We've frequented here for the last 3 years and I've never been disappointed. It's a "mom and pop" that's been around for decades and has gone through a few owners. We've always had a table available for us upon entering whether it was busy or not. Recently they've done some great upgrades- the ceiling, a/c, lights, sound system, and tv. They've kept prices low compared to what they could be charging to make sure their "regulars" will still come. Things I've tried that I've loved: - gyro breakfast platter - western omelette - farmers omelette - chili omelette - the works omelette - Raul's burger - chicken quesadilla - mushroom Swiss burger - Reuben We've had the grits, home fries, hash browns, bowl of fruit for sides. There is absolutely nothing above that I would not get again. Honestly! To top it off the wait staff are so friendly. Lucy remembers people as if she has super powers. The icing on the cake is just how down to earth Raul is. I don't know his story, but I feel like it's one we would want to listen to. He comes out every time we are there and goes around to all the tables. Very pleasant to talk to. This is one of those places that many people who drive by would overlook and I promise you, you're missing out. Simply order the French fries and you'll be hooked.

I enjoyed a lunch here today. Mybserver was very nice and attentive. I ordered the chopped steak with mashed potatoes, gravy, cole slaw, and potato soup. Everything here was tasty, the chopped steak was expertly seasoned and grilled to perfection. I will be back soon.

I believe this was the chicken noodle soup. It tasted like something you get straight out of the can.

When it comes to local or mom-and-pop businesses, especially restaurants, I usually prefer them as they are the epitome of living the American dream. I will even give such businesses a curve when it comes to my critiques. Unfortunately, not all local businesses can make it despite my critique curve. With that in mind, Old Village Restaurant is sadly one of those restaurants. Old Village Restaurant (which I will shortened simply to Old Village for the remainder of this review) is located on Aurora Rd. near the train tracks. It is a run-down dive that has seen better days for sure. The interior isn't any better as the decor is outdated and falling apart, the tables and chairs are unclean and uncomfortable, and the rug needs a thorough cleaning. Not to mention it feels as if everything has either a sheen layer of something sticky or something slippery. Even the air feels like it needs a thorough cleaning. Now to be fair, I wouldn't mind the dated look and furniture if it was 1.) clean and 2.) comfortable, but they were not. Ergo, everything now relies on the food. Sadly the food is a miss too. I ordered the shrimp with veggies and mashed potatoes. Everything looked like stuff you eat out of a microwave oven. Not only that, they probably cooked it all wrong because my body was reacting negatively to it. Overall, I will never give Old Village a chance ever again. I am usually forgiving and will give a place a chance to redeem themselves. But if it feels like my health is in jeaporday doing anything, epseically eating food, that is surely a one-strike-and-you-are-out scenario.

*INITIAL REVIEW* I…read morewas leaving Pau Hana Kava Bar to continue my kava bar sprint northbound on Wickham Rd., but it was lunchtime and I was hankering some food. Mimmo's Pizza and Ristorante (which I will shorthand it to Mimmo's) was always on my "to go" list ever since many of them replaced many Bizzaro's Pizzarias (Two "Z's," not one). This was a good time to actually try Mimmo's, right? I mean, why not? First and foremost, this restaruant used to be Sweet Tomatoes, not associated to the awesome salad buffet in Orlando. On the outside, the restaurant looks like any other restaurant that takes over this kind of building. Inside, it definitely has the Italian home vibes. Think of red and white checkerboard table clothes, Italian flags, wine bottle holders and the like. If you ever been to any Italian restaurant, especially one that utilizes the "family tradition" or "mom n' pop" feel, then you already know the menu. Pizza slices, garlic knots, and Italian dinners such as spaghetti, parmesian, and ziti... guaranteed to be baked in a stone oven. I did not know the pizza slices were large, and I ended up getting two. I ate parts of both and I will say they are a-okay. They don't stand out, but they are good. Wouldn't mind eating these kinds of slices again. Pricewise, the food is average across the board even if you compare it to other Italian restaurants of this same ilk. Not saying it is good or bad, just not really a standout. Not below average. Just... average. On a sidenote, the service was decently kind and the restroom, well the men's restroom, was clean and stocked. Ergo, I am going to give this Mimmo's three-out-of-five stars. Average across the board, which doesn't mean it is bad nor good... just is. This means I will not purposely seek out this Mimmo's if I am ever hankering Italian food, but if I am hankering such food and this Mimmo's happens to be convenient, I wouldn't mind eating here. Just not expecting anything more or less than what I got.

I've never been to this restaurant before at this specific location, but I can see why everyone picked it As is to be expected different people arrived at different times, but we were all able to sit comfortably in a group and the weight staff accommodated our amount of guests by exhibiting adaptability and patience I personally enjoyed a classic cheeseburger with a double patty and a side of steamed vegetables. Not only is this place military friendly but the quality and quantity of food I got at that price point doesn't feel like it can be beat. I will say that I glanced over at the Pizookie which looks fantastic and saw a drink with a duck in it that is going to ensure the next time I come by I try it as well Sharon was our waitress and she did a fantastic job making sure everyone's order was on point and circling back often not only to check on our food but to refresh our drinks accordingly. Another thing I liked was that people's orders were brought out virtually close to one another despite being ordered a different times. We had a fantastic time. The place was super clean. We tried the same location a second time and same horrific service. When we moved to Florida my grandfather and I ate at one in Jacksonville and it was ok. Recently my wife and I visited the location in Melbourne, Fl. The parking lot was full and so was the building. We were seated in 10 minutes. Our server Keith took our order and was knowledgeable on the menu. However our experience went downhill from there. My wife ordered soup and salad and got it in 5 minutes. I ordered hamburger and had to watch my wife eat her food. It took another 20 minutes for my burger. My wife's soup was lukewarm at best and we had to ask for a fork for her salad. There was not silverware on the table when we arrived and Keith never once offered us any. I had to use my wife's napkin. When we asked for our tab. Keith asked us to fill out a survey. Truthfully he would not want me to review his service. I will say the food for the most part was good but BJ's and Keith struck out big time when it came to basic customer service. After multiple negative experiences at more than one BJ's we have decided this is it. We are done and will never visit BJ's again anywhere
