La Loma Coney Island is a great place for either breakfast or lunch. They are only open until 2:00, but they are open seven days a week. The service here is incredibly friendly and the place has an overall pleasant enough vibe. It was also clean. I decided to go with an order to go and opted for the gyro with French fries. After tax and all, it was just over twelve dollars. The food came out pretty quickly. The lettuce and onion was extremely fresh. This was very refreshing to see. The pita was fresh, as well. The mear and tzatziki sauce were good. It possibly could have used a bit more meat. The French fries were pretty amazing. They were perfectly cooked. All in all, I would definitely recommend La Loma Coney Island and I will be back. read more

A good friend of mine told me that him and his Family has a restaurant. My Mom and I are hungry so we came to Brunch here at 11:45am Their meatloaf is amazing and Mom wanted their Omelet breakfast. The restaurant is very vibrant and welcoming. I meet my friend Mom Fatima. My friend Uriel stop by the restaurant as well. Our waitress Taylor was very professional. The ambience and music was great. We've frequented here for the last 3 years and I've never been disappointed. It's a "mom and pop" that's been around for decades and has gone through a few owners. We've always had a table available for us upon entering whether it was busy or not. Recently they've done some great upgrades- the ceiling, a/c, lights, sound system, and tv. They've kept prices low compared to what they could be charging to make sure their "regulars" will still come. Things I've tried that I've loved: - gyro breakfast platter - western omelette - farmers omelette - chili omelette - the works omelette - Raul's burger - chicken quesadilla - mushroom Swiss burger - Reuben We've had the grits, home fries, hash browns, bowl of fruit for sides. There is absolutely nothing above that I would not get again. Honestly! To top it off the wait staff are so friendly. Lucy remembers people as if she has super powers. The icing on the cake is just how down to earth Raul is. I don't know his story, but I feel like it's one we would want to listen to. He comes out every time we are there and goes around to all the tables. Very pleasant to talk to. When it comes to local or mom-and-pop businesses, especially restaurants, I usually prefer them as they are the epitome of living the American dream. I will even give such businesses a curve when it comes to my critiques. Unfortunately, not all local businesses can make it despite my critique curve. With that in mind, Old Village Restaurant is sadly one of those restaurants. Old Village Restaurant (which I will shortened simply to Old Village for the remainder of this review) is located on Aurora Rd. near the train tracks. It is a run-down dive that has seen better days for sure. The interior isn't any better as the decor is outdated and falling apart, the tables and chairs are unclean and uncomfortable, and the rug needs a thorough cleaning. Not to mention it feels as if everything has either a sheen layer of something sticky or something slippery. Even the air feels like it needs a thorough cleaning. Now to be fair, I wouldn't mind the dated look and furniture if it was 1.) clean and 2.) comfortable, but they were not. Ergo, everything now relies on the food. Sadly the food is a miss too. I ordered the shrimp with veggies and mashed potatoes. Everything looked like stuff you eat out of a microwave oven. Not only that, they probably cooked it all wrong because my body was reacting negatively to it. Overall, I will never give Old Village a chance ever again. I am usually forgiving and will give a place a chance to redeem themselves. But if it feels like my health is in jeaporday doing anything, epseically eating food, that is surely a one-strike-and-you-are-out scenario. read more

This is one of my favorite spots in Melbourne for breakfast and lunch. Why? Because the food is consistently prepared by the same talented guy every single time. He keeps a clean kitchen and everything always tastes as it should (clean oil, grill, etc.) and I have never been disappointed. The coney dogs are fantastic. The gyros are bomb. The entire breakfast menu is delicious. The menu items are basic yet unique somehow. The wait staff has been around for a long time and they know their jobs and the menu well, and at least half the customers that come in and what they usually order. A lot of regulars which means it's pretty good. The staff is always smiling, friendly and funny; the banter amongst them really makes the place feel comfy and locally owned, and is usually good for some laughs. And the ambiance is bright and cheery, fresh color scheme, beautiful landscaping, always has available tables or stools. Specials every day. And the owner Raul is almost always there doing a bit of everything and saying hi to his customers. It's a great place. Kind of a hidden gem, as it was purchased and revamped a few years ago. I saw marginal improvements made by the new owner, Raul, from having eaten at the previous establishment once or twice, while not shaking things up too much and losing any previous patrons. Well good bye Old Village! Truly a-shame. A new owner has taken over this once nostalgic restaurant and it is now called La Loma Coney Island. We are long time customers of the Old Village and we decided to go try the new change. Not so new in my opinion. The prices have changed drastically in about 1 month time since us being there before the name change. What once was a great breakfast special for under $7 with a drink has jumped to $10. Also beware if you use a credit card to pay, they surcharge you .75 without any warning or any signs stating this!!! This once small restaurant in a neighborhood setting has really changed for the worse in my opinion. read more

We had not eaten at Old Village Restaurant in about 15 year but it has stayed a solid breakfast and lunch choice through all those years. My steak and eggs breakfast had a tasty 4oz steak which was actually cooked rare like I asked. A little unexpected in the breakfast steak world! The home fries were good too. The country fried steak was very good also. My only down mark is that I found the eggs a bit watery, even at over easy. They could stand a little oil in their preparation. This was a quick and pleasant dining experience. It was inexpensive too! We will return. read more

My wife and I visited here the day after Thanksgiving and we were glad we did! The staff was so warm and friendly it felt like you were a regular! We chose breakfast since we never make any at home and it was delicious! Corned beef hash with two over easy and perfect over easy eggs with cottage fries ( crunchy outside pillows on the inside) they were perfect. My wife's omelet bulging with filling and with a side pancake option over toast yes please!! Great food served fast !!!Priceless ambiance and friendly people!! You owe it to yourself to go there !! Went past many times and since the parking lot is always full, decided to try it out. We were pleasantly surprised. The interior is clean and inviting, no smell of greasy food. The wait staff were all very friendly, and service was quick without felling rushed. It was a perfect choice for lunch. My spouse had a bowl of minestrone soup, and it was laden with vegetables and surely home made. The seasoning was perfect, and not too salty as many diner soups tend to be. I had a clubhouse sandwich, something that is no longer common, but a comfort food. The bread was toasted perfectly, the bacon smokey, and the combination of beef, ham, & turkey just right. Good sandwiches are hard to find, and this was a very good one. My wife da chicken salad sandwich, and commented that the reason it was one of the best she has had was because the chicken wasn't overpowered by mayonnaise or salad dressing, as a lot of chicken salads are. I saw the two other positive reviews and decided to try this place for lunch. I was very disappointed. Immediately when you walk in the whole room smells moldy. The atmosphere is dingy, dark, and dated. Our waitress was very pleasant and the food came out quickly, however the food was not that great. The first half of my patty melt tasted fine (nothing special) but the second half had a weird cleaning-fluid taste. The coke I tried to drink smelled like fish. I'm not sure if that was the glass or if the fountain they use needed to be cleaned. The waitress that cashed us out was not pleasant, she acted as though it were a massive inconvenience to split a check with only 5 items on it. I usually really enjoy dining at small local businesses but I will not be returning or recommending this restaurant to anyone. read more
