I want to start by saying, I was one of Potbelly's original customers and absolutely loved their product when they first started out. The entire organization and product has changed. Why don't they ask the Loyal Customers? Good way to tank a Brand. Change it all, why change your Signature?! Ok, so let's focus on just this visit and the outcome. Nice people, store , relatively clean. Not great but I've seen much worse. Friendly, they are. I ordered the Turkey sandwich- now here is where it got confusing for me. BEFORE you order the protein, white or wheat, that's it. The sandwich was topped with their signature items, heated and served. Now I needed to tell them what I want on it. And then I asked. "Is it even toasted anymore ". They understand me, and said "we are trained often on the changes". Well, how about as a long time Loyal Customer to the Brand we say "no thank you ! We liked the original it worked let's her that Back here please"! It was a pretty good sandwich what they made. I applaud them for working in a hostile environment, which translated "no one wants to work in a place that changes its signature items constantly!" Not in this world and not in the next . I didn't order the milk shake, I was afraid they took away the beautiful butter cookie they use to place on the top of the straw. Also, pretty expensive sandwich. Stop by for a quick order to drop off for my daughter. I hardly had to wait, just a few minutes. Everyone was friendly as usual at this location. I got my daughter a strawberry shake, see picture and a meatball sandwich. No pic of the sandwich she ate too fast but said it was delicious. I eat here quite often and the food is usually good but not sure what happened today. The sandwich's and soup/chili were terrible. They tasted "off", everything had a weird taste and definitely not fresh. Not sure if I'll go back to this location after spending over $60 for garbage! read more

I really love potbelly's, the staff is always very nice and as far as chain sandwiches go, I really enjoy the majority of their sandwiches. Huge fan of the avocado Turkey sandwich. 3 stars because I usually get take out orders and I've had countless times the orders have been slightly messed up. Mistakes happen everywhere, although it seems like I'm always checking my order to ensure everything is as it's supposed to be. For example - forgetting to add cheese to chili, forgetting to add avocado to a sandwich(avo Is a more expensive add on), substitutions to salads that didn't happen, etc. Granted we've called and the staff were quick to make the situation right, just looking for a bit more consistency is all. read more

With all the new sub competition out there (my favorite being Jimmy John's and Jersey Mike's) thought I'd give this joint (an old true favorite) another try. To my surprise they passed the test and I came out with a great lunch. The sandwich, the salad, The voodoo chips and sugar cookie, were all on point. Salad with apples, pecans, cranberry , grapes and chicken, was top notch. I did not give it four stars because customer service was not quite sharp; but there's always room for growth. I love ordering from this Potbelly. They always get my order right and the food is consistently great as expected. It's the only location we order from this often. Whenever I call in to make modifications (pretty much every time) Taylor typically answers. She is the absolute BEST. I cannot give enough positive accolades to her. In fact, the purpose of this review is to highlight her incredible customer service and fabulous work-ethic that I've witnessed first-hand over and over. She's not only super positive, upbeat, and incredibly helpful time after time but her dedication is clear. Not only this, but Taylor remembers me by name. I cannot tell you how much of a difference that makes in overall customer experience. It is so impressive! Note to the high-ups who may read this: Taylor is a top-tier employee. She is the type of person those of us in the corporate world (esp with past service experience) would want managing even our most complex teams. Horrible experience at this location. I got a skinny avo turkey sandwich and a loaded potato soup, what I got was a sandwich with 2 slices of turkey, 2 slices of avocado and 3 slices of cucumber. The soup was watered down, it was basically water with 3 potatoes, not creamy and loaded as it used to be. Their prices went up, quality and quantity went down. I complained to one of the staff, they said that's the correct ammount...I'm livid. She said she can redo the sandwich for me. I asked why would you redo it, just to put the same ammount? I think this used to be an auto shop garage turned into a Potbelly Sandwich shop. It's so cute and clean and nice addition to the Southwest Side - they even kept the overhead doors. I stopped in one Sunday afternoon. I was having a really rough day. The girl who was making my sandwich asked how my weekend was going, I replied with a depressing "Bad day to ask...". She was the same girl who checked me out, and she ended up buying my lunch to cheer me up! What a nice gesture. I will forever be a loyal Potbelly customer at this location, not only for the fabulous fresh food, but also the lovely lady who bought my lunch and really made my day brighter. Now onto the food, their salads are so fresh and delicious -- great dressings. I had the Uptown Salad with cranberries and walnuts and blue cheese crumbles and the non fat vin dressing. Delicious. My favorite and only sandwich I ever order is the chicken and cheddar. A BIG sandwich and a salad is a perfect lunch for two. Their shakes are amazing and creamy and the little signature butter cookies on the straw are a nice (and tasty) touch. I have also had their breakfast sandwiches, and they are by far the best breakfast sandwiches because you get to pick ANY topping (lettuce, mayo, tomato, peppers, ANYTHING!). It can always be different and always fresh and toasty. I was a regular customer who use to always stop by at potbelly's to pick up a wreck and eat it home. In my order I would always change the ham with pepperoni. It's never been an issue until today with Rodrigo. He wanted to charge me extra when I wasn't ordering extra. I was ordering with a substitute. At many different locations and times at this location it has never been an issue until today. Unless this were to change if I decide to try the place out again I won't be going there again.... Was there yesterday, I definitely ordered a sandwich with EVERYTHING NO TOMATOES B/C I'm severely allergic instead I got no hot peppers with tomatoes. I politely asked for a replacement today but this manager said I can't receive a replacement without my receipt EVEN IF I BROUGHT BACK THE SANDWICH and I would have to come in today. I do not keep restaurant receipts and I was out of the way to get there. This could easily be a lawsuit b/c of my allergy but all I wanted was a replacement. I've been coming to this place for years and it honestly is on average a good experience or great. This place never disappoints! The staff is super friendly and nice. My last experience here was superb! My friend just got diagnosed with celiac disease, so she's learning what to eat and where. She wanted a Tuna Sandwich, but was afraid to have the bread. Anyway, she explained her situation to the employee and he not only accommodated her with a salad but, was very attentive. It's the extra mile that gets people noticed, and makes customers want to come back. Although, we couldn't remember the young man's name... We'll be back and will certainly be writing a letter to corporate. Again, this only confirmed what I already knew - it's a great neighborhood joint with superb people working. read more

Well let me start off with I like Potbelly sandwiches. Curiously this location has a sign and the Potbelly stove missing. Yep it used to be there, but now only the lower claw feet remain. Hmmm. Its like 16 foot in the air so I can't imaginr the average alley scrapper helping himself to this, but then again this is Chicago. The sandwiches are really good and they have great shakes. Last time I was here was about a year ago and the sandwich I got was loaded with meat and very delicious so when I was going down Harlem I decided I'd stop in for one. I ordered a turkey avo for myself and a wreck for my dad. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. My sandwich only had enough meat to barely cover the bottom of my sandwich. With one layer thick of thinly sliced turkey only bumped up by the few slices of avocado it was basically like eating toasted bread. My dads wreck sandwich was about the same only they didn't even put turkey on it which is the first ingredient stated that's on there. He had 3 thin slices of meat total on his sandwich. Paid over $20 for two sandwiches and two soups and I was definitely ripped off. Never going here again. read more

5 Big Shiny Stars for being the Best Potbelly EVER! Location...the newly opened est. is currently located in an old service station. I am not talking, 'hey the demo guys came and built this sammy shop where the gas station used to be'...no they gutted the inside and painted the big garage doors. TADA! Now what baffles me is the large erected structure in the parking lot (umm, the large iron/steel thing that was the actual gas pump part hasn't been removed). I am waiting to see if they throw a tarp over it in the summer and classify it as "outdoor seating". Service...in my state of numbing hunger I was attempting to settle up w/the cashier sooner than later and offered to pay for "the meatball over there". The snickering cashier proceeded to ask my guy how much HE was costing these days??!! Totally cheesy & while the staff may have bad senses of humor, at least they are friendly. Food and Service is always great. Nothing to really complain about when it comes to that. The only thing I would have to complain about is the tables. The tables never seem to be clean. Every time I go to sit I find myself looking for a table that's not as dirty from the previous person that ate there. I see more customers cleaning tables than staff. Love the Mediterranean sandwich from here. Kind of a hidden gem this location is and usually overshadowed in my opinion by Portillos/Barnellis which is right across the street. If you're looking for a break from the usual burger, pasta, and hot dogs, this is a good alternative. Especially since the only other place nearby is Pollo Loco & Burger King. The staff is super friendly and nice and the establishment itself looked very clean and cozy. I asked if they had Wi-Fi as I was contemplating making it my new study or telecommute spot and the answer was no. If this changes, I'm willing to bet that they would get more business and traffic than they currently do. read more
