I ate here a few weeks ago- first time. Our server (Angel? Not sure) was friendly and attentive. He remembered a couple that were with us. The chips and regular queso were good. My go-to order for any first time Mexican restaurant is enchiladas. I had the brisket enchilada plate. They were okay, but didn't wow me. Especially since a friend told me all their meats are smoked. My preference is Bandera style (resembles the Mexican flag): cheese w/verde sauce, chicken w/cream sauce, and beef w/red sauce, for the different flavors. I normally order rice but no beans, unless they're charro. Don't care for soupy refried beans. But their refried beans were very good! Overall nice dining experience. This place is new and definitely has some kinks to work out. Lots of people waiting on tables for 30 minutes when there were empty tables in plain site. Obviously, not enough waitstaff to be fully operational. We were seated at a high top table by the restrooms next to the bar and ignored for a good while. We asked to be seated elsewhere and were moved to the other side of the restaurant where we had pretty good service. I ordered a poblano beef burrito that wasn't very hot and had zero poblano peppers. My husband had the chicken fried steak with poblano gravy which was piping hot and quite tasty although the gravy needed salt. We will go back, mostly because we have been to two of the other locations and loved them. We will, however, wait a few weeks while they get up to speed. This location used to be Bono's Chophouse and Saloon which we frequented often. A lot of investment has been put into remodeling and those funds were put to good use. We entered into the restaurant and were greeted by a person who was in a hurry. Hello and Two? Then she started to walk to a table and sat us in between the only other two parties in the establishment. We were hounded by the waitress three times in five minutes asking if we were ready to order. The fourth time I just said ok. We ordered our water to drink, an appetizer sampler (which I made very clear to her that we wanted first or before our main meal or course), we then ordered two smoked pulled pork brisket sandwiches? Beef Brisket or Pork? We were served chips and salsa as we waited. Ten to fifteen minutes later here comes our waitresses with our main coarse or meal. I asked about the sampler appetizer? She said that she thought she put it in but wasn't sure. Two minutes later she returned with a large plate that looked nothing like the menu photo. I told her that I had specifically asked her to bring that out first and that I really didn't want it. She left it on the table and left. The pulled pork or brisket sandwich was a bun, pulled pork or brisket, cheese, tomato, something that looked like Cole slaw, avocado, some weird sauce and the top bun. Then the sandwich came with a side of Steak Fries. The first bite almost made me throw-up. I was going to try the try eating the pulled pork but it was so unflattering and no flavor. The Cole Slaw had no taste and was gross. So I ate the under cooked potatoes or steak fries. We then turned to the Appetizer Sampler and the only thing edible was the quesadillas. The other four items couldn't be eaten either. The waitress came back and asked how we were enjoying our sandwiches. I handed her my uneaten plate and then told her to get it off the table. She then told us that she's sorry that the food at the restaurant wasn't that good. I just went WOW! I'll never return and especially when she charged me for everything we ordered even though it didn't come out in the order we asked it too and nor was it eaten. One full sandwich plate, one 1/8th eaten and the sampler plate was tried but everything was the in full other than two bites out of each item, one bite for me and one bite for my wife. Highly recommend! The queso is addictive with pieces of brisket mixed into the cheese. We had enchiladas - the brisket was flavorful, the smoked chicken outstanding & the cheese were also very good. The atmosphere is rustic and casual. The staff is attentive and helpful. Spoke with Alex the manager, who is a long-time employee at other locations. He said the menu is unlike any other location. This restaurant is a great addition for Decatur. We will return soon. read more

Really enjoyed our supper at Villa Grande Ranch in Decatur,Texas! I had the Brisket tacos and I loved them! The flavor was awesome! My mom ordered the soup and Taco, and she said she really enjoyed them! My Husband order the Beef Fajitas, and was a little disappointed on the portion size for the prices but he said the flavor was good! Anyway I was over there stuffing my face with my delicious Brisket Tacos! Bad experience. Waited about 35 minutes without being acknowledged, no drink, or anything. We were about to leave when a waitress came and took our drink order, but then did not come back with food seemed like forever. We finally gave up, and was leaving and the owner stopped us at the door, and there was our food coming out. He apologized, and said the was taking care of our meal. We ate, food was good, but our memory of what happen left a bad taste in our mouth. It appeared they had two big tables of people, and it caused them to over look the small tables. This place has been here for over a year and has not gotten any better. In the 3x we have been there, the food was just ok and the service was fair - all pre-COVID-19. Now, yesterday, on July 11th - The person who answered the phone for a call in to go order was a moron and lacks any customer service skills. Had to call 5x to get anyone then get hung up on. Called back & "placed on hold" which meant laying the phone down for 3 minutes while talking to another employee. Never ordered anything because they didn't have what was on the online menu. Not sure if this is a Mexican restaurant or a barbecue restaurant. The menu is confusing based on all the smoked meats and some barbecue sauce in a few of the entrées. The chips are good the salsa is basically tomato sauce. A margarita was $12 which seems a bit high. The chicken in the tacos was dry. The beans and rice were OK. Sopapillas were very good. staff was very kind but it took quite a bit of time to be served to get our water and to get our food considering there were very few other people in the restaurant when we were there definitely not worth $100 including tip and two drinks for four people. if you want Mexican food don't go here. read more

The Smoked Gran Parrillada is literally the best thing I have ever eaten and Ive lived in New Mexico for 12 years. Hands down my favorite meal. It says its for 2 but trust me, splurge, get it all for yourself and take the leftovers home with you. I personally eat the entire thing in one sitting. I found the service to be prompt, friendly, and attentive, even on a Friday night. The food.... yum! We had the brisket queso which is so overloaded with tender meat you wonder how they make any money. My wife had the brisket tacos and I had the steak tacos, which we shared between us. Our server Evelyn was extremely attendant and today is Mother's Day, so she must of been busy and tired but never showed it! We recently moved here from CA and live in Chico. Although we love the area, there aren't many places to go out to eat. On our way to Leaper Creek, we saw Villa Grande Ranch. It looked festive on the outside and was just as fun on the inside. The food was great. And the Ginger Margarita was yummy. The only reason I'm not giving them a 5 is because the hostess sat us at a table that was close to another family. There was a booth available right across the table she selected for us and I asked, 'could we have the booth?' She gave me a strange stare and said, 'no, it's taken'. The booth was empty the duration of our meal. I thought it was a little rude, but luckily, the service was all good from there. We will be back! read more

I want to like this place but I don't. The only thing I like is the brisket queso. It was flavorful and delicious. I have tried the brisket tacos - they were dry and flavorless. I have tried the regular tacos. Nothing to write home about. The quesadillas were ok but not great. The service has been inattentive all but one time. We were with a group and that young lady worked her tail off! I know there are people who LOVE this place! I am not one of them. Food is great or this would be a 1 star. Every time we come here the service is slow. Last time we came our drinks didn't come till our meal was done. Tonight I ask for a booth and the hostess told me they didn't have any then sat us next to an empty booth. I said what about that one...she said sorry its not available. 10 min later they sat people there. 15 min later our waiter came to the table. Took appitizer and drink order. 20 min later he brought drinks and took our order after 45 min. My wifes order was wrong, my order was wrong. The smoked brisket enchiladas were very good, the meat portions were generous and the smoked flavor was on point. Husband enjoyed the smoked chicken enchiladas. Only thing I would change is to offer a non cilantro salsa alternative. My taste buds do not tolerate cilantro and it was plentiful in the salsa. read more

Interesting concept of Tex-Mex Smokehouse but need to work more on the details. Chicken fajitas we're good, fresh and well-cooked, but there were no peppers, only onions !?! Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Chips we're thin and crispy but the salsa was watery and bland. Only had queso Blanco which was fine with me but not my wife's preference. She would've eaten it anyway but it had a spinach-artichoke twang to it that was just weird. Last but not least the draft beer was only coldish. Fajitas we're good enough to make me try it again, hopefully beer will be colder. This could really be a great place if they'd address some of the smaller issues.
