Fettuccine fruta di mare! House salad, garlic bread, olives, our BYOB!
David L.

We make frequent day trips to New Hope, PA and Lambertville, NJ from Manhattan by car. It's one of our favorite road trip destinations and less than a 2-hour drive from the city. However, we've always found the restaurants in New Hope to be too seasonal and inconsistent and so we began searching in Lambertville. We finally found a keeper! We happened upon Giuseppe's for lunch and it was so good that we returned for dinner. No frills, family run, excellent home-cooked pasta dishes, pizze, salads and you can bring your own bottle of wine with no corking fee! Alessandra was our server for dinner and Joanne served our lunch. Both were super friendly and efficient. Chef Mark even remembered us, which is always a nice touch! Giuseppe's provides very good Italian comfort food, made with fresh ingredients at gentle price points.

I have to say, I'm a bit of a cheesesteak connoisseur. They make one of the best cheese steaks around. I would even say they rival donkeys. The bread absolutely makes this sandwich.

Margarita Pizza. Rock solid and flavorful.

Being NY A Holes when it comes to Pizza and the like, and while looking for a lunch spot in Lambertville, we came upon this Pizza Joint. All is well here, as the four of us came in off the mean streets of Lambertville. Star Child, Gift from God as well as Spouse all saw drops in their blood sugar level. Time to eat.

Simple, well-executed and utterly unpretentious, this place has been a favorite for many years. The staff is friendly and efficient, the pizza is always hot, the crust is crispy. The specials--one of them is pictured--are never overpriced. The place is clean, the sesame cookies are 'a must' with coffee--and a few to take home and I'll be going back for many years yet.

We finally got around to trying Taverna 54. We called ahead to check on seating, and Maximo told us…read moreto come in. When we arrived, though, we were told there weren't any seats. After a few minutes, they said they could squeeze us in. It felt a bit odd -- the space isn't very large, so you'd expect the dining room to be easier to manage. We shared the burger and the carbonara. Both dishes were underwhelming, especially given the expectations we had for this spot. The burger was on the bland side, and the carbonara was made with store‑bought noodles, which took away from the dish. While the food missed the mark, the dining area itself is very nice and the service was great.

It's a place that feels special and welcoming, great for a night out with friends or a date. We started strong with the appetizers--the meatballs and burrata were excellent. Flavorful, well-prepared, and a great way to kick off the meal. Unfortunately, things took a nosedive when we got to the main course. My friend ordered the lasagna, and his verdict was harsh but honest: it reminded him of high school cafeteria food. I ordered the New York strip steak, and I can only describe it as awful--tough, flavorless, and poorly presented (photo attached if you're reading this somewhere that allows images). Thankfully, dessert helped redeem the experience. Everything we tried was delicious, beautifully done, and left a great final impression. Bottom line: Taverna 54 is worth visiting for its appetizers, drinks, and desserts. Skip the mains. With such a beautiful setting and solid service, it's a shame the entrees don't live up to the rest of the experience.

When you walk in there is sort of a vestibule before the dining room, but it felt as if we had actually come in by the wrong door -- I'm still not sure. Either the front door is well hidden or the entrance is not very welcoming, and there was no one there to greet us. Once seated, however, the atmosphere was charming. We had some light trouble communicating with the staff. It wasn't at all clear who the three different people who visited our table were. The youngest one, in particular, spoke so fast and low that it was difficult to follow him, and even though the room was relatively quiet. The food made up for some of our difficulties. The cioppino, in particular, was excellent, even if it didn't contain exactly the items listed in the menu; it's the nature of the dish. Once we had our meals, everything was quite agreeable. The food was great; the rest of the experience kind of 'mid.' It seemed that if we were regulars, already acquainted with the idiosyncrasies of the place, we would have been more comfortable, but as first-timers it was all a bit discomfiting. I suppose would go back again, but it hasn't won it's way into a spot among my favorites.

Staff is very professional and friendly, always making sure everyone is having a good time. Honestly, all the food is great here but some of my favorites are definitely the carpaccio and calamari appetizer (the calamari is the BEST I ever had, hands down) and their coffee panacota for dessert is also out of this world, just amazing! If you are a bread lover just know they make their own bread in house. 5 stars always!

For appetizers, we got zucchini chips, fried calamari and mussels. The calamari was fried too hard and it had a very salty, spicy Chilean type sauce over it. The zucchini chips were thinly sliced, lightly battered with Parmesan cheese sprinkled over them. They were decent but nothing to write home about. In fact, after having about six or seven of the zucchini chips I began to experience heartburn from the grease. For entrees, my husband had the chicken parm. He said it was too thick and should have been flattened more before frying. It was also very breaded. My brother-in-law ordered the chicken and waffles and he said the chicken tasted day old so after having a bite of one piece of the chicken he pushed the chicken aside and called it a day. I called the waiter over and informed him about the chicken tasting day old. He didn't try to change it out or take it off the bill or get a manager. He just apologized by saying I'm sorry. My crab Mac and Cheese was decent. It wasn't seasoned the way I would have liked but the huge, plentiful chunks of crab made up for that. I ate a third of my dish and packed the rest for home where I will doctor it up to my taste. I've never been to this particular restaurant before. The only reason we came today is because my brother-in-law was here on business and staying at a hotel in the area.
