He wanted this place since he said it's been awhile since he been here. We were greeted when we walked in. It was not busy and we were told to sit any where we like. Stephanie came over and introduced herself, first she gave us a breakfast menu. I said we can't order pizza? I drove pretty far to come here. She checked and said pizza starts at 11:30 am. It was 11:20 am and let me order the pizza thank God. We also ordered the Blueberry muffin: 3/5: It taste fresh, however it could have been warmed up. We ordered the following: BBQ, pineapple chicken pizza 4/5 The reason for the 4, I'd because he did not know it was pineapple on the pizza. The way its written it looks like pineapple chicken, not Pineapple, chicken etc. A comma makes a bug difference. He said it was good. Classic Veggie: 5/5 The pizza was full of veggies which I like. Ok, I don't buy a lot of pizzas because I make my own at home. But, when I do buy pizzas, I get them from Villa Lucia. I think their pizzas are authentic, remind me of a good East Coast joint and, most importantly, the prices are reasonable in the world of $50+ Bay Area pizzas. I had such a great lunch here yesterday. The service was very nice and gave off family-oriented vibes. My server made me the best iced coffee. She asked me how it was to made sure that the taste was to my liking. I had 1/2 pesto tortellini and 1/2 pesto fettuccine. It was so delicious and creamy. I did add a little salt, pepper, and parm cheese to it for some additional flavor. I was a little disappointed that they did not offer freshly grated cheese or freshly ground/cracked black pepper (just the black pepper and cheese in the self-serve shakers). But not a big deal because I really enjoyed the meal overall. The salad also tasted refreshing and crispy. I will definitely return here! read more

This review is based off a to-go order. I ordered a pizza and chicken marsala and I was pretty happy with the amount that we got. The pizza was pretty good but did soak through so I am sure that if it was in store, it would have been better. I would come back and try this in the restaurant. Newer items on menu are worth a try ,but read carefully . Rosemary fries aren't fried,but baked. Forget the pork loin as it was dry and lukewarm, I was charged $3 bucks extra for sauce for the dry meat. Prices have jumped on a lot of items too. A buck extra on all pizza across the board. Hit and miss on the new stuff. read more

After a six month closure Villa Lucia's reopened in late 2024. Many of the staff returned and the new owner is serving up classic Italian American fare. The dishes are very reminiscent of Chicago style Italian food. The house dressing is an herby red wine vinaigrette. Pizza was excellent with a buttery garlic flavored crust. Happy that a local joint managed to reopen and continue in the community. read more

Just dined there tonight and everything we ordered was so good! We ordered the blue cheese salad, the CLASSICO pesto pizza and we LOVED the crust. We also got the STROMBOLI pizza as well. I'm very gluten sensitive and this dough was fresh and it didn't affect me at all. One family member ordered the baked tortellini and loved it as well. Our absolute favorite surprise was our dessert! We got bread pudding with chocolate sauce on top and it was literally the best dessert I've had in awhile. The wedge salad was delicious as were the spicy chicken wings (Calabrian chilis perhaps?) and the Lucia's special pizza was yummy! The crust was not too thick and had a yummy chew to it. read more

We really enjoy the pizza here and are happy to support a local family business. The only issue really is that it's regularly closed for extended periods of time and there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason but we could just be missing the announcements. read more

I love the old school vibe and loyal customer patrons. 30. plus years in the neighborhood means something. It's what drew us into this place. Pizza takeout is recommended. Fresh! Thick crust and satisfying. Friendly staff. We have also tried the chicken cacciatore and chicken Marsala. Chicken was dry but sauce was delicious. The ravioli with Alfredo sauce was fair. Please See Revised/Edited Review Below w/Rebuttal to Owners Response: Hi, I am writing this review in the hopes that Villa Lucia Pizza will reversed course and go back to their roots of 10 plus years ago because at that time, Lucia was a very good pizza. However a lot has change since then. We noticed that the pizza dough changed, the texture and taste and the addition of added sugars in the dough was the start of what had turned out to be not so good for Lucia's long standing reputation. Fast forward to today, we tried Lucia's pizza two weeks ago and found that it tastes very similar to Costco pizza at more than twice the price, and to be honest we prefer Costco pizza and not for the price alone but for taste as well. Believe it or not, Costco's dough is pretty good with very little detectable sugar. So, if Villa Lucia's desires to be a stand out pizza again, we would love that, but as it stands, it tastes simply like a glorified Costco pizza. We can go to Costco for that. If Villa Lucia's wants to be a player in the pizza biz, it should compete with the likes of Howies and Pazzo, Palo Alto and San Carlos respectively. REVISED REVIEW & REBUTTAL. Hi Gary, allow me to clarify and edit inaccuracies. The purpose of writing my initial review was to motivate you into making a better pizza. We loved Villa Lucias pizza, it was our go to pizza since inception, 1982 but the dough recipe was change sometime in the mid 2000's well before you took over the business. We have lived in the neighborhood since 1978, 47 years, and 4 years after arriving here, Villa Lucia's was boarn and we have been big fan's ever since. However, when the previous/original owner changed the dough recipe, it became less popular with us and I was hopeful that the new owner would make some changes to relive the original taste. I love supporting local mom and pop businesses, I am a small business owner myself. so trust me when I say, I want nothing more than for you to be a GREAT SUCCESS!. I also agree with you, Costco pizza is not a great pizza, it just a quick and cheap meal, at best. I cook at home and I am a foodie and the quality and taste of the bread/dough matters. From Deli sandwiches to Hamburgers, the bread matters. Unless I am ordering a Reuben at one our local deli's, all my sandwiches have to be on a Sourdough roll because the bread makes the whole experience worth it. I like this place, it has kind of a Boston or Joe's Cafe in Northampton MA type of feel. I am especially fond of their meatball grinders.

So great to have this peninsula institution reopen. I've eaten at Villa Lucia's since I was a kid, but it was starting to get stodgy and outdated under the previous owner. I went to check it out over the weekend with a buddy and we had a great meal with excellent service. The new owner is doing a great job of preserving the old school feel, but breathing some new life into the place. The remodel is coming along nicely and he said they're going to be adding some new menu items in the coming months. Can't wait for them to start serving beer and wine again! Delicious pizza! The crust was perfect, crispy and thin in the center--just the way we like it. It's our first time here and everything from salad to bread was on point. So, When someone buys an already good pizza place they need to make pizzas the same or better...at least the same. So we loved Villa Lucias before is was sold. Pizza at least one a week. Now with the new owners the pizza just isn't good. Sorry but true. We got the Lucia special with extra sausage and there was hardly any sausage at all. Plus it just wasn't tasty. Seems like they wanted to save money on the quality. So, sorry to say we may never order again. read more

We have been going to Villa Lucias since it opened. We love the spaghetti angel and the warm bread. We used to love the salad before the new owner took over. We are hoping the new owner will talk to Joe about how he made the salad. We know it is closed for construction right now but we are hoping the green salad will return as it was before the new owner. Always fresh lettuce and sweet cherry tomatoes. It seemed that the new owner was using a bag salad. It was not good at all. We prefer green to caesar so would love to see it return. I was so happy to hear they reopened but then I received my order and am totally disgusted. The pizza was raw and cheese slid off by the time it was home. Pasta was mush and not edible. It was suppose to have a salad but didn't receive that. The garlic bread was hard as a rock and didn't have cheese as ordered. Overall horrible and I threw it all in the garbage. read more

My mom and I went here tonight and we had a great experience. I grew up coming here and even after changing owners the food is just as good and the service is just as friendly. We got to meet the owner and he was very personable. Just like before the food is so tasty and so reasonably priced. It still has the same quaint feel to the restaurant which I love. I am a born and raised Redwoodcidian and have been going to Villa Lucia's since I was 5 years old. I am 34 years old now and have always love it! Bread was on point, pizzas delicious. But now, I don't know what is going on!? I heard there were new owners and now Villa Lucia's is NEVER open. Like NEVER. Since June I have wanted to go eat there, I'm not even exaggerating, about 5 times and every time they were closed! Today, September 18th at 7:25 PM, a Wednesday, I went to see if they were open so I can eat there with my wife, CLOSED! Like what the hell. The hours say open Tuesday-Sunday 4-9pm. Phone message doesn't even say what the hours are or give any information what so ever. What's going on? This new ownership is booty. Guess I won't eat there ever again, since it's always closed. 4 stars because I hope the latest visit isn't the new norm. I loved Lucia's manicotti. And their combo pizza was a go-to. But. Since the renovation - which is low key nice - they removed my favorite dish, the pizza was sort of underdone and not appealing. My friend who has gone there since he was a kid was sad over his calzone. The light is nice now that they've opened up the bar area. Everything else feels pretty much the same. Service was good/standard. If you go, ask for your pizza to be very done. I still want to support independent old guard places so will try again some time. But. Losing my favorite dishes really is disheartening. read more
