Very unfortunate that the new owners ruined what was once an amazing establishment. I used to be so proud to bring my friends and family to the Village Bier Garden but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone now. I understand it can be challenging for new owners to reopen a business and uphold its original integrity, but unfortunately, these owners have failed miserably despite the multiple chances I've given them. They are extremely inconsistent with their hours, often closing during peak times or random days of the week. Tonight, for example, a busy Saturday night with the village packed...they decided to close early at 9 p.m. and were only serving rum and Coke or beer. They were literally turning away business. The authentic German food that once set this place apart is gone. While a few "German-style" items remain on the menu, I wouldn't recommend them. The overall atmosphere has completely changed, no longer family-friendly, with rude staff and no trace of the live German music that used to fill the air and make this spot so special. After giving them several chances, I can confidently say I won't be returning. read more

Want to go to a beautiful German Bier Garden in the cocoa area, stop into the spacious Village Bier Garten. This spacious German pub/restaurant has great German pours and great German eats. Definitely get the pretzel with delicious house made beer cheese. The pretzel is giant and definitely shareable. The bartender was great, we talked to her the longest out of our pub pass stops in Cocoa and the beer she recommended was perfect for me. They have a stage but no events were happening at the time, but I would love to come back and get a beer with some love music. read more

I have been to this restaurant twice. Once for a date & the other I book to celebrate my friend's birthday. Both scenarios are great to do at this venue. They are going to have a new menu with vegan/vegetarian dishes. If you're trying to make a reservation for 6 or more people, their website says to call but no one picks the phone up. I had to go in-person to reserve an area for the birthday party. They could improve by picking up their phone or setting up an automatic voice machine that provides info or change their policy to making future reservations in person. Besides that, I can't complain much-- this is a solid place to go in cocoa village! Date experience: - pork shank is one of their best entrees. I can't remember exactly all the dishes I tried on the date but I enjoyed the food. - good ambiance. They had a live German musician which I appreciated. I enjoyed the entertainment & would come again to see authentic German culture. Birthday: We had a party of 8 people & they happily reserved the dining area for us without any issues. I loved it because I was able to decorate it a bit with balloons & a birthday sign. Food was phenomenal. They have a good beer selection, big Moscow mule pitcher & skis for their "shot skis". It was Saturday night, so they had a dj from 9pm to late. Early evening they had a German musician. Our bill was a little under $500 for the birthday. We decent amount of appetizers, an entree & the drinks. They provide a free dessert if you want it but we didn't need it cause I brought a cake. If you want to bring a cake, they cannot hold it in the restaurant's fridge for health reasons but you're more than welcome to bring one. Cannot recommend this restaurant, at least if you're looking for German food. From what I've heard the restaurant was purchased back in January and appears to be ditching German food. Schnitzel was tasteless and the amount of Jager sauce was inadequate. They no longer have spaetzel, so opted for mashed potatoes which were served barely warm. This place has banging food. Amazing food. It's surprising to me that it only has three stars on here. Not sure why that is. Maybe it's service-based. But I do know that the reason that I am not able to boost that score for them is because they really messed my friends up. They are vegetarians, and the menu online says that they have vegetarian options. But alas, when we showed up, they said the vegetarian options are not available for weekend lunch. It's 2022, and that's really inexcusable. So my veg friends were basically forced to eat salads and bread. Cool. Other than all that, like I said, the food was banging. We started off with the Giant Pretzel (Fresh baked Pretzel served with mustard dipping sauce and a cheese dip). Which had an amazing bite on the outside, a great chew on the inside, the perfect amount of salt on the outside. Delicious. I got to try their classic Wienerschnitzel (Breaded pork to perfection. Topped with lemon slices. Served with potato salad). Very crispy breading, moist throughout, even through this pork was pounded pretty thin. And the potato salad was nice and soft and cold and a good balance to the schnitzel itself. My main dish, though, was the Jagerschnitzel (Breaded pork topped with a mushroom sauces. Served with spaetzel). Same amazing pork cutlets, but with a rich, Very mushroom sauce completely enveloping them. Amazing. And the spaetzel. Everyone loves spaetzel. If you don't, you just haven't had it yet. Order it, try it. I ordered a Red Cabbage side for some freshness and acid. Add a little here, a little there, some to a couple of bites. It's good stuff. Overall, the food was amazing. Yes, the service was ok, but I never let that knock down my five star awards, but that along with their lack of caring or effort for satisfying all of their customers really killed it for me. read more

We were in Cocoa Beach for the Art Walk and stopped in for a drink and appetizer. We had our dogs and they allowed us to sit at a table because it was an outside type of establishment. We ordered an old fashioned, a Guinness, and a giant pretzel, along with water for our dogs. The old fashioned was drinkable, but not enjoyable. The Guinness tasted odd, but hubby went with it. No water ever came. I even walked up to the bartender to get water and still didn't get any. Finally asked the waitress AGAIN, and got water! Later on, the waitress walked over and said the bartender poured the wrong beer for my hubby. Instead of just leaving the partially empty beer and giving him the Guinness, she took it and handed him the right drink. Strange. When the pretzel arrived, we were shocked to see it literally covered in white, I mean salt!! lol Sooo gross. We wiped as much salt off as possible so it would be somewhat edible. We came here with a large party on a Sunday for brunch. The service was a bit slow to start as our server told us they were down two people but once our table was wiped down and we were seated, it seemed pretty standard. The servers were very nice and made excellent recommendations. The food seemed pretty authentic and we enjoyed all the food but especially the potato pancakes, sausages and apple strudel. We sat inside to try to avoid the wind but the place has a pretty little courtyard where they play live music. We enjoyed our meal and would definitely come back. read more

Let's start with it's not worth the money. If u don't mind orders messed up and them not having items like lettuce on your sandwich that is supposed to be on it. My family was looking for a stop on a daytime outing and we came across the Village Bier Garten. I am also a PubPass member and had a BOGO drink here and was happy to redeem my perk without any issue. A lot of my family members are from Germany and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. The Bier selection included things like Hoffbrau, Warsteiner, Bitburger, a couple of Hefeweizens on tap, and domestic cans and bottles. Though we didn't order food- a group next to use ordered the Bavarian pretzel which was a generous portion and looked delicious. We were helped by the bartender immediately which was great. Finding a place to eat on a Monday in Cocoa is not an easy task but it lead us to a new found gem. As you enter the Garden entrance you are transformed and immersed into a German Garden and Pub setting. Although we were there on a slow day, it is clearly put together in a typical German family style setting. Unfortunately they were way understaffed but our server worked hard to take care of everyone. To have a slow start we ordered the Baked Brie and Pretzel with Beer Cheese. The pretzel was flaky and chewy, just the right consistency with a great home made flavor and the mustard and beer cheese vanished quickly. The Brie was just fine but it was strangely familiar to the Brie and berry package that Sam's Club sells. We should of stopped there but we had already ordered. I must say the bratwurst was not a stand out dish. It was ok but nothing memorable. I was surprised of the small amount of Kraut and being on the side. As we left we both said that we will be back. We had a girls night out and wanted to try this German restaurant. It was a Saturday night so they had a Dj outside playing some music. He had a great playlist. The outdoor area has plenty of seating. Our waiter was super nice, offered his opinions when we asked which was helpful. For being busy he was still able to visit our table in a timely manner. My friend was playing a gig there and oh my God I almost made myself sick eating too much! I was so hungry so I started with the Weisswurst - YUMMY and the mustard is insane! Then I went on to have the Berliner Currywurst but I could only eat half. It was like a Top Chef from Germany was told to make a Chili Dog BUT with Indian curry. The flavors were absolutely beyond! I really enjoyed eating it and was sad that I was too full to finish. Because I have a gluten sensitivity I didn't get to try the giant pretzel but I ordered it for my friend and that damn thing is as big as a steering wheel! OK may be on a Toyota but still it's ginormous. I'll ask him how he enjoyed it. Everybody at work said you have to try the giant pretzel. I had a SchoffenHofer to drink because I know the beer and it's refreshing without too much alcohol content. Oddly enough with a gluten sensitivity as long as I only have one it doesn't make me sick. That's also a go to beer at Epcot. My friend had a Bitburger and those are really good. After looking at the pictures and the reviews for this lo still just had to try it out. I will say that if your going to be going prior to dinner time you'll be waiting a bit. But be wait is definitely worth it with the taste of the food. We ordered several times but only have pictures of two (onion and goulash soup). The service was ok... they won't hold the title in my heart for the most welcoming staff (hostess/manager), however, their waiter Gary made up for it. But we still had an amazing experience. The ambiance once inside is warm and cozy. My girlfriend and I enjoyed the experience once being seated. If it weren't for the hiccup in service at the beginning I would say they would get 5 SOLID STARS. read more

Yeah! 5 stars! Because they're roughing it out during Covid and making the best out of what they can do right now. As a Cocoa native, for the last 20 years I've lived in South Florida but when I visit, I love Cocoa Village. I'm ashamed to say this is my first visit here. Finally, a day before turkey day during the ol Rona I stopped in with the fam for a delicious (large) beer and some schnitzel! Definitely didn't disappoint. Our server Sebastian was awesome and attentive. The food, fantastic, I mean...look at the pretzel! The beer, cold and delicious! The last few months have been brutal on local businesses. I'm sad to see one of my favorites close on Cocoa Beach. Von Stephans is making it. It was indeed slow. Low and behold if the Village Bier Garten in Cocoa Village, FL didn't pop up in the window. "Oh, well," I thought as I put the Big Boy Mobile in gear, another hope dashed by the randomness of life. Truthfully, I am sick of all the crappy Italian food in this county. I found the Village Bier Garten in the very heart of quaint Cocoa Village, FL. It is very tastefully decorated with homage to the German roots of the owner, Troy Winfred von Stephan, a third-generation German-American. After being shown a table and handed a bill of fare, I began to peruse said menu. With a name like Village Bier Garten, you know they had an ample selection of bier from which to wet your whistle. As I am on the wagon, I did not partake; however, they do have quite a variety on the menu. As I was pondering the entrees, I locked eyes with an approaching person, she stopped and introduced herself as Hannah and informed me she was to be my waitress today and wondered if I was ready to order. I asked Hannah for my German food barometer of Wiener Schnitzel and an order of Hackbraten. Relaxing while waiting for my food, I again took in my surroundings. Approving the décor, the location and the all-around welcoming feel of the place, I was interrupted by Hannah returning with my order. Hannah is very congenial, professional and at the top of her game. Certainly no complaints with the wait staff or service. Filling my meat hooks with the provided utensils, I readied myself to get to work. Everything certainly did look appealing and was plated with aplomb. I found the Wiener Schnitzel to be breaded abundantly and obviously by hand. The pork was pounded to a perfect thickness and it was a delight to smack. The side of potato salad was exceedingly flavorful and I would almost swear it was made fresh to order. Moving on to the Hackbraten. Hackbraten, for those not in the know, is the German equivalent of Meatloaf. After one bite all I can say is that this is NOT your mom's meatloaf nor a Swanson's TV Dinner. This is very good. Such a complex meld of flavors came together in a glorious cascade of finesse across my taste buds. Not only was it flavorful, but had the perfect firmness a meatloaf should have and was cooked spot on. What the what? The accompanying Spaetzle was superlatively seasoned. Seasoning is the key here and the chef hit this one over the fence.
