This tiny old school family place is really taking a hit here on Yelp, but I have to compliment their Trenton-style thin-crust brick oven pizza. Villa Vito is nothing fancy but right in the center of town next to the canal, with an Irish bar below it and lots of beckoning signs outside, not sure if it is the same family or not. What caught our attention was the tomato pie advertised, though it wasn't actually on the menu once we sat down (in a darkened warren that was the small dining room, with the bathroom upstairs). Another thing that caught our attention was that they were open on a Xmas Eve during the day, when our mostly-plant-eating group was starving and left disappointed by the menu at Triumph since they have taken all the vegan stuff off of it. The menu is mostly pizza and sandwiches, but the small pie is only $10 and can feed two. But the owner bumped into the server, who dropped some of our pie, so they made us another. And we ate it all! Well, not the stuff from the floor. :-) It is great with spinach on top, but there are tons of other toppings. Remind them to avoid the few shakes of parmesan that often come on a tomato pie. We walked in and stood there for at least a minute before our waitress, who was doing double duty as hostess and busperson on a Friday night, emerged and seated us. Our first clue should have been how empty it was on a Friday night during the summer, when all the other restaurants are packed, but I just assumed everyone else was outside on the patio. From that point on, though, the service was actually fine - our waitress was attentive and the food came out at a nice pace. The food on the other hand...We started with fried calamari. It was tender at least but the breading had zero flavor and was not at all crispy. The dipping sauce was unremarkable. Next came a plate of salad and two dishes. While barely large enough for one, this salad was, I guess, designed to be split "family style", though there was no serving utensil with it. It was iceberg with some carrots, a slice of tomato and some radishes. The dressing was actually delightful - a simple oil and red wine vinegar with a lot of oregano - reminded me of my great-grandmother's salad dressing. Entrees were disappointing. My boyfriend's chicken parm seriously looked as if one of the cutlets that was supposed to have been on the plate fell off and they brought it to the table anyway. It's a good thing he wasn't terribly hungry. His first bite of the chicken was tender, but the piece I had was so tough as to be inedible. It was clearly not pounded evenly and the edge, which I had, was horribly overcooked - I spit it out. My chicken marsala over penne was not much better. The chicken started out OK but by the end it had a rubbery texture, so I left half of it and just ate the pasta and mushrooms. The sauce was thin and so lacking in flavor i had to add salt to my dish - I hardly ever do that but I was desperate for something, anything to give it flavor. I had the Chicken Marsala special..(It was Memorial day weekend), it had started raining in new Hope and they became busy, clearly something they were not use to (being busy) panic sat in in the place. I am only giving this place one star because the app. Won't let me give it a zero or lower. Lower being negative numbers. My wife and I stood in line to be seated for five minutes behind another couple who had been standing there for ten minutes. Finally, the husband cursed and said that ten minutes was long enough. We should have done the same. However, I went to the bar and asked staff if we could sit down. A server told me that we could sit anywhere. We sat down and about ten minutes later the same person took our order. The menu was more like a guide than a definitive example of what they actually had. After we ordered our food, our alcoholic beverages came out pretty quick. The check came shortly after that. But, no food. We waited about thirty minutes more for the food. It never came. When my wife starts yelling at people, asking when we were getting our food (and some water that never came either) I knew it was time to cut bait. I went to the bar and asked to pay for our drinks. The bartender looked at me and said, "Oh, you ordered all this food and your just going to leave! I guess I'll have to eat it.!" I would have loved to eat it but it never came. read more

The pesto was pretty good, The vito special pizza with all the toppings is terrible and deserves to be taken off the menu. The toppings on the pizza were not cooked appropriately and the waiter brought the remaining toppings on a separate plate which the chef left off the place, This is a good place for little kids but a bad place or great Italian food. With all of the great places in New Hope- don't bother with this one! I am still not convinced that there wasn't a hidden camera somewhere. There is noooo wayyyy a place could suck this bad. We had to catch a 5pm train 2mins away on the New Hope railroad. With well over an hour we decided to have a drink & bite to eat before we departed. I would love to tell you about the food but can't because we were never able to eat anything but a quick salad & my kids shoved some garlic bread down their throat as we stood trying to pay & get the hell outta there! BTW- the ordering circumstances were SO ridiculous I won't even try to explain... still in disbelief! Everyone working there seemed confused, angry & pissed off if they had to do anything. & I mean anything! Like take an order or give us the check!! I guess things happen for a reason because seeing the kitchen area- I don't think eating here would have been wise. Yuck! We have never given less than a 20% tip - here we gave 15 & that was being extremely generous. The only saving grace was the cute outdoor patio area where we sat & relaxed from a busy day. My husband and I stopped in here this past weekend (9/12/2020) for a drink and a quick app. Seating in the out door court yard was well spaced out, the waiters had masks but some kitchen staff bringing out food to tables did not. They had a one man band that wasn't half bad. I ordered the Vodka Lemonade and wings well done and my husband got a beer and Cesar salad. I saw our waiter (an elderly gentleman) underline wings well done three times, so what happened later turned out to be somewhat of a surprise. He brought me what looked like a glass of water that turned out to be a glass of Vodka and water. I tried to get his attention and finally went to the bar myself to rectify the situation. There was no bartender, looks like the waiters and waitresses where pouring the drinks. A waitress gave me a slight attitude when I tried to explain what happened, asking me "What is it you want Lemonade"? I said" No, vodka/lemonade", to which she said, "Well that's not vodka/lemonade" and I thought, well No Sh__. Back to the table, where we sat for about 15 minutes more watching the ladies to the left of us return their vodka and water and the folks to the right of us leave after no one came to their table to take their order. Finally, the waiter shuffles over with the salad and puts it in front of me, I said, "Oh that's not mine it his", to which he replied, "Greens are for mowing not eating". So 15 or 20 minutes later (30 to 40 minutes after arrival) my husband is long done his salad, beer and I my drink, the waiter finally arrives with my pizza, that I didn't order. I told him I ordered wings not pizza, and if they are not sitting back there in the kitchen ready to come out right now, cancel the order and bring us the check. To which he replied, "Had enough have ya?" About 3 minutes later (just as we were getting up to find him) here he comes with a plate full of "not well done" wings and one napkin. I ate about 3 and then my husband had to go to the bar to get more napkins, after which we had had enough and we paid him cash and left. I should have taken the pizza it looked a hell of a lot better than the somebody else's soggy wings that I got. Poor experience. $45 I'm not getting back Calamari app was passable, asparagus and bleu cheese salad was dinky for $6 but interesting. From there it went downhill fast. Like other commenters, service was sorry, our server would disappear for streches. When we did catch a glimpse, she was being berated by the owner(?) who did little more than harrass his employees. Wait staff seemed to have no direction whatsoever. Caesar salads (shrimp and chicken) were flat out horrible. Dressing tasted like they look a 1/2 empty jug of Sysco and added water to stretch in out. Flat out bland and tasteless. When our water ran out, we were refilled with what tasted like lukewarm dishwater. Server let us sit for 15 min before coming to get the check. We ordered half pepperoni half plain pizza that was flavorless, 1 beer that was warm, the chicken wings were cooked before the oil got a chance to heat up so they were not crispy, the mozzerela fries were under cooked however mussels were good. My daughter and I stopped here at the upstairs Itialian restaurant, Villa Vito, after shopping in New Hope. The pasta was very good, the veal tender, the garlic toast pungent, the portions ample, the service attentive and the price point was fantastic. The ambience is homey and tight inside, I have not dined on the patio. Villa Vito will never be confused with restaurants like Marsha Brown's around the corner, nor should it. We had a complete meal for two, including drinks, for the price of an appetizer at those other New Hope eateries. I like fine dining as much as the next guy, but when a place like Villa Vito offers such a fine value for the meal, I am disappointed when other reviews are so harsh. read more

I have waited for four months before making this review, but I think it's time I actually do this. So, I worked at Villa Vito. Yes, I was a new staff member once. I quit after three days. Here's why: Day one: I go in and got hired immediately, no questions asked. I worked for a bit that day to get a good feeling of the place, and was told I would be paid for my time there that day. During my time there, I had to re-stock things and clean up here and there. I had an almost heart attack seeing how moldy some of the bottles in the fridge were. Also, to address why the water tastes so bad: they use the water from the sink faucet as drinking water, not the water from the soda fountain machines. So, that's day one. Day two: I clocked in on time, and I started my day. Teresa and the manager yelled at each other constantly. I was told multiple things from them that contradicted one another, and it was beyond confusing who to believe. I was immediately pulled from the bar and told to stand outside and hand out flyers for the restaurant. It was 95 degrees outside, and I was barely allowed back in. HOWEVER, I was finally able to make some drinks that day, so that should be good, right? Well, no, not really. I had to make two margaritas. Now, I know how to make margaritas, I was trained on how to make drinks prior to this. I have never seen someone mess up a margarita this badly. Here is a proper recipe: 3/4 oz. tequila 1/4 oz. triple sec. 3/4 oz. lime top off with sour garnish glass with salt or sugar, and a lime wedge. This is their recipe: 2 oz. (roughly) tequila 1 oz. of lime top it off with triple sec. Yes. Top it off with a bitter orange liquor. Serve with two rubbery limes physically stuck into the drink. I WISH I WAS MAKING THIS UP. I had to serve two women these drinks fully knowing that there was ONLY alcohol in this beverage. Next, I had to learn how to make frozen drinks. They never washed the blender in between drinks, just kinda washed it out with faucet water and then used it again (no soap, no sanitizer, just water). Now, I felt that this was a bad job by now, but thought to myself 'no no, it's fine. I do need this experience. After a few months, I'll try to find a different job'. But then, the main waitress came in and told the manager "You know you're a piece of shit, you know that?" And threw a piece of watermelon at him. It missed him and hit me in the leg. No one cleaned it up. My new thought? 'Okay, yeah, I need to quit'. I went to head home after my shift ended, deciding I'd quit tomorrow. I told the manager that it was time for me to head out, and he was actually mad I was leaving at the end of my shift: -"What?! You're leaving now? Why?!" -"Well sir, I'm sorry but, I told you that I have prior engagements an hour from now and that I need my shift to end at this time. It's okay if you forgot! I can understand when things slip your mind" He sat at the table closest to the TV, with a drink in his hand and flipping through the channels. He didn't even look at me: -"...How about you stay till 5". -"Sir, I can't. I have a prior engagement that I need to leave for". -"Fine.go on then". And so I left to come back in the next day. Day 3: I clock in, and I prepare myself for my last shift. I was told to, once again, go outside and hand flyers. However, now I have to walk to the end of the block and hand them out at the intersection. I did this for about an hour or two, and it was almost 100 degrees outside. I came back in sweating and was told immediately to serve the food and drinks to tables. I had to do delivery, serving, bus tables, and I never made another drink for any customer. I was told to try some of the dessert they give their customers. It was, by far, the worst dessert ever. It tasted like plastic chocolate that was melted over stale pound cake (it was some type of layered pudding/cake dessert). After about 5 of my 6 hour shift that day, I started feeling light-headed, dizzy, and way too hot. I knew that, if I stayed longer than I needed to, I would faint. So, when my shift ended, I went up to the manager and told him I was heading home. And, wouldn't ya know it, the same thing happened! -"Why are you leaving now?! Stay till 6!" -"Sir, I'm sorry, but I just can't. I feel very sick and my shift is over". -"It's fine, just stay till 6. Sit down and drink some water". -"Sir, I feel like I'm going to faint". The cook, literally the nicest person there, immediately told me it was fine to go home! The manager kept interrupting me when I was about to say that I got offered a better job, and only let me talk when Teresa told him to stop acting like an ass. I left and never went back. I got horrendous food poisoning shortly after I got home from that dessert I tried. Now, the reason I waited for 4 months: I only got paid for 6 of my 12 hours. I'm still waiting on the other half of my paycheck. My dad and I have called 10+ times now. I've run out of patience. At least the fries are good. read more

Stopped for lunch on the patio. Not crowded at all. 3 servers. Extremely slow. Never asked how we wanted our burger cooked. Never put cheese on my sandwich although I asked and she confirmed TWICE. Never asked if we wanted refills on our drinks. Had to ask 3 times for salt, pepper and pickles. Walking through the dining room (only one table occupied) another party yelled to our waitress because they had been waiting forever for sweet and low. Dirty bathrooms. Before we left another table came over to borrow our S&P because they couldn't get the waitresses attention. One whole table of about 8 got up and left because they were tired of waiting. The patio is very relaxing and that's all it is until you start working with the business. It was a rollercoaster ride. Some food came quick , some never came at all. Some food they were out of and didn't know until we asked why it didn't come. The servers were nice people but after all the food and drinks came it took us an additional 20 minutes to just get a check and there was only 4 tables on the patio total with us. A mentally draining experience and then they billed us wrong for a bonus. This place is a mess and we will never return. read more

I worked there for one shift and never went back. The conditions in the kitchen are horrifying - food is old, plates assembled with bare hands, and everything washed in the same dirty sink water. The staff is rude and when a customer was given the incorrect drink the waitress put her hand in her drink before serving it to her. Anyone who enjoys this restaurant has no conception of food as nothing is fresh and instead every item is froze and reheated. She barely looked up from talking to her friends to serve us. I instantly got turned off by how the main waitress (older woman) aggressively wanted is to order immediately. Then she brought a pitcher of water that was filthy. The poppers came out frozen. What can I say. These people are nuts, they got my order super mixed up. Absolutely the worst place I have ever encountered. I order the grilled chicken sandwich, took one bite and so thankful that was it. I tried to discuss with the waitress that the chicken tastes frozen and old and honestly was just gross. She proceeded to tell me that the chicken was fresh and she had eaten it. I asked if the chef/owner had and she brought him out. Rude rude and rude. He argued with me that his food was good. Seriously the worst food, customer service, and overall experience. Walking into and almost empty restaurant on a Saturday night is never a good sign. We were pleasantly surprised by both the attentive service and delicious food. The rice ball special was full of flavor and stuffed with spinach and mozzarella. The vodka sauce was bright and had just the right amount garlic. There is clearly a lot of sibling or family rivalry and bickering among the owners which is often in front of guests. They treat their staff poorly and I bet have a high turnover with waitstaff and bartenders. If the food was good I would probably at least consider a return for that but I can get better food at wawa. They should just sell the place before they go under! read more

One of the worst restaurants I have even been too. The mix drinks are water down, and the service is horrible.
