This was one of the worst eating experiences we have had.... we came for Father's Day and it was my 3 kids, husband and my parents and we were seated right away.... and that's about where things went south. The atmosphere looked run down (to be fair there were signs saying they were remodeling) and it was very warm however when going to the restrooms they were a nicer temperature we received our drinks in a timely manner and that's about the only thing that was timely about our visit. Our waitress started off nice, polite and helpful but then basically did a disappearing act and wasn't seen again until we received our food over 45 MINUTES later!!! Very disappointed. Love this restaurant normally, but had a bad experience last weekend. Food was ok, but wait staff were not making any effort to protect the patrons. None wore masks or gloves. Our server seemed to go out of her way to bend over the table even over the food. I don't really understand how people can give this place a half-assed decent review. I've eaten Villa Europa twice in my life, and both times it was completely disappointing. The first time I ate there I had some sort of, what they called, lasagna. The dish was utterly tasteless. I don't know how they did it, but it seemed like they took something as bland as a noodle, turned around, and sucked what flavor the noodle had in it ... OUT! That was then, let's spin up to now ... 2019. Today, I ordered the jagerschnitzel and the trio basket (mozzarella sticks, fried mushroom, and jalapeno poppers). The meal also came with a small side salad. I opted for ranch dressing, as it's generally my favorite. Let's just start off by saying that the two pieces of bread that came with my meal were pretty rock solid. I had to get a serrated knife to cut them open to spread the unsalted butter on them. Next, my mouth was watering as I was cutting into my schnitzel. It was covered in a runny, light brown sauce that was thick with mushrooms. After cutting a decent sized piece and popping it into my mouth, my heart sank to the floor. No flavor at all. No salt. No spice. Nothing. So, I opted to try a "home fry", and again, no flavor, salt, or spice on the potatoes either. Fine. So, I decided to try the sampler basket after shoving the other to the side for now. You can't screw up a fried mushroom, right? Wrong. Bland. Poppers? Bland. Cheese sticks? That's not even cheese. Folks, I kid you not, but the only thing that had and flavor to it was the damn ranch dressing! Even the marinara sauce was bland! But, at least they packed in about 30 cloves of garlic in the marinara. Now, if it would have had some salt and some Italian spices, then it would have been a halfway decent marinara. I know it's not an Italian joint, so I'm not expecting the marinara sauce to be good, or the cheese sticks, mushrooms, or jalapeno poppers. But, I mean, come on. If you can't cook an entree with any flavor to it, or even the slightest bit of sodium (that's basically salt, just in case one of you didn't know), then you really need to reevaluate your goals in life. I swear, some of the food at this place would be half decent if the "chefs" there would just add some seasonings to their food. I hope this review helps some of you stay away from bland dishes from Villa Europa. p.s. I bumped up my rating from one to two stars just because they had decent ranch dressing. read more

Excellent german food; excellent atmosphere. My favorite thing on the menu is "Beef Rouladen". This is a special place.

I went here for dinner one night while attending a conference. The staff is friendly and lively. I sat at the bar and ordered the jagersnitzel. It was delicious and so tender! Lots and lots of mushrooms. I ended with a black forest piece of cake. Delicious! When I visit Augusta again I will be back. The atmosphere and people were so welcoming. read more

We went expecting quality food at a reasonable price and boy did we get that and more! My husband had their famous "Homemade French Onion Soup au Gratin". He loved every bite. Our server recommended the Mediterranean Bean Soup to start and it was so incredibly tasty. For my dinner I ordered the Broiled Salmon Filet with Shrimp Veloute. It came with a vegetable medley and roasted red potatoes. Since I am more calorie conscious, I asked for the shrimp and sauce on the side. Along with a glass of Chardonay, I enjoyed the most wonderful meal! The salmon was tender and moist - perfectly cooked. It's located right off the exit and it's not hard to find. I'm going to give this place 5 stars. It was my first time eating at a German restaurant but the food impressed me. I ordered the Schnitzel with side potatoes. Once you squeeze that slice of lemon on to the Schnitzel, it brings out that terrific flavor. In an area that in my opinion is questionable I found this diamond. A German restaurant with a sold menu. I order Jager Schnitzel w/ Spatzel it also came with a very generous portion of homemade bread. I was very happy with my whole meal. They had outdoor seating which I liked and I normally could care less about such a things and wouldn't even mention it but dining al fresco took me back to my time in Europe and the food didn't disappoint either. Now I am not saying the food can stand on the same platform as the foods prepared in Germany but for Georgia I was really impressed. One of the best old school and longtime staple restaurants in Augusta. So worth the drive if you don't live close. Although they are probably best known for their German food, the Italian dishes are delicious, MY favorite lasagna in town. They have a 9 inch pizza on the appetizer menu that is so good and we never saw it before last night. My husband grew up as a kid eating this pizza, and our waitress told us it was still the same sauce and crust. He always said he wished they still had the pizza, but it was always there, just not listed under entrees, haha :) The French onion soup, amazing! I really could go on and on.. The Bavarian fritters and Reuben, 5 stars.. as well as the staff. Everyone here, so amazing and friendly. Our waitress, Jody, (I hope I remembered the name correctly), she rocks!! I wasn't sure about the Balsamic dressing for my salad so she brought me two other options without me even asking. One last note, wasn't necessary at all but very kind.. it was pouring rain when we left and a worker refused to let us leave without walking us out with his umbrella. Love Villa Europa! read more

I don't normally post reviews but had to in this case. My boyfriend had a German Oma and visiting "The Villa" is the closest thing he has found in Augusta to eating his Oma's cooking. He loves a slice of your schnitzel, your German salad, or not having to make spatzle himself. I myself delight in your blue cheese dressing, your homemade bread, and a slice of the white chocolate mousse cake... It truly is a girls heaven on earth every now and then!! So today was my first time at this restaurant. I really enjoyed myself, from the beginning it was a little hard to get someone to attend to us. well when I realized it was such a short staff I understood that amount of time. From the moment we sat down we had a lot of hospitality. The servers were very family like, you can tell that they had a really close relationship and the bartender spoke to everyone and made sure everyone was having a great time. I really enjoyed the company of the staff it Complemented my dinner as well. The food; even though it was really bad for me was fantastic!Everything was fresh, hot and just as I asked it to be. I asked for a cappuccino at the end of my meal and instead of the bartender just telling me the machine was down he did everything he could to get it back up and running so that I could get one. Went here for a Sunday dinner. I was looking for an Augusta restaurant that was different and had some good reviews and mentioned this place to hubby. He said that his co-workers have talked about this place for a while now. Apparently someone he works with comes weekly. We walk in and were seated immediately. Waiter came over and was so INFORMATIVE and POLITE and we were thrilled with his service. Thanks John! So after he described and explained the dishes to us (in detail) we ordered and all I can say is we have been Augusta since July 2010 and this is by far the BEST meal we have eaten at a non-chain restaurant. GOOD isn't even going to cover it. The Potato soup, German Potato salad, meal, and dessert were outstanding. We literally walked out of there with a grin and a deep sigh of satisfaction! The only thing I can criticize is the white bread - bland but warm and fresh. Apparently the Rye bread was good (I don't like Rye). We WILL be going back and maybe hitting it week after week to try all the dishes. read more

We went here for my husband's birthday. The service was exceptional. McKinley was our waiter and he was quick to give suggestions and was very accommodating. The owner was the one to greet us at the door and she was so sweet- you can tell it's a family business. Our food (we ordered two appetizers, two entrees and three desserts) was ALL IMPECCABLE. Dirty and grimy, we ordered two of their sandwiches both where soggy, greasy, and meat quality was poor not to mention mine was just meat and cheese half the advertised ingredients were missing (lettuce,tomatoes etc)....service was lacking really wanted to like this place. We have been here twice, with the same result. Poor service, and mediocre food. Both times, it has taken an hour to get our food, which is unacceptable. I do admit, we have come with larger parties both times (the first was about 10 and the second time, about 20), but that is not more than a typical number of patrons on a decent night. It should have been easily manageable. Especially since we were nearly the only ones in the restaurant both times. The table I was sitting at was, it seemed, one of the first to have our orders placed, but they were the last to come out. The people that had their orders placed after us were nearly done eating by the time ours came out. On top of that, our waitress acted like it was an inconvenience to do something as simple as get a couple napkins. And when I asked if it was typical to take an hour for the food to come, she pretty rudely said, "Your orders just came out!" After that, I told her that I didn't speak rudely, just asked, and didn't deserve a rude response. Then I said I know it just came out, but it took an hour; she rudely told me that it was a party of 30 (not true, that was 10 people off), but no it doesn't normally. Then she stormed off whispering "Jesus Christ!" The food is mediocre, as well. I have had better cordon bleu out of the freezer section at the grocery store... Then you have the decor. They say it's old world charm. Not true. Peeling, stained wall paper, cheap framed posters, dirty, grungy carpet, and vinyl table cloths are not old world charm. It's a sign of a much needed update. I do not recommend this spot at all. Not worth the money you would spend. We will not be returning. read more

Delicious food; huge portions! They also serve Italian for those jacktard types who go to a German restaurant expectting not to eat German food. That must happen pretty frequently because their Italian is surprisingly good. Worth the trip, but split your entree unless you have a huge appetite. read more

The food was ok, but home or French fries with a German meal, and forget about any type of substitution... It is not allowed. I have been in Augusta for some time now, retired US Air Force. I was stationed in Germany for awhile, sampled my share of schnitzels. The Villa Europa serves some excellent schnitzels of all types and the Cucumber salad served there, no one else in The CSRA can rival, the salad dressing is a killer too. read more

We just had another wonderful experience at the Villa and I wanted to share. Step away from the beaten path and head out to south Augusta for some awesome food and service! In a time where many of the chain restaurants have you ordering from a tablet on the table, it is always good to get first class service. It just doesn't exist much anymore. Be sure and try the french onion soup, the escargot and the Bavarian fritters! The salads are fresh and the dressings homemade. The wine selection is great; there is a full bar, an outside deck and more. One thing I particularly love that has been added lately is Peggy's Tree which she decorates for different seasons and holidays. Extra special kudos to our waiter Brian! Great job! read more
