We tried this restaurant for lunch while on a bike ride along the adjacent canal. The outside garden looked cool and appealing. Perhaps we were discovering a hidden treasure? No such luck! I'll cut to the chase. The meal was mediocre. Their "exotic omlette" had fluid running out it, filling the plate and leaving the omlette submerged. The cup of soup was simply pasta laying in some tomato water. The chicken Parma sandwich was all bread. The ice tea tasted like it didn't ever go near a tea bag.. It took forever to get our check and the server overcharged us for the meal and had calculated the tax at 10% ( I suppose it was an easier calculation than the correct tax of 6%.). No apology from the server, I might add. Even worse, the historic train is several hundred yards away and all we heard was ongoing train whistles and the smell of the train drifted over from time to time making the eating area smell like WD40. The waitress was sweet, but the restaurant doesn't deserve even 1 star. Someone needs to nominate them for Kitchen Nightmares! We wish we would have read the reviews first. Everything was wrong.. the kids pasta had to be sent back to be "microwaved", there was an onion in the water glass, the pizza has to go back because it had the wrong ingredients, the motz sticks were still frozen and the final disaster was the ROCK hard meatballs! They too most likely were brought from freezer temperature to refrigerator status; which is by no means acceptable, and therefore was removed from our check. Please stay away read more

Not too shabby. Waitress was curt -- in a delightfully diner-esque way -- and even had my back when my niece didn't want to eat lunch. I really should have had the ravioli, considering the many varieties on the menu and the fact it seemed to be a house specialty, but the niblings and I settled on the fried variety, which I rarely see and so order whenever I find them. Pizza was perfectly thin, but the fries were obviously generic frozen and the ranch sauce had an unfortunate aftertaste. Amazing. I went with two bred to the bone italian home cooks (one of which i have lived with for ten delicious years) and this place passed the Ma test. Everything was just awesome. the red sauce was declared good, the bread was warm, the pasta was perfectly cooked (my 2-yo son slurped up two platefuls of aioli spaghetti), the mushroom pizza was a bit chewy and cheesy but utterly delicious, we had a long conversation over what the mushrooms had been cooked with, came up with garlic, thyme and pepper. I had a Caesar with grilled chicken that was astounding. the dressing was fresh, homemade and just right, the chicken was grilled perfectly, juicy and lightly herbed. normally, we judge Italian resturants by what you usually get at home, and few measure up. This joint hit the measure, for sure: all the pasta cooked to order, the entrees just great, the place was friendly and delicious (my son still reeks of garlic), and i'll go back if i'm even within shouting distance. OH LORD this place is a mess. I wish I could give a big fat ZERO to this place. Heres my story: Friday night, sat down thinking this place was a IRISH place (NOT) it was Italian, ok no problem I like Italian. Ordered calamari (just Ok) needed more red sauce on the side- cant find waitress to get any-- manger is just scolding the waitress on her every move the entire time we were there. - we get two ceaser salads one with Chicken one with Shimp , they claim its the best in New Hope well NEWSFLASH it was the worst dressing I have ever tasted. I think they took some mayo-garlic and a whole lot of parm cheese -water and blended it. YUCK HORRIBLE ~ Also ordered a salad that was Asparagus, blue cheese, onions, and tomatos... well it was ok more like a picking platter and not a salad. Not worth a penny over $4 bucks. Finally when we could pri the waitress away from the Manager/Owner from being reperhended I asked for a glass of water, HOLY COW she brought me back a glass with no ice that was warm and taste like dish water. I could not beleive this place. Save your money and walk a little further to the resturants on the main strip your bound to get a better meal there. On a recent trip to New Hope we wanted to check out some new spots. We heard they had outdoor seating. It was a beautifu fall day so we headed there. The place is spacious and has so much potential. But it's grimy, dirty, and unpleasant. The server was friendly, but while I was there I saw her smoking and eating. Thankfuly we were only having drinks. We had three domestic beers and our tab was 14.50. Didn't think it was worth the price. We will not be going back. read more

We went here for a bachelorette party. we called a month ahead to pick out a family style meal and reserve a table for 20. my friends sister in law knew the owner so they were gonna hook us up with apps and dessert. It was such a busy night in new hope that the resturant had to ask friends/fam to help out. i tried to keep that in mind. but the person we spoke to the whole time we planned the event wasnt there that night and we didnt get the exact food we had planned. some was the same, not all. the service was pretty bad. they served us food before bringing us plates. then they brought us little plates for the main meal and we made them switch for bigger ones. then we waited for 30 min 4 the check. and we didnt get the dessert we were told we would. the food was good - nothing special. they did reserve us two parking spots which was nice. but i wont be going back. read more

Actually stopped into the little Irish Pub downstairs. The space is small and they don't have a huge selection of liquors. The bartender was friendly and helpful though. The bathrooms are upstairs and very small though. Prices are average. Fine for a quick drink but def won't be my ideal destination. read more

I only tried this place because I had a certificate for it and was taking a first day trip to New Hope. First of all, they didn't accept the restaurant.com certificate because it was a weekend. Next the draft beers were $7.50 each, nothing special. The meals were small and were nothing special at all for the prices. I can go to a great italian restaurant for the same prices and get triple the portion size. I would never go back to this place or to the town of New Hope. I also noticed their desserts were store bought and they charged 4.50 for a slice of cheesecake, which they probably paid twice that for the whole cake. We've walked by the places on Bridge street numerous times and due to my son having to use the rest room, I walked in here. We were seated and handed menus and wow. From the jump, I was scared. If your menu fills every inch of the oversized sheet and has such a varied offering, you're probably going to have a bad time. When we sat down, I should have known and taken a walk. I figured it was worth giving the place a shot. We all stuck with safe orders, the kids getting pizza and grilled cheese and my wife and I going with sandwiches of chicken parm and a chees steak. Of the four dishes, my son's was the only miss. Grilled cheese shouldn't consist of cheese on two slices of toast. The wait staff was seemingly clueless about most of the menu and availability. My son ended up not eating most of the sandwich and got sick before we left the restaurant. I wouldn't go back here again. The entire time we sat there, I was waiting for Robert Irvine to come out and start ripping people apart. Lesson learned. read more

My Husband and I have been to many restaurants, this one was the worse. Burger meat looked like dog meat and tasted horrible. Food was cold, my side never came. my husband's fries were cold. Waitress was clueless. She didn't even know what soups they had. place was dirty. The other waitress brought the ketchup and just landed it on our table. Cap was disgustingly dirty. I went here for lunch with my boyfriend. It was surprisingly good. There was only one waiter in the place and he was nice and quick. I ordered a chicken parm sandwich was was good. I'm a new fan, having been curious about this place for a long time. My date and I stopped in and it was just about everything I hoped for. Great, cozy, family-run atmosphere, not crowded but evidently popular as they had reserved tables for two big parties; personable service; and enjoyable, basic Italian-American food including a great cannoli for dessert. Probably not a place for foodie snobs, but many of us aren't that. This isn't tourist New Hope like around South Main Street. My guess is this place is popular with locals. Yummy! This spot fit the bill for a quick pizza lunch. The Florence pizza was great and we added mushrooms and tomatoes and all the toppings were fresh plentiful. The crust was just right - crispy and chewy in all the right places. The Caesar salad dressing was homemade and romaine very fresh. This is a quaint, family-run place and we'll definitely be back. The only drawback is that it's tucked away and a little hard to tell its open. Make this where you start your afternoon of shopping. read more

Aside from our waitress being extremely high, they brought my mom a salad that she told me someone ordered earlier and had the wrong dressing, so it "worked out". She couldn't get our order situated.. all of our food eventually came out my sisters sand which had molded cheese, my chicken Caesar salad had chicken that was boiled, tasted like the food my grandmother used to make for her dogs, my husband got a meatball parm sandwich that tasted like the food I gave my dogs, Canned alpo, my stepdad ordered a chicken parm sandwich that smelled of chloroform. Surprised by the reviews. This place has a wonderful ambiance. Very old school Italian. Comfortable and homey. The staff is very friendly. We had the ham and cabbage soup which I loved. I've been coming here for 2+ years and agree that the Irish pub downstairs is one of the best little secrets in new hope. The bartender is amazing and extremely knowledgeable on picking just the right shot selection for you. Staff was pleasant, courteous, and friendly! The last 4 times I've been here there has been live music, all which have been good. If your looking for a great chill atmosphere with a great bartender and good music, come downstairs to the IRISH PUB. I am disappointed to see everyone's bad remarks about this place. We went to New Hope for the first time and went down to the Irish Pub in the basement for 3-4hours of the most fun we could have asked for in the middle of the day. The owner was extremely friendly, allowed us to listen to the music on the jukebox loudly, and basically gave us free range to dance and have a wonderful time. We originally expected to go to town and shop but time slipped away with all the fun we had. I would highly recommend this place, it is obvious the owner cares for his customers. My husband and I have been going to Villa Vito's for 30 years. My husbands Italian mom loves the homemade food,. I read some reviews and think the people went to the wrong place. Yes, sometimes the food takes longer then a chain restaurant , since the food is not processed and made fresh to order. Their clams in while sauce is a favorite. We were there last night with a friend and got their white spinach pie with ricotta cheese. My friend agreed it was the best pizza she has had. We have had 2 of our kids big parties there, a 21st bday in bar area, and sweet 16 in court yard. We know when we go to Villa Vito's we are in for a good fresh made Italian meal. read more

Where do begin.... I guess I'll start by saying, this is my first review I've ever written on anything ever, but I'm compelled to not have any other hard working family out for dinner be stolen from. Yes stolen...like money stolen. I'll get to that. First we walk in though cute back patio, empty? On a warm may Saturday night ? And hopefully one if there's as well... we walk in (a young family of 4) and a greeted with a lovely elderly woman who immediately directs us towards the restrooms? Odd? We just wanted to sit and eat dinner... after pleasantries, we were pointed to the patio for a seat yourself type experience. After table hopping a few times( some broke, some rusted, some cover in bird shut, some broken umbrellas ) were were graciously tossed a pair of menus ( there's 4 of us) and told she'd be back momentarily. I guess momentarily means something I was unaware of, because 20 minutes later, our "waitress" reappeared . Upon ordering salads to start we were informed that house was the only type of dressing the offered. Ok. Whatever, house it is then! Orders placed, off to the races right? Not quite... slowdown.... 10 minutes later my daughters soda gets delivered , and where better to keep a straw for you customers? Your mouth... duh... I was so happy something was coming out, I shrugged it off to it was wrapped in paper and what harm could there be... we'll act 2 starts a similar way, but this time it's a basket of bread delivered ala armpit... almond with our two pathetic "tossed salads" which were told were "on the house" and that we just got saved 6 bucks!!! Hot dog! Things are lookin up! Oh wait no..... their not... our pitcher of water is also finally brought out along with our 2 gin and tonics. Nice refreshing like warm tap water out of the finest 20 year old plastic cups.... Ahhh like a fall day.... abruptly a larger version of a toss salad is served to us, this item was not ordered, we kind of assumed that maybe they gave us another salad for the long wait times or something... ok. Cool. My youngest daughters burger comes out and my wife's pork dish. Both delivered with thumbs in it and by a delightful gentleman who I can only assume is one of the owners, or that maybe he just came in one day and never remembered to leave so they gave him a dirty apron and a limp and said have at 'er... anywho.... sweet! My chicken dish finally arrives midway through my wife and daughters meal, and I dig in! Delicious. So good that apparently I even got spinach added to mine without even asking for it or seeing it the foods description in the menu!! Lucky boy! I ate the whole thing. But sadly.... my older daughters food???? Not here yet??? Huh? I'd think a kids spaghetti and meatballs would have been the first thing out at a slow Italian restaurant. Guess not. Because it was only after I approached the delightful bathroom directing lady from earlier, did any swift movement happen, and wishing 5 minutes I was served my child's pasta by the gentleman with the apron from before a dish of spaghetti that In his words were al dentè... a true Italian!! I guess the part of Italy his family is from uses al dentè differently than mine, because I thought it meant just right, not shit ... oh well live and learn. After the spaghetti incident I asked promptly for our bill as to keep thing moving along, it was forgotten but candy and ambrosia dessert cups were brought instead. , when asked for the bill again, I was handed a piece of handwritten chicken scratch with no real price on it. Huh. Whatever, let's just pay and get the fuck outta here. It was supposed to be around 45 bucks or so. No biggie.... when the printed receipt came, it was 75.00. Now, we could have went to the upscale tavern around the corner and spent about 90 bucks for all of us to eat like kings, but the wait Was 2 hrs. When I approach the owner/ waitress/thief, I used my calculator on my phone to do the bill and with rousing everything up, if came to 60. Still high, but better... she then took the bill and started doing "air math " and long addition and even she came back with 64.00$. I was so furious and disgusted by the entire evening there, I did not sin the bill and we left for fear of my family watching me go to new hope jail. I'm disputing the charge to my bank because after we left, we read on yelp that the waitress secretly adds 20 to 30 percent to some bills because she knows there will be no tip. I've had shitty restaurant experiences before, and I chalk them up to that. But that's people are crooks. Literally. Place is cutely disgusting, and is a waste of a great outdoor patio and restaurant space in an awsome little town. Don't be fooled by the empty patio and open seats. There's a reason. Went here on Labor day weekend, we sat down and almost as soon as we sat down a fight broke out between a waitress and some people sitting at a table. Not sure exactly what happened but apparently the waitress called these potential customers "crack heads" and they walked out. Later we found out that this waitress was also the owner. I ordered the Penne Vodka and my friend ordered a Burger, and a basket of mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks where good, but our main courses where very disappointing. Firstly the Penne Vodka was not made with Penne pasta, but Ziti. At the pasta was very over cooked, soft and mushy. The sauce was nothing to write home about and made me feel a bit sick. My friend said that the burger tasted like frozen Costco burgers, and he would not get a burger there again. They also charged $2.25 for a club soda, which I felt was a little steep but but that might just be my opinion. It seemed like most of the other people eating there where also sending food back or complaining about their meals. Would not suggest eating here if you want good food, or service. read more

Riding my bike on the canal path I ran right into this place which looked nice from the appearance. I had been riding my bike for over 35 miles on the canal and was in the mood for a refreshing meal and drink. With my phone battery at 10% my main concern was finding a restaurant that would allow me to charge my cell while eating. I was greeted by the wait staff whom genuinely seemed nice as I was looking at the menu. They offered me to sit anywhere in their nice outdoor seating area. I chose a seat that had an extension cord directly next to the table. As I was waiting to be greeted I plugged my phone in to get a little charge and was then scolded by the waitress who came over that I could blow their circuits by plugging it in. As I was told to remove it, I politely asked if there was anywhere else I could plug it in and was told no. As nice as I could I let the waitress know I'll have to take my business elsewhere. Literally she walked away from me as I was not even finished my sentence. I decided to take my business elsewhere and I had no problem with having my phone plugged in to the next place I went. Sorry Villa Vito, I'll never patron your business. For being right off the canal path I'm surprised that you don't value the business of people who ride bikes on the canal. read more
