What Early 1980s Upscale Felt Like Oxford Suites Paso Robles Stay: 9/3/26-9/4/26 There is something wonderfully peculiar about Oxford Suites in Paso Robles. Walking through the entrance feels a little like stepping into 1982, back when "upscale" meant exposed brick, substantial furniture, earth tones and dramatic lounge chairs. Throw in Quarterflash, The Motels, Scandal or Wang Chung and the illusion is nearly complete. Oddly, I mean that as a compliment. There is plenty of parking. EV owners should note there is no free charging, though a few slower paid chargers are available. Check-in was smooth. The entrance feels somewhat dated, but in an oddly elegant way rather than a depressing one. The shared lobby areas are charming, with comfortable couches, oversized chairs, exposed brick and cute little seating nooks that make for fun photos. Upstairs, the time-machine theme continues. The room doors look like oversized old farm doors, sturdy and paneled, as though a polite barn had been promoted to hospitality management. The hallway carpet is muted plaid in brown, gray, green and orange. Walking down the corridor feels like strolling across a gigantic Burberry scarf. It should not work. Somehow, it does. The hotel is also very clean, which matters more to me than whether the decorator last had a spiritual awakening during the Reagan administration. Our room was impressively spacious, with a huge flat-screen TV, comfortable couch, proper work table and plenty of room to spread out. The bathroom was also roomy. Shower pressure was slightly above average, though I would gladly take a little more force. The toilet seat, meanwhile, was wobbly enough to introduce an unexpected maritime theme. If you strain, brace yourself--you may feel like you're riding stormy seas. The bed itself was comfortable for reading and relaxing. Sleeping was a little tougher. Noise was absolutely not the issue; the hotel was remarkably quiet. Instead, the room air somehow felt too stuffy, too cool and too dry, sometimes all at once. Quite an atmospheric achievement. Breakfast is included, and the breakfast room is large, comfortable and never felt crowded. The crowd was pleasantly civilized too--well-behaved children and older adults peacefully eating breakfast rather than staring at everyone who walked in. The food, however, could use help. The scrambled eggs had the unmistakable texture of institutional breakfast mush. There were biscuits, sausage gravy, sausages, waffles, rather uncharming skin-on chopped potatoes, juices and coffee. The oatmeal was decent, and apples were available for those maintaining some relationship with nutritional respectability. The waffle machines are a nice touch. Coffee comes with to-go cups, but there appeared to be a shortage of lids. How does a hotel run short of coffee lids? Are Paso Robles coffee drinkers using ten covers per cup? I investigated no further. There is also a quaint gym, and the overall property has a comfortable, slightly eccentric vibe. Oxford Suites is not slick luxury and does not feel like a sterile modern boutique hotel. It feels more like an older idea of upscale hospitality that has been maintained, updated here and there, and allowed to retain personality. I rather liked that. Overall, this is a solid four-star stay and absolutely a place I would visit again. What is interesting is how close it comes to five. Give the shower a little more pressure. Improve the room air circulation. Cook the breakfast eggs and potatoes with a bit more dignity. Tighten the toilet seat. And, for heaven's sake, acquire enough coffee lids. Make those small adjustments and this could easily become a five-star experience in its category. One final warning: checkout is 11:00 a.m., and 11:00 means 11:00. This is such a cute hotel. I am really glad I came across it to book the girls trip I took. Check in was so easy and they were very helpful. They have a seating area near check in that's super cute and perfect for photos. We booked a 2 queen room. It was perfect. Loved the couch they had in the room. It fit so well with the theme of the hotel. The bathroom was so spacious 2 of us were able to get ready at the same time. The only thing we found odd was that it seemed that the bathroom door wasn't closing all the way which we were okay with it. They have afternoon drinks where guest get a complimentary drink everyday during your stay. We had plans so we didn't partake the days we were there. They also have complimentary breakfast which was really nice. It was so unique, but love that the kitchen was open to the seating area. We primarily went for an event, which the hotel offered complimentary shuttle to go and pickup. It was an amazing perk. Overall, loved the hotel. It was in a good spot near downtown. We did walk a couple of times which was nice. I would come back next time I have a Paso Robles trip. read more

Nice room and nice stay. Bed was very comfortable. The room was clean. Bathroom has a very nice layout, separate room for the toilet, large vanity, separate bathtub, and separate shower. Large bathroom. Ample space to hang up clothes and a few drawers for the smaller items. They offer a breakfast buffet, and as my husband put it, better than the average. They custom make omelets. The food was good. Yogurt or Oatmeal with toppings. A few options for toast (breads and bagels). Fruit was only bananas but that was fine. There is also something each evening (they have a full bar) for drinks and snacks, however, we didn't join in. There is a lot of indoor seating in the dining/bar areas, outdoor seating by the pool, and another area by the firepit. If you are looking for areas to meet up with friends or co-workers, lots of options. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Greeted us anytime we walked past the reception desks. There is a shuttle that can take you into town or the airport (5 mile radius max) but for the wineries you are on our own or call an Uber. Cons: 1. Only one elevator and it's a small one. We often had to wait for several especially when people were check out with a cart! Common complaint with others staying at the hotel. They need at least one more for a place this size, and preferably a larger one. 2. Bathroom lighting is very dim, bring your own lighted mirror if you need light for make-up. There is a smaller portable mirror you can take over to the desk, but still not great lighting. 3. Bathroom lighting is automatic (this is where you are thankful it is dimly lit!) so when you walk into the bathroom in the middle of the night (after lots of wine tasting!), lights go on! I am sure this is for safety but a bit annoying! Overall, we enjoyed our stay (3 nights) and would return along with recommending it to others. read more

Let me begin with I am a fan of this chain. I've stayed at other locations and always had a pleasant stay and this stay was no exception!! What i really appreciated about this particular one they are totally dog friendly. If your dogs will be behaved, they are welcome. They don't discriminate based on dog's weight- as someone who has a giant breed dog this is a huge relief. The staff here are amazing. Very polite very helpful. The facility is clean and feels upscale. It's walkable to downtown but far enough away not to have a lot of noise. Our room was clean and comfortable and quiet although we didn't spend much time there cause we were meeting up with family and it was a quick visit. Overall, we had a good stay at the Oxford. The room was clean, the staff was friendly, and the bar was a nice place to relax. Mike, the bartender, was fantastic and provided excellent service. The complimentary breakfast was decent, though I personally didn't think the $15 upgrade for an omelet and mimosa was worth it. It's about a 15-minute walk to downtown, and the room included a microwave and mini fridge (just note that the bottled water and wine are not complimentary). The one major downside was the EV charging. If you drive an electric vehicle, be aware that the hotel's ChargePoint Level 2 charger costs $0.99/kWh, which is significantly more expensive than most public chargers and even many Tesla Superchargers. It's by far the most I've ever paid to charge my EV. I'd recommend charging elsewhere if possible. read more

The front desk staff was great, the room was clean, and the overall ambiance of the hotel was super cute! 100% Five Stars. The room was comfortable and the bathrooms spacious. I was impressed that there was a sauna and a steam room within a humbly equipped gym. The outdoor pool was heated and a treat for my girls who hip hopped from the pool to the hot tub. On the first round, we walked downtown which is super cute. On the second round, we rode the complimentary shuttle. When we revisit, we will make it to Sensorio; it wasn't in the works this time around. The amenities make up for some small flaws like the lack of room lighting, automatic lighting in the bathrooms, and that the stairwells exit outdoors which isn't so pleasant in a downpour. This is an amazing hotel. Located a close walk from the Paso Square. They opened 2019 and the place looks brand new today five years later. Nice happy hour, one free cocktail, wine or beer. And an appetizer! Rooms are spacious and nicely furnished and decorated. Large bathrooms and nice towels. Rooms are quiet. Lots of food and drink items located between the bar and check in desks. What a great find for us! We were very impressed with Oxford Suites! The hotel is very clean and very well maintained. Rooms are a nice size with a spacious bath with shower and a nice soaking tub. They have an onsite bar- cafe where they have happy hour every night-a free drink and an appetizer. Breakfast, also included in price, is a big spread of options including made to order omelettes. Location is convenient, just a few blocks from the downtown square. And prices is very reasonable. We usually stay at a AirBNB, but now that we discovered Oxford, we will definitely be back here when staying in Paso Robles. read more

I'm a Hilton gal. I booked this hotel because it was close to the downtown area where the bonfires were going on for New Year Eve. I walked inside the hotel and was nicely greeted. Got to my room on the highest floor (per request), and was amazed on the size of suite. There was both a shower and a separate bathtub in the bathroom. They had real glassware for your beverages and a wine quirk opener for your convenience. Will, our bartender was warm and friendly. The food they served looked like it came from a gourmet kitchen. My chicken quesadillas were delicious. I went into the gym to use the restroom while downstairs. I was shocked to see both a steam room and a sauna inside the gym. This is only day one. Can't wait to discover day two. I highly recommend this hotel. read more

First time staying at this hotel . We were driving in from OR, decided to call last minute to see if there was any availability. I spoke with Becca on the phone & she was at the front desk . Very sweet, greeted us with a smile and made check in flawless, we had our Golden doodle with us which is nice when a hotel is dog friendly & only a $39 fee per night ! This hotel offers a complimentary cocktail and few small appetizers, nothing to get full on by any means . Hotel has a restaurant inside , we had the chicken quesadilla which was really good . We sat at the bar , Michael was the bartender , took our food order and even saw him bringing the food out to tables . Michael was awesome , he deserves "10" stars ! He was so nice & happy & talkative. We ended up sitting there for a couple of hours , my husband had some Firestone beers and I have Wine . Both very good , they also have a full bar . There is also a made to order omelet for breakfast and a nice spread of a continental breakfast. We have been coming up to Paso Robles for 20 years now , we have stayed at many hotels and Airbnb, this hotel is about 6 years new , great location , very quiet, excellent staff ! There is even a nice gym inside and a pool but we got in too late to use them. They have a nice water filling station , which we definitely used for the dog and our hydro flasks. Well, don't pay extra for the early check-in cause it isn't guaranteed unfortunately. We paid online for early check in since we'd made reservations for a few wineries but when we called just to make sure we would be guaranteed an early check in, not only were we told no we weren't, but the lady hung up on us. Needless to say when we went to check in we had a few choice words. They were redeemed however with one of the guys up front who was able to calm us down and give us the early check in we paid for. The room is nice...has no closet but comfy. Went down to the bar to use our free drink tickets. They only allow well drinks, beer or house wines, I ended up just paying for a Tito's and tonic. The bartenders were cool and informative about where to eat later in the evening. We enjoyed the swift pickup of the shuttle from the Firestone across the street and we got a kick out of the driver! The free breakfast was nice! There was everything from oatmeal to made to order omelettes. I will most definitely hit this place up to stay the next time I'm on the coast. read more

This is my first time staying here and I booked it through Expedia. We normally stay across the freeway at the Marriott, but decided to give this place a try due t overall positive reviews. For one, they don't charge for parking like the Marriott does. I thought it was pretty tacky for them to charge for daily parking for a hotel of this caliber and since it's not a true Marriott, but a Courtyard. The Oxford is about a 13 minute walk to the town square and a 3-4 minute drive there. They also have a free shuttle that will take you to Downtown and runs until around 10pm. The lobby is nice and the bar/restaurant area is also nicely decorated. While checking in, we were given drink tickets for each night we are staying. The free drinks consists of either wine/beer/well drinks and comes with a daily mini appetizer for each guest. You can choose to either sit at the bar or the tables. A nice place to sit and relax. Too bad they close at 10pm. You also get free breakfast that's served until 10am. What is great about this place is that they make their omelettes to order and there's fresh salsa for it. They hand you a paper and you make your selections with veggies, meats & cheese. You then get a number and they will bring the omelettes to your table. They also had scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, sausage patties and potatoes available. There's the usual coffee, tea and juices. I don't recall seeing any pastries though. I booked a 2 queen room and upon walking in, I noticed how nicely decorated it was. Nice touches and I love the barn doors they use for the toilet area and the bathroom. Our room had a shower and tub. Though the shower isn't very big, it was big enough. I did wish that you can adjust the shower head, but that's no biggie. The room is nice and big. There was no closet, but there is a clothes rack to hang your clothes and a room safe. There's also a mini fridge and microwave available. There was a kettle to warm up your water for tea or coffee that's provided with the room. The TV in the room is not great. It's an RCA branded one and the speakers are pretty bad and does not get very loud. There's a nice sized desk with 2 chairs and a love seat. Though it's not a pull out. Overall, I think I am going to make this my go to hotel whenever I come back here. My one gripe about this place is there's only 1 elevator. There are 5 floors here and it can be very slow during check out/breakfast times. I don't want to even think about having to carry my luggage down 5 floors if the elevator was to ever be non-operational. Next time, I will request for a lower floor or even the first floor just to be on the safe side. Their hot tub/pool area closes at 11pm. read more

There was a great soaking tub we took advantage of, the traditional Oxford suites breakfast, good for people who like eggs and nothing for picky eaters, but if you need something to get you going it works. The lobby is very chic, there are meeting rooms, and the social hour (one drink per person and appetizer) was a great perk. The bar tender was nice and efficient! There is a pool, outdoor seating area with string lights, and ample breakfast seating. There is nothing within short walking distance, so be aware. Be aware, one elevator for the whole hotel! Our experience was a pleasure from start to finish. Staff were super accommodating since we had so many requests as a larger than average party including kids and dogs. Spacious suites, very clean, functional televisions and well stocked bathroom amenities. Beds, and especially pillows, were super plush and comfortable. Complimentary breakfast was a highlight. Made to order omelets, scrambled, and sunny side eggs made for a strong start to our day of tastings and beach adventures. The staff also possessed a wealth of information on local eateries. Absolutely love this hotel. The beds are amazing, the pool is relaxing and the restaurant is a must visit. We did early check in for 20.00 and were in our room by 12:00pm. Our room had 2 queens with a couch, fridge, microwave, a little table a bath tub and shower. The room was quiet and the beds were very comfortable with a pillow top. We sat at the pool for hours, and even enjoyed our complimentary happy hour drinks while watching the kids swim. They also had small bites, jalapeño poppers, during the happy hour. For dinner, we went to the cafe downstairs and ordered the burgers with fries and the Chinese chicken salad and then crawled into bed ( such a great night). In the morning we woke and made the steep coffee that was provided in the room and then went down stairs to the complimentary breakfast. They had oatmeal with toppings, bagels, muffins, cereal, fruit, made to order omelettes, eggs, sausage, potato's and biscuits. Everything was very excellent. All of the staff are very nice! AFFORDABLE GEM "It's my Birthday!" I said excitedly. The front desk manager smiled, "Well then, we just need to make it extra special for you. Let me see what we have." Upgrades in room size and elegance are just a few of my favorite things! He gave us the best room he could. After checking in, we headed to our room to settle down. It had everything one would expect from a vacation: dim lighting, ample space, AC quietly humming at 45 hertz, and beds precisely prepared for relaxation. As we settled down, we heard a knock at the door. We answered it to find an enthusiastic employee rolling in a cart with sparkling wine! With a vibrant smile, he warmly said, "Happy Birthday, Anton!" What a meaningful surprise! This hotel is more than just a place to stay. It's a community, filled with hidden nooks, conference rooms, a pool, and a fitness center. I usually stick to larger hotel brands such as Hilton and Marriott, but I am extremely impressed by Oxford Suites. Extremely clean and tastefully renovated interior. Modern tiling and furnitures - better than the 90% of the hotels l've been to! Staff and service is higher than average. They're friendly, welcoming, and meets your needs. The only negative l'd mention is the elevator - expect elevator delays during season as there's only one. It can definitely get an upgrade, or even adding just one more would alleviate congestion. For those of you with electric cars, this place does have a charging station. This place has a nice upscale feel and provides free breakfast and a drink for happy hour. As many has said, the elevator takes forever! I ended up just taking the stairs because it seemed faster than the elevator. The rooms here are cute and have a good choice in decoration. The room provides a tub separate from the shower. I personally prefer one large shower. The toilet does have a door to separate itself from the sink and shower so others can get ready while still allowing people to use the bathroom. I do not like the toilet and how it flushes. I thought I took pictures but couldn't find them. But the toilet flushes so the water only hits the back of it. So if you go #2 and don't want any left overs, you may have the line the inside toilet with toilet paper or use the public one downstairs. My 1st night the internet didn't work, but 2nd night I received a text from them asking how my stay was and when I informed them my internet wasn't working, they fixed the issue that day. They do have a sauna under construction but it would be nice to use once they finish. They also have a small gym to squeeze in a quick work out. The location is pretty good, being close to down town but I hope they consider making their elevators faster. read more

The hotel seems pretty new and modern, and was super clean from the lobby to our room. The room was one of the biggest I've been, with plenty of seating areas, counter space, and a huge bathroom to boot. One of the best parts of the stay was the free breakfast buffet - with a made-to-order omelet station - and a nightly reception with a free snack and drink. It's a beautiful hotel in a very convenient location, but marred by poor service. I stayed here in December with my pup. This is a very dog-friendly place; I saw at least a dozen different doggies here, ranging from screechy hamster-sized to noble Great Dane, but, as you already know, none were prettier than my Wee Baby Ava. My room had a mini-kitchen complete with stovetop, which I never used. The full-sized fridge was nice, for sometimes in wine country you just want a beer. The room itself was super well maintained, with nary a scuff mark nor former occupant's hair to be found within. I either got a not-usually-dog-friendly room, or they clean really, really well between canines. This was much unlike the next hotel I stayed at; Sideways Inn Buellton, I'm talkin bout you. The furnishings were whimsical without being tacky, and the chairs around the small dining table, if you look closely enough, have a fabric pattern made out of dad jokes. You know what you call a boomerang that doesn't come back? Well, now you do: it's called a stick. And you know what else doesn't come back? A guest who had to deal with: Housekeeping, or lack thereof. I'd asked 3 times for housekeeping on the second day here and didn't get any. There's a $39 per night pet fee which is supposed to include daily housekeeping -- see pic. I confirmed it on check-in, re-requested on my way out in the morning, and returned after dark to find my wet towels and breakfast dishes. The front desk dispatched a non-housekeeping employee to do a rudimentary job. The same exact thing happened the next day. Breakfast: It's complimentary, and sparse after 8AM. One day there were half hour waits for omlettes, no more bagels, no more sausage, and no more juice glasses, which quickly led to no more coffee cups. Day two again featured lengthy waits for anything fresh-made, but at least there was breakfast meat and one bagel, with the daily shortage being forks. Getting around: There is only one elevator for this whole five-story hotel, including service employees. The only stairs lead to the exterior. Budget your time accordingly. Reminding guests to clean up after their dogs: There empty fields on two sides of the hotel, which are heavily mined the closer you get to the hotel. Ewww. Straighten a few things out, Oxford: resolve the housekeeper, cook, conveyance, and utensil shortages, and you might have a repeat customer. read more

Spent one night here on the way through Paso Robles and Oxford Suites exceeded expectations. The location, the quality of the rooms, and the staff - all stellar. We have spent a fair amount of time in Paso and this was our favorite accommodation by far. The location is spectacular - very short walk to all the wonderful restaurants and shops in downtown Paso. The room was spacious as was the shower (great shower). The staff were kind and offered great restaurant recommendations. EV chargers and pet friendly. We did not take advantage of the breakfast or HH drinks, but that is a lovely perk. 10000% would stay again. read more

This was an amazing find! We booked this hotel at random for our first time in Paso Robles and didn't really know what to expect. Our drive took an hour longer than anticipated and we arrived exhausted. When we got there, Catherine welcomed us with such enthusiasm and warmth that she set the tone! She gave us our complimentary drinks (you get one per person per day!) and our breakfast vouchers. Our room was also upgraded without us requesting for it. We went up to our room and it was clean, nice, and well set up. We went downstairs, got our drinks and got ready for dinner. Throughout our stay, the staff reminded us of the FREE SHUTTLE service that the hotel provides its guests!!!!!! The drivers, bar tender, staff were all so wonderful!!!! The breakfast was amazing with a daily omelette option for meat and veggie based diets. The chef makes it for you fresh to order. This hotel is also walking distance from the Pour House (less than a block away) and the Paso Robles brewing location. This place is also so close to downtown's restaurants and hub that it is about a five to 10 minute walk. The WiFi was strong that my work didn't even feel the change in location. We really loved this hotel and will be returning. We already told all our friends about this place. read more

Had an amazing stay at Oxford Suite in Paso Robles. I booked a reservation for 2 nights; when I got there, checked in 2 hrs early but they had a room ready. Filled and signed some paper work and got my room key in less than 5 mins. I had a king suite and when I entered the room, it was cooled 74 degrees and the room was tidy and had a tasteful modern design, which I like. The next morning, I had their complimentary breakfast which was delicious, and the staff/servers/busser all worked hard, keeping the tables clean and checking if I needed anything. Every time, I had to leave the hotel in the morning the staff were always greeting me so kindly, making me feel welcomed, and I appreciate that. I will definitely be booking at Oxford Suites on my next trip. read more

Clean, free parking, central location to South bound 101 but Wifi issues during our stay. Central park/downtown within walking distance, also Walmart/CVS/fast food. Netflix/streaming won't work on iPad, even after forgetting network several times, restarting, troubleshooting, had to use data to get video. Front desk didn't fix the issue during our extended stay, TV has limited content, no house keeping under 3-5 day stay. read more

What an amazing establishment! The fact that they give you a happy hour ticket for each night and breakfast the next morning makes it so pleasant. And one cannot forget to mention the heated pool and hot tub! So nice to jump in the hot tub during the evening after a full day of walking around down town. They even have a shuttle that will drive you to the shops and restaurants downtown so you can enjoy a glass of wine or a beer and get a lift back afterwards. All in all, we were very pleased with our stay, the cleanliness of the rooms, and the staff in every part of the hotel. read more
