DO NOT BUY VEHICLES FROM VILLAGE AUTO! Total lack of honesty, transparency, and customer service. When you unknowingly buy a lemon of a vehicle off their lot, the service guy in the shop will get mad at you for calling about repairs that should have happened. Then flips the script and accuses the customer of being rude and yelling, but he is the one telling. As a single mom, with valuable cargo being my family, a company should NEVER treat a buying customer like this. They swindle you to buy a vehicle that they know have recalls & saftey issues. I was interested in a car at Village Auto and told the salesman to take it off the lot for me so I could come up and buy it since I am from the Madison area. He said he would and doubted it would sell before then. I drove all the way up to Green Bay and arrived to Village Auto and was told the car I was interested in "just sold". The salesmen told me he was really sorry and it was really busy this morning. There was only one customer all morning and that was the guy who made an appointment to buy the car I was going to buy. This place is as sleazy as used car dealerships come. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

I purchased a truck from Villlage Auto, Inc. in August of 2015. At the time I test drove the vehicle, it worked well. Cruise control was fine, windows, locks, changing from 2WD to 4WD, all fine. Cosmetically the vehicle was in great shape. I test drove the vehicle on a warm day and noticed the AC was not working. They gladly fixed it for me. Within the past 6 months of owning the vehicle, the following issues have arisen. I have heard from multiple mechanics that I've been to that these issues are all "quite obvious" and "extremely unlikely to go unnoticed" by anyone who knows anything about cars. 1. Late September 2015, turned the heater on nothing came out. I had a mechanic look at it and he noticed that a hose had been kinked to block the flow of air. We unkinked the hose and immediately smelled coolant. Turns out the heater core was leaking. Inhaling too much of this can *literally* kill you. I contacted the dealership and they agreed to pay $300 for the repair. This ended up a ~$900 job. 2. Late September 2015, the parking break cable snapped on second use. Mind you - vehicle has less than 150k miles on it. 3. February 2015. Took the vehicle in to address a recall issued by Toyota regarding the latch that holds the spare tire. No problem, Toyota will cover it. The dealer comes back and told me the vehicle had another recall earlier that had since expired, but was not serviced on this vehicle, and there are two holes in the frame in the area that holds the bed and cab together. Again, the mechanic said that due to the well-documented nature of these recalls, not to mention the routine inspection that any self-respecting used car dealership would do, this would be almost impossible to miss. It is not that Village Auto sold me a vehicle that was not in great shape. I bought an old truck and was not expecting it to be perfect. It is that they sold me a vehicle that had documented and potentially mortally dangerous flaws. I'm being as objective as I can here. It is on the onus of a buyer to determine whether or not the vehicle is in good enough shape to justify purchase. It is on the onus of the seller to sell vehicles that are safe for operation and up to the standard they advertise. read more

I bought a f150. Looked it over. we liked what we seen. came back a second time looked it over went through with the purchase. They kept it that weekend. They had it all warmed up. so we just jumped in the truck . by time we got home. we noticed that they broke the front grill. Support plate for the bumper was missing. A day later the rear differential seal blows oil all over my driveway. The expensive insurance I bought pretty much told me there was nothing they could do for me. Everyone promised they were so sorry. They're going to pay me back. they were going to make it right. Nothing! no follow through from anyone. Canceled that stupid insurance immediately. There was supposed to be a grace period which I was within. But I still had to threaten to sue them to get my money back. They're great at covering up garbage. I would never go back. read more

Looked at several cars, found one we were interested in. Foolishly put $100 deposit so it wouldn't be sold before we could have it inspected. It failed the first inspection, we gave them an opportunity to fix the defect, which they claimed they did. The second inspection revealed nothing was fixed, so needless to say, we did not purchase the vehicle, nor did we receive our deposit back. read more

by Disabled Veteran Auto Mechanic from Appleton, WI | Called about an Acadia they had since I was about 50 miles away and driving 8 MPG plow truck. They told me its in great shape and tires are in really good shape. I got up there to look at it and noticed hood lines were off and pushed against one headlight and it had spiderwebing in paint. Then noticed the fender was catching on the door but just barely it had rubbed the paint off and started a rust spot. Then I looked at the tire that were in really good shape the fronts were 1/3 tread rears were 1/2 and they were cracking around all the tread blocks and would not be street legal in a few months. I pointed out all these and a few other little things to the dealer. Then Asked how much discount he would give so I could go buy a $800 set of tires and about $500 in body work. He kind of laughed at me and said someone will pay full price for it. Implying someone will not notice what they are legal obligated to report since he was not surprised at all about me finding the issues and didn't tell me any of the stuff wrong before I drove up. Then tried to argue that it never had any accident since it showed none on the car fax which only means it was never reported to the insurance or repaired at a dealer that reports. read more

i only gave one star because the sales person joe bartels was freindly but he also didnt know all the options of the 2006 dodge ram 3500 that i bought. 6 days after buying the truck the transmission had major issues that were covered up with additives put in the transmission. when i called village auto and told them what happened they didnt want to help me out at all. their mechanic at the hwy 29 store told me the transmission would be completely fixed correctly,but after i talked with darren, i found out that they were just going to put a bandaid on it by offering to replace just the torque convertor with new one but not clean the pieces from the failed torque convertor that had been fed into the transmission. after 3 days of arguing with them i was able to get $1000 towards the repair of the transmission. i was really upset with that amount after i had just spent $23000 on the truck and had the truck a week and had to spend an additional $1500 on top of the amount they paid me to have the transmission fixed properly. i would not recommend buying any vehicles from VILLAGE AUTO. they do not stand behind the vehicles they sell and if you buy one from them and have problems with it they blow you off because they have your money and dont care that shit goes wrong. i was told it was my problem that i had problems with the truck. i have to say buyer be ware of what you're buying from these people. read more
