If you grew up around Berwyn or Lyons your body is likely 50% Salernos and 49% Bennys (RIP) and 1 pct RC cola. This location has the traditional Sals toppings, which means a unique thick browned layer of good cheese, a bready crust, thick like your mom's mattress, sassiches that have nothing in common with a Tombstone pellet-laden pizza, and the one flaw: where is the sauce goddamn it to hell??? Like their sauce actually tastes good, they just don't seem to want to give it out to anyone. Nonetheless, it is delicious and different from any other area pizza. Give it a try! You could get the thin crust if you are from out of town, it's still good. We love Salerno's. We tried it on a Monday when they happened to have their half price special on pizza. We got a thin crust with sausage, green pepper, onion and mushroom, and it was delicious. Ready exactly when they said and still hot when we got it home. It also reheats well. My sister said the gluten free crust tasted homemade and not the standard frozen one other places use. I love their thin-crust pizza! The portions were big and generous. The sauce of the pizza is very tasty, the bread they used is new, and the toppings are overloaded. This pizza is always good! I strongly recommend trying their delicious sausage and pepperoni. You will absolutely love how great is the taste of it. All of their employees at this place were really kind and friendly. They will even greet you once you enter the place. Also, assist you while you stay. They really care and they all know how to treat the customer so well. The other thing I love about this place is the atmosphere inside. Very calming, comfortable, and has a great vibe. The smell of the pizza coming from the kitchen is spreading all over the place. Fantastic pizza! Salerno's Pizza of Lyons has everything that we are looking for in a pizza place. I really like how they serve the pizza and the slices of it. Worth trying! DON'T DO IT!! CALL ANY OTHER RESTURANT TO HAVE FOOD DELIVERED. INCOMPETENT STAFF AND THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY AND NOT GIVE YOU A CORRECT CREDIT AMOUNT IN THE COMPUTER WHEN THEY MESS UP YOUR ORDER..I wish there was a way that I can give this place NO STARS. I'm a faithful customer, that basically when I order, I order the same thing every time. When I called this past Saturday I had I had order my usual item, which is a gyro Plate no onions and no tomatoes and EXTRA sauce AND EXTRA SAUCE ON THE SIDE and. I also ordered an additional gyro plate, with NOTHING ON IT ( due to the fact that my son in law can NOT EAT DAIRY PRODUCTS). Now mind you, the gyro plate comes with 2 pitas, 2 containers of gyro sauce and fries. Well, when i got the order... It wasn't what I ordered.. There was NO GYRO PLATES. Instead i had got 2 gyro SANDWICHES. No extra pitas.. No extra sauce on the side as i requested and NO FRIES. Plus..BOTH of the sandwiches had sauce on them and not extra sauce on the side. I immediately called the restaurant to find out what happened and why i didn't get the correct food. The so called manager named Annette..was basically NO HELP.. She had about as much pull as the phone girl.. Wasn't able to help me at all. THEY WOULDN'T EVEN RETURN MY MONEY.. I asked the manager if she could please come get the unwanted food and give me a refund because it was not going to be eaten it couldn't be eaten. And they denied me of a refund. I was in put on hold for 8 minutes. I I hung up and called back right away and asked him why I was on hold for so long, I got the reason from the manager Annette, that it was due to the fact that she was trying to figure out how much to credit my account in the computer. And asked me to hold again. After holding another 8 minutes, I hung up again and called back for the third time. She then told me that she could not do anything for me and that I would have to speak to another woman who is her supervisor, named Dawn and I had to wait till Monday. So I never got all the food I ordered and the one sandwich order for my son-in-law was not even eaten because of his allergies. I waited until Monday and called and spoke to the supervisor name Dawn. What a joke that was after explaining the situation again, and I told her I wanted my account credited since they would not refund my money, for the two-year-old plates that I ordered. She came back with well on your receipt you only ordered one year old plate and one gyro sandwich. I told her that was wrong and I actually order two year old plates, but because the phone girl did not get the order correct I got one of each. She then went on to tell me that she would have to call me back and call the owner oh, now this is going to be the third person that they need to talk to about this order being messed up. I don't understand what is the point of having a manager and a supervisor to talk to your customers if they can't even help you. And the funny thing is when this all happened on Saturday evening, I asked to speak to the owner or to have him call me as soon as possible and they would not have him call me. Long story short I didn't even get the correct amount of credited to my account for the next order. Finally wonder woman named Dawn called me back after she talked to the owner, she stayed at the owner said it's only give me a $15 credit. Which is not right. I asked her how much a year old plate was, and gyro sandwiches together. We all play it was $12 in the sandwich was $6, which would equal $18. So then I asked her why would he only give me 15 dollars instead of 18 dollars? She then went on to tell me, "well that's the only credit I can give you because that's what the owner has told me to give you." I want on and told her that the service here was terrible and how I am in shock that I talk with three different people to get a credit on my account that wasn't even correct amounts. I informed her about how much we order from there and how we are loyal customers and I guess that doesn't matter to them. I also ask them why were they just reimburse me my money, I asked him if they needed it that badly. She stated no.. But as i see it, something is going on, because they couldn't even give me the $3 additional dollars to make it the correct amount for my credit. After getting no Where...i basically told the so called supervisor that this a joke and how i am going to write a yelp review of the terrible service and how i am not able to even get the correct amount of money that i was owed. All they could say was, "Go ahead." They should be ashamed of themselves of how they treat the customers and how it DOESN'T MATTER if they messed up thr order...because the messed the whole order up. I called at 8:40 and was told that they don't make pizza anymore, however they will sell only slices that were left. They were 7 slices left, so I asked for 6 slices. I get there and was asked to pay 39.59 for 6 slices of pizza?? For that amount I can get 2 Xl pizzas (16 slices), but the girl behind the cashier couldn't see my point as she was just worried about ringing It the correct way. I guess they were either hungry for those 6 pieces or they didn't care if they ended up in the trash can. Poorly run business, and very disappointed. Went there today for a slice. First time at this location. Ordered, and I was told it would take a few minutes. A woman said $6.50 so I payed her. Pizza came a few minutes later and a different woman asked for $6.50 again. I told her I payed and she looked at the register and she said "no you didn't". Called here for the first time yesterday for a pick up pizza order. Asked for it well done w/extra cheese. They said 30 minutes, got there about 26 minutes and our pizza was ready. Got home and the pizza was delicious. The pizza had lots of sauce on it which I like and the pepperoni had good flavor, spicy, but not overly spicy. You can also sit down and eat in this store but not a lot of tables there. I think the had a row of 2 or 3 high tops and one low table. We will be back and try some other items. The only knock but not worth knocking off a star is it is a bit expensive. It was 23 dollars and some change, when we order the same size pizza from Benny's in Berwyn for delivery, even with delivery it's under $20.
