Chicken Guajillo out of this world! I liked it better than the dish I got

Drew was helping us tonight. I had to come back and update my review because they always have something new. Head chef Rachel really knows what she is doing. I keep coming back here and always trying new things! Staff all around is so nice! I just feel like I'm transported else where.

This is a really nice little Brew Pub in Burbank. It's perfect to bring your family, friends, or a yourself after work. The vibe is chill and of course-- very Idyllwild. :) The food here is actually really tasty. I love their menu and everything on it is really darn good. Their chicken wings are one of my favorites too... juicy, sweetened honey glazed with dipping sauce. Perfection. Beer here is of course-- spot on delicious. They also can mix a solid cocktail too. The team who works here is friendly, easy going and accommodating. It's nice to be met by a professional host. The interior is with a traditional bar, side bar seating and plenty of small tables for an intimate setting. In short, it's classy and brings the Idyllwild vibe perfectly. The one caveat is the parking situation. Since there is limited parking, they have a vallet service in front of the building. It's $8 which isn't too bad all things considered. I would be careful about parking around the neighborhood, as they have permits just for residents. If you're desperate though, finding street parking near Toluca Lake is possible and not far at all from the establishment... or Uber in. Overall, this is actually a little gem in Burbank that I think more locals should visit because it's such a treat. Not bad at all Idyllwild Tavern! Tasty!

We stopped in here for a quick bite before our movie and safe to say it's a new favorite! The vibe is so much fun and the food and drinks are incredible! We sat at the bar and the service was so fast and they were so helpful with the menu!

Great burger. The version we had had (Nov 2025): whole grilled onion, swiss, bibb lettuce, special sauce, brioche, and fries or salad (served medium), but we requested medium rare. It was delicious. Super light bun, lots of sauce. This was a knife & fork burger for me, but ymmv! The steak was nicely cooked medium rare as well, with a nice crust, a very slightly spicy romesco sauce, chive cream and fingerling potatoes. It came pre-sliced and was very tender. Caesar salad with fried capers - this was maybe quite salty, but I like salt! Nice croutons with good seasoning. The Chef's Mac is an American cheese blend, so if you're nostalgic for childhood, this may do the trick. We opted for the added bacon which was delicious and generous portioned. The space is nice. It's small but there was more room than we thought. We came really early and had our pick of the space, which has filled up by 6:30pm on a Tuesday with people waiting. Maybe a little pricey, but what isn't any more? There is very little street parking and a valet service, which I don't think I would have wanted to pay on top of dinner. Service was friendly and they checked on us regularly. I'm sure we'll be back!

Wow. The wife and I have been driving past this place for a bit before it opened and just realized recently after not taking that route that it opened. Made a reso, and headed down. The inside look and vibe were beautiful. Late afternoon 'Lupper' as we like to call it. Got seated at our tank and immediately wished we had selected the hi-top table. The windows were open. The music was cool. The lights were dim and let me get you started on the service. Our waiter whose name slipped my mind as I wrote this. (Barry or Garry) but I might be way off. Sorry buddy! He was so kind and the attention he gave us, even though the place was pretty well good with patrons, was 5 star! The Mrs. ordered a beer and I got their NA Kolsch which was great. She got the Mac n Cheese and I got their Idyllwild Burger. Food came out in perfect time as it gave us a chance to take in the spot and admire the vibe and people watch. Loved it! She made me try her dish and the cheese pull just from the one noodle I chose was epic. The flavors were vivid and the bacon bits is a must! The cheeseburger... when I tell you it's in my top 5, I am NOT lying. I enjoyed every bite so much that I wish I had ordered two. The chutney, the buttery, light bun, the perfect medium cook and seasonings to enhance the already good. Man.... I am hooked! The price point looks expensive if it's your first time especially without knowing what you're getting, but trust me. It's worth every penny and actually well priced for the quality and service you'll get. Definitely a new fave spot which we will definitely recommend to everyone we meet.

It is certainly a matter of opinion but I, for one, love a themed business, restaurant, bar, etc. Yes, there is a thin line between charming and overly kitschy/cheesy; but when executed well a 'theme' can result in a memorable experience that often builds a strong patronage. The local Burbank community was abuzz when neighborhood staple Ciao Christina shuttered its doors and word spread that after a complete remodel; the new tenants would be Idyllwild Tavern. So, what is Idyllwild Tavern and is cheesy or is it the exemplary example a theme done well? Most everyone is familiar with the iconic Warner Bros studio lot entrance on Pass Ave heading toward Forest Lawn (and the back lot of Universal) so you will easily find Idyllwild Tavern across the street from WB (again: in the previous Ciao Christina spot) on a corner real estate. Immediately in the peripheral of Idyllwild Tavern, one is transported to Idyllwild, the idealistic pine/camping outpost not far from Palm Springs. But think less cheesy camping log cabin theme and more of a gastropub, trendy hint of elegance tavern with deep mahogany trim, low lighting, gold notes and a menu that elevates typical bar fare making you feel like you are at a mountain resort versus Burbank, California. In fact, the owners of Idyllwild Tavern own Idyllwild Brewpub IN Idyllwild (where they use natural spring water to brew beers on tap!) so the entire concept is not a fever dream but actually brings Idyllwild to the edge of Hollywood. I was instantly in love with Idyllwild Tavern upon setting foot in the establishment with my boyfriend. The vibes are vibing as the kids say and perfectly mesh a relaxed environment to grab a drink with an intimidate date spot perfect for hints of romance. The menu at Idyllwild Tavern features appetizers, entrees, desserts, cocktails, wine and the famous brews from Idyllwild Brewpup. As expected, the cocktails are named after the Southern California camping landscape and I am here for it. My boyfriend and I needed to discuss our upcoming Holiday schedule and decided to enjoy some eats while also imbibing on cocktails and opted to try Pop's Cornbread (whipped butter, paprika, maldon salt, chives - $12), Parmesan Truffle Frites (served with confit garlic aioli and ketchup - $12) and Fried Chicken Wings (pickle brine, house buttermilk ranch, hot honey - $16). For our bevvies, we both chose the Second Nature cocktail (botanist gin, pomegranate, lemon, alpine herbs, egg white - $16). Don't expect gross, greasy bar food at Idyllwild Tavern because they fit the Los Angeles requirement of prime chef, artistically plated food. The Parmesan Truffle Frites are thin, shoestring fries but the plate is stacked high and perfectly crisp on the outside but soft on the inside with fresh parm pieces, herbs and the distinct flavor of truffle for truffle fans (which I am) heavenly paired with the garlic aioli. Pop's Cornbread are dense and mini brick-sized but I found these to be slightly dry and bland - not the best cornbread. The Fried Chicken Wings blew my mind, however. I am Celiac so I can't have wings due to the batter but I couldn't hold back as this was the best coating I have ever seen on chicken in my life. Crinkly, crispy, thick, not greasy... these babies are BEAUTIFUL and should be the model for wings as cooking schools across the nation. The chicken was tender and flavorful: drool-worthy! The Second Nature cocktails boasted a lovely shade of pink-ish orange with a top layer of egg foam. Not overly sweet nor too strong on the alcohol, Second Nature is a light but tasty cocktail. The BEST part of Idyllwild Tavern that adds a memorable charm and sets them apart from competitors? Each table is provided with Idyllwild postcards that you can keep and take home. But even better? You can MAIL THEM FROM THE BAR! Fill out the postcard to your friends, family, yourself (as I did) and the bar will provide postage and mail them out. My postcard arrived immediately a day later so they don't slack on mailing the postcards! This was the coolest and cutest little detail and I am absolutely in love with this idea! Bravo to whomever thought of this on the Idyllwild Tavern team. Small note: valet parking is available but this is a dead-end street so many of the cars get parked on the residential area behind the dead end. I personally know people who live in the area and they have been upset and even bringing it up with the city. I can not personally say much more on the matter as I don't live on the street in question but there is some drama. Despite the valet hiccup; Idyllwild Tavern is a lovely addition to Burbank and eschews corny themes to instead provide a perfect gastropub environment. Plus, the POST CARDS!!! Idyllwild Tavern is a must-try and one that encourages return visits.

Came here for the first time before a work holiday dinner and had the best espresso martini I've ever had! This was a cool take and they did it with star anise. I typically opt for gin instead of vodka. Absolutely amazing. 10 out of 10. No notes. The inside is sexy and cute. The service was great and the bartenders were amazing and know how to make a cocktail. I will definitely be back! Highly recommend this place.

Wow they really make an effort on their cocktails..! Alex made the best Espresso Martini ever..! I couldn't believe how delicious it tasted. Amazing vibe and fantastic chill music Love this bar :)

The burger is a MUST. I'll be returning for more soon!!

My husband and I met in Idyllwild, so I knew exactly where I wanted to celebrate our anniversary: Idyllwild Tavern! I called ahead because they don't take reservations, but I spoke with Rob who went above and beyond to make our night special! From the moment we arrived we were in heaven. The ambience of the space is sexy and makes you feel like you've escaped to the mountains. The service was stunning and everyone treated us amazingly. Both Justin and Paige made sure we had everything we needed! Our experience was truly incredible, but where it really shined was the food. The truffle fries and the miso carrots were truly delicious. We also ordered the branzino and it was cooked perfectly. But the star of the show, was the BURGER!!! Omg. I will dream of that burger! I cannot wait to come back:) thanks to everyone for making our night so special!

Great place to go with coworkers as it's in walking distance to a lot of office buildings. Relaxed atmosphere, open windows for fresh air, fun bar area, delicious food and drinks.

    TAVERN Sticky Wings

WOW, what can I say other than the food was absolutely incredible and packed with flavor! My friends and I were seated very quickly, and the service was both friendly and attentive. We had a few questions about some of the dishes, and our waiter took the time to explain everything to us in detail, which made the experience even better. I ended up ordering the steak and fries, and honestly, it was one of the best steaks I've had. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the herbed tallow butter paired with it perfectly. The finishing salt on top added that extra layer of flavor that truly made this dish stand out as my favorite. The fries were also the perfect side crispy, flavorful, and a great match for the steak. The atmosphere at the tavern at night really tied the whole experience together. The dim, warm lighting and earthy color tones made the place feel cozy and welcoming. It created such a relaxing vibe that it honestly made the food taste even better. One fun little detail I loved was that there are hidden dinosaurs around the restaurant if you're inclined to look around and spot them, which adds a unique and playful touch to the experience. Overall, it was an amazing experience, and I'll definitely be coming back.

The location has plenty of parking and such a great vibe. With all the distillers upstairs and downstairs, the whole place pulls you into the experience the second you walk in. The food is honestly some of the best bar food I've ever had. This is bistro food, not your typical chicken fingers and frozen appetizers. The menu is always changing, which keeps things exciting, and everything feels like it was actually thought through. Service is what makes this place stand out even more. The owners genuinely care about the community. They're constantly popping in, saying hi, checking on guests, and making sure the food is coming out at its best. You can tell they're invested in the experience, not just the business. The ambience is awesome. Great energy, great crowd, and a beer selection that keeps me happy every time. I'm a huge sour beer guy and it's almost impossible to find bars with a solid sour selection, but they always have multiple options on tap, including some they brew themselves. A place that keeps getting better every time I visit.

Service: 5/5 Food: 2/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Drinks: 3/5 Prices: 2/5 My group kept hurling rapid-fire requests at the pair of bartenders and they were on top of everything. They kept the food and drinks coming and frequently checked on us so kudos to them. Only obstacle was asking one of them a bunch of menu questions and food recommendations but he is vegan so had no opinions since most of the menu is meat. On to the food. The best things were the hummus/pita starter, and that's about it. The pretzel was ok but all 3 dips were not mustard based so lame. I ordered a half rack of pork ribs. While cutting them they squirted me which I thought was a good sign, but they had no flavor and basically no sauce. There is a fine line between charred and burnt and they started to cross the line, just tasted like burnt charcoal. I doused them in their original BBQ sauce and it actually made them worse; the sauce just tastes like liquid spice and also had no distinct flavor. Can't ruin fries... wrong! They were overly fried and any potato remnants had been cooked away. The coleslaw was not coleslaw, it was just chopped up purple cabbage, totally inedible. Some other food reviews from my coworkers. Fish and chips: dry Fried pickles: where are the pickles Miso cod: not good Bacon burger: also not good Chicken wings: you guessed it I also got one of 3 sour beer options, The Who Likes Orange Soda, which magically tasted like half sour beer half orange soda. It was ok but towards the end I just wished I had gotten a sour beer instead of an orange soda. Considering how poor the food quality is, I'd say the menu is wildly overpriced. The place has a chill vibe, so it's not a bad option to have a beer and watch some sports on TV, but I would highly advise eating before going so you are full and don't make the mistake of ordering food.

I ordered at the bar like always, and the bartender took my order and then walked towards the kitchen. Now I know they usually give you your drink right then and there, but they were busy and I assumed he was going to take care of something else first, which is completely fine! What I didn't expect was this other bartender, who was on the complete other side of the bar and didn't communicate me with at all, was actually filling my drink. I didn't realize that, because he didn't tell me, so I turned to walk back to my table. This rude bartender thought I was abandoning my drink or something, and used his big boy voice to yell "YOUR DRINK!" so loudly that everyone at the bar stopped to stare at me, and some were laughing. Now I didn't know that intentionally embarrassing your patrons is how you guys do business, but ok, whatever makes you feel important I guess... The original bartender who took my order came by and checked and on our table later in the night, and he asked us something that neither my friend or I could hear, so I said "I'm sorry, what?" and he rolled his eyes and walked away. Alternatively, a few months ago, my husband and his friend came here and they received the complete opposite treatment - free drinks, conversations with the bartenders, and were welcomed. I never come into a restaurant/bar, especially a small business, expecting anything for free, that isn't my point at all. I do however expect basic manners and respect. Based on our very different experiences recently, there does seem to be a hint of misogyny going on here. This place used to be cool and friendly, and food has always been great, but the men who work here completely ruin it. It's really disappointing.

It's a smallish-space (with outdoor and indoor patio areas as well), but even on a packed weekend - we accidentally stopped by the day of a chili cook-off - there's always a spot to sit, and service is always prompt and stellar. They have coolers of canned and bottled beers, seltzers, and ciders available to drink there or purchase to take home. The corkage fee for consuming in-house is waived on Tuesdays. They don't have a food menu, but they have a line-up of food trucks each week that are properly advertised on their website and Instagram. It's 21+, which is appreciated since breweries seem to be a popular choice for families now. I must comment on the absurdity of some of the low-star reviews for Hop Merchants, notably the disgruntled father who lamented the child-free policy, "You'll have to take the family somewhere else". Why would you want to take a family to an establishment that exclusively sells alcohol? Not every place has to be for you! It'd be like me whinging that I can't take my 98-year-old granny to Chuck E. Cheese because it's too loud for her and her feeble little hands can't shoot skee-ball for shit. How ridiculous and entitled would that sound? Great place for an after-work beer or nightcap on a date night, and the spot to find an unusual, high-quality brand as a gift for a beer aficionado.
