My boyfriend and I came to Calipaso Winery for what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend getaway, and it has honestly been such a disappointing experience. When we checked in and got to our room, the property felt completely empty. We were the only guests we could see, which made the whole place feel eerie and uncomfortable. We walked around the entire property and saw no one. There were only three cars in the parking lot, including ours and the front desk employee's car, yet we were told they were "fully booked" when we asked about moving to a larger room. The room itself was not great. The bed is extremely hard and squeaks with every movement. On top of that, the AC does not work. We told the front desk before leaving for dinner about the AC and were told someone would come fix it. When we returned, the room was even hotter than before & it felt like walking into a sauna. The windows don't open, so the only way to get air in is by opening the doors, which obviously lets bugs in. The "free wine tasting" was also frustrating. At check-in, we were told that we would get complimentary tastings at the tasting room. When we went to the tasting room, we were told they were "too busy" for tastings and that we would need to buy glasses of wine instead. We didn't want to make a scene, so we ended up purchasing a bottle and a glass, which came out to $85 & we never received the tastings we were told were included with our stay. Overall, this has been a terrible experience. Between the uncomfortable room, broken AC, lack of guests/staff on the property, and being denied the complimentary tasting we were promised, I would not recommend staying here. Do not let the 4.6 rating fool you. read more

Beautiful Italian style villa with only 7 suites. All the rooms are so large, luxurious and well built. Some have Romeo and Juliet balconies the rest have sitting balconies all overlooking the vineyard. The property is located in the rolling hills not far from the main road but tucked away enough to feel away from it all. The price point for the rooms is below the value received. There is not a restaurant on site, but they do provide a daily delicious breakfast in an indoor lovely setting that was included. They offer an extensive Sunday brunch for $39.00. Parking is sufficient for the number of suites and an EV charger is located in 2 stalls. The staff is accommodating. Allegretto vineyard and winery is just down the way with a lovely upscale restaurant if you don't want to go downtown which is 11 minutes away with a plethora of choices for dining and shopping. Can't wait to return to this gem. I did have a problem with booking through a third party service, so I would suggest booking directly to ensure your room is available. read more

Dined for Valentines Day. Beautiful property. We didn't spend the night, but wish we had. The dinner (while pricy) was solid. Several glasses of wine came with the meal. Wine was just ok...drinkable but didn't blow me away. Food was served three course. Since we each ordered differently, I got to try to lobster bisque with huge chicks of lobster, prawn risotto and a filet steak. Everything tasted great. A little overcooked, but I didn't mind. Lovely property. Friendly staff. Clean room but we had a visitor which meant we had to pack up and leave around 10p. A fat mouse was running around our suite and where there is one there are many. I realize this is on a large vineyard but still- no way I could sleep in the suite. When we dropped the key in the after hours basket, our exact room key was in the basket. A duplicate was just sitting there for who knows how long. That didn't feel great either. ‍ Won't be back. read more

Easter Brunch today and what a wonderful spot to eat! No crowds this is truly a locals secret for Sunday brunch. Price is great!! We sat outside music playing, sun shining thru the trees, we had umbrellas and heaters what ever we needed. Chef Casey and his amazing food it was all just perfect. The absolute worst customer service I've experienced in the last two decades as a seasoned traveler. Stay at the la Quinta next door it's an upgrade for half price and double the customer service. For even better service stay at the Allegretto, they actually have staff onsite and air conditioning. Avoid the Calipaso Winery and Villas, the website misrepresents the villas, there is no one to assist on site, no air conditioning and they do not answer the phone even whilst you are guest on site, no one at reception either to help. We made reservations for Sunday brunch at 1:30. When we walked in and saw the old food sitting there, we should have turned around and walked out. It was clear that we were the last reservation and they had no intention of refreshing the fruit, sandwiches, deviled eggs, salads, or pizzas. Every food item was crusty, dried out, shriveled, and unappetizing. We were offered a fresh omelette. At $40 a person, that omelette should have come with a puppy and a massage. Sadly, it was just a little omelette and the cooks didn't even get the omelette orders right. This was the WORST restaurant experience I've ever had. I had read google reviews and they were glowing. I can't imagine how. This place was horrible!! Do not go! You would be better off getting a bag of chips at the gas station and a soda. read more

Wow. For the villa on a overnight stay. Wow. On Travelocity, I found a great price for a room, midweek, $214 all in. It seemed well-priced, but I what I didn't know yet, it was a steal. About 10 rooms only, it's part of a vast and gorgeous winery and vineyard. I can only comment on the rooms and breakfast included. But the grounds, super lovely. The check-in process was easy, and I was escorted to our room. The room is HUGE! Monster-size bathroom with awesome shower and two sinks, all tile bedroom, step down into a small living area with sofa, chair, fireplace, and TV and then what I loved, a balcony with 2 chairs overlooking the vineyard. Very comfortable, I tell ya! The breakfast buffet is AYCE, but nothing fancy. Eggs, a meat, fruit, cereal, toast, coffee/tea, small housemade muffins, and perhaps the best, fresh french toast made-to-order (but I didn't try). I loved our stay. Memorable. read more

Don't Paso this Paso Robles Winery and Eventery... Had the pleasure of experiencing CaliPaso just before the holidays last year on Halloween weekend for my friend's Ashley and Lindsey's nuptials... The ceremony was beautiful on the grass trim lawn... Like Picture perfect setting. The pathway along the side of the lawn has a few benches that are perfectly spaced and where a lot of the later guest (including my sister and I) enjoyed a amazing ceremony. The reception was of course where the celebration went up a notch with round chairs and tables, amazing decoration, lighting, live music and center pieces on fleek! The appetizers were out of this world and yes there were some vegan friendly fingerlings in the mix. I had so many I lost track, but mostly avocado-ish toasts, tapenades and deliciousness of that variety. CaliPaso is a large mission-esque wine establishment, but they also have some choice craft brew. The rooms where a lot of the bridal party and brides stayed were beyond anything you could imagine with a full kitchen and practically all the perks, space and amenities of a lofty apartment. All the staff/CaliPaso family were incredibly warm and full of personality. Not one thing went off without a beat. Good wine, great craft beer and lovely eats... Though if not for an amazing special event the beautiful are beautifully pricey... Absolutely worth it, but maybe not the everyday experience as Paso Robles is vast with much to enjoy. While I did enjoy my dinner meal as one of two people in the mix with major dietary restrictions, it was a little lackluster in terms of variety/option, but still quite enjoyable and I appreciate everyone involved. The landscape is breathtaking as is the main entrance. Very peaceful, scenic and inviting of any and all. Definitely will be back to enjoy the tasting room and a meal or two in the future and maybe a stay for a special occasion to break the bank a little... What a wonderful experience. We had a buffet brunch at our family reunion for 15 people. Each fish that was offered on the buffet was excellent. We have been to many buffets, but this is the first one where the chef and accompanying staff made efforts to put out a lesser amount in each buffet tray and continually filled it so that we were always getting wonderful fresh food! And what a wonderful variety. Many different kinds of quiches, bacon sausages, scrambled eggs, eggs Benedict, waffles, different kinds of salads, delicious tri-tip roast and a variety of desserts including wonderful chocolate dipped strawberries. Choice of juices, coffee, teas, and hot chocolate were offered. Delicious wine could be purchased by the glass or by the bottle. Above all the service was outstanding. The wait staff couldn't do enough for us! Calipaso can't wait to visit you again. If we could give this great place something even higher than a five star rating, we definitely would! read more

We recently stayed for our first time. Although the view from the room was incredible, I found the front desk reception upon my arrival weak at best. No welcome, no, is this your first time visiting, the most plain, dry cardboard staff. We may try again for the view and seclusion but 50/50. It's always gorgeous - all of my pictures & videos look amazing no matter what! The load in and out is easy, flat, no steps, always parking nearby. And they do not put limits on how loud the music can be (like other venues close by) But what truly sets CaliPaso apart is how friendly and professional the staff is! We've only lived in Paso for a year now and are still finding new restaurants to try. The menu attracted me to CaliPaso Winery for a nice-ish Friday night dinner. Good assortment of many different dishes, I think even someone picky could find something they liked. First off, what a beautiful property! I sort of didn't even know this place existed, but I have been to their downtown tasting room so I'm a little familiar with their wines. If I had known this adorable place existed I probably would have stayed here before. We shared the spinach artichoke dip and I had the salmon with orzo. The cook on the salmon was perfection. The food was good but everything had one thing in common... needs salt! What a shame because the quality and combination of ingredients were there, they just needed a bit of acidity and a bit of salt for it to all come together. The wait staff was great. Young, energetic and accommodating. Great job. I'll return in the future, probably for lunch. Oh, and by the way... their rosemary focaccia bread and olive spread is delish. read more

Well decorated and lush. You feel like you went to some friends Tuscan farm house and he gave you a big room to stay in with a real soaking tub (6Ft 250). A little deck with a view of the valley and vineyards. Quiet and serene is what I would say about the ambiance. Service is very personal and sweet, you get the feeling they want to help you (isn't that different!) In the morning on Sundays it's a brunch buffet with omelettes and sandwiches and fruit and roast beef. Coffee and Juice the thing that stands out is it is a small restaurant with huge attention to detail. Nothing mushy or overdone everything presented well and tasted excellent (usual fare and some extra). I would recommend the little bit of everything omelette and the biscuit and gravy with rosemary (wow) the staff is polite at your table and again they want you to have a good experience. I had to order a pelligrino so I could tip them, because I had no cash. Worth the money and it was super reasonable, well beyond what I was expecting. Not a picture person sorry. read more

We just came back from a surprise trip that my husband planned for my birthday and all I can say is wow! This hotel is sooo beautiful and I love that it is so quiet and peaceful! We walked around in the evening and it was so serene. On our first night, my husband planned a private dinner by Cassandra and OMG it was such an amazing experience! Her server Otelia was the absolute sweetest. Cassandra worked with my husband to plan every detail of the dinner and she greeted us upon arrival. The food was so fresh and tasted amazing. Cassandra is an amazing chef! The front desk staff was so nice too! I wish I caught the name of the staff member who was trying to help us find something to do on our second night since we were trying to find something to do for Cinco de Mayo. She even called our room after we left with more recommendations. We stayed at the Winemaker's Residence, and it was beautiful! I love that it's at the end so we had privacy. It was nice and clean! The only thing we didn't get to take advantage of was the complimentary tasting downtown that they provided to guests. I wish it was on site so we could have done it as an evening activity. The last thing to comment on was the breakfast at the bistro each morning. It was yummy and such a nice option to have to start off our day. Another wish is that this bistro was open for other meals so we could stay on site. read more

We had a wonderful experience at Calipaso restaurant! We booked a reservation and we're promptly and warmly welcomed. We had requested outdoor seating and were shown to their lovely balcony. There, we enjoyed a beautiful view of the vineyards and a recommendation of the pesto shrimp bruschetta by our server, August. Umm YUM. Thank you August! Their sourdough bread with butter and olive tapenade was also thoroughly enjoyed by our table. I ordered the tomato, avocado, burrata salad which was the highlight for me. My husband ordered the same but added salmon and he also gave the salad 5 stars. The grilled artichoke for the table as a side did not disappoint, another 5 stars. Side note, the temperature dropped when the sun went down and we asked if there was a chance we could move inside. Not only did they accommodate our party plus a toddler but they did it warmly and patiently. It felt like we took a quick drive to Tuscany. My only slight complaint is that it was very quiet on the balcony but we addressed it by playing volare radio on Pandora from our phone. Beautiful grounds, delicious food/wine and great service. We called calipaso winery on ssaturday noon and they mentioned that we can come in if I buy bottle and hang at their property. They were very accommodating and gave us nice outdoor seating on their patio with heaters and even turned on their fireplace. The staff was exceptionally warm and welcoming, and service was top notch. The property in itself is beautiful with the main castle and string lights near the square and fountain. Stayed here for a mini-non-airplane-covid get away and I couldn't have been happier with my choice of lodging! With only 7 rooms, Calipaso Villa was a quaint, private retreat from the standard Marriotts or other chain hotels that we typically stay at. They observed SIP protocol, which I appreciated, particularly in a couple of ways: they didn't come into our room during our 2 night stay, which I didn't mind, because I don't like people in my room anyway, even if they're there to clean it; and they took our order for breakfast instead of serving a plated meal or buffet (although their food was SO good that I wish it was a buffet!). As for wine hour, my personal favorite, they offered a cute board of assorted meats, cheeses, and bread sticks (refer to picture). We took breakfast and wine hour in our room, as our patio was adjacent to the dining area anyway. We were also given complimentary passes to their wine tasting location in downtown Paso Robles. This is a NOT TO BE MISSED experience (because it was free with the room and) because I don't think I ever tasted a bad wine there. All their wines were ultra delicious, which I can't say for many wineries. The views at the vineyard were phenomenal, the service was pleasant, and the safety made us feel comfortable. There are so many wonderful things to say about this property, that there are only 7 rooms is amazing in itself, it is VERY quiet! The grounds are to die for and the breakfasts were great! They even had free charging for Tesla's, which I utilized. But when you are charging up to $500 a night and want to compete with 5-star resorts, the last 5% can spoil the entire experience. A few upgrades would bring this back to 5 stars! * The furniture looks to be original from Villa Toscana, it needs to be thrown out and replaced! * One light was out in our room, another was flickering on and off, and two others, one was warm white while the other was bright white. * The baseboards are separating in the bathroom and elsewhere and all scuffed up. If they just filled the gaps and repainted, it would go a long way. * The cabinet above the sink has come loose. * The balconies have two-tone paint due to years of weather. * The wood doors are in bad need of stain and varnish. * There was a ticking sound all night that sounded like something was hitting on the walls or a pipe. It made it hard to sleep. We stayed in Nebbiolo room, but I would guess that all the rooms are in the same condition. I hope that the new YOUNG owner has added hospitality to his winemaking training and brings this property back to a 5 star level. read more

We attended my niece's wedding last fall at CaliPaso Winery and I loved everything about it. From the lovely Italian villas to the beautiful landscaping and sweeping curved double staircase (a perfect backdrop to the wedding nuptials) it felt as if we were in Florence. We stayed in the Voigner room and I loved waking up to the view of the vineyard. The guests are treated to a wine and cheese tasting that we highly enjoyed. And the breakfast was also super fresh and delicious. The jetted tub in the large en suite bathrooms are the perfect way to spend a relaxing vacation. We are so happy we chose this place! The website does not do it justice. It is stunning in person and quietly nestled away off of the beaten path. I couldn't stop taking pictures of the grounds because there are so many beautiful nooks and details throughout the property. We stayed in the Cabernet suite. We had a breathtaking view of the vineyard from our balcony. The bathroom was pretty nice, especially the deep soaker jacuzzi bathtub. I was very impressed that they offered sulfate free shampoo and conditioner in their toiletries lineup. As someone who has their hair professionally colored on a regular basis and cannot use sulfate products this was a huge perk. We did have two hiccups during our stay but were quickly assisted by the facilities manager, named Modesto. The lock on the door is kind of wonky. We found ourselves unable to enter our room at the end of the night. Modesto came and let us in. Then once we were in we realized our air conditioner didn't work. Modesto came to the rescue again. He spent an hour in our room working to fix it. We were very grateful. He even refused to take a tip from us afterwards insisting he was merely doing his job. The little kitchenette came in handy for us but we really needed some silverware in there or at least some disposable cutlery. The breakfast served also exceeded our expectations. I thought there would just be some muffins and coffee but was pleased to find frittatas, bacon, yogurt, and a variety of other foods available at no additional charge. The dining hall is very elegant, as is the rest of the property. The lady that was in there taking care of everyone was very personable and friendly. I was instantly greeted upon entering and made to feel welcome. I wish we could have stayed for the wine and cheese tasting but I did purchase a bottle of the Zinfandel with to take with me. It is worth every award it has won. Our stay here was only for one night but we really wish we could have stayed longer. This was our third stop on a California coast vacation for my partner and I. We stayed at five different places during the trip and Calipaso beat them all hands down. Even the Fairmont in San Francisco couldn't top this place. We are interested in returning to California just to visit Paso Robles and stay at Calipaso again. We really love this place! read more

A must visit if your a local or if your visiting from out of town. This was an amazing experience from start to finish. What we LOVED: -All staff were very friendly and accommodating Even though we could not check in early, "Ruth" allowed us to pick up our tasting room passes prior to check in and we were able to enjoy the tasting room until our room was ready. -Grounds are very clean and ambiance is relaxing. You feel like you are on vacation and far away from home even if you live locally. -Rooms are nothing short but incredible. We were fortunate enough to stay in the Winemakers Villa. This Villa is twice the size as my own home. I wish I could post my video because it's 2000 Sq ft, two king size rooms, full kitchen, jacuzzi, two more full bath tubs (fits two) in each king room, full Kitchen, three fire places ....I can go on and on...check the website. I place this Villa in my too three places I have ever stayed. -Room comes with evening happy hour charcuterie & more wine. -Room also comes with breakfast. Not a full and not a continental but "in between" . The wait was fairly long but I'm guessing this was due to staff following COVID restrictions. -All Villas have a view of the beautiful vineyards. -There are not more that 7 Villas so this fact makes your stay that much more special. You are catered to because you are one of only a few staying at one time. This was definitely a stay much different from your typical hotel stay. It was an "experience" that I would highly recommend. We only stayed one night because that's what happens when your on a budget. To save a bit of $$ we did bring our own snacks and non alcoholic drinks. read more
