Today was my birthday, and I decided to order pizza. I ordered a personal pizza for myself, a half sausage and half cheese pizza. Both very good! Also the mozzarella sticks was the appetizer I ordered. The sauce texture is okay, but not like other pizza places. The sauce had a little too much liquid. Their service was also great! We had delivery for 6:00, and they were on time! This place is really great! I recommend it to all of the Yelpers due to being one of my favorite pizza places I've been to! read more

The decor is not the most inviting. It kind of feels like a VA hospital waiting room - but not in a bad way. The service is hilarious. The young women who we have encountered on our visits here have been sweet and funny and engaging. They are quick to share the specials - which are actual specials. Many restaurants these days offer "specials" which are anything but special. They are just over-priced excuses to empty out the food in the cooler that is near the sell-by date. Here - the all-you-can eat spaghetti is reasonably priced and of the highest quality. All of their specials come in at under $10.00 per person. We're going to work our way through the special of the day calendar. The food is truly wonderful. The aforementioned spaghetti comes with a mammoth meatball or a delicious Italian sausage (or meat sauce) as well as choice of soup/salad and choice of Italian bread/garlic bread. I have been known to kill a mountain of pasta - just to watch it die - so I was ready to do some damage. The helping was so generous - plus the sausage - plus the meatball (my fiancee is vegetarian so I got her meatball) I didn't even need to order a second plate. They have an awesome fried chicken dinner I have picked up on my way home from work more than once and have thoroughly enjoyed. Their pizza is also quite good. I am not a thin crust guy - but their pizza transcends my pizza snobbishness. If there is a god of pizza - he will entice them to deliver to my home and make my (local) pizza search complete. After years and years of being a patron of this business, not only in person but catering, I was appalled to find out they have turned into a fast food sit down restaurant! No waitress...order at counter. Prices have doubled and do not include soup or salad anymore with entree. Handed plastic utensils to eat a hot meal! Food is definitely not as good as years ago! Thats it one star before they sold the place it was a five star. It is sad my husband's family has been going here for a least 30 years . I was in shock the first time i had this. I'm a suburban girl our pizza has almost nothing on it and you pay two times more. Now I'm sad we will never go there again, why dont owner know that when you buy a business keep it the same when you change it you loss the regular customers that paid the old owners bills. My favorite pizza place on the South Side!!! It's a great thin crust with a nice crunchy "handle." Not overpowering on the toppings but you know they're there. About an inch thick with 1/4" dough and 3/4" inch cheese and toppings with the toppings underneath the cheese, cut into the typical Chicago thin crush squares. I love pizza that has I think basil/orageno in it. It was a bit of a miss a couple of the last few times I've had it in late/early 2009/2010. They may have gone on the cheap because of the economy or the Pizza Man wasn't there. However, the very last time I had it (3/2010) the taste was back. Your good side dishes too. Stuffed mushrooms are good and the cheesesticks. I recommend reheating leftover pizza in the oven vice the microwave tho. The oven gives it that original fresh taste, while the microwave kind of gives you a sloppy greasy mess. read more

A friendly dining room with a decent pizza. I will never order a pasta in a pizza place, I expect some mushy bland overcooked noodle with, overcooked salty tomato sauce ladled over the top. So what had happen was.... I ordered via DoorDash and as much as I love that f***ing app the order didn't translate to Villa Rosa correctly. They received the order as two thin crusts when in my reality I ordered one stuffed and one thin crust. When my order was delivered I indeed had two thin crust pizzas. My wife and I came here upon a recommendation by a friend who lives in the area. I almost never head down the South Side. It's like a whole other undiscovered city to this born-and-raised North Sider. We came here after a helicopter ride at Midway, and we were starving. We ordered a Hawaiian pizza (our favorite). While we waited, one thing I noticed is the community-feeling of the place. The small restaurant was probably 2/3 full and everyone knew the waitresses and they all talked to each other even though they came in separately. There was a birthday party going on, and everyone was just so happy and the scene was just lively. Our waitress treated us as though we were longtime customers. It was just a lively atmosphere. When the pizza arrived, it looked so good, and it WAS so good. Similar to pizza I've had up north, but of course every place has their little distinctive flair. I loved that this pizza was COATED in toppings, not just randomly scattered about. I cannot give Villa Rosa 5 stars only because I have to compare this place to one or two places up by me that I find hard to beat. But, this is a place I know for sure I will return to in the future. I really love the thin crust pizza here... Not as good as Beggar's but definitely better than some other better known pizzerias in the area.. I would definitely order Villa Rosa over HRI and Giordano's, as they are mediocre nowadays, in my opinion. Pizza has a good sauce, good crust, not too chewy of a dough, and good amount of toppings. OH and they are a lot cheaper than the aforementioned pizza places. I am giving this place 3 stars because of the dine-in experience.. The dining area is small, dingy, and not very well lit. I was there last summer to eat with my family and we literally sat down, looked over the menu and after about five minutes decided it was way too hot to eat here. The manager Jimmy was rude & messed up my order. I wanted my pizza cut a specific way, and they failed to execute my request. When I called to address this issue, I was yelled at, and the "managers" tone was incredibly unprofessional. I'm paying MY money for want I want! Fulfill my request or don't accept my money. NEVER i repeat NEVER order from Villa Rosa Pizza. I have never been humiliated like I just was over the phone! I order from them every week. The one thing that I felt like eating, because I'm sick, was a salad. A freaking $7 salad with French dressing!! Our order was $50 (ordered XL pizza, fries, lasagna and soda for my family). Well, what a surprise, they forget my salad! So my son calls them as soon as he realized it was missing. He was put on hold for 5 minutes, they hung up ( accidentally, benefit of the doubt) he calls back. They are asking him a million questions at which point I take over after a few minutes hold. The "MANAGER VITO" says that he finds it strange that we didn't get it. Because they packed it. I did get the dressing... it was the wrong dressing and it was in the same bag as the hot items. He kept interrogating me. And I wasn't having it anymore. He was seriously interrogating me over a $7 salad!!! I went in to tell him that we have been loyal customers for over 15 years and we order weekly. Many of you are witnesses to that. So he stops me to ask if there is another phone # that I order from because he's only showing 13 orders from the one #. I go on to give my # and he says ok I see 30 something orders. He goes on to say , so 30+13 equals 15 years of weekly orders?!? I lost my cool at that point. He didn't care to lose a loyal high $$ paying customer. Laryngitis and all, I made it clear that I was insulted, no longer a customer (after I spoke so highly of them) and made I'm aware of what a jerk he is. DO NOT SHOP AT VILLA ROSA.
