I live very close by and want nothing but success for the owner. He has worked hard to get the place opened, despite some of our neighbors trying to keep the doors closed. I have been there twice. On the first day they opened and recently. The first time I was there, I ordered the rib eye steak. When I'm paying a lot of money for a steak, I expect it to be very tender. The steak I got was chewy. The calamari was good. The second time I was there I ordered the beef ravioli. The sauce was bland. I couldn't taste any garlic or onion. The side rolls were dry. I have been to Italy and wouldn't say this is close to what they have there. I want to like it here, because it's super close to my house. I'm hoping as time goes on, they can get a more authentic Italian menu going. The atmosphere deserves it. read more

What a very nice addition to our Sunland neighborhood! There is no comparison to the prior restaurant and that is a very good thing. We were greeted and seated upon arrival and all staff was very attentive and all smiles. The interior (where we sat) was a bit dark and made it difficult to read the menu. There was lovely seating outside as well. The meals we ordered came quickly, hot and very tasty. Grated pepper and Parmesan would have put the salad and pasta over the top. Otherwise we enjoyed our meals and the price was acceptable. Fresh bread and drink refills were abundant. The owner was more than forth coming in regards to anticipated changes happening outside and showed us around, giving us some of the history that is overflowing at this site. I have driven by this restaurant for many years. I think it was closed down for awhile, but was purchased in 2005 and I finally went with my wife this past week. It did not disappoint. We went on a Wednesday night and even though we were the only patrons at 6pm, the staff couldn't have been nicer and more attentive. The interior is quaint and, after ordering, we strolled the outside. I would have liked to have seen water in their little riverbed, but I'm sure the cost isn't worth it. The food was sensational. Even the dinner salad was better than average. Garlic bread, manicotti, seafood pasta, all of it exceptional. Kudos to the staff and owners. I look forward to going again! And you should, too. I went to this place with high hopes, but personally, I think it was just mediocre. The food was just okay. Their garlic bread had an odd texture, almost as it was microwaved. Their eggplant parmesia was quite soggy and bland. I will say that their pasta was really nice and I really liked their chicken parmesan. Also, this place is just beautiful. We had a wonderful experience at Villa Terrazza. The restaurant is a very historic and the owners have done a beautiful job restoring it. The buildings have retained the ambience of the 1930's. We sat on the outdoor patio which had a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The menu had a good variety of dishes at a reasonable price. We had the meat lasagna and the eggplant parmesan, both delicious. The strawberry cheesecake capped off a wonderful dinner. We met the owner George who was very personable. Even our puppy was welcome on the patio, and was given a bowl of water without us even having to ask for it. We will definitely be back!! read more

Building and surround have been there since the 30s, so loads of atmosphere. And the executive chef is from our much beloved Genio's Restaurant of Burbank, which closed back about 10 years ago, and he is doing many of the same dishes. This is a cute Italian restaurant located in Shadow Hills. The food was pretty good but it was a bit overpriced. The interior is outdated...I think they really need to change their carpet. The servers were pleasant and attentive. It was a good one time visit but not so sure if we'll come back for another. read more

I am so happy to see a new restaurant open in that location. It has been empty for so many years. I remember visiting friends years ago and they took us to a restaurant that was open there. I have since moved to Sun Valley and was very happy to see people renovating the property. Last night we went for dinner and I have to say the food was excellent. I had the lasagna and my friend had the beef ravioli. Both were excellent. The only thing missing was a glass of wine! The servers were very attentive and came back to check on us. We tried the NEW Villa Terraza tonight. I have lived in Sunland my whole life and I have always loved this cool and unique property. That being said, it has been through some very unsuccessful versions in the past, so I went in unsure what to expect. VERY pleasantly surprised! The grounds have been cleaned up and improved significantly (beautiful patio area and charming ambience inside and out.) And the food was delicious from start to finish. The garlic cheese bread is unbelievable ... crusty on the edges, soft in the middle, with gooey cheese and a bowl of marinara for dipping. The beef ravioli was hearty and very tasty. The sand dabs were our favorite thing we got tonight - perfectly coated and cooked with a yummy lemon butter sauce with capers. We didn't have room for dessert, but the cheesecakes and tiramisu looked delicious (next time). Our server, Roxana, was delightful and attentive, and the owner, Jorge, came over to greet us and chat. They do not have their liquor license yet, due to some objections from local neighbors, but they will allow you to bring in your own wine or beer with no corkage fee. I ate here a couple nights ago with my family and let me tell you I was thoroughly disappointed. First of all, we got there and they asked us if we wanted a table or a booth the table was ready then but we would have to wait a couple minutes for the booth, we said that was fine and after 5 minutes of waiting another party came in 20 minutes late for their reservation and they told us now we had to sit at the table and took them to the booth even after we had waited since they had reservations. Some lady sang old, lifeless music the entire time we were dining and the decor was hideous. Staff gave us the wrong drinks, wrong salad dressings, and we found a pine needle in one of our dishes!! menu prices are higher in the restaurant than posted on yelp and not as many options. Save your time and money, this place is mismanaged and somebody needs to get Gordon Ramsay in here or this place is going down! read more

Came on a Friday night and sat outside. it was delightfully empty and quiet aside from the sound of the occasional car speeding down Sunland Blvd. Food was filling and hearty. I regret getting the canoli not because it was bad but because it was delectably filling on top of the Chicken Parm and Garlic Cheese Bread. Shadow Hills' Hidden Gem!! This is some of the best Italian cuisine in all of Los Angeles! It even gives Ponte a run for its money. The food was absolutely incredible! Everything was perfectly seasoned, beautiful in presentation and probably the closest in authentic Italian cooking that I've tasted in Los Angeles. I ordered one of the specials that evening and every bite was packed with flavor! You know the chef cares about the dish when the pasta alone has its own taste - not to mention how perfectly cooked, juicy and savory the chicken was. And the tomato sauce was to die for. The dish was perfectly balanced with every ingredient working in tandem without any one item overpowering the other flavors. The service was impeccable with everyone paying attention to make sure that you had a wonderful experience and I loved how all of the staff and management had a friendly, happy and welcoming disposition. The property is gorgeous especially when it's lit up at night with its signature water wheel. And the history of the location itself is incredibly fascinating. The owners should be proud of the incredible unique experience they've created for diners. If you're ever in the mood for excellent Italian food, you DEFINITELY need to give this little gem a visit. We celebrated Father's Day at this restaurant today. It's small inside and very cozy. Looks much bigger from the outside. Very clean. The service was amazing! We were greeted when we walked in by 3 different people, making us feel very welcome. The waitress was the friendliest waitress I have seen in years!!! We ordered drinks which arrived right away and we also ordered garlic cheese bread which came with marinara sauce. Both were to die for!! The bread melted in your mouth it was so fresh and delicious. All of our meals were tasty and you can taste he freshness where it was not frozen. The meat sauce was so flavorful. We also ordered homemade cheesecake and chocolate pie which OMG it was the best ever! I had never had homemade cheesecake before so this was AMAZING!! We will definitely be going back very soon! I was shocked with the service because there is no more "customer service" in this generation. So that is a huge plus for us! I'd give 10 stars if I could!! read more

This place is really a gem! The architectural design, and rustic ambiance is so unique and romantic. We try to dine there at least a couple of times per month. Everything we've had there has been great. The Halibut, and the Seafood Fettuccini are our favorites. We usually bring our own bottle of wine, but they just got approved for their beer and wine license. We are planning a family reunion and look forward to having it at Villa Terraza. Had dinner with My husband, son and the grand kids. What an improvement over the last iteration of this place. It's been through three different ownerships since I've lived out here. I think 3 times must be a charm. The food was fresh and tasty. The portions were not huge but I still left full. The ambience was nice, kind of mid century meets Renaissance nostalgic, with Sinatra crooning in the background. The wait staff was very attentive. The menu offerings are the standard Italian fare sans pizza. Maybe in the future some more complex or modern type dishes will be added? I will say the marinara sauce must've been righteously simmered because it was mild tomato-y goodness. Bad sauce gives me instant heartburn and this did not. So glad to have a little better quality restaurant return to the neighborhood. The only thing that could make it better is if the state would issue their liquor license ASAP. We ordered 2 glasses of wine with 2 kids meals and 2 adult meals with an appetizer and it came out to $120. Not impressed... service was ok and not overly friendly.
