It's been over a half century since I've had Casciani's Pizza. We were both in Cicero then, and when they moved one way, and I another, we lost touch. But my memories of it were strong, snd since I had to run an errand in their neighborhood, I decided to see if it was as good as I remembered. First off, if you're looking for cracker thin crust, keep looking! This is a nice bready dough, soft to the tooth but crisp on the edges. Next, the sauce, cheese and sausage, all wonderfully flavored and balanced, were so copious, my straight-from-the-oven delight slipped apart on the short trip to my car, creating one very messy looking pizza. And even though I had to grab a fork to dig in, the taste was definitely worth it. I've had mixed results revisiting the pizzas of my past, but this one did not disappoint. I probably won't get back out that way very often, but would most certainly order again if I do. Thanks for the memories, Casciani's! read more

I ordered a "deep dish" pizza for delivery. It was highly dissapointing. Charging $30 ($42.50 delivered all in) for a 2 topping medium pizza creates a certain level of expectations and it met none of them. First and foremost I struggle to call what they delivered deep dish. Sure it was not thin cracker crust but it is what most pizza places would call regular crust. Second, they did not allow the pizza to set before putting out for delivery so half the pizza had no cheese as it slid off the pizza. Lastly, half the pizza was as a result was soggy. I appreciate the fact that the pizza was delivered early. However, they could have let the pizza cool enough for the cheese to not slide off. The pizza was hard to eat so it was tough to really judge the flavor. The cheese was ok, the sauce was a bit heavy on the burnt dry herbs. Was it OK, sure, that is why I gave it a second star. Would I have been better off ordering a $10 pizza from a mass market mediocre pie? Yes as well. read more

This is a true South Side of Chicago joint, the food is great and prices still good i don't know anywhere you can still get a huge slice of pizza for under 4! The Italian ice had a million times never get tired ask the flavors it changes every day they will mix flavors for you also! Had so much off the menu it's all amazing! Everyone goes here for the breaded steak sandwich but my favorite is the pork chop sandwich. It is so tender, you're not ripping it apart. We also get the double steak cheeseburger which is delicious. You get your money's worth here. The only thing I ordered that I was like "this is just ok" is a chicken sandwich. It could have been a little more flavorful but that's ok, I added Buffalo sauce to it. The service is always a pleasure. You feel like part of the family when you pick up food. Ok I grew up in Chicago on the breaded steak sandwich dipped in red sauce with generous melty mozzarella cheese from another place which I was perfectly happy with but when I saw the best of Chicago not showing my place but some suburban place I just had to check them out. The place looks small from the outside but it's bigger than it looks so seating should be no problem. I went for lunch on Black Friday and the place was mobbed but the staff is obviously use to this because they pounded out all the orders with a machine like focus and no one seemed overwhelmed. The place obviously has some real history with a following judging by all the autographed photos hanging on the walls and proudly displaying an article about the Chicago bears and the story of Mike Ditka ordering the pizza before winning the super bowl on the best of Chicago show. If your not from the Chicago area than the breaded steak sandwich thing is foreign to most people but it's a tenderized/pounded steak breaded and fried, dipped in red sauce and covered in mozzarella cheese traditionally but you can delete or add peppers, cheese and red sauce. Is it the best bread, red sauce or cut of steak, no it's a great Chicago area sandwich and not a fine steak house. It's served differently from my place which is a big messy rolled mess of a sandwich because it's open faced and can be eaten cleanly with a knife and fork. It's simple Chicago comfort food, good bread topped with thin breaded steak dipped in red sauce and topped generous melty mozzarella cheese. Overall I can see the appeal of this place and why it's been around for so long because it nails the back in the day Chicago area food scene which is not fancy but just great Chicago area food. read more

Me and my family love Casciani's we eat here pretty often they are always consistent! Our faves in no particular order. Pizza,burger,meatball sandwich, Chicken Hermanooch and of course the combo!! Quality is there. Prices went up on beef just like everywhere else due to everything going on but I love this place with all the old bears photos on the wall a must for any bears fans at least to see some of these candid photos of chicago greats and other sports heroes. I always thought they were reasonably priced for the quality you are getting! Some things are off the menu though since Covid started so phone first! read more

The wings were old, dry, unseasoned, overcooked and inedible. I had to throw them out. I called for a refund and informed them of the condition of the food and that I had thrown it out. Their response was they couldn't give me a refund unless I returned the food. They also gave me the run around and told me to contact slice, the delivery app. I asked were they suggesting I get the food from the garbage and Rey it to them. They subliminally suggested that by saying they couldn't refund my money unless they got the food back. I only gave them one star because I had to choose a star to post a comment. read more

You can blink and miss it! Family owned and have been going here for years! We moved out of state for 8 years and glad to see they were still running strong upon return. Burgers and pizza still taste great! I dont know what great Chicago pizza, burgers or beef taste great without grease! Italian ice isnt bad either! Money well spent. I tried their famous breaded steak sandwich. And I feel like they can definitely compete with the joints on the south side. The steak was breaded perfectly and coated with red gravy. Felt that I could of used a little bit more sauce but the amount of mozzarella cheese that they put on compliments then it so saucy breaded steak. Next time I will probably order it without cheese to see how taste, but will have to order it with extra sauce. The portion is pretty big. I could only eat half in one sitting.
