the large grilled chicken breast, but we came hungry and I left no crumbs. Last Thoughts This modest little restaurant in a modest little Northern California town was so good it became a memorable experience in itself on our modest little vacation. We left content (and full), and feeling good. I hope you have a chance to stop in, and leave feeling the same.

The food was definitely fresh and the quality was great, it may just be a personal preference but I felt a lot of the food was lacking in flavor. The risotto was okay but my fiancé did like his fish. Dessert was no good unfortunately, not a fan, not much sweetness going on and the textures were not to our liking. The oysters were the highlight of the night, possibly the best oysters I've had! They tasted amazing and paired well with my drink. Dinner would have been more enjoyable if it wasn't so crazy loud that you basically had to yell to hear each other or the server. Seating was also tight with so many people waiting to be seated and servers handling orders. It would've been a better experience if the other employees weren't shoving you to get by people blocking the way or if other customers weren't smacking your head with their bags from walking behind your chair. Service was meh...our server seemed aggravated but I just chalked it up to being a busy night.

I got a window seat for some typical solo tracker people watching activity. I went with the highly recommended items. Beet salad, seafood pasta, 2 glasses of brut rose. Beet salad was great! Love the flavor combination and also the plating. Super pretty. The seafood pasta was great. Pasta got a good bite to it and seafood was fresh. I had a nice chat with Heidi. She is the mother of the head chef. She is one proud mama and super fun to chat with. She recommended the bread pudding and I got it. Lovely. It is a little on the dense side but the lemon cut through the heaviness and make it balanced. I really enjoyed it here. Overall, I enjoyed ukiah in general. Good food scene (better than Mendocino) and just nicer people all around. Would like to come back again.

**Cultivo, Ukiah, CA**…read more This is a five star review and I do not hand those out lightly. If I am ever driving through Ukiah and hungry, Cultivo is now a destination stop, not an option, a requirement. The owner is Mexican-Sicilian and a working farmer, and the farm to fork claim on the menu is completely real. He grows a lot of what they serve himself, and the rest comes from daily farmers market deliveries. You can taste it in everything. We went on a quiet Saturday, only one other table inside, hot outside and cool in, which made it a perfect time to really pay attention to what they were doing. We started with the eggless kale Caesar. No egg in the dressing and you would never know. The kale was fresh, the croutons were clearly made in-house from yesterday's bread, and it was properly loaded with parmesan. Then came the Buffalo cauliflower, breaded and fried, smothered in Buffalo sauce with blue cheese on the side. A vegetarian could eat extremely well here and never feel like they were missing anything. Then the pizza arrived, and this is where it got serious. They run a proper Italian brick oven, and the guy working it was completely unhurried the entire time we were there, methodical and clearly a craftsman. We ordered the Funghi Part IV: oyster mushrooms, caramelized onion, fontina, cream sauce, parmesan, thyme, and truffle oil. This pizza is one of the best I have ever eaten anywhere. The dough, the balance, the truffle oil against that cream base, all of it. I told the cook and the server separately that this belongs in a conversation with the top pizza in Northern California, full stop, and I do not say that about pizza casually. The service matched the food. Our server drives an hour and forty five minutes each way to work here, despite living somewhere with plenty of restaurant options on the coast. She told us she does it because of how dedicated the owner is to quality, in the kitchen and on the floor, and it showed in everything about how she took care of us. If I were a Michelin judge, I would put this place up for a Bib Gourmand recommendation without hesitation. Not a star, but it's also not asking for one. Just a genuine recommendation for quality and value, and I mean that seriously. This is a small town in Mendocino County producing pizza on the level of destination spots in Geyserville and Forestville, and honestly outperforming most of what I have had in the Bay Area. Nothing else in Ukiah is operating at this level. If you are anywhere near this town, go. You will not regret it.

Twas a solo, business trip on a Friday night, so I was able to experience this place on full, local display. Sat at the sushi bar and I was able to watch the chef make my Oco personally. The only reason I left a star out is because as I sat at one of those bar spots, I was exposed to the back side of the deep fryer so not only was it warm but it was a touch scummy. It needed to be cleaned thoroughly. (To me that something you expect in Japanese culture is the expected cleanliness.) The service was not bad, perhaps not top notch, maybe due to the fact it was a full house with tables turning over. Overall well done and I will return.
