An absolutely charming place. The views are spectacular outside and the host is very personable and accommodating. Breakfast was delicious I especially loved the veggie scramble with artichoke hearts. The room was lovely and the bed was comfortable. I would definitely return.

(visited late Sunday, last day of the Wine Harvest Festival, mid October 2008) Mondo Cellars, a.k.a. Villa nel Mondo, is a charming bed & breakfast Northwest of Paso. As a B&B, I don't recall a more romantic stop on my admittedly wine-focused trip in October of 2008. While I didn't stay there, I can very easily imagine myself lounging on their patio sipping some of their wonderful wines, admiring the view of the canyon below, possibly on a vacation or even honeymoon. During my admittedly brief experience there, I had the impression of a location that had the feel of getting away from it all while still being close enough to town and some of Paso's top wineries that it would never feel remote. The staff was very friendly and the interior of the home was modern and attractive. As for the wines, there were only five wines to taste, but at no cost. These are all blends of one sort or another, and while nothing was earth shattering, all were decent and their 05 "La Rocca" GSM and the 06 "Razzo Red" were very good. The latter was a zin and petite sirah blend with plenty of power. Mondo is typically open a little later than many stops near Paso, so if you are heading back to town from the Adelaida area wineries, take the scenic route along Chimney Rock Road on your way out, and make this your last stop of the day on the way back to town, or to stay. As a wine stop, I don't particularly see myself returning, but if I was ever in need of B&B or was passing by, I would definitely keep it in mind.

My favorite winery in ALL of California. Not only is the views nice but the wines are amazing!!!!

Great location to have my daughters wedding. Very helpful the Mondo brothers. Clean grounds. Location is really nice. A++++

    Seriously, the Tuscany room.

This place is nothing short of fantastic. I was here for a stay at the B&B. the Tuscany room is beautiful, I'll post some pics too. I could nitpick to give it 4 stars, but this place is just too nice and cozy to short them a star they deserve. Two brothers own and operate the place. Even though they aren't doing public tastings, I got to do one. Their wine is great too. HIGHLY RECOMMEND STAYING HERE!!

Had no intention of wine tasting here, as I was there for the b&b. To my surprise, they had couple of tasty wines, that I really enjoyed! The b&b was exceptional, as was the breakfast that was served up! The view from the b&b is very scenic, and they have a little over a mile walking trail around part of the property. Set away back from the road, and on top of a hill, the views are really nice! The room we stayed, was like staying at a nicely decorated home, with old style bath tub, and a separate huge shower that even had a view. The room was quite large with views of three sides of the property. I would have expected to pay a lot more than I did to stay there! This is one of the least expensive b&b's I could find, and much nicer than most of the hotels and other b&b's in the area. The room has a flat screen tv, fire place, and a comfortable, not broken down bed. It's family run, and the Inn manager was extremely friendly and helpful and almost felt like family. He made breakfast for us each morning, which is way better than any diner I found in town! Overall, I had a great experience, and will stay here next time I visit!

    Our dream wedding come true!

No hiking trails nearby, stores, etc. It's was not an issue, but we were not prepared for driving on dirt/gravel for so long. There's a large fenced dirt-field on one side and a vineyard on the other side of the grounds and I believe the owner is at the top of the hill. The good: Cute outdoor space to sit around the gas fire pit. We had a nice evening sitting around it, with soft music playing from our camper. There are 3 campers on the property that share the common space. You get fresh eggs, butter, OJ and champagne in the fridge. Apparently you can see the farm animals if you coordinate with the owner, but we didn't have time. Since it's remote, you can be somewhat loud and dance around the common area. The bad: The dining table was warped, but we didn't use it at all. Cobwebs around wheels of camper and plants: wouldn't be a big deal but the small outside dining table is right next to them. Bed sheets were absolutely filthy. I don't know when the last time they were washed. The unit smelled. I felt like I was in an outhouse the entire time. We purchased 2 candles at a couple of wineries to try and hide the smell...it slightly worked. We wouldn't have stayed any night except we came with another couple who couldn't afford to stay someplace else at the last minute. Our friends also complained about the smell of their unit (they purchased candles too) and what looked like dirty towels just thrown back into the cabinets. I debated whether to give this place 1 or 2 stars. I decided to give 2 because I can see a lot of positive in the place. However, it needs some major cleaning.

This was the most prefect vacation with friends. We got all three of the suites and had an amazing time hanging out all weekend. Each camper is thoughtfully designed in a different motif, with every amenity covered, along with coffee, fresh eggs in the fridge from their adorable chickens, milk, a bottle of MUMM Sparkling Wine and OJ to make mimosas in the morning. The A/C in the campers works wonderfully, and the bed is firm, yet comfy. You are also provided with plenty of flatware and glasses/plates/bowls, etc.. to get you through the weekend should you choose to eat there, which we did! We did a grocery store run the first night and grilled steaks and veggies on the awesome BBQ they have, and ate out on the lovely dining table. The next morning we made bacon, eggs, and toast and dined al fresco again. They have a great communal area for hanging out with comfy stylish furniture, a fire-pit table, and a large hammock under their gorgeous oak tree, which one of my friends laid in for a couple hours one night. The wifi is good, and they even have speakers inside and outside of each camper if you want some jams! I can tell you a lot of 80's music was played outside, hope Kristy and Evan didn't hear us! So aside from this being a really great place to stay and hang out with friends, the hosts, Kristy & Evan are probably the sweetest couple I have ever met. They came down and greeted us about 30 minutes after we had all arrived and talked with us a bit before going back up to their house. They also had their two adorable dogs come down with them, who are some of the most loving dogs I have ever met. Lastly, let's not forget, the GOATS! And the sheep, and the chickens, and the ducks. They have the most amazing farm with the sweetest animals you could ever meet. I spent about 30 minutes just loving on their beautiful animals, petting and talking to them. They are all so friendly and nice and love human interaction. If you are thinking of staying here, don't think twice, just book it! It's an amazing place, close to downtown and not far from the wineries. You will LOVE staying here.

When we checked in and got to our room, the property felt completely empty. We were the only guests we could see, which made the whole place feel eerie and uncomfortable. We walked around the entire property and saw no one. There were only three cars in the parking lot, including ours and the front desk employee's car, yet we were told they were "fully booked" when we asked about moving to a larger room. The room itself was not great. The bed is extremely hard and squeaks with every movement. On top of that, the AC does not work. We told the front desk before leaving for dinner about the AC and were told someone would come fix it. When we returned, the room was even hotter than before & it felt like walking into a sauna. The windows don't open, so the only way to get air in is by opening the doors, which obviously lets bugs in. The "free wine tasting" was also frustrating. At check-in, we were told that we would get complimentary tastings at the tasting room. When we went to the tasting room, we were told they were "too busy" for tastings and that we would need to buy glasses of wine instead. We didn't want to make a scene, so we ended up purchasing a bottle and a glass, which came out to $85 & we never received the tastings we were told were included with our stay. Overall, this has been a terrible experience. Between the uncomfortable room, broken AC, lack of guests/staff on the property, and being denied the complimentary tasting we were promised, I would not recommend staying here. Do not let the 4.6 rating fool you.

"B&B" is a real stretch and the only animals are a couple of miniature horses,a goat and a pig (not a "ranch" to my mind). Upside: The grounds and garden are nice and there is a pretty gazebo above a man-made water garden, a lower patio with bar (no bartender), a huge deck with porch and holiday lights strung, which looked lovely at night. Downside: The dusty dirt road gets really old after a while and the pool is above ground, unheated, and only 4' deep. Warning - kids in diapers are not welcome in the pool. This is a big deal when the average summer temps are over 90 degrees and there are no other options to cool young kids. Ever heard of swim diapers and plastic pants? Accommodations: The main house is decent and sleeps a lot of people and appears fairly well equipped. The accommodations next to and above the garage are a definite pass - it is not very big, everything feels cheap, lots of ants, the A/C is really noisy and barely adequate to keep the place cool, although there are fans. There is plenty of on site camping and camper space, with available bathrooms and showers. The owner is really kooky and appears to run the place entirely by herself. We stayed at the "ranch" for a wedding and beyond seeing her the first five minutes we arrived, never spoke to her again. Not once did she ask how we were doing or if we needed anything. There is zero cell phone reception or internet, so we had no way of even getting in touch with her. Funny that we saw her happily eating and drinking at the reception (how weird is that?) Later we heard her complaining that people were using too much electricity! I am greener than the average person, but I'm sorry, it was over 100 degrees when we were there so the A/C was going full tilt while we were there and the party/reception lasted until 2am! She was very well compensated for the entire weekend and the whole thing seemed very petty and left a bad impression. Only after our stay in talking with other guests, did we discover that the tap water is apparently not advisable to drink! WTF?! We all had intestinal/stomach issues for days after our stay. Do yourself a favor, there are tons of other places to stay in the area. You can do much better in Paso!

In the evening the fireplaces are burning with hardwood every night and they offer fresh made s'mores to hotel guests. There's actually a s'mores menu. The whole environment is almost like something from a movie. They've also got a wonderful library that is tastefully appointed with many wonderful and interesting different books to read. It definitely invites you to sit down and snuggle by the fire with a good book. Such a cozy feeling! You can also select some candy for a snack. The rooms themselves are also beautiful and the bedding looks nice. Though I will say for me personally the pillows were really uncomfortable, and they had a rough spun duvet which smelled musty on the inside like it hadn't been washed in quite awhile. It looked and smelled like they were washing the sheets and the blanket but not the duvet itself. They also offer breakfast in the morning, but it's a little bit later than some other places so if you have to get an early start, then you probably won't be able to catch it. Overall I really enjoyed the stay and would say this experience is really good for the boutique traveler that is looking for a peaceful, unhurried trip.
